It's hard to decide what you want to eat these days when you have a taste for nothing but know you gotta eat so I always choose to fix a variety plate off the bar. They had some good choices. The saw shee I don't need but they are always delicious just to put that out there. So I've been seeing these skins when I come. No I have never thought to try them. I got 2 plain ones off the bar as I would inquire about the bags of BBQ at the front upon leaving. The nice young lady said they were brought this morning. I believe that, but my problem is I don't feel they were freshly cooked skins. Both skins the plain on the bar and the bbq which I purchased upon leaving were chewy as hell. The BBQ seasoning was so good. But I can't get down with stale skins. I need some crunch. My dad was one of the best pitmasters there was. I know when the skin came off that hog and it wasn't crisp to throw it in the oven. It crisp right on up for a skin sammich. Horrible place to eat. My boys & I went to Ole Times with our church. The cashier had an attitude & was not wanting to be there. After we paid & go to the buffet there was no food. No ranch dressing for the salad, no pizza. My baby boy went thru the buffet twice & was not able to eat anything. I got a refund & my boys & I went to Applebee's where they always have food because they're a restaurant. Please go somewhere else as Ole Times does not have food on Sundays. First and last visit unfortunately. Went on Monday for lunch and was hoping for some tasty home style cooking. They took the soul out the food and just added salt to EVERYTHING. Went to Ole Country Buffet to celebrate my uncle's 78th birthday. The food was too salty. Asked for a refund after tasting the food and was told the manager was in a meeting (4pm) come back before they close at 6pm and talk to "Sam". Went back and Sam said she had to talk to the District Manager for a refund, leave your name and number. She said she talked to other customers after we had left and "they said it wasn't salty". I don't like leaving a one star rating. But Ole Time Country Buffet earned less than a one star rating this Friday evening strictly on service. The hostess was Pathetic! Leaning on the register. Holding her head in her hands. I ask, Are you Open 3 times before she even looked at me. I saw her mouth move but nothing came out I could hear. After several attempts I barely hear, Yes. I ask to pay. She says something and I insert my credit card. Between hand signals and barely bearable words I think she's in the middle of a transaction with a customer. I don't see anyone else. After about 5-6 more minutes she looks at me. I take this signal that I can pay. Then no refill on my water. I understand help is hard to find, but if you get one to show up,by all means train them to communicate with customers! Ole Time Country Buffet in Macon on Gray Highway Hello Mr. O'Neal, My family and I were celebrating my brother birthday. We lost our brother and was trying to keep from crying and want to enjoy the life that he had lived. We decide to dine at your restaurant in Macon Georgia on Gray Highway store number (I ). We all got a plate and begin to eat. A pond a few bites of my food my right side of my mouth started hurting and I could not take another bite. I told my waitress (Terry) and she said she would get the manger. Terry saw I was in pain and knew I had just sat down to enjoy my plate. She saw I had a full plate of food and only ate a little. The manger (Cassidy) came to the table and said I could not take the reminder of my food with me. I pleaded with her and told her that my face had swollen and my tooth was hurting. I asked could I only take what was on my plate. My family was in shock when she said "NO. I asked could I get a refund since I just sat down and had not gotten up to go to the bar at all. She said she could not give me a refund. I asked for the corporate number and she said she do not have a number for the corporate. She said she will call her district. I visited this location with my family on a weekday a little after the big lunch crowd. The restaurant was huge. I've been to a few Old Times before, and never seen one this size. It was very clean, and the food selection was wide. They had plenty of hot food ready to replace items that were running low. They serve just about any vegetable you can think of and any meat as well. They also had tons of desserts to choose from. If I find myself in Macon, I would visit this location again. read more

Went to this restaurant 12/15/18. Wait time to replenish food on steam tables was long, over five minutes standing in line for fried chicken and other items. Bathroom was awful: handicapped stall had water all over floor, needed tissue, toilet seat loose (almost fell off). Only one soap dispenser working and one stall had the tissue dispenser lying in the floor. Overall not the standard of the Gray Highway location. Will not be returning to this location. read more

I've eaten at this location three times before deciding to write a review. The other times were okay, not as good as the other locations I have eaten at (Gray Hwy, Warner Robins & Tifton). But today probably did it for me ever eating at this location again. The rolls were burnt & hard as a brick. The mashed potatoes had some kind of funny tasting seasoning & didn't really taste like mashed potatoes. The fried fish was overdone. Sad, sad, sad It was a toss up between going here or going to Golden Corral, which is nearby. We made a mistake. Apparently, Friday evenings are "seafood" night. Yuck. The boiled shrimp were so overcooked that neither me or my wife could peel them. The shell was stuck to the toughest shrimp meat you've ever encountered. And shrimp were the only seafood they had that may have actually come from the sea. Bet these were from China. The worst thing was what they pass off as "Brunswick Stew". Oh, my word. Who knew that anyone would want to have the main ingredient to be sweet barbeque sauce? Ugh. My guess is they let the first employees who show up on any particular day go to the kitchen to cook. Everyone else has to sweep or wash dishes, but nobody has to clean the restrooms. That would be a BAD thing to do, apparently. If you treasure quantity over quality, this is the place for you. Went there on a Friday night. Took a good 10 minutes before we got our drinks. Everything and I mean everything at the buffet was dry and crusted over. None of the vegetables had color or seasoning. The pork was dry and crunchy like it had been warmed over all week. The ribs didn't have much seasoning and we're dry and crusty. The deserts were something similar to what you get from an elementary cafeteria. I couldn't figure out half of them. I picked a brownie, which you could have busted out a window with. Tasted so dry it was like they cooked it 3 hours too long. And some odd blueberry concoction that had cream cheese and some unknown chewy chunks in it. My husband and I were out running errands with our one year old daughter in Macon, and we decided to stop by for a quick bite. The atmosphere was quite relaxed and for a moment, I forgot I was in the Macon Mall. I got a salad and some fruit topped with cottage cheese to start. The salad was quite good, very crisp and fresh, I added some cucumbers, olives, croutons, cheese and imitation bacon with some ranch. I also made a little sample plate. The mashed potatoes were okay, not very creamy and fluffy but the gravy made it bearable. The ribs were very tough and dry, with a beef jerky texture. The fish and grits were very good, not too salty yet quite palatable. The meatloaf and macaroni and cheese was amazing! The meatloaf was moist, the macaroni was creamy, cheesy and hot! The barbecue sauce was very sweet and smoky with a hint of heat! The lemonade was cold and refreshing, a perfect balance of sweet and tart. The waitress was pleasant, but not very personable, neither was the young lady that rang us up. I agree with another persons review. It was good the first 2 or 3 times we went ...after it changed from Smokin Pig. But the last 2 times we went it was 6:30 or 7:00 pm and it was HORRIBLE. That last time was to just give them "another chance". The pulled pork and ribs were DRIED OUT AND CRISPY like the other reviewer said. Nothing was being stirred to make it look appealing. It was just HORRIBLE. Don't think we will ever go back. The desserts weren't appealing. Very low quality. Either they need to do something quick or there will be another CLOSED sign in Macon. Sad.
