We meant to try the cafe but ended up here. There seems to always be a line here since it's a popular spot. You have to walk past all the people lined up waiting on ramp to go up and get your name on waitlist. The staff advised wait would be 45 minutes and he was dead on. Once our name was called we were seated in an upper section and served by Brett. He did an excellent job attending to our needs and questions. Glad we had such an attentive and helpful server. The restaurant is louder due to the amount of people, but that didn't interfere with our ability to talk and enjoy ourselves. The food is pretty good. The fried chicken wasn't seasoned so I wish I had brought my own. Besides that it's a great value and tasty meal. The desserts were very tasty and I love that it's included with your meal for dinner. We set near the windows so we were able to see the ducks down below waddling around. It was a nice view. read more

This restaurant is one of several buildings. Entering the restaurant feels a bit like going through the queue at Disneyland. We arrived around 5p on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant still had availability. They are very efficient with their process of seating, placing orders, serving and payment). We ordered off of the Southern Fried portion of the menu and asked for the chicken fried steak and the chicken fried chicken. Both came with a corn chowder, side salad, and a basket of corn fritters and biscuits with honey butter to share along with mashed potatoes and green beans followed by a dessert choice. All was great. After hearing other servers with their tables, I realized that our server was providing a bare minimum not giving us all of the options unless we asked. Overall, it was a good place to fill up with good food. Almost everyone left with a to go box, which shows how big the portions are. P.S. Alcoholic beverages are not served here. read more

I have to say this used to be our to go spot when in Gatlinburg. I have been going to the Old Mill for a long time and never experienced this kind of chaos! The former post that stated "rush in, rush out" is absolutely how I felt the day we went! Also the waiter was horrible and was very unattentively, no drink refills, no checking to see if the food was good and it wasn't! I ordered chicken fried chicken and what I received was chicken fried chicken tenders. The waiter didn't come back immediately to check to make sure the order was right, so I started to eat the tenders and they were awful! Desert was so so, not worth the $100+ I paid and we will not be returning. read more

For food I got the chicken tender basket and it was delicious! I also got the chocolate cake and it was almost as good as my grandmas. One of my favorite meals in Pigeon Forge - the portion sizes are HUGE too. I was shocked when the server told me that I got refills on my chicken and dumplings, as well as on the green beans and mashed potatoes. The corn fritters with honey butter literally tasted like donuts - beyond delicious. Every meal also comes with dessert; I chose peach cobbler. The sheer amount of food you get for $25 could feed a family. The overall environment is cozy and rustic, but clean - the bathrooms were pristine. What a great place packed with history. I hear there will almost always be a bit of a wait. Southern cooking at its finest to many of the locals. Pure of heart and loyal to Pigeon Forge's most known restaurant. Of course, I had to give them a try. Gatlinburg is only about 15 mins away. They provide you with biscuits and fried corn fritters. Already a hell, yeah! I chose the 10 oz steak cooked medium rare with fries and green beans. The meal I ordered comes with their famous corn chowder and a side salad with honey mustard. Their corn chowder and corn fritters are awesome! The sweet butter that comes with it.. chefs kiss! The 10oz steak was cooked well. However, nothing special about the flavor or value of the steak. The steak was not very tender and had that rubbery texture. Pretty bland flavor but made it work with A1. Altogether, I loved the ambiance and vibe of this southern styled restaurant that packs so much history and great cooking. I can tell the food is solid, but the steak was not their strongest dish. Pitiful, just pitiful. We ordered our meal, and mind you, the pricing isn't cheap, but just poor. We had our soup delivered and hardly tasted the soup before our meals came with watered down mashed potatoes and had to ask for gravy and he actually took the gravy off another persons tray who declined having gravy. No, I don't want gravy that was brought to another table and then you give to us? It was pretty clear the food isn't freshly made and ya certainly don't bring the main course immediately not giving time to eat the appetizer. Don't waste your money Swanson's T.V. What a great rustic place. The line is crazy long, that said they have the area wired with a speaker system so you can wander the shops while you wait. Wait staff super friendly!!! Food, amazing. I had the fried chicken breasts and they were the juiciest chicken breasts I've had. Mashed potatoes were real, wished I would have had gravy for them, not sure if that is an option. Visiting from FL. We arrived just in time for breakfast. We added our name to the list at 1030. They ended up cutting off breakfast sign ins at 1040. We only waited 15 mins even though thru were packed. My 15 yr old fell in love with their banana nut muffins so we got a few packs from the store to bring home. I grabbed some jellies and gifts from the shop. All our food was amazing and so was our service. We had a table by the window and were able to look at the ducks. The decor was very unique as well. The 1.5 hour wait was worth it and once seated we had food within 10 minutes. While waiting we roamed the other Old Mill stores where you could hear names being called for seating which was nice. Our server was Kelsey and she was wonderful and very attentive! The rainbow trout was delicious both broiled and fried. The soup came out piping hot. The corn fritters were light and airy and the maple butter pairing was like having corn cakes with maple syrup. I highly recommend stopping to experience Old Mill. read more

The food was acceptable, but for the price it wasn't anything to be impressed with. The "fruit plate" had a lot of fruit that was spoiling even though the fruit was in season. My wife I decided to share the meatloaf with green beans. In our opinion we both felt it was just ok. Just very little flavor and a little dry. The friend of ours at the table got a slice of pecan pie and we share it with the table. It was very good. * We heard from a lot of people in our group they really liked this restaurant. We had a party of 9 quoted 30 wait and took 20 minutes to get seated. Staff was great and actually seemed to want to serve our Party. We all picked the turkey and dressing. Of epic portions. The Old Mill Restaurant feels like a Southern-comfort version of Cracker Barrel - and they've done it way, way better than Cracker Barrel ever has. The portions are gigantic, you get to try a ton of flavors, and the entire place has a lot of personality. We had a really good time here. NOTES: -Surprisingly accessible. Despite the restaurant being on an upper floor of a building, there are multiple elevators that help people navigate the stairs and changes in elevation. The walkways are relatively tight - especially with the large crowds here. However, the staff seems familiar with wheelchair users, and they are able to ask crowds to move or help direct people into spaces that are most comfortable for those who need wider spaces. We saw multiple people in wheelchairs here. PROS: -Sooooooo much food. Soooo much food. No one could finish their food here. -Really attentive staff. Clearly the servers here are used to being ridiculously full because she was pleasant, friendly, and constantly checking in despite bussing more tables than I thought was reasonable. Drinks didn't stay empty long. -Sooooooo many "free" flavors. Even if you plan on getting a standard entree, you get a whole lot of different flavors here. I ended up getting the vegetable platter, and in addition to the entree itself, it came with biscuits, hushpuppies, a small salad, corn chowder, and a free after-dinner dessert. And that's in addition to the standard four choices that come with the entree. It's a TON of food in slimmer portions that really lets you try a ton of stuff. -All of the food was really good too. I wasn't super fond of the pinto bean's style, but that's about it. The meatloaf was great, mac and cheese was super creamy, corn chowder was really good, and the biscuits were lusciously melty. Zero complaints about any of the homemade flavors. -Lots of cool stuff to do after you're done eating. The Old Mill Restaurant is part of the gigantic "Old Mill Historic Complex". There is a distillery, candy store, ice cream store, tons of knick knack stores, and more. Try not to overeat because you'll definitely want to pop into a few of these other stores when you're done. CONS: -If walking isn't your jam, the Old Mill area may not be your favorite fit. Because there are so many businesses here, the parking lots are pretty darned full. There are tons of parking spaces around, but if walking is difficult, you'll have to hope to luck into a parking spot adjacent to the restaurant. Otherwise, expect to walk 1-2 blocks to get to the restaurant. read more

Waiter Blake was pretty good! All the staff were patient and friendly despite the crowded and somewhat chaotic atmosphere. Overall, the food might as well be described as mass-produced cafeteria slop. Fast, edible, but loveless and not at all worth the high prices. I suppose they justify the it by serving you large portions. It was all bland and soft yet somehow overcooked. It felt like we paid fine-dining prices just to have dinner at a nursing home. The "seasonal cobbler" was like an artificial blackberry compote topped with dump-cake, and tasted like chemicals. Unfortunately, it was also quite a stomach-churner as we were walking out past the kitchen and saw that it was a pig stye. If you're ok with that, and like the idea of paying for quantity over quality, then come on down. read more
