The inside is where you can do moonshine tastings. You can also shop moonshine in different flavors. The woman leading our taste test (3 flavors for free or $5 for 9) was super laid back, not pushy about trying to get us to buy bottles of moonshine &, in fact, was even funny at the end of our tasting, while comically suggesting items we would get for free if we made a certain number of purchases. Two of my sons bought a few bottles each. Flavors were mostly good, refreshing & not cloying although a tad boozy. The traditional moonshine packs a wallop. You found the go to for everything moonshine. They've got you covered. You walk in and they have someone greeting you by the bar ready to give you a little tour with a $5 tasting. You can't share your shot sampler and you can only do one tasting per day. That should be enough for you to leave the place with at least not one but maybe at least three. They had deals if you bought at least three bottles you got a free mini cooler and a big cooler if you bought even more. This place is seasoned with tourists and perhaps regulars if they had to put those tasting limits in place. Lots of flavors. I'm not a huge moonshine drinker but anything creamy in it then I'm sold. TLDR: Great customer service. Flavorful strong moonshine and whiskey. The place for flavored moonshine and whiskey. Located in The Island by the fountain. Follow Island Drive to park in the back then walk or take the tram to Ole Smoky Moonshine. The trip is worth it for the liquor and experience. Enter the establishment from multiple sides and goggle at their selection. Walk to the tasting bar at the center of the building to try some of the flavors and moonshine soaked fruits for $5. After the tasting, you get a $5 off coupon towards your purchase. The speed of the tasting varies by bartender. It is longer than typical tastings since it is more of an experience. After paying and waiting 15 min for the tasting to start we decided to leave. We received our money back, were able to try one of the whiskeys, and received 15% off our purchase. We highly recommend the amaretto whiskey. I have tried other flavors in the past in mixed drinks and when receiving the moonshine as gifts (for e.g. the moonshine pickles). The moonshine is really good. It is strong and flavorful, the strength varies by flavor. If you enjoy live country music, there was a live band playing outside during our visit. If you go in to taste plan on it taking a bit of time. We were going to start the tasting 3 in our group and two other couples, a bachelor party came in and the girl doing the tasting said I am adding them because they might tip me more! Really? She was nice during the tasting but definitely put more effort in the guys- I understand but it was a bit rude. Fun brewery establishment! If you ever visit Gatlinburg you should make it a mission to visit one of a few of their locations there. Basically you give them $5 for each legal drinker to taste test a few of their drinks. There's about 7-8 shot cups they line up in front of you and they describe the drink and strength of them. Pour the shot for everyone and bottoms up! I would say they have marketing quite down. Mind you tipping is kind for these "bartenders" since they have personality and make it fun for the customers. Now here's the catch the $5 you gave them in the beginning is given back in ole smokey dollars to spend back in their establishment. You don't have to buy anything if you don't want to. But there were a few tasty drinks and cute nicknacks that we purchased. P.S. we went around New Years time. Which means it was quite cold. Also meaning alcohol warms up your body. ;) read more

So much fun! Do the $5 tasting, it is more like a comedy show with their staff. You get to try multiple flavors and we were able to try the pineapple moonshine-soaked pieces, which were so good. After the tasting you essentially get the money you paid back in a coupon to take home some of your favorite flavors. The shop has great apparel and accessories to look at while you wait for your tasting if necessary. We had the best time here. The moment we walked in the door we were greeted by Brian who I think was a manager. He explained everything to us since we had a large group. He couldn't have been nicer. Then we had Chicago as our server. He was the best. We spent so much money and had the best time ever. This is a must. I highly recommend it and the two men we encountered were absolutely amazing. This is the Pigeon Forge location. Totally different atmosphere than the Gatlinburg location. You really should try both. So, for $5 you you get to stand at a bar with around 10 other tourists and get a sampling of about 10 different moonshine. The sample cup you get is not a shot glass but a small plastic communion shot. I believe everyone at the bar got a pretty good buzz by the end of the tasting. Once everyone has a buzz, the sales pitch starts as the bartenders get commission on sales. A quart of moonshine varies from $20 to $25. The Gatlinburg location is surrounded by a few other moonshine bars, so by the end of the night you won't be able to legally drive. read more

We did a moonshine tasting and tried a variety of exotic moonshine flavors. 7 shots ranging from high alcohol content to low and the flavors tasted exactly like the names. My favorite was the green apple! tasted just like a Jolly Rancher. Definitely a must do on any Gatlinburg trip! The area is known for its moonshine, and Ole Smoky is pretty popular (we see it everywhere in Indy even). Out of all the moonshine tastings we did, I felt that Ole Smoky's product tasted the best and had the best flavors. I enjoyed our tasting, it wasn't too busy on the Wednesday evening we went so we got to converse with the bartender about each product, what it mixes with well, etc. We took home a couple of souvenirs I'm rating it 4 stars just because I will say it truly is just the tasting and a gift shop. There aren't really any other opportunities for additional education that we could see. Something like offering a cocktail class, or even a bar/cocktail lounge area to try a drink after your tasting would be a great addition to this place for those to try out the product more extensively. read more
