The "First Date" and the "Peppah Pig"

Great to see Andy stepping up and getting this place in motion! Today I tried five beers and they were all awesome. We tried the First Date and the Peppah Pig pizzas - both awesome out of their own pizza oven. You can try any beer before you decide. Lastly. a really cool atmosphere!

There wasn't much in Tappahannock that fit the bill, so we just decided to try this place. We were more than pleased with our choice. The somewhat drab and unimpressive exterior will fool you: This place is one of the most fun and inviting places you'll ever set foot. There's a respectable selection of beer, good pub food, a wonderful little bier garden, pinball machines(!), and some of the friendliest humans (both staff and patrons) you could ever hope to meet. If I went into specifics, this would be an unreadably long review. So if you yourself in the area, just take a chance on this place, and go. You'll love it. If you don't, I have to think that's on you.

The brewery is large, clean, colorful, spacious and inviting. It's uniquely decorated. Think taxidermy animals on the wall but half car couches. My family really enjoyed out trip to SB. First off, it was a quiet day. The bartender, a young guy, was super helpful. Flights of 10? Made my husband happy. I can't lie, there were 2 beers I wanted to taste. I like sours. The more they are reds and green, I usually like them. I can share the lucky charms one was not for me. The Welch's jelly sour was a win with me! Lots of merch to choose from. My husband got a really interesting scientist hat. Another win- they sell juice boxes for kids! All this place needs is some food. True score: 3.75

There were a lot of drink options, but not many snacks, so if you come here, eat before or have a plan to grab food after. I got the Sapphire Robot, which was sweet without being overwhelming. As someone who doesn't like beer that much, this was perfect. The decor was strange, which works for the name, but it put off my friends. If a ton of taxidermy bothers you, maybe skip it.

We popped in for a casual beer break, and it quickly turned into one of the highlights of the day. The space itself is gorgeous! It's open, airy and designed with a laid-back coastal vibe that fits Cape Charles perfectly. You order both beer and food inside at the counter, which keeps things easy and low- key. I went with the Pilsner, and it was exactly what I wanted, perfect after a day out exploring. Their beer list has something for everyone, whether you're into lighter options or something with a bit more depth. We didn't order food this time, but everything coming out of the kitchen looked incredible. They've got plenty of options like burgers, nachos, and other brewery favorites that definitely seemed worth trying next time. What really stood out was the atmosphere. There was so much going on in the best way. They had a dog adoption event happening outside while we were there, which added such a fun, community-driven vibe. They also host live music and other events regularly, so it feels like there's always something to check out. The outdoor space is huge and perfect if you're with a group or bringing kids. There's a fire pit, games like cornhole, and plenty of room to spread out and hang for a while. Definitely the kind of place you plan to stop at for one drink and end up staying much longer. I will be adding this to my must visit list anytime I'm on the Eastern Shore.

But in fairness, many diners go there for the drinks in the bar food. Their service is stellar from the welcome you get when you walk in the door to the concern and care with which they take make and deliver your order. I think anyone would love this local eatery.

Being a fan of the beers, I really was looking forward to visiting the brewery for lunch. I was a bit disappointed with the experience. We were seated right away and the dining room was only moderately busy. Our server took a long time to greet us. We ordered some beers to start and it took a long time before our beers arrived. Then we waited a while before our server returned to take our food order. When our food finally arrived it was good but not great. The veggie omelette with tots was fair, the tots were seasoned but everything else was not and a bit bland. Similarly the grilled chicken club was just ok. I'd be less critical if the service had been better, but it wasn't. I do recommend the beers. Get a flight and try several. Beers: 5/5 Food: 3.5/5 Service: 2/5
