OG is our nieces fav place so we visit here often. The service is always top notch-last two visits we had Katie as our server. She was excellent-perfect amount of attention, super nice and knowledgeable about the menu. Food is always great, hot and options are good. I love the salmon with perfectly cooked broccoli. I'd like to update this review. Since a couple of bad experiences, mainly with service, we came upon a server - Christina - who is excellent. She is attentive, brings food out hot. We never have to ask for drink or breadstick refills. The food is very good. And there always seems to be a manager out on the floor attentive to the overall operation which is how it should be, but rare in today's restaurant industry (especially chains). I would say that other servers that are either uncaring or clueless to how the job should be be done are still around, but I suspect management is doing their best in a competitive atmosphere to get the best they can. Service is excellent, but every time we go, the pasta has so little sauce in it that tastes like plain noodles. I've commented on the survey about this several times, but they apparently don't listen to their customers. My previous review here is over two years old and pre-pandemic so it's good to let everyone know how restaurants are doing after those crippling lockdowns. Since I was by myself today, I was seated in a booth in the bar area which makes for a cozy and intimate atmosphere with only four booths and ten stools at the bar. I ordered the Lasagna Classico with the meat sauce and their AWESOME Never Ending Salad and Breadsticks. Although I am a soup lover, I have never been able try any of their soups because I think their salads are one the VERY BEST salads ever created. Of course its the Italian dressing that really makes it so wonderful. Did you know they bottle their dressing and market it directly to the consumer? I've purchased it at Sam's Club often. My lasagna today was equally good as well. So is the Chicken Parmigiana, the Lasagna Fritta appetizer, the Tour of Italy entree, and their Fettuccine Alfredo that I have ordered regularly in the past. Today's meal was top notch and exactly what you would expect. Today's service was excellent. My server, Amanda L, a ten year employee, was very friendly and personable. She took very good care of me, checking in multiple times. She is exactly what you hope for, an employee that goes above & beyond your expectations. In fact multiple servers were smiling at me and making eye contact which is getting to be rare these days. Restaurant in a college town, staffed by college students. It went as I feared it would...though I will say we got seated quickly, and that's the ONLY reason it's not a one star review... Server was polite but not pro-active. We both ordered soup, salad and breadsticks, and had to ask for another bowl of soup and more breadsticks. Portions were small compared to other Olive Gardens we've been to. Soup bowl is usually full at other locales, here it's barely half. Salad bowl had just enough for two servings. Never got refills on beverages. Food quality was meh at best. Pasta in my soup was mushy like it had sat a while. Ambiance was typical of an Olive Garden. Food was great! Server was great! However, the hostess (short black hair and glasses) was beyond childish! I had put our name on the waitlist, 3 people, the system said we were 12th in line with approximately a 40-50 minute. When I arrived, 10 minutes later, not a single person waiting in the lobby and she said, you still have 34 minutes left on your wait. As I looked around at an empty lobby I asked who else was ahead of us? She said that the wait could be for an open table... ok...understandable!! So we sat..,and waited... then a party of 2... came in/name called/got seated, then another party of 2, name called... and seated. Then a party of 3, not on the wait list; put their name in, a few minutes later she called their name... then called another party of 2 that had recently come in... Meanwhile, there we sat! Finally she called my name and then told me she texted me and I didn't show up... HELLO, the lobby was nearly empty and I was sitting right behind you!!!!!! Her response was "I can't remember everything"! Legit, I was right behind her!!!!! And she never called my name until after she sat the others! So unprofessional and uncalled for!! It's not because Olive Garden doesn't have good food, they do. But for the absolutely disgusting table and disgusting appearance of the restaurant does this get only one star. The table (seen in pictures) needed replaced years ago, barely was attached to the wall, and was so sticky my menu literally stuck to the table. When we asked the server for a rag to attempt clean it up, once her visible disgust went away she came back with a wet paper napkin. That didn't help. April 2021 - Bloomington needs to decide what the hell they are doing with Covid-19 !! On Saturday we had breakfast at Cloverleaf restaurant and the place was packed, standing room only. Zero Covid restrictions. On Sunday, at Olive Garden, we waited nearly an hour in our vehicles only to go to a restaurant that was half-empty. I'm getting sick and tired of this stupid inconsistency! This is the last time I will ever go to this chain. In Merrillville, Indiana, the Olive Garden is standing room only and has been for months with Zero seating restrictions! So we walked in and asked for a booth. I am a bigger guy. So why did they give us the smallest booth they had. Service was bad. Cheese tasted old. So hard could not even chew the cheese. It was terrible. My food was cold. And my wifes food didnt even come out until I was done with my food. They man who served us was going on anther level besides being a server. It was just bad. We paid 46 plus dollars for this meal when we didn't even get our meal the way we wanted it or the time frame. Only reason why I gave them a 2 was because the only thing they did give us right was the dessert. But even this we had to order it ourselves. Then asked someone why we haven't gotten our food or dessert yet. Sure it was busy but everyone else had their food. Their was people who came in well after we did and we still didn't have our food. I have friends who consider Olive Garden to be nothing more than ketchup on spaghetti - I consider those folks Italian food snobs! :) The OG is an OG....you know what you're getting, the menu and quality is consistent. I love a great Italian meal, and when possible I'm happy to eat at more 'authentic' Italian joints, but when the family is looking for a inexpensive and convenient option, I think the Olive Garden fits that description well. For carryout, the Olive Garden also has great 'family style' deals - large portions of the basics, all the fixings including the salad and stix, and they package it incredibly well. You can feed your family on the cheap and pick it up on the way home. It's hot and ready, in a large pan and easily served. read more

The dining experience this evening at the Olive Garden in Bloomington is the worst I've had in quite some time. I ordered soup and salad which is generally served very quickly. Tonight it took about 25 minutes. After serving me, the server never returned. I asked another server to send her over so that I could order another bowl of soup. The first thing is that we ordered the unlimited soup, salad, and breadsticks and we didn't receive any salad and our server never brought us more breadsticks when we asked multiple times. This takes the cake though. I am 21 with my GOVERNMENT ID and they would not serve me alcohol. Me and my family went here for lunch and 2 ladies who was supposed to assist us had the most rude and disrespectful attitudes. Before sitting down we asked about the multiple seating and if we could have space in between. Both of the servers told us STRAIGHT NO. Due to not having enough workers but mind you it was 2 waitresses just to seat us so that explains "not enough workers". Also keep in mind the table was in the same room just a few seats down. Mother Bear's West was PACKED so we opted for Olive Garden. It was also busy but we were seated within ten minutes, woman who was working as hostess was very friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, after we were seated, it was another ten minutes before we received any service. I finally stopped one of the servers as she passed by our table to ask for water. She took our order (even though we were not seated in her section) and was very apologetic. The food, meh. It's Olive Garden. We ordered entrees that came with soup and salad. The famous breadsticks are SO salty. The soup and salad were delicious, although I wish my soup was a bit warmer. The entrees, three cheese ziti and shrimp scampi, were okay. You have to keep your expectations realistic at Olive Garden. My scampi had asparagus in it that was weirdly burnt and a bit too chewy, but the pasta was overcooked. A few of the shrimp were a tad gritty, as if they had not been deveined and cleaned very well. Again, this is Olive Garden, it's not fine dining. For dessert we opted for the Dolcini, which are little cups of various creamy/custardy desserts. Our server (our actual server who finally arrived after the other person took our order) brought us forks with our desserts, which were completely useless. We had asked for spoons but they never arrived. In retrospect, I think if I ever go back to the Bloomington Westside Olive Garden, I will stick to the soup or salad and avoid the entrees. read more

Olive Gardens are consistent with the same menu items and specials thoroughout the land. Of course, the service can vary greatly but I haven't found that to be an issue recently. Today we stopped in the Bloomington location to grab a quick bite before the trip back to Indy. This location is much smaller than the Avon location but was cozy, extremely clean and the staff was very friendly. Our server, Anna, was bubbly, friendly and helpful answering a few questions about the newer items we hadn't tried yet. She certainly is a true Olive Garden advocate and enjoys working with people. My friend selected pasta with meat sauce and was very happy with her selection. I chose the Italian Sausage Sandwich on cibatta bread. The sandwich came with the sausage cut in half to fit the bread, smothered with sauteed onions and red peppers in a nice marinara sauce. We both had the well known house salad. This used to be my favorite place to eat, but after the experience I had with my friends last week, I don't think I will ever be back. Our waiter was slow and almost rude in a weird way. Our iced teas were all watery and truly terrible. Food when it finally came out was dry from sitting under a heat lamp. My food was the only decent dish out of four diners. Bread sticks and salad were ok. The bathroom was filthy which was unacceptable with the amount of business at the restaurant at that time. I'm usually pretty easy-going when it comes to dining out, but this definitely rates as the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I'm not usually an Olive Garden fan, for many reasons. This visit stood out because it was actually very good! Our server, Delaney, greeted us as we sat down, and took our drink orders. She soon came with our drinks and took our dinner orders. All 7 of us had the soup, salad and bread stick lunch, and our server kept checking that we were well served. She always brought the correct soups we ordered, and made sure the salad and bread sticks were fresh. We made many special requests (cheese on the salad and soups, lemon or lime with various drinks, extra peppers or olives for various people for the salads, etc...) She was always spot on! The food was good, though we just tried the soups. I tried the Zuppa Toscana and Chicken Gnocci. The Toscana was excellent, as always. The Chicken Gnocchi was very good, though on the salty side for my tastes. It's also an oddity, but there was almost no chicken - just three small pieces. This is the second time I've had this soup with almost no chicken, yet at the same meal, my mother-in-law had lots of chicken, but almost no gnocchi. Odd, but just as much to have fun with. The salad was fresh and well made. Always a hit. Bread? I guess I just don't get the draw. Decent, but not completely 'hot out of the oven' fresh. So to start off, the building was spectacular. Felt like home right when i walked in the door. We were seated quickly at a nice table and got ordering right away. We got a bunch of appetizers which I'll indulge in in a few. Did i mention this was my first time at an Olive Garden? Ya first time at Olive Garden pretty lit..... The soup was so thick but there was to much stuff "a swimming" in the soup that i could not enjoy I.T. My boy got that Italian salad and said I.T was dry needed more dressin, but liked I.T.
