I don't know about you, but I work really hard for my money and when I pay $8 for a gyro I expect it to be delicious and as ordered. They supposedly have this whole entire gyros selection to order your own which is what I did but it was a simple order which they couldn't have screwed up more if they tried. I especially expect it to live up to the standards when you ask for something extra and you don't get it. How can you possibly screw up one simple order for one simple person? I asked for a regular gyro without lettuce and with extra tomatoes and extra tzatziki sauce on the side. The only part that they got right was the sauce on the side. When I got home all it had inside this puny gyro was meat. No tomatoes, no cucumbers, no onions, and, no sauce. The tzatziki sauce which I had put on the side and paid an extra $3 was/is so spicy that it takes away the flavor from the meat. The service was very good and the place is very cute. But I wouldn't come back here if you paid me $1000000. (Well actually I would for a million). When this place was "Mediterranean Grill" I used to get the same exact thing for $5.97. tonight it cost me 8.50 or some crazy number. I'm not a person who eats out a lot so when I do I expect more than what I got. I got the gyro to-go so it wasn't until I got home that I found my disappointment. Not only that but the gyro's so small and the bread fell apart...nothing special. When this place was the Mediterranean Grill the food was outstanding. I don't know if they just changed the name or if there's new owners but either way I'm very disappointed and I called to let them know. Something I typically don't do because but this was so poorly orchestrated I had to call and let them know. I did not curse or your vulgarity I was very professional over the phone and told them that they need to know how badly they messed up this order. It's not the end of the world I'll get over it there are more important things in the world than a stupid gyro order that this little company messed up but they still need to know if they want to stay relevant against competitors in the area. Nothing special about the order. And there's nothing proprietary about these gyros. I will not go 20 miles out of my way to come see them anymore and instead go to yanni's in Monticello. I really don't get any pleasure in posting bad reviews for hard-working Americans but this was one I just absolutely could not look past.. I wish them the best of luck as their really going to need it. it's really too bad because some of the food looks delicious on the wall and in the menu especially the falafel. But their prices are off the chart. Middletown has a lot of choices but for me this will never be one of them ever again. read more

My chicken shawarma sandwich was so so, def not enough pickles (pickles are everything on shawarma!!!) and it def needed some salt. The main issue was the fries. I ordered the sandwich on a pita and asked for fries on the side since the menu said "with fries +3$" which I probably mistook as meaning I could get some fries with the sandwich for 3$. When he gave me the total of 23$ (2 pita sandwiches at 8$ plus fries) it sounded like the fries must've cost about 6-7$ and I figured oh he must think I wanted a full side of fries and ok sure I'll eat and pay for extra fries at this point lol. Maybe share them with my roomie haha. Unfortunately when I got my order it was a paper coffee cup size of fries. Definitely not 6$ worth. Not shareable. I still tipped him because I can't not tip someone. And this is all probably not the fault of the cashier guy. But just think the restaurant should know the fry prices are kind of crazy...?? read more

This place is amazing! The falafel is super crispy with delicious humus and tahini sauce. They do wraps with lavash that are easy to eat as well as pita dishes with gyro meat and tzatziki. It's all good. I live an hour away and it's so good that I have stopped on my way home north from Virginia just to get some tasty dinner. read more

Super clean & modern reno! Stopped in about 3 yrs ago and loved the fresh food. Then, we went back at one point and thought they were closed. But, they were only doing their great reno! This place almost doesn't fit in Middletown because it has a more urban, current vibe. You just don't expect it from the plaza where they are located. The food is fresh, fresh, fresh and very tasty. Lots to choose from on the extensive menu. Vegan & vegetarian options abound. Easy to order and pick up, or there are a couple of tables inside AND outside on the patio. glad to see a place like this around middletown. i have only ordered from here using the express eats app. i ordered original lamb gyro which comes with lettuce, tomato, onion and taziki sauce. also got a side of grape leaves. my expectations for gyros is high since im used to eating the best (left gyros in tarrytown). so i bit into the gyros from olive falafel. the lamb was so good, flavorful and thick slices. the sauce is the best sauce , better sauce than left gyros. just wish there was more lettuce and tomato in the gyro. the grape leaves - a little disappointing. it comes with 6 and the rice inside was a little hard. maybe it was that day. ill try some more another day. overall, i will def recommend the gyro. in fact, maybe ill go inside the store this weekend! update-- been to the actual store twice since i last posted. there is a decent area to eat in. met the owner. very personable and made sure i had enough lettuce and tomato in my gyro. i cant get enough of the gyro. it is excellent. also, they have a special - every tuesday, gyros are only $5. i do love a good deal! also i tried the baba ganoush with their warm, soft naan bread.... yummmmmmm read more

Gave this olive falafel a try. Ordered 3 items, one of which was the sampler which is chicken, lamb and falafel over rice. The chicken and lamb looked like they were the left over scraps from other dinners. The pieces were basically diced so small that I could not even pick them up with a fork, they needed to be scooped up. Chicken was also dry and tasteless. Stopped by this evening with family after a tiring day at Legoland. Was pleasantly surprised to find this place a few minutes away from the park, and to get a break from stale pizza and chicken tenders. We tried many items on the menu, all made from scratch with fresh ingredients, and none of them disappointed. The mixed gyro and chicken shawarma plate was well prepared and filling, and the kids items were tasty as well. Yesterday I ordered a Greek salad with chicken and a Rotisserie beef/lamb gyro platter. Everything was good except the olives in the Greek salad were not kalamata olives that go in a Greek salad, they were black olives that you buy in a can. We will order again but next time if I order anything with olives they should be Mediterranean olives. read more

Ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich today. However, it is not a shawarma sandwich. It's just chunks of chicken in a pita with various veggies. The chicken was dry and had no flavor. If you want a real shawarma sandwich go to Paterson NJ and see what authentic is. For $9 I expected better. I have eaten here in the past and food was much better then. I recently discovered this place existed. The food is incredibly tasty. I've had a lot of Mediterranean food in my time, but there truly is something remarkable about the food at Olive Falafel and Deli. We had the greek salad, falafels, a variety of hummus and the baklava. Everything was made fresh and the flavors were on point. The tzatziki sauce and baklava was the best I've ever had! I had the privilege of meeting the owner, George, and he is delightful. He shows great care and concern for his patrons, as if they are a part of his family. This place is a rip-off! Was charged $30 for two $5 "Tuesday Special" gyros, a $4.75 side of onion rings, $3 for a side of fries, $3.00 for 4 falafel, and a soda. Why the discrepancy for what is added up above versus what we actually paid? Because the owner states we didn't request the $5 special gyro and got the "regular" one. Not true. But what is the difference between the $5 special and the regular? He tells us, "I put twice the amount of meat on the regular one versus the special." Well, that's not a special then, is it? That is what I call deception. Asked us if we wanted to give him our gyros back and he could make us the "special" gyros instead of refunding our $6 for the difference. Why, so you can 1. Throw the food away or 2. Give it to another customer after it left your hands. Doesn't make much sense, does it? Rather than give us the refund he'd rather lose our future business plus have us write a negative review. Pretty bad business practice if you ask me. Also, note the amount of onion rings you get for $4.75. Sorry, pal, you lost two of your customers, and we have been here many times prior. read more

Great restaurant! The owner is very nice! Super personable. He asked if we wanted to stay and eat in. When we said yes, he brought us over some free samples of food to try, and they were declious! They do cater somewhat to food allergies. I have a gluten and dairy allergy and I had plenty of food options that were there. The good was super yummy and the prices were very reasonable.
