This was our first visit as we are looking for an alternative to Capital grill and the old Rocco's. Our experience started with a reservation for a high-top table in the bar area, upon arrival we were told that they had none and it would be an hour, then they tried to seat us in the middle of the main entrance. The manager did come down and offered a table for 6, which we to going to take until we saw 2 bar seats at the bar. The bar service was very chaotic, but a very nice guy. I ordered the calamari for an appetizer and found it rubbery. I then ordered a rib eye, and my wife ordered the filet. I guess my expectations were too high for what is advertised as an upscale steak house, the steak was 3/4" thick and overcooked, my wife was under cooked and flavorless. I hate to say it, but I have had better steaks at Texas roadhouse, the positive is that at least I had a gift card that covered 2/3rds of the bill and I did find free street parking. read more

Tomato Mozzarell: Tomatoes were tasteless and far from ripe and the Mozzarella was hard and rubbery. An appetizer was forgotten, the sweet potato soufflé was not a soufflé. The Scallops Entree was " good ". The seating in the bar was comfortable and the staff was professional. Its is overpriced for the quality of food. There are much better restaurants in the area. This place is super neat as it used to be an old church and was turned into a bar. The staff are so welcoming and kind, but the bar was empty! We were so confused since the entire town was packed for labor day but then noticed google states that it is fine dining. Its got good food and great cocktails, however, they should reconsider the term as it definitely has a very casual vibe inside and may turn people away from coming by stating it is fine dining. The old fashioned was soooo good and we shared a small cheese plate since we had already eaten a late lunch. Def will return now that I know I dont have to wear a dress to get in! read more

We were visiting new hope & staying next door at the Logan inn. I had read reviews prior to coming in yelp & wanted to try. I called same day for reservations & they were able to accommodate 4 adults 2 children 1 child on high chair. Service was great & our waitress was very friendly. She made great recommendations. My husband and I decided to split so I got the crab cakes & he got the cowboy rib eye 20oz! Plenty of food. We also had a baked potato loaded on side & my crab came with asparagus. What a wonderful experience! I truly don't understand the lower ratings. Our service, first and foremost, was excellent. Upon check-in, we were offered coat check, then escorted right away to our table upstairs. We were then immediately greeted by one of our two (2) servers, who offered us complimentary champagne for our anniversary. The service was attentive all evening, never letting our water or wine glasses run half full. As for food, everything was great - starting with the complimentary bread (though the odd # of pieces was a little strange.) We had one half dozen of oysters, which our server described exactly. Our steaks were perfectly cooked/as ordered, and were flavorful, as were our sides (Brussels/bacon and truffle parm fries - get both!) My only reason for not giving 5 stars was the cook on my lobster tail- it was slightly undercooked and the old bay seasoning was not necessary / should've been optional. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised by especially given the other reviews. The food was close to perfect and the service was excellent from start to finish. Went without reservations on a Saturday night and had no problem snagging a seat in the bar area. Had a large selection of Irish whiskey and made an excellent dirty martini. Service was friendly and the couple apps we got arrived quickly. We got a half dozen oysters and the calamari. Calamari alone would have been worth a return trip! I don't usually write reviews, but this experience was bad enough to warrant one. My boyfriend and I are locals and have enjoyed sitting at the bar at Oldestone before, which made this visit even more disappointing. We arrived at 9:00 PM on a Friday (they close at 11), and the experience immediately started off poorly. The hostess was slouched over the stand on her phone and didn't even acknowledge us when we walked in. In any halfway decent restaurant, that first interaction sets the tone, and this one did, just not in a good way. We seated ourselves at the bar, where things only got worse. The bartender (older man with a long gray ponytail, possibly Mike) was inattentive and disorganized. Despite the bar not being full, it took a while to even be greeted. When he finally took our drink order, he disappeared to chat with other guests and then came back several minutes later because he had forgotten what we ordered. We placed our food order. French onion soups, steak frites, and a cheesesteak, and then waited. And waited. After 45 minutes with no food or updates, he finally checked on us, at which point it was obvious he had never put the order in. The soups came out about 10 minutes later and were burnt. Our entrees never came at all, those were apparently forgotten and never entered either. At 10:30, we gave up, paid, and left hungry and frustrated. It's honestly unacceptable for a restaurant charging these prices to deliver this level of service. This wasn't just a small mistake, it was complete negligence from start to finish. Oldestone failed on every level, and we will absolutely not be back. read more

We had dinner here while visiting New Hope, PA. It's a restaurant located in an old church although there were no religious themes - other than the base architecture. The wine-by-glass selection was decent. Based on the steak prices, this a higher-end restaurant. My wife ordered the smallest cut as she can only eat some much - a 12ox filet mignon if I recall. She enjoyed it. I was going to order a 16oz NY strip steak which was $65. The waiter suggested the "Butcher's Cut' - also a strip steak. I don't recall the differentiation, but it wasn't much. He didn't mention the price and I didn't ask. I was a bit surprised to see a $95 charge for it on the bill. Other than that, the service was excellent. If you need to talk to someone here, call their number. There are multiple choices on the phone tree (reservations, staff member, Events, business office). It doesn't matter how many attempts or what time of day you try (over 2 days I tried many times to all options on the phone tree around 11:30am and 4:30pm)......no one will EVER answer the phone. Now I have 18 hungry and thirsty people on an expense account eating next door at the Logan (they answered on 1st attempt). i have to wonder if this laziness extends to cuisine or hygiene. read more

This was my first visit back to Oldestone in a while, and it was, at best, mediocre. First the good: the dining room is impressive, and the service, both our server and the assistant were efficient, helpful and attentive without being on top of us, just as it should be. The food is where the restaurant loses points. Four of us dined on a Sunday at 5. The place was mostly empty (we were one of only four tables occupied). The lamb chops came well-done despite being ordered as pink, the filet mignon was underdone, nothing special, not much taste, and the pork chop was dry. Nothing was sent back because no one wanted to be the person who feels like they're making the rest of the party wait for something else to be prepared. I asked that the chef not add any salt to my meat when cooking, but it was extremely salty anyway. The four of us shared two desserts, the 24 carat cake and the bread pudding. Both were dry. It's a restaurant where nothing comes with a side; all sides are a la carte. For a place that charges such high prices, and everything is a la carte, the food should be as close to perfect as possible. I don't mind paying high prices for good food and a good experience, we do it all the time, but there are many other restaurants in the New Hope area that are excellent. Disappointing Experience at Oldestone Steakhouse in New Hope Pa. I had high hopes for our visit, especially after hearing great things about this place. Mason, our server, was fantastic, and the Gothic decor was stunning. We started with oysters and the Old Fashioned Bacon appetizer, both of which were excellent--especially the bacon! We splurged on the $320 tomahawk ribeye special, which came with two lobster tails, shrimp, cornbread, fingerling potatoes, and a side. While the steak was great, the lobster tail was tasty, the shrimp was good , and the cream spinach and fingerling potatoes were pretty average. Here's where everything fell apart: we asked for our leftovers to be packaged up . When we got our to-go boxes, we were shocked to find that they only included the steak and a few fingerling potatoes and the cornbread . Our one remaining lobster tail and several shrimp were missing! Along with the bone for the tomahawk steak . Maybe we should've asked for it to be packaged up, but we didn't think we had to . It feels like they just tossed our leftovers instead of boxing them up. We paid a lot for that meal, and it's unacceptable to not receive the leftover food we ordered. I expected better attention to detail when packing our food, especially for such a high-priced meal. This experience has left a sour taste, and I really feel like we were taken advantage of. The highlight of the evening was the table bread and the beet salad. It should have gone up from there, but it didn't. I had the cowboy ribeye medium rare... which came out medium well would have liked to return it but my waiter never came back. So I ate it slowly because I was so hungry. The brussel sprouts were good too. The fries were tasty but nothing earth shattering. The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful. From the colors to the beautiful details. I like what they have done to this old church! Probably the most people they've had is it. I'm disappointed because when you spend almost $300 for a meal, you should come away with lasting memories. Some of the food was good but during salad serving, the waiter spilled my entire wine. Service was attentive (we sat at the bar) and food was above average, as it should be. This is a typical upscale steakhouse and the price definitely reflects that. Mike the bartender was a fabulous character and we found out the playlist we were listening to the whole time that we liked so much was of his doing (mostly 70s and 80s classics). read more

Such a beautiful converted old church into a restaurant. We have had drinks in the bar area on the 1st. floor here, some years back and loved it. So we made our dinner reservations for Christmas night 2024. We were directed to the upstairs dining room. It was gorgeous! The atmosphere, the decorations. As we were being seated, we noticed our jingle bell on a lanyard at our beautiful place settings. Great touch! As was the Christmas music playing in the background. The entire staff was friendly from our hostess (who also can check in your coats) to our servers Michael & Max. Michael & Max were excellent. They were very attentive to any of our needs. They were very friendly & professional. Michael gave us the best suggestions for our meals & dessert. The steaks he suggested were excellent. He was so knowledgeable of the differences of how they were prepared. They came prepared perfectly. The sides we ordered were great. I loved the sautéed spinach & mashed potatoes. Delicious. A garlic hint in both. I figured I may finish my 20 oz. steak, but I was surprised to see my wife finish hers. It was that good. The dessert was a 24 Ct. (Carrot) Cake. Wow! It tasted delicious. The icing drizzled across it just made it perfect. Our compliments to the Chef & The Baker!!! Thanks so much to Michael, Max & the entire staff. I worked a job for years that took me away from family & friends at Christmas time. We had a great valentines anniversary dinner at salt house! We had shrimp cocktail and the gnocchi as appetizers then we shared the salmon. The shrimp were huge and delicious the salmon was moist and tasty gnocchi was okay a little too cheesy for me. To Drink we had a bottle of wine which was great our server was Mason and he was wonderful! They even took a photo of us and printed it for us. We enjoyed everything. Afterwards we went to the bar which was so cute and had some martinis. They had a great selection of liquor and we splurged on some expensive shots. We have a wonderful evening at the Oldestone tonight. Drinks were exceptionally well made, the food was delicious and the desserts were on point. Between the four of us, we had 3 filets and 1 dry aged cowboy steak with sweet potato souflei, spinach and brussel sprouts for apps. The flour less chocolate cake and pumpkin ice cream finished us off. Oh, that and rattlesnake shots- so good! Everything was really very good and our waitress was so helpful. We decided to try the "new" restaurant. This is the first time we went here since they changed their name from Marcia Brown to Old Stone Church. The interior looks pretty much the same which is fantastic. We love the painting on the wall and the general decorum of the restaurant. The atmosphere is very romantic and this is a prime location for a date night with the wife. The server was very attentive and very quick for a high end steak house. She was right there when you needed her. My only very small complaint is that she kind of leaned over my shoulder when I was looking at the wine list. I prefer to have some time to review and talk it over with my wife but this was okay and the server was just trying to help. The wine list is on the pricy side but I suppose you can expect that in this type of establishment. I ordered the Cowboy Ribeye. This is a 20 ounce cut of beef. It was great. they cooked it rare just as I ordered. It was very tasty and cooked perfectly just what you would expect from a high end steak house. It was fantastic. I had the creamed spinach as a side. Again, it was fantastic with melted cheese on the top. I have one word for the food Yum! The bottom line is that this is a fantastic representation of a high end steak house. I would eat here every night of the week if I could. This one gets 4 Siberian husky paws up (I would give it 5 but God does not make Huskies that way). Run do not walk to this restaurant in the beautiful New Hope community. read more

We came here for our anniversary dinner on a Saturday night with reservations. We were late but it wasn't a problem. They saved the best table in the house for us. The seating was a loveseat couch so we got to sit beside each other, which we prefer. The Dining Room is striking and the painting is enormous. The drinks and food on the new menu are great. I had the Lychee Empress and I recommend it. My husband was disappointed there wasn't any beer on draft. We had the Crab Cheese Cake and a dozen oysters. The crab dish was so good that we want to try and recreate it at home. The oysters were standard. The house made mignonette with brine was nice. My scallops were perfect. The filet mignon is very nice. The sides are just OK - on the safe side. The service is good. It was a fantastic meal. The ambiance could use fine tuning to take the experience to the next level. The lighting can be lower. The sconces are enough ambient light, they can dim the chandeliers, which I wish were art deco instead of contemporary to match the sconces. The dining room / church can afford a darker coat of paint. The space can afford it and the gold accents would pop much more. The music wasn't on most of our meal. When it was, it was really nice. Any harmonic house music would fit the mood. We'll be back but Logan's Inn next door looked really nice. There sure is a lot of competition in New Hope. Congrats to the new owners. We stopped in today for Happy Hour! Was my first time here since they had a taken over from Marsha Browns, which I adored. I wasn't loving the way they closed off the open concept that MB had, but the hostess was lovely and kindly pointed us to the bar. The decor was modern, our bar tender Jodi had a friendly smile and was super sweet. They did leave the beautiful stained glass windows up, which made me feel good! Jodi served an amazing dirty martini and gladly took our order with a smile. We were super excited to see $2 oysters & ordered them before anything, no need to miss the timing on those! They were served ice cold on a beautiful platter with a flower & wrapped lemon (just how I like it) they were briny, sweet & delicious, I debated on ordering more, decided to eat what was coming up the pipe & said we could always get more!! We had butcher skewers, which were steak tips, onions & peppers on skewers, & surf & turf sliders; we couldn't decide which we liked better, the bacon, roasted tomato aioli & shishito peppers or the crab cake, pickled onion, lettuce & tomato one? They both were yummy! Again leaving us with the thought of; hmmm do we order more? I had my first dirty martini's of the summer (although it was Labor Day!!) and they were perfectly chilled with 3 meaty olives in both, my friend stuck to Stella since it was a scorcher on a day that was still 91 at 5:00pm. They took Marsha Browns (previous, famous restaurant) slapped lipstick on the building and called themselves a steakhouse. Don't know what changed from a month ago, but the place has slid, screaming, downhill. Over priced, pretentious, poorly executed food and it's such a shame. Service could be better, everyone seems so dissatisfied in their roll. They won us back this past year and now we are sad to finally say goodbye once and for all. In New Hope for some Christmas Cheer and after trying to get into several fully packed places we finally were able to swing into Oldestone, but as a last resort. There were no reservations available in the main dining room upstairs but the hostess was kind enough to tell us of their bar / lunch menu offered downstairs which was a godsend to say the least. Place is an old Church with main upstairs dining area being absolutely gorgeous. Downstairs a very modern bar with side table & high tops as we grabbed one for our late lunch. Server was very nice and tried to be efficient but they were busy so I give her a bit of a pass. Drinks were ordered and prices for them are $$$ but a generous pour on a glass of wine with plenty of options. 4 of us split two salads. CHOPPED SALAD Romaine, asparagus, eggs, bacon bits, red onions, palm hearts, bleu cheese crumbles, and ranch dressing. $16.00 very well presented and split in the back already. Quite tasty but the ranch dressing was a bit bland. CLASSIC WEDGE cherry tomatoes, pickled onions, candied bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, house made ranch dressing $14.00. Also split in the back was not as good as the chopped and again the RANCH was weak. Order of Shrimp Cocktail 5 for 18.00 served on ice. Excellent fresh cold shrimp that snapped. Cocktail sauce was good, though the horseradish on side kicked it to the next level. Unfortunately, I had to ask for the horseradish 3 times. Onto Entrees. We again both split the STEAK FRITES 10-ounce prime NY strip steak, served with French fries $27.00 Both orders cooked to perfection and fries were HOT and tasty. Steak was excellent, and a tremendous value. Tower of Onions rings were outstanding. No desert of coffee's and we rolled out with a full belly and very satisfied with the entire meal. I think the "LOUNGE MENU" is the way to go and I would highly recommend to anyone in the area. read more

Oldestone is a really cool looking spot. That's where the compliments end unfortunately because our meal was a bit of a disaster. It started when our server forgot one of the wedge salads we ordered as a first course. No big deal, it happens. But then things started to go downhill fast. No fewer than 4 times did someone try to run food to our table that we hadn't ordered. An appetizer, then a desert (we hadn't even gotten our entrees yet), then another appetizer, then an entree that nobody at our table ordered. Again, fine it happens I guess. Server spilled wine on the table. A little bit of a vibe killer but sure, it happens. Then came our entrees. Two members of our group ordered the same chefs special for dinner so we were confused when they were delivered two totally different steaks/sides. When we asked the server, he wasn't able to tell us which of the two was correct. So instead, he grabbed both and brought them back into the kitchen to clarify. The table next to us mentioned that it looked like something that they had ordered and that it's possible it was brought to the wrong table. A few minutes later our server came back with the correct steak and told the other member of our group he would go fire the other steak special. It was then we all realized we hadn't been given steak knives so we asked for some. Then our server just, disappeared for a bit. We forged ahead using our butter knives until he returned with the correct steak. We again asked for steak knives, you know, at the steakhouse. He would be right back he assured us. Away again he went. He didn't come back for a bit so we kept doing what we could with the butter knives. We cut into the corrected steak that was delivered and it was incredibly rare, not the medium rare that was ordered, which was consistent with trying to sear it quickly and get it on the table ASAP (picture here in case I am being crazy about it). Our server returned to ask us how everything was. We reminded him, for the third time after our steaks were delivered to our table at this steak house that we needed steak knives and told him that the already delayed steak was underdone. The table seated next to us had gotten up and left before their entrees at this point since they had been there for two hours. We also decided to just call it a night and told them not to bother throwing it back on the grill (since it was already 20 minutes behind the rest of our table, who were finished or over it at this point) and just asked for the check so we could get out of there. As for the other food, my ribeye was actually pretty decent, and the house steak sauce was tasty. The brussel sprout side was good too. The rest was a bit shocking to be honest. Absolutely skip the overly acidic Bernaise sauce, undercooked baked potato (how on earth do you mess up a baked potato), and the tomato and (tough) mozzarella. Don't do the cooked to death pork chop either. All of this would be all or mostly forgivable were they not charging prices consistent with some of the far superior Philly steakhouses. It felt like the first night they had ever been open. The quality and service for what they are charging were baffling. It's possible we got them on an off night but we won't be back to see if that was the case. read more

First time being here since they changed owners from the old Marsha Browns. Atmosphere is still great. We usually come during Christmas every year and get our jingle bell necklace. Great food great service had a great time because of the quality of the food. It was fresh and delicious and the service was very hospitable without being too overbearing. One of the fancier places in New Hope, PA and it's in an old church so the aesthetic is *fancier* than most of the surrounding restaurants. I wasn't a huge fan of the ambience because there was a huge mural of Christianity staring down on us and they also had purple lights. Our main server was very well-versed and skilled, but there were 3-4 associated helpers to clear dishes in between the server (I guess they were busboys?) but they did not understand etiquette at all. My husband was literally drinking soup out of a bowl and the busboy tried to take it as he was taking a spoonful... like catch a hint. We had a table of 6 and ordered: -Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes ($36) -Lobster Bisque Soup ($12) -French Onion Soup ($10) -Thick-Cut Bacon (basically pork belly, $16) -Prime Porterhouse for 2 42 oz ($160) + Oscar Style ($22) -Prime Tomahawk for 2 38 oz ($146) -Loaded Mashed Potatoes ($12) -Creamed Spinach ($12) Our bill was expensive, but I was surprised it was just as expensive as any steakhouse in a big city. Great atmosphere and menu. The menu had a wide variety steaks and seafood to choose from. The bar menu also had a wide variety of specialty drinks and whiskeys. My son and I each got a 10 ounce fillet that was cooked to perfection. My wife chose salmon with a Caesar salad which was also very good. Our server Andrew was exceptional. We had a great time there. The only down side it was extremely expensive. For our party of 3 it was over $400. Buyer beware, they charge you for ice $3 per drink. read more

Everyone who works there acts like they would rather be somewhere else instead. It shows in both the service and the food. You will never see me eat here again. We sat at a high top next to the bar expecting to have drinks, an appetizer & light dinner. As soon as I asked about "happy hour" pricing, our server lost interest. She brought our drinks, (which were good) , then waiting 40 min for the app to arrive. Could not get her attention. She then brought our check without asking if we wanted to order.
