This is a tough tough review to write. My first time here was a popular holiday and they were a little bit busy. The restaurant is inside an old house and part of the seating is outside in a brick and garden area with covered seating, which is quite nice it's great but it's authentic kind of old looking it's still comfortable if you like that sort of thing. Inside, there's some seating, and a bar where you can order coffee and pastries. We ordered lunch and breakfast items. Our eggs over medium were cooked fine. Their breakfast potatoes were totally dark, and looked like they'd been cooking for days... Toast was dry and very cold and difficult to butter with cold butter, not fun. Outside tables and chairs are quaint but they look dirty and I don't think you can get the old surfaces sterile clean anyway -- because they're antiques. Service was fine tentative and the food was brought out as discussed. Pricing was fine maybe a little high for things not coming out that great. I do believe they serve alcohol. So all in all I would say, I will return I will probably go there for a sandwich at lunchtime and have a beer and sit and watch the Bustling City St., Greenleaf below, but I think their breakfast could be better maybe. read more

I've had a great experience here every time. The food is simple and it feels homey here. I enjoy their lavender latte and appreciate all the wonderful gluten free and dairy free options! Honestly the food was nothing special. It was just your less than average breakfast food. I don't think they know what seasonings are as there were none in our food. There was a wait to sit down, which after eating the food kind of shocked me and the service was extremely slow. Our server who was a woman hardly came to check on us but there was a gentlemen who was servicing other tables who would step in for her every now and again and he was lovely. Unfortunately I didn't catch either of their names. I also don't know if this establishment knows what tres leches is but the tres leches pancakes were indeed not tres leches pancakes. It was just dulce de leche topped pancakes which isn't even in tres leches anything. Tres leches is sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and typically whole milk. The breakfast burrito was probably the best part and that's not really saying much. Safe to say I won't be back. read more

Stayed at the Doubletree in Whittier since I was here to visit our daughters before a road trip A friend of mine lives in Whittier and his wife had always mentioned wanting to go to this place. We drove by parked and we're seated in what I believe to be the best seat on the property. Outside overlooking the street. Service was quick friendly. The menu is brought enough to make everyone happy. We both ordered the chicken and waffles, which were amazing. Chicken was cooked perfectly not too much breading. Auntie's is a must! Wonderful café ambience with food to match. Best chicken & waffles outside of my favorite place in NY. I've tried all the local ones but this beats them hands down! Be sure to ask for your chicken with only a single batter dip-double batter is too much. Also, request the waffle be extra crispy. Trust... thank me later. Came to dine on a Friday afternoon around 11:30am, which is a great time to go as it's not as busy. While sitting and waiting for my party to arrive, I met the owner who was sitting right next to me talking to other guests. She shared with me the beautiful story behind the name and the concept of her restaurant. She named it aunties inspired by her own nieces and nephews because she welcomes every guest dining like a niece and nephew. The concept and ambience she strives for is both welcoming and that comfort of home feeling that you get when you visit your aunties house. After hearing the back story of how the owner wanted this restaurant to represent a sense of community with all its personal touches, details, and incredible food I now have a new found appreciation for this restaurant. If there's a wait, I will be patient because I'm supporting a business owner who is truly passionate about her restaurant. My favorite area to sit in is the side where my favorite server Mark is. He is honestly the best and sweetest. Always attentive and checking in. Makes great recommendations when you are indecisive. The rest of the staff is also amazing from the host, baristas, cooks, and busser. The service overall is incredible. Iced lattes here are amazing. Highly recommend the butterscotch flavor which has a bit of caramel, vanilla, and hazelnut. Simply delicious and not overly sweet. Definitely recommend the raspberry cheese danish. It's buttery, flaky, and soft in all the right places with a delicious filling of raspberry and cheese that compliments in all the right ways. Definitely reminds me of the Svenhard's berry horn danishes. Soo good! Of course, I had to order the chicken and waffles because it's my personal favorite. The food here never disappoints as well as the service and on this special occasion Ariana and her team excelled. Our event was held in the back patio that has vintage country cottage vibes. It is well shaded and spacious. They created a special menu for our event with three pre-selected items from their menu. All our guests enjoyed the ambiance and food. The food was bland and luke warm. Bread was cold.That explains how the food came out so quickly, it was already pre-cooked and just sitting there. AND, the mass of the meal was 90% potatoes. See pic. I've gone here twice but my second time around was unpleasant. The place is cute and it gets busy, so expect to put your name down for a reservation. I had come with a friend and we were told the wait time would take 30 minutes. Once 35 minutes had passed I decided to ask about wait time. The host told me to wait 10 more minutes. After about 15 minutes, I started noticing other people who had came after us being seated so I followed up with her again. At this point it was an hour and the restaurant had 1 hour left until closing. Turns out, the host skipped over us. If it weren't for my friend willing to wait, I would have left. Anyways, upon finally seating us, it took another 15 minutes to get serviced. I went to see how much longer an hour later and they said 5 more minutes 30 minutes pass by and the host sat us and said we would have to wait about an hour or so for our food and if we still wanted to sit. They should've informed us this since we already waited an hour and a half. People around that were sat were still waiting. It wasn't even fully packed. It was halfway. They disconnected their phone lines or I don't know maybe just don't answer, but it sucks because I work from home and want to be able to call in my order so I don't have to wait my whole lunch break for them to prepare it! And not to mention (not their fault at all) but uptown parking is not the best which cuts more time out of my breaks. if they created a way to order ahead while still allowing customization to the order I'd probably order from here every day.
