Ambiance is really the best thing about this place. Their staff was friendly. But we waited 35 minutes for our food. After watching 3 tables that ordered after us receive their food, I asked where ours was at and was told it was next. About 4-5 minutes later our food came out. Cold. Like it's been sitting for 20 minutes cold :/ if they left it on accident, they could've taken 5 minutes to remake and BLT and some French toast. Go a few feet further to Split Rail Eats, you won't regret it! Although the food came out cold, I will say the potatoes, BLT, potato salad and tavern toast were good. But they were all cold. I don't enjoy cold eggs or bacon so they were just a waste of money :/ Paying $50 for a BLT, Tavern Toast adding Eggs, getting our own drinks AND tipping 15% for them to take 35 minutes to deliver our food to us cold IMHO, isn't the characteristics of restaurant I'd promote to others. Had they stated they left it in the window too long and needed to make it fresh and we'd have to wait another 5-10, I'd be leaving a different review. We don't complain, that's why we didn't say anything at the time. We get things get busy and forgotten. Our food was definitely served cold so it was either intentionally left or forgotten. Either way, I don't ask for refunds for this reason. I share my experiences and let others decide how to vote with their wallets and choices. I'm not rude and demand to be refunded. Food Honestly mediocre. While the grits tasted fine--the restaurant signage boasts three kinds of gourmet cheeses--there was a certain lack of polish when it came to the essentials: biscuits, eggs, bacon, home fries. I'll try to provide constructive feedback with my review, because a lot of the "misses" can be rectified easily with some minor changes: The bacon was unfortunately floppy and overly salty/cured. I recommend buying a better cut of meat, and trying the oven-baked method where you can fry up a large batch in short time, while still maintaining a crispy, crunchy exterior. Please do not store the bacon in chafing dishes--that's what's likely causing them to go limp over time... Over-medium eggs were fine. You can't really "mess up" an egg. It was seasoned with pepper and salt. The biscuits were a bit on the cakey side, and I couldn't really tell if they were homemade or bought out of a can. This is opposed to fluffy, buttery and delicious. Again, nothing spectacular, but nothing I would go out of my way to get. There are tons of really amazing biscuit recipes in the wild...some of them are even served up in Los Angeles, where we are from. The gravy on the biscuits and gravy was...very bland. Lacked sausage and flavor. My wife had the pancakes, sausage and home fries/potatoes. The pancakes were fine--pretty big and good with butter and syrup. I agree with a previous review about the potatoes...they "looked" old likely because they were sitting out for a bit, or were prepared ahead of time and quickly heated up. The potatoes were a bit bland and on the mushy side...there are so many ways to make a potato crispy, flavorful and delicious while at the same time serving up portions ahead of time. Service The staff were wonderful--very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere in the kitchen and the service counter was warm and jovial, with people singing country tunes in the back. Ambiance Think "mom & pop shop meets country religious decor". A good amount of seating on the outside, but the inside was a bit cramped, with the counter, decorations and line of patrons taking up a good deal of space. I'm an atheist, but the religious flare wasn't "in your face" compared to other local establishments. I felt welcome like any other patron. A word to the wise: if you need to use the restroom, the keys are hung on the right-hand side of the door, attached to two kid's sized flip flops. read more

I have the pancake breakfast and the pancakes and bacon were fine but my potatoes weren't cooked all the way. They were supposed to be breakfast potatoes and I was hoping for roasted but they were just sliced russet potatoes that looked old. They werent well seasoned either. My partner did not enjoy his food, barely eating his eggs and didn't touch the potatoes. Maybe the good reviews were for lunch? Breakfast is not good here. Do not do online ordering through Yelp / Grubhub. We were really looking forward to getting breakfast here, but unfortunately we never got our order. We received confirmation the restaurant received our order. My husband went to pick up the order during the time frame it was scheduled to be ready and the restaurant staff told him they had no order for us and never heard of Yelp. He mentioned this person was also very rude and did not offer to help in any way. I'm not sure if the problem was on the end of the restaurant or Yelp/Grubhub. I contacted Grubhub and they immediately canceled the order and sent us a refund. The one star review is for the attitude of the staff since I'm not able to rate the food. *** the owner replied to my review noting that they DO NOT accept online orders. I suggest the outside seating area. Menu offers many burgers and some sandwiches options plus breakfast options. Prices average for this area. I got the blue streak burger because I like blue cheese. I got it without bacon and subbed provolone for Jack cheese. I did not pay attention that had hot sauce in description but over was not too hot. The beef and bun high quality. I did not get much blue cheese flavor. The home potatoes are actually cut and boiled and not fried. I did like them has some black pepper and salt. Overall good experience. Came here for brunch while on vacation. Yelp brought us to this adorable Mom & Pop shop. We knew as soon as walked in because it was packed. Parking out front but limited seating. It's counter service but the waitress was nice enough to seat us. She was upfront from the beginning that it was busy and the wait might be long because they operate on two cooks in the kitchen. We were okay with waiting since we're on vacation (yes!!). We got 2 coffees (legit for black coffee). I got the Log Cabin Flapjacks with bacon, easy over eggs and cheese grits (definitely good southern home cooking). The cook was singing the whole time while he was cooking so we were able to be serenaded while we waited. My friend got the Morning Scramblers. He really enjoyed his too.
