this is my go to dîner. Food is reliable, and the service is so friendly, you feel you are at a neighbor's, not a restaurant.

There are dozens of family-run diners in NYC and a true melting pot of heritages owning them, most serving the same all-American fare their customers expect. I have to say owner Jack Elamrousi stands out from the pack. An Egyptian immigrant who started long ago as a busboy, he runs his diner like a well-oiled machine, always one step ahead of his customers and making them feel like family members they actually like and don't owe them money. Jamie W and I were taking a long walk on Lexington to the Frick Collection and needed to get some breakfast en route. I liked how this place made its demand quite clear..."Eat Here Now!", so we stopped by this nice-looking cafe full of dark woods and vintage touches. It appeared to be a favorite spot for local seniors who insisted on sitting in the window booths. Jack kindly seated us at one when it was freed up, so we felt special already. Jamie ordered the $26 Cobb Salad, a hearty and fresh mix of mixed greens, celery, carrot, baby corn, blue cheese, olives, and hard boiled eggs topped with shards of grilled chicken and avocado slices (Photo 8). I went with the $19 California Salad, a simple plate of romaine leaves covered with cottage cheese, fresh fruit salad, and believe it or not, red Jello (Video). I don't think I've seen Jello on a lunch plate since the cafeteria in middle school. I kinda loved it. I added the $4.90 Pork Link Sausages (Photo 9) because there was no use being THAT healthy in New York City. We ended up nursing our $4 mugs of Coffee for quite some time in our comfy booth. Jack even stopped by and chatted us up. We learned that he opened his diner 36 years ago and shared his pride in surviving. Meanwhile, his staff was laser focused on providing attentive service from start to finish. Eat Here Now? Definitely. Eat Here Later? For sure. Eat Here Now is an old school NYC diner and for that I love it. The food is fine, service friendly and the coffee is way better than I would have expected. A fellow customer was having a toasted blueberry muffin and a coffee, I was a bit jealous as that muffin looked great. read more

Went for brunch and it's perfect for that. This no-frills yet cute east side establishment is pretty much a diner and is quite reasonably priced. The staff is very attentive, the food good - what more can you ask for? The space is on the small side, but the turnover is pretty quick, plus there's room at the counter. We stopped here for breakfast because my son had a taste for pancakes. Everyone here was very warm and welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure we had a pleasant breakfast in the city. It's a quaint diner-like atmosphere. I had the spinach and bacon omelette with breakfast potatoes. I cleared my plate! It also came with two slices of toast with bread of your choosing. My husband had the pancake breakfast and also finished his entire meal. My Little's definitely enjoyed their Belgian waffle and pancakes. I also had a delightful cappuccino. Our meal came to $83 with the addition of three orange juices. That alone was $15. The juice will get you every time. I'm not sure if that is a going rate for breakfast for four in the city, but it feels like it is. Beyond the price to dine, no complaints. read more

This place is fairly close to the Frick Collection as we wanted a bite to eat prior to our time slot at 10:30AM last Saturday. From the outside, it doesn't seem much, but inside was a real time capsule of a place frozen in time; a classic local spot for a cozy breakfast. We started immediately with coffees as soon as we sat in our cozy booth. The waitress was friendly enough and gave us plenty of time to decide what we wanted from the menu. I decided on my western omelette, which is my favorite, and my friend got the egg benedict. There was a bit of a wait until our food was served, but it allowed us to really enjoy our coffees first. There was seating outside, but we wanted to beat the heat and enjoy some AC before our long day ahead. My western omelette was pretty damn good, and my friend truly enjoyed his eggs benedict. The coffee pot came around multiple times during our meals and I topped off at least twice. This was a really solid omelette and making the decision to add cheddar to it last minute was completely clutch. This is worth a stop by if you're in the area for sure! read more

This is a classic cozy diner right in midtown with great service & dependable food. First of all, this place has been here for 40yrs (easily). This place has been here since my high school days down the block in '95. So I love this place because it takes me back. We sat at the counter waitress was attentive took our order quickly. Met friends for lunch at this eatery near the Central Park Zoo. They have a pretty extensive menu, egg dishes, breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and Italian entrees. The staff were friendly and nice. We weren't rushed and stayed over 3 hours to catch up. read more

A chicken salad sandwich had a very small amount of chicken, half a leaf of lettuce, 2 thin slices of tomato and a few thin pieces of onion. I had to ask for the Cole slaw and pickle that always comes with such sandwiches and was told by the waitress, albeit with a scolding look on her face, that although it does not come with a sandwich she'd give me what turned out to be a tsp of Cole slaw in a minuscule cup and 3 thin little slices of a pickle. All for the honor of paying $18.50 to still be hungry after eating in a restaurant that has an "A" rating despite having roaches. read more

Googled a diner near us and found this place. It was nuts inside. But they sat us within 5 minutes. We love small mom and pop places. Which was surprising because of the location. The servers and the owner were all so welcoming and nice! It was super super busy but we can describe it as organized chaos We got our drinks right away and ordered our food within 10 minutes. It was midday so most of us decided for Lunch. My boyfriend had the hungry man breakfast, my mom ordered a grilled chicken sandwich my daughter had a cheeseburger and I had a Philly cheesesteak. The portions were pretty big, we allll had leftovers. The Philly cheesesteak was so warm and delicious literally melts in your mouth! The chicken was so soft and perfectly cooked, the bread was a lot, but still was really good. The eggs came out just as he asked and the waffle was delicious too! My daughter ate the burger and fries and that too was cooked just as she asked well done. Friday 1:00pm Party of 2 Strolling down Lexington Avenue and decided it was time to stop for some lunch and a cup of coffee on a cold January day. There are booths and tables. We were seated at a table for 2 and given menus right away. We ordered water to start with While we perused the menu. The restaurant is small with seating close together, so we got to over hear the conversation Of the two people next to us. We were glad when they left. We ordered the Balboa sandwich: roast beef with Swiss cheese and fries. It came with two slices of of fresh tomato and Two pickle slices. The bread used for the sandwich was similar to a flat hamburger bun. The meat was good, not fatty And not salty. There weren't too many fries but that was fine. We were planning on dessert. After the sandwich we ordered coffee, which was very good and a slice of warm apple pie. The waitress suggested A slice of cake and the cake in the refrigerated case looked tasty, but glad we stuck with the apple pie. I am a breakfast person, I ended stopping at this diner for lunchtime and ordered Eggs Benedict (Salmon) with a cup of coffee. I've ate a lot of eggs Benedict brunches here in NYC and this was by far the best. From a crunchy English muffin to the creamy flavorful hollandaise sauce. The serves was great and fast, everyone was attentive and super friendly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone seeking diner food or something quick but too heavy. Cute little diner-like place. My cousin and I were looking to grab breakfast and stumbled upon Eat Here Now and we did just that! I had a BLT and my cousin had an omelette. The service was great, our waitress was attentive. We ordered and our food came out pretty quickly. Inflation has really hit because our breakfast consisting of a BLT w avocado, omelette and 1 iced coffee was $45. I thought that was pretty pricey. My cousin's omelette was $18. Eat Here Now has been here forever. I'm not sure why it appears to be a new business unless it's under a new owner. They sure are providing top quality service. Every employee was really nice and working hard, and in cooperation with each other. When I said I wanted to sit inside I showed proof of vaccination and was told I could sit wherever I wanted. I took a nice booth in back facing the door. I had a nice window view too. There's partitions between booths for added safety. I knew what I wanted so my order went in quickly. I forgot to say sweet potato fries and they brought out regular. I said it was my error and I would be glad to pay for both. I still wanted the sweet potato fries to eat. They wouldn't hear of it and didn't charge me for my error. I ordered my usual grilled cheese sandwich with American Cheese on Rye Bread and it was spectacular. Not dripping in grease. Toasty and tasty. I left satisfied with the food and the charge of $14.05 is reasonable compared to diners in my neighborhood. I left a good tip to cover the excellent service from all employees! I'm recommending you visit here for their extensive menu and old school diner atmosphere. Plus there's lots of seating both inside and outside. I can tell how much I'm going to love a place by how I feel when I immediately walk in. Either I'm really intuitive or rigid in my first impressions, but I'm always right on it. When I walked into THIS PLACE? Immediate laughs and good energy. I was greeted by the owner Jack who said he has been here since the 1980s after he saw the year I was born on my vaccination card. He told me about his twins who happened to also be my age and really had me entertained from the second I sat down. Don't even get me started on Debra! What a beautiful person inside and out. Hilarious. She made me feel like I was a regular here and it was my first time here. I'm debating being a regular here, seriously. After eating, I felt so cozy that I didn't even wanna get up and go. I ordered the BLT, went to use the bathroom, and when I came back out it was on the table. QUICK. They let me try their fries too and wow. So crispy and perfectly salty. I'm not kidding the service here is super efficient. One of the fastest I've ever seen! I sat here for a while with my tea, my book, and giggling with Debra & Jack. This is what I love about down to earth, local businesses. Yeah, I could have went to Jojo (some upscale place) around the corner. But would I have laughed this much and ate this good? Such a friendly staff for the most part when you walk right through the doors. It is my go-to diner in the area, and I've already been here 5-6 times. My go-to is the omelette with spinach and bacon. They cook their omelettes so well and the toast and home fries are distinguishable from other diners in the area that I've been to. Decently priced menu, and the service is pretty quick. Went in here expecting to order decent, local diner food. Although the service here was EXTREMELY quick, then food was subpar. Ordered the Lox bagel for brunch however it was disappointing. There was too much salmon in the ratio, which also tasted a bit fishy. I was hoping this was served with capers, however just onion and tomato and green salad on the side. It was overall an unpleasant dish. Western omelet was decent as well. Nothing special. Better to order from a local deli or bagel shop. Would not recommend it. read more

One of the more unique names you will hear. This is your classic diner with all the fixings. The breakfast is served hot and fast. I went with the omelette and homefries.
