Olive Garden serves Italian-style food at reasonable prices. We have dined here four times for lunch over the last 2 years, and have been pleased with the level of service, the freshness of the ingredients, and the size of the bill at the end. What more could one ask? I mostly choose their Classico Lasagna with a salad since I avoid making both at home. Lasagna is too time consuming, and why is it that a salad always tastes better when someone else makes it, right? Olive Garden makes me happy when I chose to let them cook for me. Despite some low scores (almost every national franchise of any restaurant gets low scores), this location is dialed in for my wife and me. Looking for someone else to cook today? I went to Olive Garden after work one day. I ordered the Beef Rib Tortellini dish and it was terrible, so I ordered the Alfredo instead. I had Pasta Fasoli soup and Chicken Alfredo with broccoli. It was so delicious. The waitress that tended to me was amazing. She was very attentive to my needs and even gave me extra mints to take home and extra food. Bar tender never acknowledged us, after a few minutes we asked for a drink menu. We looked it over and was ready to order. She never came back to take our order, was at the bar 15-20 minutes before our table was ready. Waitress seemed new but was trying hard. I appreciate the consistency when it comes to the food. I always enjoy the Alfredo. I have noticed some pieces of grilled chicken seem strange but other than that, everything seems delicious. The breadsticks and soup are always great too. Service can vary but it has been very good. I can't believe I still love OG after many many years, lol. It can be salty at times, but it still holds a place in my heart. My last visit was pretty good - I took off a star because it was incredibly hot inside the restaurant and there were so many flies. Normally it's too cold, so I think they had an issue with the A/C. Our waitress was good, but I had to remind her to give me utensils so I could eat my food. Also, she never came back to give us a refill. I tried a new app (new to me) and it hit the spot. I ordered the lasagna fritta. I would order again, but not with an entreè (too much food). My lasagna had a great bake with a crispy/cheesy top and a creamy center from all of the ricotta. If I could give more zero star I would Do not go to the Olive Garden in Monroe. The service is awful and unless you are their ethnicity they ignore you. The food was rubbery and took them so long to make it. When you tell them that the food is not edible they charge you to remake it. They take another 30 mins to bring it out so you don't get to eat dinner with your family. They then come out with the food and tell you that they are going to comp it and then they tell you they aren't going to comp it. They take off the second one they charge you to remake it. They then threaten to call the cops because you are making your point. To make matters worse there was a roaches climbing up the walls. Closest location to us. Decided to try this location out for our date night. I signed us up online on the wait list about 6:30pm. When I did that, it did let me know the wait would be about 35-45 minutes. We arrived around 6:50pm. and checked us in and was told it would be about 35-minute wait?? We decided to sit at the bar and order a drink while we waited for our table. At exactly 7:15pm, we sat at our table! Our waitress Chloe was AMAZING! She was super friendly and knowledgeable. Our order was put in and came out in a timely manner! I ordered the chicken and shrimp carbonara pasta, and it was DELICIOUS! my husband ordered the chicken tortellini, and he said it was delicious as well. We ordered the chocolate lasagna... Olive Garden has no shocks, right? Wrong. I could not believe the prices; they were at least 10% lower that I had anticipated. Local lunch and dinner prices have shot up as everyone knows. Does this mean that inflation is going down? Hopefully. Many retail and food service places close their doors when inflation keeps families at home. We shall see if this is a promising trend. But the amount of food was the same as usual - giant salad, unlimited breadsticks, free refills. I had the eggplant parm again, with a small spaghetti side serving. It was not oily this time. It also had extra cheese on top. I was able to take home quite a lot of uneaten food, esp. salad. My friend had the soup and salad, and was happy with it. I had half and half iced tea. The parking at 1 p.m. was reasonable so we had no problems getting a place. The service was good, but the girl looked tired, and she forgot the lemon. This was a great experience for me and my family. Toni, one of the mangers, did an amazing job to help us out, at first we were sat at a table with chairs, which with a toddler can be difficult, we wanted to move but because of a bigger party we had to stay. Toni went out of her way with a free appetizer and dessert to make up for it. The food was good and even when we all split something still took home leftovers. Yes they were busy for the amount of staff available but had many empty tables. 4 hostess, 1 guy running orders in and out, why 4 hostess, if you cannot seat people you need servers not hostesses. I love the salad and I think if I ever go back, I'll just have soup and salad because my lasagna was awful. It was so dry that I ended up using some of the dipping sauce to help get it down. The food is always good here and the waiters we get are usually nice and polite. This time we got a waiter names Toloria , as soon as we started ordering drinks she had an attitude I dismissed it and didn't think anything of it. We ordered our food and she didn't seem happy to serve us at all. After we got out food my daughter had a few croutons from my salad (she is 2) after me and my sister asked for some more soup and salad she said she will need to charge all of us because we all ate the salad. Mind you only I had the salad and my daughter has a few croutons. She told me its the rules and from all the times I've been here that has never been a problem. She asked if I wanted to speak to the manager and I did the manager never came out and she changed her mood after she came in from the kitchen. Im guessing it was something the manager told her. Alright this review is gonna throw you for a whirl. So firstly I sit down with no wait, perfect. The waitress comes up with a trainee ( the waitress was being super condescending and rude to her). Personally if I was training for this job I'd have let her hear it then I'd have walked out the door, I digress. Time goes on we get our drinks and I feel something that feels like it's running up my leg. I say something to my friend I'm with and we took a flashlight out under the table ( we see nothing) so continue with our meal. About 10-15 minutes later my friend feels it as well, we both get up pull the flashlight out again and it's a huge bug ( I thought it was a cockroach but it may have been a water bug). We get our waitress and she brushes it off and makes a joke about how we are scared of bugs. Never have I seen something like this situation handled so poorly. She sweeps up the bug and we continue on with our meal. Later on she comes to our table and says "she said I could give you a free dessert". I never asked for anything and this was a kind gesture but I'm not even sure who "she" is. From my perspective a free dessert does not cut it. We waited a good bit before we were even greeted. A girl told us she would be right with us. A few minutes still passed by and she never came around. We all ended up talking and catching up and heard a big boom on the table. We turned and saw that she had a tray in her hand and place a wine bottle on the table and walked off. She came back and greeted us. She was nice but service was slow. I ordered the sampler appetizer because I wasn't that hungry. I got the mushrooms, calamari and toasted meat ravioli. Ravioli and mushrooms were pretty good. I was NOT pleased with the calamari if that's what you call it!! It was NOTHING but breading. It honestly looked like I ordered popcorn shrimp. My friend asked for a piece and she tried one and spit it out and said there wasn't even any calamari in there. I wasn't expecting it to be perfect but I did calamari and not breading. Gross. The server told my friend she can have whatever she wanted on the dessert menu since it was her birthday. She picked the tiramisu. Server later came back and said the tiramisu was FROZEN! Food and service were great- but apparently the bartender was brand new. In addition to waiting awhile ( which I understand), the drink I ordered came out nothing like I had before. I ordered the Italian Sunset which was supposed to be a light magenta color with pineapple/ vodka. Came in for lunch on a weekday. There is a shared parking lot with plenty of parking. When I entered I was greeted and there was a wait. I went to the bar instead for immediate service. They were not prepared and were severely understaffed. The bar tender was stressing and dropped some alcohol. When people left the serving areas weren't cleaned. It was quite a unique situation. The persons in the kitchen were able to make some great tasting food in a timely manner. I had soup unlimited with a chicken pitta sandwich and a desert cup of strawberry whites chocolate. We did not have a long wait to be seated; however, after ordering we waited 35 minutes before we eventually left waiting on our food. It was ridiculous! I previously visited the Red Lobster in Matthews twice and both times were a disaster. I have friends who have stated the same and would never go to either! I think the Darden franchise should take this time to either re-brand, regroup and re-think their take on "fast food" dining.
