Ordered takeout tonight. Wait was longer than stated online but food was very good. However, we ordered oysters and other hot meals and they put everything in one bag. My heart sank seeing oysters and other cold things comingled with steaming hot entrees. They repacked but I was disappointed in the judgement in this final handoff to me. read more

We went to O + O for a Friday date night and it exceeded our expectations. This was my first time at the new location and it was a beautiful space. We had a reservation for 5:30 and were seated immediately. Our waitress Alexis was extremely friendly and on top of it. Drinks were good and strong, and the food was amazing! We were offered fresh union loafers bread with whipped garlic butter which set the scene perfectly for what was to come: hackleback caviar, charred octopus, goat meatballs and the flank steak finished with a slice of chilled cloud coconut cake which in its entirety was a recipe for a perfect dining experience. What a wonderful dining experience! Service, drinks, ambiance and food! We had the Florida pink shrimp on an heirloom tomato slice for appetizer. Gaucho steak and baked clams for our entrees. Olive + Oak is a farm to table type of upscale restaurant producing freshly prepared, delicious meals for their client to enjoy. If you're looking for prime dinner time reservations, be prepared to wait a while (as in a few weeks maybe?) but if you enjoy going to dinner early or very late then you might be all set. I prefer going to dinner early, it doesn't bother me at all. I am hungry around 4:30-5pm usually and will generally want dinner around that time. But trust me, whatever sacrifice you make will be rewarded tenfolds by delicious beverages of your choosing and a meal to remember. We had a 4:30 dinner reservations on a Friday night. The place was not as crowded but it eventually started to fill in as we sat and enjoyed our first drinks and apps. We started with manouri cheese (roasted peppers, dill, cured olives, crispy capers served with some toast). I enjoyed our appetizer, it was delicious. They also brought over some dinner breads from a local bakery. I enjoyed a California cabarnet sauvginon while we waited for our entree and took in the surroundings. It's a fairly small restaurant but well-lit with a more modern decor, a sizeable bar and a communal long table right by the bar. For my main entree, I ordered their pasta special with some sweet crab. It was really good and our waiter was right, the crab meat pieces were very good. I'm glad I went with his recommendation. For dessert, I had a sort of upside down pineapple cake with cream. Angel food cake type of cake soaked in cream for a couple of hours and that really was nothing like I have had before! It wasn't overwhelmingly sweet but it had a very rich flavor complimented with a few pineapple slices, a drizzle of caramel, then sprinkled with whole macadamia nuts. Such a lovely end to our dinner. Service was excellent. I cannot stress this enough! Our waiter was funny yet very attentive. I really did enjoy my first visit here and I cannot wait to come back! read more

Went to dinner to celebrate an early birthday last night and had the most enjoyable time and the most flavorful food. From the Chard Octopus and Blue Crab Gratin appetizers to the Lamb, Flank Steak and Tile Fish entrees every flavor amazing. We ate family style sharing all of the dishes. Thanks for a great dinner and great time. A few bottles of wine and finished with a shot of tequila.... Our server Sam was wonderful and we also enjoyed spending time after the meal with Molly the GM as she told us all about the restaurants and event space. We will definitely be back... and soon! We ate at Olive and Oak and had very mixed feelings. We started with cocktails, the #122 was really good but the #82 was subpar. We has sour dough bread and house made butter brought to the table. The sour dough, from a nearby bakery was fantastic but the butter was way too salty. Next we order two appetizers: the yellow tail and the venison. The venison was one of the best dishes I have ever had. Then we had the beef tenderloin and the rabbit crepe. The tenderloin was good but again the rabbit was way too salty. It was the level of salty that left you gasping for water and your tongue numb. We ended with the carrot cake. It was okay. They really decided on form over function as the creme cheese topping was still frozen, but it was pretty. Overall, I might would go back but probably won't. It just didn't live up to the hype due to the over salted dishes. read more

This place is really noisy, so be forewarned! They really need to get the type of acoustic absorption panels used in many recording studios, libraries, churches, live music establishments and decent restaurants, to cut down on the extremely high decibels! Most of the food is very good, but some items are too salty. The men's room is clean; I didn't view the ladies' room. Our waiter, Eddie, was friendly, knowledgeable and punctual. This place is extremely noisy, however, so it's difficult to talk with anyone whose head is more than two and 1/2 feet away from yours! The place has a semi-hipster vibe, but that is tempered by a good minority of older, less-descript looking people, plus nicely dressed people of various ages. I don't recommend that men compete to see who is the most casually dressed here, such as just wearing a white tee shirt and a cap on backwards. We went on a Thursday night. Whichever night is the slowest one of the week might be best because it's so damn noisy at this eating establishment! read more

We had a great dining experience here! Relaxed atmosphere with a seasonal menu. We started with bbq octopus and they also serve rye and French bread with butter which was perfect. I ordered the #66 cocktail, an orange drink with aperol and bubbles followed by a glass of Albariño from Uruguay. We split the Caesar salad and the beets with pistachios and they were both yummy - crispy with a bit of crunch. I had the halibut and with the sides of the crispy/creamy polenta cake and the vinegar-y arugula salad it was the perfect bite. I didn't have room for dessert but I'll definitely be back to try more of their daily changing menu. The Best. Have been here three times now. And every time it is an experience, either I'm tasting something new, or the best version of a dish I've had. I've had some pretty fantastic beef tenderloin, but what olive + oak did was on a different level. All the fusions of flavors mix perfectly and are new and fresh. We enjoyed dinner with new friends at Olive + Oak in October of 2019, and I'll be honest in saying that I haven't been able to stop thinking about the meal since then. Thoughtful, revelatory flavor combinations, lovely ambiance & atmosphere, attentive & friendly service - all in all, a great dining experience. We'll be moving to Webster Groves within the next few months, and it's my hope to make Olive + Oak (and its new partnership with the epic Perennial Artisan Ales) a place that we regularly visit for dates, special meals, and times with friends. The quintessential date spot. We have searched near and far for the best place for celebrations and anniversaries and Olive and Oak fits the bill every time. An extensive cocktail menu that is both diverse and simple, there isn't a drink on their cocktail list you won't like. The menu gives you opportunities to mix and match every type of food to please your taste buds, and never disappoints. We often carryout the Blue Crab Gratin just for a night at home because it is THAT GOOD. If I ever learn to recreate that I'm in trouble. The cauliflower dish is a staple in our O+O evenings, it continues to blow us away every time. Yes, CAULIFLOWER! When it comes to the entrees, they have done an incredible job at constantly rotating menu items in and out so you're bound to try something new each time. We have yet to try something we didn't love! Beyond the food, the restaurant is so clean and stunning. The indoor and outdoor space is both so inviting, it's typically hard to choose. They additionally have an event space which I have not yet attended an event at myself however it always looks just beautiful when something is going on. and don't get my started on the pizza.... it's to die for. read more

Wife and I tried this place on a lark , having recently moved here and looking for a go-to place. Not quite sure if this will be it , and I'm hard pressed to see what the fuss is all about We sat at the bar because I'm not planning this kind of place weeks and weeks in advance . We had a couple of really good cocktails and tried a shrimp appetizer that was very undercooked , but otherwise tasty. $50 for 2 drinks and an appetizer , if it were better wouldn't have troubled me, but as it was we just left and went elsewhere. Overall seemed like a good spot, having a table probably would have made a difference. Will probably go back if I take the time to make a reservation . I've enjoyed Olive & Oak since the first moment I walked in. The story itself is enough to pull at your heart strings, something highlighted by the hearts that adorn this lovely Webster spot. The restaurant itself is filled with charm. Not only in its decor but via the staff itself. Always packed to the brim with happy patrons, this local gem is a perfect spot for any occasion. The cocktails are as good as expected but the food is certainly sure to please. The easy to navigate menu leaves you second guessing your final choices. The crab dip and chicken wings are SOLID appetizers. Packed full of flavor and easy to share. The little mess the sweet spicy and tangy wings result in as worth it as any wing you've had. The simple house side salad offered a light and crisp rest for the pallet as I geared up for the tenderloin. The beef was tender, expertly cooked, and coupled with delightful sides. All in all, I will be back and recommend it to any patron that is on the hunt for a neighborhood gem and a departure from the many city offerings. read more

Lovely place and our server was great, very attentive and the bussers were consistent with picking up used dishes, filling water glasses, etc. One complaint is our server brought us corn fritters , not ordered, as she had heard us talking about them, we thought they were complimentary and then when we paid, they were on our bill for $14.00. Seemed petty to complain, but didn't seem right. Food was good. Not a foodie, so i had the burger, burger good but the fries were very dark and almost had a burnt taste and were dry. My wife and I are foodies from the Bay Area and I've spent more money on food than I'd care to admit. Olive + Oak is a downright joke. Service was vapid and infantalizing. Ambiance was nice. To the food: it was neary inedible across the table. The duck was raw rather than medium, as it was requested. The fish was smelly. The risotto was worse than my homemade. The steak, as well as all the meat was drowned in tepid sauces. The dessert was entirely forgettable. The appetizers were not horrible but wouldn't be worth coming back for given how comically low quality and poorly conceived all the entrees were. The word NEVER has been applied to even giving these rip off artists another chance. Take a hard pass... Oh yeah, the oysters weren't fresh tasting nor were they shucked properly. Comically bad in so so many ways. Especially given what they are charging, which is way more than many of the one star Michelin restaurants I've enjoyed. read more

We made a last-minute reservation (3pm for a 4:30 dinner), and it was lucky that we were wanting an early dinner anyway. -The ambiance is wonderful. Thoughtfully designed from the logo to the seating areas to the acoustic treatments on the ceiling. It's not loud even when full. -The service is the perfect level of attentive and informed. -The food is delicious. Well balanced, flavorful, and good portions for price. Our group's order (yes, I tasted everyone's dish!) -Blue Crab Gratin: well worth your time, even if you don't usually go for an appetizer. I thought one of us was going to stick our finger in to lick out the remnants. Could maybe be served with a bit more bread (we ran out), but it's so good -The Duck: best duck I've ever eaten. Moist, slightly smoky, and the barley it's served on was perfect. The wine-plum sauce is perfect with it. I would consider this a must-try -Mushroom: essentially a vegetarian mushroom and brussel sprout stir fry on a lovely risotto cake -O+O Burger: a favorite for a reason. The pickle was perfectly thin and crisp. It's simple and delicious. Seasoned fries were yummy. -The Dip: a truly perfect lamb sandwich. And the bread (like every other bread item that crossed our table) was perfect. Desserts -Pot de Creme: incredibly rich, perfect salted caramel flavor -Chocolate Gooey Butter Cake: maybe more brownie than gooey butter, it's super rich and very chocolatey. The bourbon whipped cream is the perfect pairing with it -Torta di Riso: essentially a thickened chocolate rice pudding, chilled with a cherry glaze. Completely lives up to the hype. This was the best meal I've had in recent memory and I am still thinking about it days later. My husband and I came here for our wedding anniversary on a Thursday night with a reservation. We were seated immediately and greeted by our server shortly after. He was funny, friendly and knowledgeable and made the experience that much better. We had the blue crab gratin and split a Caesar salad to start. The crab dip was absolutely phenomenal, I would come back just for that. For our entrees my husband ordered the Gaucho steak and I ordered the Wahoo. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted good, but the Wahoo was incredible. It was served with a house-made potato bread that I would pay good money to purchase a la carte if it were an option. We finished with an off-menu pb&j gooey butter cake. The gooey butter cake had a grape compote swirl (I believe) and it was served with some kind of non-peanut nut butter (I really wish I remembered!) and it was one of the best desserts I've ever had.
