We stopped for drinks and dinner on a late Saturday afternoon. We had comfortable bar seats with view of the outdoor deck and great televisions for weekend football the afternoon we visited. Morgan was our friendly personable bartender and the fish sandwich and corn chowder was the best we've had in a long time. Looking forward to going back soon! read more

Have been here a few times without issue, but last Thursday, Sept 26th, a staff member named Mike harassed a friend of mine at the door for multiple minutes. He was commenting on her appearance, claiming that her ID was fraudulent (she offered to show it to the police) and proceeded on useless, sexist power trip while threatening to confiscate her identification. He insisted that she pull up sensitive online information or show her credit card to confirm identity, when he could have just asked a trained police officer to handle the situation if he'd had doubts. When I asked for his name, he told me it was "Paul." Wanting to confirm this identity, I showed an image of him to other Bon Vue staff members, each of whom told me he was Mike. I will refrain from including images of the interaction to protect his privacy. My hope is that management intervenes and prevents this from happening to another young woman. read more

really enjoyed Bonvue. amazing views, food was delicious and our waitress Beth was fantastic.. parking was super easy and convenient. old sailor type bar downstairs if u want to sit and talk old sea fearing tales or just listen to nonsense which is always a must after an enjoyable meal.. Stopped here for lunch on 3/2/24. It's a nice cozy bar with a nice distant view of the ocean. There is always a decent crowd each time I have stopped here when in the area. They have plenty of TVs, 2 pool tables, good sized bar and plenty of tables around the bar. There are obviously normal "regulars" that go here each time I go and always meet someone nice and friendly to chat with. The female bartender, sorry I don't remember her name, is always pleasant, friendly, welcoming, professional and very very efficient with a busy crowd and having to go upstairs to get food. I had the Philly cheese steak and it was delicious and perfectly cooked. The guy next to me had the chili something chicken wings and said they were great. Always a pleasant experience here, nice people, great service and great food. Will definitely be back again when in the area!! read more

The location and layout are what this place has going for it. The service was friendly enough but the food was just not great. Maybe it's my own fault for not ordering seafood?! Although, I did try my friends calamari and found it to be dry, definitely previously frozen and just bland. I would come here again to enjoy the gorgeous views from the bar but would probably not bother to order food. read more

The Bonvue is open again post COVID. The second level deck is not very crowded, has a nice breeze and a pleasant view. Fine place to enjoy a drink and the Summer air. Indoors it's a sparsely decorated version of the old time hang, with the lights up brighter than any nightclub really needs. I think I'll wait on going back inside until the bands are back in town. read more

I visited Bonvue on a Sunday afternoon after spending the day at the beach. I just tried the drinks but from what I could tell the food looked pretty good as well. We sat outside on the deck looking right over the water which was so awesome. It was the perfect day out so this made for a great experience. It was really relaxing after sitting in the sun all day. It's super casual and the server was really down to earth and helpful. I got a strawberry daiquiri that was actually pretty strong for a frozen cocktail. The drive from the beach is super close and could even be within walking distance depending on what beach you go to. I hear that it gets busy here on weekend nights so I'd love to go back to check that out or to try the food! read more

My first and probably last experience at Bon Vue was at college during a costume night on the Halloween weekend. Let me tell ya, if you don't believe the time of night is asking for craziness then the nickname "Bon-Zoo" might just do it for you. There were three floors and (from what I recall) bars at every floor. The bartenders were quick, friendly and calm under the constant orders for beer and other drink specials. The dance floor was situated at the front most section of the main floor. And there are several doors with easy access to the balcony if you ever want to get some nice ocean air. This is definitely the place for URI college students to get crazy wasted at. It was PACKED at every floor--and the stairs are narrow with room for only two people, a single-file line going up and another going down. If you have a personal bubble, leave it at home. You WILL end up getting pressed up against random people who are dancing or passing through. It's going to happen. And you will at some point have someone else's and drink on you. It's inevitable. This is definitely NOT the place to be sober at. In fact, have a friend come by to pick you up or call a taxi. This is the sort of place a complete sober DD would hate to be in. If you looking for a place to get drunk and dance the night away by the ocean then this is the place to be. read more

This place has been around forever. I remember my mother hiring a babysitter to watch us, so she could go dancing at the Bon Vue! I actually ended up working here for a few years, and made some of my best friends here. People would always come in asking if that bartender with the long hair and bracelettes still worked there, and I would reply "yes, his name is Howie, and now hes the owner." Their eyes would light up with excitement after finding out the bottle flipping bartender from the 80's was still around! The crowd here is a mish mash of local fisherman, tourists, and URI students gettin' their drink on. There used to be live music on the weekends, but Im not sure how thats working out these days. Thursday nights is a mad house with URI kids partying their faces off with $1 drink specials, and $2 beers. The regulars at this bar are good people, the bartenders are happy, and will remember your name. AND, this place has a 90 degree view of the ocean. I will be going here until I die. While visiting the Narragansett area in mid-May, we stopped in Bonvue for drinks with a view in the early evening. Their pleasant upstairs location overlooks a bird refuge and we watched a beautiful white swan gliding around the lagoon below, ducking frequently for his/her fish dinner. Service was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. When the husband asked about local micro-brews, the server offered samples. Good wine selection, including several Sauvignon Blancs. Although we had not planned on dinner, we enjoyed our first clam "Stuffy" - yummy, and a crisp, delicious Caesar salad. Lots of outdoor seating for summer, though it was too cool to dine outside when we visited. Thanks to Bonvue staff, for great food and service! read more

Considering I had to give a star I gave one, this place is awful! While the bar may be decently priced and convenient to go with friends, I watched as two male "bouncers" not police officers basically assaulted a young girl. This girl was not being combative or even trying to defend herself as two men a good 250 lbs each threw her to the ground put her hands behind her back and proceeded to scream and hold her down as all of 120lbs of her was not even attempting to move. When she tried getting up they still would not let her go and when they did they decided to then go push her. All of this was recorded on video and I'm sure action will be taken but I would never attend this bar again! read more

Let's start by considering she was told to stay out of the men's lavatory. We don't allow men to use the women's why would we let her use the men's? Immediately she became vulgar and hostile to the bouncers drawing negative attention to herself because she was upset at being told not what to do. After several minutes of verbal confrontation the decision was made by the owner for her to leave and for the Narr. police to be called, not wanting to leave she was then escorted out of the building brought outside in a controlled manner. She then turned to one of the bouncers, raised her fist in an aggressive manner leading them to protect them selves by grabbing one arm each. She then decided to kick her feet out which led to her being sat on the ground. She was then instructed to stand up and leave the premises immediately or face Narr. police. At that time a friend of hers understood what was being done and convinced her to go. We enjoy our Thursday night college night and we like that everyone comes back every week, year after year.
