What a great place packed with history. I hear there will almost always be a bit of a wait. Southern cooking at its finest to many of the locals. Pure of heart and loyal to Pigeon Forge's most known restaurant. Of course, I had to give them a try. Gatlinburg is only about 15 mins away. They provide you with biscuits and fried corn fritters. Already a hell, yeah! I chose the 10 oz steak cooked medium rare with fries and green beans. The meal I ordered comes with their famous corn chowder and a side salad with honey mustard. Their corn chowder and corn fritters are awesome! The sweet butter that comes with it.. chefs kiss! The 10oz steak was cooked well. However, nothing special about the flavor or value of the steak. The steak was not very tender and had that rubbery texture. Pretty bland flavor but made it work with A1. Altogether, I loved the ambiance and vibe of this southern styled restaurant that packs so much history and great cooking. I can tell the food is solid, but the steak was not their strongest dish. What a great rustic place. The line is crazy long, that said they have the area wired with a speaker system so you can wander the shops while you wait. Wait staff super friendly!!! Food, amazing. I had the fried chicken breasts and they were the juiciest chicken breasts I've had. Mashed potatoes were real, wished I would have had gravy for them, not sure if that is an option. Obviously a touristy place, but we were in the mood for some southern food. Walking in we were ushered upstairs and seated right away. The place is immense! We arrived early bird early because it was Friday in downtown Pidgeon Forge. We had a little sticker shock, but the portions are huge! (I strongly suggest not eating for two days prior to eating here). All the mains come with corn fritters, soup, salad, mashed potatoes, green beans, your choice of starch and dessert. The mashed potatoes and green beans are all-you-can-eat. They served the corn fritters with a maple whipped butter that was so good it made ya want to slap yer mama! I traded out my soup for the fried okra, which was over fried and dry. I ordered the trout fried (I should have gotten it broiled). It was fried in a cornmeal batter and was fine, but a little heavy for me. My husband ordered the turkey and our kid got the fried chicken. The portion sizes of their mains were enough to feed three people! The fried chicken and turkey was okay. Nothing to holler about. We had our desserts to-go. All that said, we will NOT be returning. (Even though the banana pudding was heavenly). Our server, as sweet as she was, must have forgotten to put our order in. We waited an hour for our food, and watched a twelve top that got seated after us get served faster than us. We saw 3 or 4 tables around us get seated after us get served before us! The 1.5 hour wait was worth it and once seated we had food within 10 minutes. While waiting we roamed the other Old Mill stores where you could hear names being called for seating which was nice. Our server was Kelsey and she was wonderful and very attentive! The rainbow trout was delicious both broiled and fried. The soup came out piping hot. The corn fritters were light and airy and the maple butter pairing was like having corn cakes with maple syrup. I highly recommend stopping to experience Old Mill. read more

We didn't have to wait for a table so that was great. Our waitress wasn't busy with a ton of other tables yet we had to constantly ask her to refills on our drinks. The food was acceptable, but for the price it wasn't anything to be impressed with. The "fruit plate" had a lot of fruit that was spoiling even though the fruit was in season. We stopped in with a large group (about 40 of us). * The service was very friendly! * It didn't take very long for the food to come out. * Restaurant was clean and organized. My wife I decided to share the meatloaf with green beans. In our opinion we both felt it was just ok. Just very little flavor and a little dry. The friend of ours at the table got a slice of pecan pie and we share it with the table. It was very good. * We heard from a lot of people in our group they really liked this restaurant. I've been visiting the pigeon forge/Gatlinburg for the past 40 years and finally made the visit today. The restaurant feels like an old mill for sure. We had a party of 9 quoted 30 wait and took 20 minutes to get seated. Staff was great and actually seemed to want to serve our Party. We all picked the turkey and dressing. Of epic portions. The Old Mill Restaurant feels like a Southern-comfort version of Cracker Barrel - and they've done it way, way better than Cracker Barrel ever has. The portions are gigantic, you get to try a ton of flavors, and the entire place has a lot of personality. We had a really good time here. NOTES: -Surprisingly accessible. Despite the restaurant being on an upper floor of a building, there are multiple elevators that help people navigate the stairs and changes in elevation. The walkways are relatively tight - especially with the large crowds here. However, the staff seems familiar with wheelchair users, and they are able to ask crowds to move or help direct people into spaces that are most comfortable for those who need wider spaces. We saw multiple people in wheelchairs here. PROS: -Sooooooo much food. Soooo much food. No one could finish their food here. -Really attentive staff. Clearly the servers here are used to being ridiculously full because she was pleasant, friendly, and constantly checking in despite bussing more tables than I thought was reasonable. Drinks didn't stay empty long. -Sooooooo many "free" flavors. Even if you plan on getting a standard entree, you get a whole lot of different flavors here. I ended up getting the vegetable platter, and in addition to the entree itself, it came with biscuits, hushpuppies, a small salad, corn chowder, and a free after-dinner dessert. And that's in addition to the standard four choices that come with the entree. It's a TON of food in slimmer portions that really lets you try a ton of stuff. -All of the food was really good too. I wasn't super fond of the pinto bean's style, but that's about it. The meatloaf was great, mac and cheese was super creamy, corn chowder was really good, and the biscuits were lusciously melty. Zero complaints about any of the homemade flavors. -Lots of cool stuff to do after you're done eating. The Old Mill Restaurant is part of the gigantic "Old Mill Historic Complex". There is a distillery, candy store, ice cream store, tons of knick knack stores, and more. Try not to overeat because you'll definitely want to pop into a few of these other stores when you're done. CONS: -If walking isn't your jam, the Old Mill area may not be your favorite fit. Because there are so many businesses here, the parking lots are pretty darned full. There are tons of parking spaces around, but if walking is difficult, you'll have to hope to luck into a parking spot adjacent to the restaurant. Otherwise, expect to walk 1-2 blocks to get to the restaurant. read more

First of all the place is soooo cute! The soups were delicious I got the clam chowder and the bean soup. I preferred the bean soup. Our waitress was very attentive and we sat right by the water. I got the chicken pot pie. It was hot! Took awhile to cool down and I was so hungry. The only negative is I wish the "pie" portion was all around just not on the top. Amazing, just amazing. Wait for two people on a Friday night was around 40 minutes but you could walk around the little plaza and the country store next door to pass the time. We never got in so my review is strictly based on their inconsideration for their guests. Why a very popular restaurant in 2025 would not take reservations or at least have a waitlist is beyond me. I guess they don't care about their customers inside or outside. 1. Vacationers don't want to waste 2hrs of their valuable time waiting to get in, especially when it's 20 degrees outside. 2. With hundreds of people standing around inside the restaurant & out, do they think that makes for a comfortable dining experience for the dopes that actually waited for 2hrs for a table? 3. How about taking a little pressure off you staff, I'm sure it's a great relaxing work environment with this chaos going on everyday. We go here about once a year and normally have a good experience until last night. We went right at 4pm in order to avoid the dinner rush. If there was something negative to say about this place almost every time it's the wait getting in. Sure that's because it's popular but it can get pretty ridiculous sometimes (over an hour). Anyway we were immediately sat at a table so at least it seemed we avoided that since we can early When we sat down there was three other tables around us that were already eating. We sat there for around 15 minutes before we saw a server. By that time the other tables had already finished eating and 2 of them had already left. The waiter apologized because he was "helping fix a problem in the back". By this time another party had sit at the table beside us. He took both our orders at the same time He came back quickly with our drinks so I assumed we were on a better path than we started. We sat there another 10 minutes and they brought the food out for the table beside us but we still hadn't had our salads yet. A few minutes later I flagged our waiter and asked and he said "oh did I not bring out your salads?" No. He brought out our salads and said "your order has been in for a while it should be out soon". After that we sat there and watched the three tables around us finish their dinner and leave. Still not having our food. We sat another 20-30 minutes waiting and our food finally showed up. By the time we finished eating it was 6pm. So 2 hours total time between when we sat down and we finished. It was me my wife and my mother in law. We purchased 3 meals and a kids meal and two of us drank water. Our bill totaled $115. Not the experience I was hoping for. Our waiter was apologetic and I didn't complain to management. I told the server I have shellfish Allergy before ordering. He pointed out what I could get on the menu that would not have cross contamination. After several bites I started feeling swelling in my throat. Took some Benadryl and Allegra and left right away. I smelled shellfish/seafood in the air. If it wasn't for the medication's I probably would've had a full blown allergy right there. I don't know that people understand how severe some allergies are and that it is life or death. I wouldn't go back there again for that reason. The server was great and food was okay. I got chicken dumplings. It's unlimited bowl refill. The Old Mill is one of our favorites! It's way too much food for my husband and I though so we always split a meal and we still waddle out to the car!! Today we took our granddaughter. She ordered the chicken and dumplings. We ordered the pot roast and gravy. Both meals came with a salad, green beans and mashed potatoes. They also came with the corn chowder and those sinful corn fritters. You just can't stop eating them!! We finished off our meal with the dessert that also comes with the meal. We chose the chocolate cake. Like everything else we ate, it was delicious! Our server was Luis V and he was excellent. The Old Mill, with its wooden floors and rustic decor always reminds me of my grandma's house so there's always a sense of comfort when eating here. During our time in Pigeon Forge, TN our first stop was to the section that included the Old Mill Restaurant. It was national grilled cheese day, so it was a BIG day in my book!!! We got upstairs to the entrance and we all decided the menu sounded great and we'd have lunch here. The place was packed! We were sat upstairs with a view of the water. Our server Savannah was amazing! I wish she could be my server every time I eat out. Almost all offerings come with a cup of their corn chowder and corn fritters. The chowder is the perfect consistency. Has the perfect amount of veggies to broth ratio. And super peppery. We all loved it so much we bought soup mix to-go from the general store out front. The fritters were warm, crunchy on the outside, and great with the maple butter. Definitely not a ton of corn inside of the corn fritters we had though. As for main courses I forgot to take pictures of the fried catfish and meatloaf, but both were rated excellent by JD and Diane. As for my grilled cheese. They offer a kids grilled cheese, so for my "adult grilled cheese" they gave me two kid grilled cheese sandwiches! Good ol American cheese on white bread!! I was hoping for something more exciting, more fancy, but as fast as they pump food out of that kitchen, I was happy with any form of grilled cheese that day. Came here on a Sunday party of 3 around 10:30 AM and sat right away from breakfast! The complimentary banana nut muffins and triple berry jam was delicious! I got the raised pecan French toast and bacon and it was delicious , my boyfriend got a plate that came with hash browns eggs bacon sausage grits gravy biscuits and pancakes, which fed him for like 3 meals with the left overs!
