I had the shrimp scampi lunch portion that came with a soup - it was the perfect size & tasted good. Also had the Sicilian Cheesecake; not gourmet but good. The manager came out to greet us near the end of the meal. He asked about our food and service & offered to take away our empty plates. He then gave us a card with a QR code to scan and provide feedback. He also flipped the small screen around, so we assumed he was encouraging us to use it to order dessert and pay? Great service, even though it was quite busy due to the weekend crowd. The Never Ending Soups & Breadsticks were excellent, as always. We tried the gnocchi in cream soup and the bean and sausage option--both were delicious. And of course, the breadsticks were just as amazing as you'd expect from Olive Garden. For the main course, we had the Steak Gorgonzola Alfredo, which was unfortunately a letdown--it was overly sweet and had an odd flavor. We love going to Olive Garden. They're super kid friendly and all the food is standard across their locations. We love their breadsticks and soups. My go to entrees are their chicken Marsala and lasagna. I always leave in a happy carb coma. We came to this location on a Sunday for lunch and there was no wait around noon, but the crowd gradually trickled in and the place was pretty packed by the time we were done with lunch. Service here was excellent- food came very quickly and the entire staff was pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere is upbeat and cheerful with great music as well! read more

Best place for pasta! Usually very busy on the weekends but I had a reservation for table of 6 so we were seated right away! Our server was very kind and explained the new $6 entree take home deal, along with the $16.99 buy one get one pasta. The breadsticks were warm, fluffy, and buttery. The zuppa toscana was creamy, a savory, and had a lot of meat and potatoes in it! Soup or salad, and the bread is unlimited, so I got 2 rounds of soup and bread! The five cheese ziti al forno was as cheesy as it sounds, and had this vodka sauce on top which enhanced its flavor. The only downside is the the prices for food here increased, while the portions decreased. It was about $20 for my pasta. I was still hungry after my meal. read more

Waited almost an hour on a Tuesday night to get a server, 2 other customers came in after us and got service first?

The Olive Garden in Matteson, IL is not ready for prime time. We sat at table for nearly 10 minutes before getting water. 3 in our party. I asked hostess for water, another of us asked for tea, and that's all she brought-not waters for everyone. The hostess had to ask another staffer to handle a cocktail order bc she was under age, but no one came by to take that order. Despite waiting about 20 minutes total, not one waiter stopped by or even acknowledged us, and one walked right past without even look at us. All this in a place that was half empty, and with at least 5 waiters on hand. So we left and will definitely NOT be going back. read more

It's refreshing to see a joint that has been around where the service far exceeded the so called 'modern' joints and brought back my love for eating out again. Grant here took such good care of us here. He was attentive, funny, caring and made sure he checked in on us several times. Without going overboard, he made us feel so comfortable; we are definitely asking for him when we go here again (BTW, it's been a once a month Monday dinner for us) The food; as usual, the breadsticks and salad, I don't have anything to say about as they are well known for this. Came here and ordered the same thing I've ordered from this restaurant for around the past 18 years. Requested the manager who helped put the order in for me a few weeks ago because even though it's a basic meal it's always a different way to put it in the system when the menu changes but assured he was busy and they'd figure it out. Server was friendly but order came out incorrect. Requested manager who helped yet again but had another manager come and suggest I scrape something out from the inside of the chicken to make it closer to what I asked for. I respectfully said if I have to scrape the food to almost get what I asked for it's ok I will just pay and leave as I don't feel like that's what I want to do when I'm buying myself dinner. Manager doesn't really say anything and goes in the kitchen. I sit with an empty bowl of salad cold breadsticks and wonder what's going on. I haven't been told if they are going to try and find the employee who helped last time so that I know how to correctly order and not be an inconvenience to the staff like I feel like I am being today or if they are trying to fix the order. Finally after maybe 10 minutes that felt like 20 at the time because im so hungry I'm told by the waiter they are fixing it. They haven't really asked what changes to make or seemed receptive when I told them what was wrong and I was asking for so I was a little in disbelief but I haven't eaten all day and it's around closing time so I'm just optimistic I'll finally have my dinner soon. Meal comes out again and is again not what I asked for. I'm disappointed but I understand mistakes and misunderstandings happen but it didn't seem like anyone cared I felt like a nuisance and I ended up paying about $40 for some salad a couple breadsticks and a soft drink and am now getting ready to go to sleep extremely hungry. As someone who has always experienced exceptional customer service here and with this company in general it's just disappointing when you can tell nobody cares that your dinner is messed up and you're just another obstacle in the way of them going home after they get off work for day. The server was kind but if I was the manager I just would have done 1 of 3 things to prevent someone from creating a yelp account solely to tell about there less than satisfactory experience: 1. Simply tell the customer we can not offer you what you asked for as it is not a preset meal which I would have understood. 2. Be more receptive and listen to what I asked for as it is literally just grilled chicken and marsala sauce which would have prevented this review. 3. Just have told me sorry for the misunderstanding and not watch me pay for a dinner that was incorrect and I did not take a bite of or take home with me because of the fact that it was still Incorrect. I got the feeling the manager I spoke with did not care whether it was right or not but more so annoyed that I asked for the same exact meal they served me many many times and most recently just a few weeks ago in August. The experience overall just felt insensitive to watch a customer pay for an order that was messed up multiple times and now watch them leave hungry. We're all humans people miscommunicate and people mess up I would have been fine over the mistakes and not paying for stuff I didn't eat as it was close to closing time and I know they can't keep trying to get it right all night. But watching me pay for food I did not eat after asking me to scrape something out of the inside of the food when it wasn't even what I asked for to me just makes me feel like the manager did not even care enough to pretend to care about me as a customer. I appreciated the waiter his service was great he did the best he could and had a very friendly welcoming demeanor. I just overall think the entire experience and non solution from the manager I spoke with was extremely disappointing and underwhelming to me since I chose to come here over many other restaraunts that are now all closed so that's the only reason I'm even making this review, because I'm going to bed hungry and the leader of the team didn't seem to care if that happened. read more

I absolutely love this location. The ambiance is really nice. Very family oriented. I'm always greeted with smiles, it doesn't get any better than that. Staff are always welcoming and attentive. I sat at the bar today and I was instantly greeted and asked if I wanted to order a drink. That's my type of party lol!! The restaurant is always clean which anyone can appreciate. Last Friday was the only second time I've been to an Olive Garden Restaurant and I was surprised at how good the food and the service were. I started off with Gnocchi Chicken Soup which was delicious and plenty of chicken and big chunks of Gnocchi in a silk-smooth cream broth. For my main course, I ordered the Chicken Marsala sautéed with spinach and mushrooms in a creamy marsala mushroom sauce. Served over fettuccine. A nice presentation of perfectly sauteed chicken in a rich cream sauce surrounded by spinach and fettuccine noodles. It was so big I had to take half of it home along with a few of the warm garlic bread sticks. For dessert I chose the Black Tie Mousse Cake it was delicious with a nice drizzle of thick fudge sauce on top and on the side. I ordered coffee that I thought was a little too strong for my taste. Came here with the fam for lunch the other day. This was my first time at Olive Garden. They have lunch specials! Ordered The Never Ending Soup, Salad and Breadsticks. They have 4 soup options and 1 vegan soup option. I got the Chicken Gnocchi (creamy soup, roasted chicken with Italian dumplings and spinach) it was pretty good and filling. Salad was good, had too much croutons for me though and they could have added light dressing. (Definitely ask if you prefer just a lighter dressing) I may just ask on the side. The breadstick was warm, buttery and fresh! (Doesn't come with sauce, you can order some though). Rest of my family ordered fettuccini shrimp and shrimp scampi, they said it was good. It's been a while since I have been to an Olive Garden but it's typically ok. This time it was less than ok. The service was extremely slow and the food was not good at all. We started with the calamari and it was so under cooked that we could not eat it. It was like soggy rubber, so gross. The tour of Italy and chicken parmesan was so over cooked it was burnt. I think it sat under a heat lamp for an hour before it made it to our table. The pasta was just mush and so gross. The breadsticks were hard as a rock. Overall the dinner was terrible. This restaurant needs new cooks or an upgrade to the recipes. It's the blandest pasta that I've ever had. The chicken tastes like it was frozen and microwaved. The shrimp is good, the salads are great, as are the bread sticks and soup, but everything else is sub par. Also, the service is not great. I've been there when it's not busy and you still get the slowest service ever. So, is your want the all you can eat bread sticks and salad with soup, it's worth it. We stopped by to eat at the Naperville location when the place was less crowded. They didn't let us choose our seat. So we left. They wanted us first in those little tiny side rooms with people we didn't know. Then they said we could eat in the bar. We don't even consume alcohol. There were plenty of other tables all over the place. We'd never been treated like this at this restaurant and we'd been there many times with nice hosts and waitstaff over the span of many years. Look, it's Olive Garden. I'm not coming here expecting to receive a unique dining experience or super authentic Italian food. I come for the bottomless breadsticks. As far as this location, the food can be hit or miss. The most recent time I came I was super disappointed but received great service. First, the calamari was super rubbery, next our drinks seemed like they needed more syrup to be added for flavor, and finally the soups tasted off as well.
