Popped in on a Saturday morning to a nice crowd. The flow seemed a bit chaotic as a first timer. I wanted to look at the items in the case, but there were team members directing customers to the far left register which interrupted my view. They utilize a process in which a team member works the line taking orders and then directing you where to be rung up. The clunky ordering process aside, the food was top-notch. The SEC was great. Some hot sauce will take it over the top. The donut (which I believe is baked), is flavorful (give it about 20 secs on medium power to do it justice). Big fan of the pretzel too. I have stopped here twice and loved everything I have tried. It is a small location but lots of options of baked goods. I will say if you come in the afternoon they may be out of quite of few of the items. So far we have tried croissants, scones and some of the breads. You walk in and someone is pretty quick to help you out but they are very friendly because the first I was a bit overwhelmed with the choices but they never made me feel rushed. I also picked up some of the garlic butter and it was divine. A great place with freshly baked good and very worth a visit. The prices are really affordable too. I always love finding nee bakeries when I travel. We placed an order online 48 hours before we would be picking up. Our order included chocolate chip cookies, coconut macaroon, blueberry scone, seeded bread, cinnamon roll, lemon donut, apple cider donut and the gluten free shortbread blueberry bread. I can't help but say we were incredibly disappointed with each and everything we ordered. The chocolate chip cookies were lacking flavor and didn't have many chocolate chips. They are big but not big in taste. The donuts were definitely not donuts and like more cake. They weren't good at all. The scone was dry and too airy. The blueberry bar was just okay as was the bread. The coconut macaroon cookie was decent. The bread wasn't very firm and broke easily. Something just felt off about all the baked goods. We've been to Old World Bread many times, However this past weekend we hosted a brunch with goods from OWB that were so amazing I had to leave a review. I ordered over the phone as I was late ( online ordering requires 48 hours) and was able to secure everything I wanted for our guests. We had a bacon and caramelized onion quiche, it was unbelievable Friends who say they don't care for quiche ate it up! Coffee cakes, cinnamon rolls, lemon donuts (!) and gluten free blueberry lemon crunch bars completed my order. When I say everything was amazing ~ I mean amazing! The flavors couldn't be beat. This small take out bakery is located right off of the Nassau reserve trail. When we walked in at 7:30am on a Sunday it was already quite busy, but there were plenty of staff and multiple people asked if they could help us immediately. It's a little bit confusing if you've never been there because there's no number system or anything, an employee just kind of claims you and starts filling your pastry order. They were very nice and I heard them explaining things to other customers. They had a wide variety of pastries, cookies, breads, pies, sandwiches, and even an açaí bowl. We also got coffees which were actually quite good (just plain americanos). So onto the pastries themselves. I'm a sucker for lemon so of course I had to try the lemon donut and it did not disappoint. It was a lemon cake donut, no filling or anything but it was fluffy and lemony and delicious! My go to way of judging a bakery though is to get a plain croissant. I could tell even at first glance that these were no Parisian croissants and then when we cut into them, they just kind of smushed down because they were a bit dense. A really good flaky croissant should crumble inward when you try to cut into it or break it apart, and you should hear that croissant crunch. Usually if a croissant is dense rather than light and airy, it means that the dough wasn't allowed to rest long enough. But that's more just a texture thing, and despite being a little dense the croissant still tasted good! I also tried the cinnamon roll, and it was a little dry, but would have been great to dip in my coffee. I look forward to going back for lunch or maybe one of their breakfast sandwiches or strawberry shortcake! read more

A friend suggested we stop at this small bakery to grab lunch and snacks before heading to Cape Henlopen on a recent Saturday afternoon --- and it was delicious!! Located just off of Route 1 near Lewes, Old World Breads has plenty of parking, but they are also along the bike trail, so there were a lot of cyclists stopping for lunch and snacks as well. They offer a vast selection of freshly baked breads and pastries, all of which looked delicious! BF ordered their roasted turkey BLT sandwich on their yummy multigrain bread, and I opted to try their vegan handpie stuffed with sweet potatoes and lentils, which was excellent. We couldn't resist trying a few cookies, ordering an oatmeal raisin and a brown butter sandwich cookie, both of which were yummy --- we avoided chocolate based cookies because we knew they'd be out in the heat for a bit, but looking forward to trying those in the future. We'll definitely plan to stop here on future beach trips! read more

I was excited to go for a specialty bread shop. The service was good and their offerings were numerous. Loved the layout and the huge glass showing all the breads. I got a baguette and a cranberry loaf. The quality of the bread is not the complaint, it's that they sell old loaves. The baguette was rock hard and even toasting with butter in a pan couldn't help it. And the cranberry loaf had been refrigerated.
