Ole Ole has been around for over 20 years; so I don't know why it took me so long to do a review. It is located in central Plantation, right next to the Broward Mall. The prices are very reasonable, there is plenty of free parking, it has a full bar and cute, colorful decor. First of all, it is one of the few Mexican restaurants that still gives you unlimited chips and salsa! And we're not talking the kind you buy at the store. They are homemade and delicious. We had to limit ourselves to just one basket because we did not want to spoil our dinner. They have pages of Mexican and Tex-Mex specialties from appetizer portions to full combo meals. At my recent visit, I ordered the small Mexican pizza. It is one of my favorite things to get there, I have never tried the large because the small is more than enough for one person, and it's only $13. It comes loaded with ground beef, cheese, tomatoes, scallions, and green peppers. The crust was crispy and delicious. My husband ordered the taco salad with grilled chicken. He said it was really good; but could have used a bit more dressing. (He added lots of salsa to it.). The margaritas were just $7. I can't say enough about how fast the service was. We were seated as soon as we walked in. Our server, Josue, approached the table as soon as we sat down. Drinks and dinner all came out quickly, plus Josue came by to check on us often. We met up with some friends for dinner there. The service was good. The margarita was decent; I like the variety of flavors. I had the chicken enchilada meal with rice and refried beans. I came here on a Saturday with my family for lunch. The place is large with spacious booths. I admit that I come here for the complimentary chips and salsa. Everyone gets their own cup of fresh salsa and the chips are always fresh. It's an extra $1 if you want more salsa but the one cup is usually more than enough for me. I ordered the shrimp quesadilla especial (mushrooms, lettuce, guacamole). My family ordered the chicken burrito and steak cancun (steak stir-fried with vegetables over Mexican rice). Plenty of seating (booths and tables) and a small bar area serving up fresh or frozen margaritas. This is a very casual style restaurant. The bartenders and servers are always nice and friendly. The food is spot on and doesn't disappoint. They have a pretty extensive menu (Mexican and Cuban) and we are partial to the shredded beef enchiladas (with black beans instead of refried) and their Lechon Asado. Wanted to get Mexican food for taco Tuesday and Ole Ole seemed like a spot that wasn't too busy or with a wait so decided to give it a try in the Plantation area. Upon entering, I enjoyed how the tables were on a second floor inside (a rarity for South Florida). Once seated, we ordered margaritas which were definitely the highlight! They were quite strong which really made them a great value and would highly recommend. The chips and salsa came to the table and was delicious, we ordered a side of guacamole to go with it. For an entree, I ordered the shredded chicken burrito. I feel the chicken was a bit too plain and unseasoned which was a bit disappointing, however the cheese on top, the refried beans and the rice was all excellent. Omg I don't even know what to say. Monday afternoon I was in the area running errands and I was starving so as soon as I was done, I went to Olé Olé. It had an average amount of people sitting around at the bar area eating and drinking. There was a man at the bar taking orders for take-out. I sat at the bar and he came over and took my order. I ordered Mahi tacos and a small order of the tuna dip for later. I was too hungry to drive home so as soon as I got in the car. He had placed all the food in a takeout bag and put a knot at the top. I untied the bag and reached in. They had given me a bag of tortilla chips for the tuna dip. Without removing the container from the bag (because I don't eat in my car honestly), I opened the styrofoam which held the tacos, grabbed one taco, took a bite and put it back in the container. I needed a taste before I headed home and it was good to be honest. Then I grabbed the tuna dip, placed it on my center console and reached into the takeout bag for the clear bag of tortilla chips. As soon as I lifted the bag, I saw that there was a cockroach holding on to the bag! I immediately panicked and tossed the bag across the car to the floorboard of the passenger side. I immediately regretted that though because my car is brand new and now there is a cockroach in it. Now I'm gagging because I just bit into the fish taco and swallowed!! I immediately went to the vacuum to vacuum every crevice of my car that the vacuum would fit into. Then I went and got Combat Baits and placed them under the seats. I'm pissed!!!!!! I don't even want to drive in my car right now. I didn't eat the food at all. Lost my appetite completely and threw it in the dumpster near the vacuum. Firstly, I have a severe phobia for cockroaches and what if it was pregnant?!! I will NEVER, EVER SET FOOT INSIDE OF THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN!!!! I am MORTIFIED!!!! I AM DISGUSTED read more

My mom and I went today for a yummy Cinco de Mayo lunch and we were pleased. She ordered a masa de puerco (pork chunks) with black beans and rice, and I ordered a lunch portion beef chimichanga that came with rice and refried beans. We've been living here for five years and last night I finally tried Ole Ole, I'm glad I did. I took a seat at the bar and was given a basket of chips and salsa and ordered a margarita. I was very happy with the margarita Ole Ole puts a good amount of tequila into their drinks. The chips were warm but the salsa could have been spicier. The bartender was very attentive and I ordered a fajita. Grilled chicken and vegetables served with guacamole, salsa, sour cream and warm flour tortillas. The fajita was perfect and just as I like it. The interior is decorated like a Mexican cantina providing the perfect atmosphere. Go give Ole Ole a try. .I finally stopped in for lunch after it was renovated. It has an upbeat happy atmosphere and was pretty busy on a weekday. Lots of groups and everyone seemed happy to be there. I was seated immediately and given the menu. I asked for water with ice and she brought it out asap with the warm tortilla chips and salsa. I always appreciate getting my water quickly! I started looking at the menu. It mostly had the standard Tex Mex food and drinks, but they did have a few specialties that are different, They also offer Happy Hour drinks and food! I decided to try something I have not tried before anywhere. Crab Quesadilla - $16.50 - Flour tortilla with cheese, snow crab, tomatoes and chili strips. The basic quesadilla was good, as was the snow crab. (lots of snow crab!!!). However, it had very spicy chills inside which I did not expect. Perhaps adding that in the description would be more informative. It also had oddly cut chunks of tomatoes. Without the chills (which I took off) it was rather bland. Snow crab has such a delicate flavor that the chilis overwhelmed it and the tomatoes didn't add anything. In my opinion, I think it would have been better with a mix of monterey jack and pepper jack cheese. Add finely chopped green onion, chopped green chilis and then maybe diced tomatoes. Then serve it with sour cream and salsa and avocado on the side. But everyone has their own recipe. So I would return and try the happy hour, but I wouldn't order the snow crab quesadilla again. read more

It'd been years since I last visited but after coming recently I realized I'd been missing out. While they fall more into the Tex-Mex category rather than authentic, there's something delicious on the menu for all Mexican food lovers. However, I've learned from experience to take a minute with them because they're almost too delicious to stop eating. Be warned. If you keep eating, they'll keep coming. Although I'm more of a street taco fan, there's just something so perfect about the crunchy tacos they serve here. They're filled generously with whatever protein you choose & somehow taste better with each bite. The puffiness of the shell combined with the perfect fry makes for a pretty unique taco. Their pricing is great for the size of the portions, as well. The combo platters are the way to go because you also get your fix of rice & refried beans. There's plenty of seating but it can get busy at dinner time on the weekends; they take reservations so that's a plus. Service is usually quick & solid but sometimes it'll get slow when it really shouldn't. The food, however, always comes out piping hot. Food: everything was fresh and authentic. Really delicious. They actually make there tortillas on site. The margs were huge. It had the perfect amount of alcohol in it. The flan...typically I'm not a huge flan fan...but this was pretty tasty. Service: fast and attentive. As soon we all say down, chips came right to the table. This always was our go-to restaurant for Mexican food (one of my husband's favorites). But it closed down during the pandemic. Hubby and I have been trying a few different places that were not pleasing him, and we just realized it had reopened. We started out by devouring the chips and salsa (first bowl free). I especially love the flaming hot green salsa. (You have to ask for it.) I often combine the spicy with the regular one for a dynamite dip. He had his usual steak fajitas, and I ordered my favorite chicken chimichanga. We agreed that the meat in both dishes lacked flavor. (They didn't before.) While he could add some salt and pepper to his steak before wrapping it in a fresh flour tortilla, I could not do that to my deep fried chimichanga. Nevertheless, we scarfed down both meals. Service was friendly and fast. There seems to be a lot of new, young staffers. (When I asked one when they had reopened, she wasn't aware they had ever closed because she only started working there recently.) Prices have increased. But the meals are still reasonable compared to most other eateries. And the portions are decent. Dinner for two with tax and tip and no alcohol was $45. They start off by bringing you chips and salsa for the table but what I really like here is that they bring each person at the table their own individual salsa. The chips were served warm and tasted so fresh and the salsa was delicious, also nice and fresh. We ordered their supreme nacho platter which comes with their crab nachos, their chicken nachos and their deluxe nachos. My favorite of the three was the crab nachos. We also got an order of their guacamole and although I liked it but others I was dining with thought it could have had a bit more flavor. For my main course I had the cheese enchiladas that comes with refried beans and rice. I really liked my food. My husband had the steak fajitas and said they were very good. The other people with us each got the taco and enchilada combination and enjoyed their food very much as well. The only issue this visit was the service. We sat for 15 minutes before anyone even came over to the table for our drink order and then it was only after my husband got up to let the hostess know. Once she came to get the drink order and bought the drinks to us, she disappeared for another 10 minutes. We decided to put in our appetizer and meal order all at once, at that point fearing we wouldn't see her again between ordering the apps and our main meals. Thankfully the apps did come out before the meal. Drink glasses remained empty until we were able to flag her down again. We were here about two months ago and the service was excellent at that time. The portions for queso were TINY but I will say they had good queso. I ordered the most simple meal, chicken and rice, and they failed miserably... overcooked rice and disgusting, no flavor chicken. This review actually makes me super sad because I used to come here years ago all the time. Love their salsa and their guac. Luckily they're salsa and guac hasn't changed and it's still delicious, but that was the only thing good about my meal. Service was absolutely horrendous. We finished an entire basket of chips before our drinks came. I ordered a chicken quesadilla since I was literally craving one all day. When it came, it was cold. I ordered the quesadilla that came with guac on the side (this is important for later.) I told my waitress kindly and she rudely took the plate from me. I know restaurants usually just remake the entire thing because it's not good warmed up. About 10 minutes later it came back and it was just reheated and the grease was all over the plate. And the guac that came on my plate from earlier was also warm and turned a color so they just added more guac on top of it. Our drinks were never refilled and we had to ask another waitress for more chips. We asked for more salsa and our waitress finally brought it to us pretty much when we were done with our meal. When we got the check, we didn't know that for refills of salsa it was a dollar each. Our waitress never told us that. We would've been completely fine with it if she let us know. Then she grabs the paper menu to give to my mom and says that it says it here and usually we tell the customers but we don't do that anymore. Then she says do you want to speak to a manager? At that point I just felt uncomfortable and I know I won't be back. Sad. PS you'll notice in one of my photos there's the chip basket. I need to try their peach margarita next time because if the golden margarita was good, I'm sure the peach one has to be delicious! As you sit down, they bring you a plate with chips and salsa. The salsa although it was mashed tomatoes, instead of tiny diced tomatoes, was outstanding: it was fresh with a lot of citrus from the lemon (which I love) For entree I had the burrito with shredded beef. The plate came with Mexican rice and beans. Portion wasn't huge but it wasn't small either. The shredded beef was flavorful and the whole plate worked. I just kept going for more of the salsa from the chips and salsa. For dessert, I had the fried ice cream and devoured it!! They used Frosted Flakes instead of regular corn flakes on the outside; the ice cream wasn't store bought, it was sooo good. A big dollop of whip cream on top! Gotta make sure you leave space for this one!! Menu is extensive and it includes Cuban food as well as other Mexican fare.
