Olde Dutch restaurant puts others buffets to shame. I come here prepared to eat amazing home cooked meal while enjoying every bite! I came a little later for lunch buffet around 1:15 pm. I was seated right away. Barely a line each time i went up to make a plate. They offer gloves at the beginning of the buffet. I appreciated that! I did miss having the peanut butter on the table. As well, no straws at all. Especially during covid time i dread drinking a cup without a straw. I know its not the restauant fault for the straws not being on the truck but perhaps ordering extra each time and stocking up for times like this would help! Staff always very friendly. Always a clean facility. This place is located in heart of Logan close to many fun adventures such as canoeing, ziplining and hiking. Great place for large family. They always have a menu to order off of in case you do not want the buffet. They also offer a breakfast and a dinner buffet. Quiet and cosy atmosphere with amish cooking. When you advertise as Amish Restaurant why did you serve boxed and processed food? Pork was dry, it was like eating shoe leather. The rest of the buffet was sub par and edible. We stopped by after some hiking in Hocking Hills to check out something more local and unique than a chain restaurant. And never ate at an Amish-inspired place so why not? We were also famished and went for the buffet, so part of this review may be a bit skewed because we were so hungry. Some things were really good, some were okay, but nothing was bad. They had the "essentials" of a buffet, with some soup, salad bar, vegetable dishes, pasta/noodles, and various meats. The salad section was basic, so nothing to really say bad there. Nothing was old and wilting or anything. The vegetables were a hit and miss in a way, either made into some sort of casserole/dish with extra flavor or literally straight out of a can (e.g. green beans). The meats section was probably their best section for the main course stuff. We personally really liked the fried chicken and pot roast. Chicken was hot and crispy, the roast was tender and didn't need a knife to break it into pieces. I'd have to say the dessert was the best part. So...many...pies!! If I noticed the pie table earlier I may have legit skipped the regular food and ate a bunch of pie for my buffet meal. A ton of variety! We tried coconut cream and chocolate cream, we loved both of them. The ice cream also looked delicious, but we were too full to try it at that point. Overall, if you come here hungry you won't be disappointed with the buffet considering the good lunch price. Logan, OH is where Hocking Hills is located, so there are plenty of tourists - myself included. That means you can expect pricier meals. So no surprise that the Friday dinner buffet is about $14. However, it was one of the best stocked buffets I've ever been too. Not very vegetarian friendly, but it's like a Thanksgiving dinner with homemade mashed potatoes (yum), turkey, variety of meats, brussel sprouts, and then random buffet items like buffalo wings and General Tso chicken (actually quite good!). But some of the food is bland. It's a buffet, after all. And dessert, oemgee. ALL THE PIES. Coconut and apple were great. They also had strawberry and boston creme. Then 6 flavors of Blue Belle ice cream and fresh fruit (incl strawberries). The salad bar was also great with raspberry vinaigrette dressing. It's also attached to a gift shop. Next to it is some random FARM ANIMAL PLACE. THERE ARE DEER YOU CAN PET AND GOATS! And you can feed them and its all free!! read more

The buffet was really good! .. my favorite was the chicken livers and the grilled Brussels sprouts.. as soon as you walk in there is a gift shop so tourist trap and you have to walk through it before you pay.. pie wasn't as fresh as we had hoped and the server seemed a bit more interested in the tip she was receiving from the big party near us, all in all it was pretty good! .. they have goats and deer around the side you can feed and pet which was neat and my daughter really enjoyed it! read more

It's been 20 years since my last visit to the Olde Dutch. It was just as great as I remembered it! The buffet is excellent. It offers plenty of salad items--all of which looked great (and who doesn't love baby corn?). But the stand-out at the buffet is the meat section. Your chest will ache with longing when you first lay eyes on Olde Dutch's famous broasted chicken, meatloaf, sausage and peppers, cape shark, ham, chicken livers, pork ribs, and more. Superb! Don't miss out on the mac & cheese. And be sure to hit the dessert bar to top off your heart-healthy buffet adventure with a huge sugar spike. Our party of 9 very much enjoyed our buffet lunch while we were on our little Spring Break getaway. Our server was very friendly, as was all the customer service we received! Our server did amazing with keeping our drinks refilled, was mindful about our kids' ages to make sure she didn't overcharge us and even got all 9 pie orders correct at the end! The food on the buffet was so delicious. It was clean and we appreciated the sanitizer at the beginning. The salad bar had all the toppings you could want, the homemade ranch was amazing and the salads (macaroni, crab) were also very tasty. The hot part of the buffet was incredible. Perfectly cooked crispy fried chicken, the fish nuggets (delightful surprise, breading was perfectly seasoned), Brussels sprouts (wow! Cheesy, roasted & perfect!), homemade mashed potatoes, various meats and veggies....the rolls! All at a great price. It was all so, so good. We look forward to our next visit for sure! read more

It's just not the same post COVID. I used to eat here all the time, but the job that had me on the road in the Logan area ended due to COVID, so I hadn't been there in a couple years. It's a 3 hour drive from my house. A friend needing a ride to Nelsonville was my excuse. It wasn't the same. It wasn't terrible, just... The buffet selection wasn't what it used to be. It wasn't a terrible selection, but they didn't have the broccoli casserole, didn't have the mac n cheese (I even overheard another customer complaining about that, to which the waitress responded that they were getting a lot of complaints about that specifically but the kitchen 'just wasn't cooking it'), they had a couple mystery meat & pasta casseroles, and worst, the whole soup and dessert bar, completely gone. They now bring you one slice of pie complimentary with a buffet order. Not the same at all, incredibly disappointing. But the food they did have wasn't as good either. The chicken livers were kind of... gummy. The broasted chicken was very bland, no taste of seasoning in the fry or the meat. The roasted brussels sprouts were greasy and didn't taste of garlic or Parmesan. The various stewed meats were good, the mashed potatoes and gravy were still good, the salad bar was still good. Pre-COVID this place was easily in my top ten restaurants of all time. Post-COVID, I really thought about bringing the rating all the way down to a 3 because of how far they've slipped. That 3 wouldn't be fair though. They're still good. If they were close to home I'd probably still be a regular. Basically I'll put it like this. Okay, we came here with very low expectations. My first impression was that this was a place where older couples might come out to eat after church to eat bland, soft food. I couldn't be more wrong. Every single bite was delicious. The buffet was clean, the food was fresh and frequently rotated, and the flavors were unbelievable. The rolls are unbelievably soft, the salad bar had an incredible variety, the pot roast melted in my mouth, the fried chicken had the perfect crisp, the meatloaf tasted homemade, the brussels sprouts were perfectly done, and the macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, and sweet potatoes tasted like Thanksgiving! If I lived in the area, this would be a weekly spot for dinner. I loved that every meal came with a dessert - I had mint chocolate chip and my husband had a piece of apple pie with vanilla ice cream. I was not expecting much from the Olde Dutch, given it is a buffet, and advertised on billboards in the area. But there aren't many other non-fast-food options in Hocking Hills, and we were ready for a big meal after several miles of hiking all morning. The buffet is wonderful! They have numerous options, and everything is very fresh and well-stocked. Never was any container empty or even lacking. This is one of the best buffets I've ever been to. At lunch it's only $10.99 and a great deal at that. Dinner is a few dollars more. If desserts are your thing, you'll enjoy the many different pies, and ice cream available on the buffet. Service is great, too. I will definitely eat here again next time I'm in the Hocking Hills area. I am already looking forward to more of some of the best chicken livers! read more

Firstly, in response to the review left by Wally S, I feel I need to correct him on a few things. He was surprised this was a buffet, even though on billboards it says buffet. He also said the buffet looked to be thrown together. This is one of the better buffet layouts I've seen. Lastly, he referred to "mystery meats". Each item on the buffet is labeled, so maybe Wally can't or doesn't read. Now, to my review. We've gone here well over a dozen times since moving back to Ohio almost 18 years ago. We have never had a bad meal, always getting the buffet. Service has always been amazing as well. If you're in the mood for lean foods this is NOT the place for you. They serve honest Amish items at good prices. My grandmother, who was raised in PA Dutch country would've loved this place. They also have a very nice gift shop and are currently remodeling the front entrance area. They do great business, so if you're in the area you really should stop in. read more

We decided to try here during a stay at a nearby campground and it was just what you would expect from this setup. The buffet was $15 and entrees from the menu were 7-8. I went with the buffet and the wife went with the salad bar and liver and onions. We were both happy with the value on our items. If you are looking for tons of interesting flavors then this isn't your spot but if you want some asked potatoes and noodles or roast beef and fried chicken then this is a solid choice.
