We had a short notice 50th bday party for my sister. I live out of town and needed to order a cake faaast. I googled bakeries in Turlock, Ca and Olde Tyme Pastries was the first one that popped up. Anyways.... I was in contact with Maria the whole time (very pleasant & kind), since I couldn't physically make it in the shop to speak with the cake decorator to let him/her know what design I wanted, I explained what I wanted with Maria and she exceeded my expectations and beyond what I wanted. The cake was so beautiful but yet so simple which is what I wanted. It was so convenient that they had the black ribbon, rhinestones and gold leaves on hand (extra charge) other bakeries didn't have those decorations on hand, I had to purchase separate and walk them in. The cake was Red Velvet w/cream cheese filling and both White and Red Velvet buttercream mixed together. So so yummy!!! Our guests LOVED it so much, it was a BIG hit and hot topic at the party. Thank you so much Maria & Olde Tyme Pastries!!!! We will be ordering again!!!! The price was a very BIG plus for a 16 inch round and was right in my budget! I couldn't imagine buying desserts anywhere else. Ever since I was a kid, so 20 years I have always had a cake, frog cookie, or some type of dessert ordered from here for my birthday. Between the coffee, pizza bread, cookies, cakes you can't ever go wrong. The customer service is great too!! Me and my family have been going here for years for cakes and other stuff they are always delicious . The cakes are always what we ask for. But one time for my sister's birthday we got a cake with sprinkles on it it was really hard on top the frosting was but,they replaced it with a new cake just in time for her actual birthday. We love this bakery. They have a chocolate cream cake with chocolate flakes that's to die for. We also love their cinnamon bread that actually has a nice cinnamon swirl on each slice. Okay I had 24 cupcakes made for me TWO DAYS after Christmas to get for an event and they did it for me!! I had heard such amazing things about this bakery so I gave it a shot and they were able to accommodate my request. I actually got a reply from the owner. I think, in her defensive posture, she missed the point of my review. Its this simple.....investing in a return customer instead of making them bare the cost of an "out of season" order, (by the way limes are not out of season and are available everywhere) is a sure way to leave a "bad taste" (pardon the pun). One can insist they are in the right all they want, but the initial review is based on real life experience. The past few years, they have been branching out a bit, and offering more versatile designs and offerings, such as macrons; despite this, there is a soft spot in my heart for their chocolate mice and coffee cakes. *The only caveat, and reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is due to the slow service and occasional order mishaps. read more

Best bakery in the valley! My hubby and I drive up from Fresno just to enjoy a nice glacier (their version of the frappaccino, but WAY better) and delicious fresh pastries. They have the freshest ground coffee and espresso, and the freshest pastries and cakes and home baked bread. We love this place and the 1 1/2 hour drive is totally worth the quality and amazing service. Wish we had a bakery close to this one in Fresno but there aren't any comparable anywhere. Called my order in late Monday afternoon. Picked it up Tuesday morning, early, taking only 3 minutes to handle the transaction. I ordered a cake for my son's 2nd birthday. It was exactly what I ordered. You can never go wrong with the fruit basket cake. It's absolutely delicious!!! It's a light sponge cake with three layers, the fillings are fresh fruit (pineapple, strawberry, and banana). We kept getting compliments from all our guests on how good the cake was. Hubby & I love this bakery! We had lunch there today and everything was great! Best of all the employees are all super nice as well. When they brought us our food, they gave our son a free cookie which was sweet. We also inquired about having my son's birthday cake made there and Briann was very helpful in explaining our options and after we discussed it she stopped to show us even more options, making us feel like she really did want to help us in getting exactly what we wanted for my son's special day. Their customer service is what really sold us on ordering his cake frm there, but on top of all that I feel like they are affordable for the detail they put out. We're just very excited to come back. The only negative is that all their yummy treats are not good for my diet whatsoever :( wish we could buy a dozen cupcakes every week. read more

Have been coming here for years and would recommend their pastries, but not their cakes. wanted a birthday cake for my 1 year old son. $80 for a 10" round cake that doesn't include any filling or colored frosting. If you want filling and colored frosting it's extra! if you want any designs, besides just writing, it's extra! I was very excited to come to the bakery today with the family. This trip was great until the family got greeted at the counter. We came all the way from Fresno to pick up a couple of pies. My husband asked the lady that was helping us how many pineapple pies they baked a day her answer was "SEVERAL" under her breath. My husband also asked what toppings were on the different pastries, her response was overall very rude. What if we had food allergies. I don't want to bring race into it but I felt like we got treated differently from the rest of the customers. We grabbed more then the two pies we ordered. And to top it off after we picked our goodies and got to the register, my elderly father in-law who is a Vietnam veteran was questioned about his identification to get a discount. He's old we don't allow him to carry a wallet for personal reasons. My husband let the cashier know his sister had their fathers ID. The customer service was horrible, the pastries made up for it. I recommend employees that are much more approachable at the front counter. We didn't get the feeling of being invited. read more
