Cones of nuts! I've had better, but it's a good sweet treat if your walking around the Plaza Del Pasado. On the day I was here hey had peanuts, cashews, and walnuts. The walnuts and cashews seemed to be overcooked. Peanuts were the best. 4 bucks for a small cone. I don't think you'll need more that that. They hand out a bunch of samples so you can decide if you like them or not. There is a Panaderia next to this place with Mexican baked goods including churros. You might want to try that place. read more

I don't know why, but I've always enjoyed snacking on a cone of sweet/candied nuts while strolling and exploring (especially new places). Somehow, sharing this sweet treat makes things more festive and fun. On this occasion (while exploring the shops in Old Town), we shared a cone of sweet cashews. Browsing through shops in old town ans stumbled across this amazing roasted nuts shop. TINA, I believe that's her name, sparked a conversation with us. And her persuasive skills made us buy nuts. I dont regret it, they were so bomb! Now everytime I go to old town ill make sure to stop by here and pick up some cashew nuts. But I will go back just for her! This is a MUST DO in Old Town! Nothing is better than walking into historic old town with the beautiful lights and nice weather and smelling the sweet, warm, sugary smell of almonds, walnuts, peanuts and cashews it's a cheap snack to snack on while you browse shops and wait for your table to be ready at one of the restaurants. While in Old Towne in San Diego, we bought some roasted peanuts from Old Town Roasted Nuts San Diego. Not only was our order great, but the two ladies who were running the stand were two of the nicest ladies I have EVER met. They made a fresh batch just for us just because they wanted to make sure they were fresh. We didn't ask for fresh ones they did it all on their own! While we waited, they kept apologizing for the wait and gave us free samples. They bent over backwards to make sure we were happy. It felt like we were family getting taken care of by one of my husband's aunts! 100% would recommend! read more

I'm so upset to say I had a bad experience with the rude lady who was working there yesterday. My family and I took a trip to San Diego just to get away and wanted to check out the Old Town Historic park. My cousin, who's only 13 years old was trying to buy a soda for herself and for my grandma and the lady rudely said "we don't sell drinks here, go somewhere else". My cousin asked if they atleast sold water bottles and the lady said no then changed her answer and said yes but they're hot and my cousin went ahead and still bought them. The lady pulled out the waters from a cooler, so they were cold drinks when she first said they didn't sell drinks and when she said they did then said they were hot when they were actually cold ???? She pretty much didn't want to sell to us and was trying to get us to leave. Bad service. read more

Maybe I'm a little bias considering my friend owns the business, but their nuts are amazing! They have a cinnamon, vanilla, and sugar glaze that is roasted many times daily onto a variety of nuts. Products include roasted almonds, pecans, macadamia nuts, cashews, and probably a few I can't remember at the moment. Personally, I have to recommend the macadamia nuts (A favorite of my girlfriend and I). You can find them right at the entrance to Plaza Del Pasado in Old Town San Diego. You can even get a picture taken in front of their old town backdrop they created to remember your margarita filled "Sunday fun-day". I love this sweet treat from San Diego. I get them every time I visit the city. Now I can order them and have them shipped to my home, so awesome. Stopped by the stand about 7:40ish tonight, tried a couple varieties and were recommended walnut, and when we were sold on it were told that it wasn't ready and had to be made. She said it would only take 15 minutes, and as we had dinner planned nearby at Barra Barra we asked when she closed. She said she closed at 9. Cool. We paid for 3 cones and said we'd be back after our meal. We ate our dinner and returned at 8:20 to find the shop completely closed up and she was nowhere to be found. How do I get my $10 back? I've always had such a wonderful time at the Fiesta de Reyes and this was a huge letdown. read more

This vendor stand sits at the entrance of Fiesta Del Reyes. Often times you get a friendly greeting and offering of sample roasted nuts, some are sweet and some salty, depends on the day. Normally their nuts are pretty good, but for the price it could be better. read more

Tina is great and offers a sample of these delicious treenuts she sells. She was offering as a sample... cashews glazed with vanilla and cinnamon and I walked around the beautiful old town area and shopped and ate my snack then returned for more. The best deal is everything; but money wise it is the biggest container which is $10. I will be looking for you upon my return from Atlanta Tina! read more

Just walking by the stand is enough to lure you in with it's fabulous aroma! As a San Diego local I get down to Old Town several times a year, and I always make a point of getting my supply of nuts when I'm there! For those who require their nuts good and crispy, just a few minutes in a hot oven on a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper does the trick! read more

I decided on the Malibu Beef Burger which was cooked to perfection and was such a great burger with a tad of mess (which is what makes a burger the best!) They don't offer french fries but roasted potatoes or mashed potatoes so I chose the roasted ones. They were so good and there was also a lightly dressed arugula salad, which was a perfect side! Wife got the Stop Light Trio tacos which comes with three tacos (the green-chicken, raw brussels, cilantro crema, the yellow-butternut and spaghetti squash with a mango habanero salsa, and the red-hanger steak, pickled cabbage, onion, and salsa roja). She loved the yellow one best followed by the red one but I'm all for the green one...it was delicious!). And we had to splurge with a piece of their grilled chocolate cake...yup grilled! We were told that the cake was torched around the sides and it creates a nice toasty edge. So decadent and thick and rich and lots of chocolate! Unfortunately, the build-up ended up being better than the actual dinner. Save yourself the stress and rideshare. Now, this is where I have mixed feelings because the service before we even arrived was absolutely brilliant. We were celebrating my friend's birthday, and I had a cake delivered through Instacart ahead of our reservation. The restaurant was SO on top of their communication. They even messaged me personally to let me know the cake had been delivered and was there waiting for us. When we arrived, my friend had a personalized birthday menu with their name on it, which I thought was such a thoughtful touch. Between that and the communication about the cake, I was thinking, "Oh yeah, they are ON IT. Tonight is going to be amazing." Unfortunately, that level of service did not continue throughout dinner. Our waitress was nice, but we had to remind her about things multiple times. We waited quite a while for our bread and had to remind her about it. The bread ended up being comped because of the wait, which I appreciated, but later she also completely forgot my margarita. For an upscale steakhouse, the service just wasn't as attentive as I expected it to be. Now let's talk about that bread because PLEASE, please, please get the bread. It came out warm and fluffy, and the butter complemented it perfectly. I had seen pictures of it beforehand, and it absolutely lived up to them. Honestly, it was one of my favorite things we ate. I believe it was around $9, and while I personally think bread should be complimentary at a steakhouse at this price point, I would still order it again because it was THAT good. We skipped appetizers because nothing really jumped out at us and went straight into our steaks. My friend and I split the 20 oz Bone-In Ribeye, and my other friend ordered the 14 oz New York Strip. We asked for both steaks to be sliced, but only the ribeye came sliced. I was also surprised by the size of the 20 oz ribeye. I've ordered 20 oz bone-in steaks at other steakhouses, and this one looked noticeably smaller than what I was expecting. Between the two of us, I think we each got around three slices. For a 20 oz steak that we were sharing, it just didn't feel very substantial. When it came to the sides, though, WE CLEANED UP. We ordered the Mushroom Fricassée with wild mushrooms, garlic and thyme; Dirty Hash Browns with trout roe and crème fraîche; Mac & Cheese with fontina and herbed breadcrumbs; Grilled Asparagus with sauce vert, lemon and amaranth; and the Potato Purée with butter and chives. And this is what makes the entire experience so frustrating: the food was actually delicious! The flavors were there. The sides were good. The steak tasted good. We genuinely enjoyed the taste of what we were eating. But almost everything was COLD. And I don't mean, "Oh, I wish this was a little warmer." I mean our food was cold. We spent around $350 on dinner, and somehow our meal came to the table cold. When they brought our steak out, we were specifically warned, "Be careful, the plate is hot." I remembered the warning at first, but later I went to move the plate with my bare hands and realized...the damn plate wasn't even hot. A manager came over and asked how everything was, and we told her exactly that: the food tasted delicious, but it was cold. She asked if we wanted anything reheated. Reheated?! That response really threw me off. At an upscale steakhouse, after ordering steaks and five different sides, I don't want my dinner reheated. I want it to come out hot the first time. And that really sums up my experience at Born and Raised. I think it was so disappointing because I was SO excited about going. I want to be fair and say this was NOT bad food. The bread was fantastic. The sides had great flavor. The steaks tasted good. The personalized birthday menu was adorable. Their communication before our reservation was excellent, and the way they handled my friend's cake genuinely made me feel like they cared about making the birthday special. That's why I'm so conflicted. Everything leading up to dinner screamed top-tier experience, but once we actually sat down and started eating, everything became very lackluster. Having to repeatedly remind our waitress about things, having my margarita completely forgotten, one of the steaks not being sliced as requested, and then having an expensive spread arrive cold just did not match the level of restaurant Born and Raised presents itself to be. For a roughly $350 dinner at an upscale steakhouse, I don't think expecting attentive service and hot food is asking for too much. I really, REALLY wanted to love Born and Raised. Unfortunately, for me, it just did not live up to the hype.

The only way you could dispose of your trash was giving it to a worker which was inconvenient because there are a total of 2-3 workers who are always busy because of the long line. For the double matcha the matcha foam is super fluffy and creamy. Matcha on matcha was what I needed to fuel my soul. The pistachio was a dream. Rich, nutty, velvety, and creamy. I keep saying I will try their coffee next time but I am a sucker for matcha that's for sure.

You can even buy the pretzels online and frozen, so that you can just heat them up when you're in the mood for carbs lol. Everything was sold in large amounts. We picked up some items such as jawbreakers, candy cigarettes, Big League Chew, and Now and Laters. I did wish some times came in more of a variety pack and that others came in slightly smaller portions. We did decide to buy some of the items elsewhere because we simply didn't want that much of one flavor of a certain type of candy. I think it is a great place to buy candy in bulk, though I do think the variety could be a bit better. All in all, it was a useful trip for us to prepare for our event.

Point Loma in San Diego you are super lucky to have this little market in your community and you can't beat the location next to liberty market and all the great food and drink and shopping to be had there.
