We went to this Old Shawnee Pizza tonight. I've never considered walking out of a place until tonight. The wait was extremely long - restaurant was not even 1/2 full. We think it was 25 minutes or so after ordering. And the pizza was NOT worth the wait. Funny thing - my grandkids asked me what was my worst pizza place earlier in the day and I told them I couldn't really think of any. Some of the reviews I've read regarding this place slam the quality of the food? I respectfully disagree with those who think the food here is lacking. We went in for a quick work lunch and came out Old Shawnee fans. The decor is rustic. The restaurant is neat and clean. The pizza was excellent. We commented that the crust reminded us of Pizza Shoppe, but we liked the sauce at OSP much, much better. Our server was a little awkward, but the ladies at the check-out were cheery professionals. Don't order a meal deal. Although it is listed on the page as a pizza, breadsticks and a 2 liter of soda you only get a large pizza when you pick it up because "They don't offer meal deals anymore". Maybe someone should look at updating your website or honor the order that was paid for before we arrived. read more

What an horribly managed place. Checked in and was told we could set a booth as our older parents were in town. After setting down, we hear servers discuss how some sections were full and others were not. The then asked us to move to the other side where they also had a louder event starting on the bar side. Never expected such poor unapologetic service. We were told we had to change areas or leave. Since we had our elderly parents we decided to leave. I planned to order a few pizza's for pick up this evening. I called Old Shawnee Pizza in Lenexa 5 times over the course of 1 hour. I let the phone ring from 6 to 15 times, NO ANSWER Ever! Not once in an hour, ridiculous! This used to be a favorite lunch spot for us. I have ordered pizza for pick up successfully in the past. Not answering your business phone or even having a recording saying you were busy helping in store customers, please call back is inexcusable. I never thought I would have to complain about the silverware at a restaurant but after two visits to this restaurant and making a suggestion to the staff that has gone unaddressed, I must say that I'm disappointed with the forks provided to customers. Someone really cheaped out when buying the silverware for this restaurant. The forks are just very thin metal that actually are really uncomfortable to hold in your hand. I know that sounds sort of petty, but when you're visit is rather unpleasant because your fingers hurt because of the fork you're holding I thought it best to leave this review. read more

Pizza is not bad, a little pricey. Thin, flaky crust, if that is what you like. Salad is nothing special, iceberg lettuce, imitation bacon bits, cheese and pepperoni, although the salad dressing does make the salad better. If you are expecting romaine in your Cesar salad, be warned, they use iceberg, or at least they did in my salad this night. Most importantly the service here is horrible! It's taken four bad experiences before I wrote this review. I've really tried to give this place a chance. Dear Server, you take orders without any competency. You act like you don't even want to be there. You walk by empty water glasses and stand behind the bar, chit-chatting. We ordered a beer and you never delivered it. Everytime we have been in you are out of something, you have no knowledge of menu items, you forget to deliver items to the table. What a shame, you are in a great area with plenty of business. Have been to Old Shawnee Pizza a couple times now, and I think that if you want to try one of their Signature Pizzas, you will find some things that you have never seen anywhere else, and can be quite delicious. I have tried the Crab Rangoon Pizza, which like other Crab Rangoons, is pretty rich, but it goes really well with the Sweet Chili Sauce that is drizzled on top of it. Its quite addicting. The BBQ pizzas are good, and I have heard others rave about the Mac N Cheese Pizza, but I have not yet tried that. Im not a big fan of this crusted pizzas, so the thinner crackery type crust is perfect for me. Now, the reason I don't give this place 5 stars, is the "Normal" Pizzas in my opinion are not spectacular but still carry a pretty high price tag for what you get. If you are in the mood for a typical Red Sauce type pizza with Pepperoni, Sausage and traditional pizza toppings, do yourself a favor and go to Minskys or even Papa Murphys is better. But, if you are in the mood for an Exotic Pizza that you won't find at the other said Pizza joints, check this place out. They have some really creative pizza ideas and most seem to be spot on with great flavors. read more

My wife and I had dinner here. We both ordered one of there pasta dishes with a salad. The salad was small for the price but fresh. Both pasta dishes were tasteless and way over cooked. After ordering a pizza from OSP a week earlier, it is clear to me that this place is way overpriced and I'm sure they use numerous coupons programs to balance pricing, value and top line. OSP dip and pizza is awesome! However, the service is absolute trash on the bar side. Waitress told us that they were out of wings, then came back 5 minutes later to tell us that they found a bag shoved in the back of the freezer so she is having some made for us. Wings came out burnt and the chicken on the inside was BLACK! (Not the veins, the actual meat.) I sat without water in my cup for a good 10 minutes waiting to see if our waitress would notice when she was done chatting with her coworkers behind the bar but she never came and said anything. Also, and I know this has nothing to do with the restaurant itself, but PARENTS NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO THEIR KIDS!!!! When we are trying to eat our food and your children are constantly peaking their heads over the booth and staring at myself and making faces at the back of my fiancée's head, it gets old quick no matter what age they are. The food is four stars but their service on the telephone when trying to place an order is one star. I was placed on hold for over five minutes when trying to call in an order. I am not a fan of pizza. My significant other could eat it every day, but when I get pizza, I want GOOD pizza. This is GOOD pizza. Love the crust, not sure if it is New York, or Italian, or Sicilian, or Chicago, or Jamaican style crust, but it is good crust. Wasn't told of any up charges while ordering. 3 medium pizzas later, we had a $81 bill! $6 PER pizza up charge just for the crust. I cannot say enough good things about how well the planning, scheduling and execution of the event went. Tiffany was wonderful to work with and exceptionally accommodating. My wife and I absolutely love Old Shawnee Pizza. I tried to order a pizza online on Aug. 7 but the system was down. So, I called to place the order and was told via an automated message that someone would be with me shortly. The phone rang...and rang...and rang. There was no answer, no automated message, nothing. I tried for 20 minutes to get an answer but still nothing. Finally, I called the downtown Shawnee location and got an answer right away. I was told the Lenexa location location was indeed open but had turned the phones off because they were too busy. Really? I can understand being short staffed but to simply shut down the online ordering system and to let your customers wait on an eternal hold/phone ringing, without any explanation or apologies, is incredibly poor service. We ordered Minsky's that night. We can only hope the poor customer service is improved in the future. Will we return? Probably not any time soon. Very disappointing. read more

We used Yelp to find this because some in our party wanted pizza, some wanted pasta. We have one that loves pizza but can't eat red sauce. They had build your own pizza (which was amazing) with tons of options and several sauces besides red sauce. They had great pasta! They had the best ranch and we are ranch loving people so we've had lots to compare. One of the beat parts of our evening (besides great food) was the magician. He was hilarious and good at his magic tricks. We left full and entertained. The service was excellent as well! This place was a great find and when we are back in town, we will be back! read more
