Tender and well seasoned. PLEASE, order a side of pita bread to finish the sauce in which the octopus is played on 10/10. The portion for the grilled octopus was very generous as well as the French fries. I also got a chicken wrap with a side of humus. 10/10 Service was slow. Was here on a Tuesday afternoon around 2 ish. However, took a good minute to get our drinks. Aside from that the decor and ambiance is beautiful. Gave me modern Greek western decor. After a rather result desultory meal on the patio of the Olive Pit Grill in Brea my buddy David and I agreed to share a dessert, their Bougatsa pastry which features Greek phyllo dough wrapped around a creamy Vanilla custard. Our server Christy noted our order, grabbed our check so she could amend it and turned around and said "That'll be thirty minutes, is that okay?' Since Dave and I were in a celebratory mood over his impending "grandfather" status, we consented. Talk about a total letdown! The bougatsa might as well be called a "Fuhgettaboutit!" The actual pastry is rather small, scarcely bigger than a deck of cards. The creamy vanilla custard inside was hotter than a jacuzzi in hell and I was forced to wash down my first of two whopping bites -remember, we shared it- with a copious pull of my Diet Coke. My entree, a Chicken Wrap, arrived drier than Don Rickles commentary and would've benefitted from a dressing, mayonnaise or even a lemony vinaigrette to make it's pairing of chicken, rice and Feta cheese go down, smoother. My poor pal David? Looked like a kid being forced to quaff Castor Oil while dueling with his twin appetizers of dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) and spanokopita (a Greek style quiche pastry comprised of Feta and spinach). Lest anyone accuse me of being anti-Greek fare, I plead "Diafonó," Greek for "I disagree!" Your favorite Yelp correspondent actually dines at a robust number of Mediterranean restaurants and actually wept when "Papa Cristo's" shuttered it's doors after 77yrs of glorious service in Los Angeles. Exquisite, soothing browns and earth tones welcome you into the dining space and whether you choose to dine indoors or out on the adjacent, covered patio wing, you can be assured of dining in one of the most pleasant LOOKING spaces of any restaurant who vies within the vast Mediterranean-Athenian-Lebanese diaspora. But the caliber of the food was, especially for the $65 tab before tip, quite the disappointment. Extremely disappointed with the service we received at Olive Pit. The manager working the lunch shift today was incredibly rude and made us feel completely unwelcome... I was in utter disbelief at her behavior! While we were still sitting in our booth socializing with an out of town guest after our meal, she came over and asked if we needed anything else, only to immediately tell us we had to leave because "someone was waiting" for the booth. The strange part was that the restaurant was practically empty, with multiple open tables and booths available both inside and outside. Instead of handling the situation professionally, we felt rushed out for no reason. Customer service and basic hospitality clearly were not a priority here. It felt unnecessary and honestly pretty rude, especially after we had just spent money there and were simply enjoying time with family/friends. Hospitality goes beyond serving food, and the way this situation was handled left a bad impression. Unfortunately, because of the manager's attitude, we won't be rushing back any time soon when we are usually regulars. read more

There is patio seating under shade but we opted to sit inside towards the back of the restaurant. Table with 2 chairs and a long bench with pillows. We ordered appetizer, sweat bell pepper poppers and fried zucchini. I had the 2 chicken kabob with mushroom, rice and pita bread. It was delicious. For $25, it was a good portion plate. I asked for small side of spicy hummus. We did not have dessert because we were full but tiramisu sounds good. The server was good checked in on us or would automatically bring refills. I came here for dinner on a Friday and luckily there was no wait. Our server was super nice and took our order quickly. I thought the restraunt was super cute and loved that it was really cozy. I got the steak wrap and it was alright, but a little messy to eat as they don't wrap the ends. Arley our server was very patient, helpful and kind. The Calamari had the perfect texture and flavor. The chicken and lamb kobobs easy to chew and great flavor. Mediterranean salad had a subtle flavor and the right amount of dressing. We arrived right before the lunch crowd and were able to eat outside on the side patio. It was a good size meal . Olive Pit has been one of my favorite restaurants for many years. I used to frequent the old Brea location as well. I think you will be satisfied with almost anything you order. It's a little pricey, but the flavor and satisfaction is worth it. My favs: Feta fries Tzatziki w/pita *Garden Salad + Chicken (not to be dramatic, but this is my favorite salad in the whole world lol) Add a Raspberry Iced Tea and it truly hits the spot. The restaurant is spacious and overall pretty nice. Dine-in service is a hit or miss, but I often order takeout. I definitely recommend giving it a try. read more

I had been once before a few years ago and decided that the menu was perfect for the type of meal I was looking for. We ordered the kabob plates. I ordered the shrimp and chicken kabobs while my bf ordered the steak kabobs. Mine were perfect with the right amount of seasoning and flavor. The sauce that they put atop the kabobs is delicious! My bf's critique of the steak is that he should've had it cooked differently but the flavor was there. I loved that our entrees were fresh and the portion sizes were appropriate. I was completely satisfied. I also ordered the lemon chicken and rice soup, which was delightful. It was different with the lemon flavor but a good different. I thoroughly enjoyed everything. I went for the lamb chops, which came with 5 pieces for $28. They were well-seasoned and tasty. I asked for medium and they came out a bit more medium-well, not the end of the world but something to note. The Caesar salad was nice and cheesy, and the grilled mushrooms were a solid side too. It also came with some super soft and fluffy pita slices, which were a nice touch. I had to steal some of my wife's hummus to enjoy the pita with. I also had a mojito -- it was good, but I wouldn't have minded if it packed a bit more punch! Service was good, no complaints here. Great spot in Brea! They also have a Huntington Beach location. The food is always really good! I'm a fan of the kabobs and their small bites are really good. Definitely get the Tzatziki! This location seems to always be pretty busy, I've been for lunch and dinner. The outside patio is nice, if you come during the day. It's very cute inside and nicely decorated. Both times I've been to this location the service has been kind of unwelcoming. Not rude or bad by any means, just kind of straight to the point and rushed. The tables in the middle section are also kind of crammed in. Maybe move the two top out from in between the two four tops. Or only seat people there when you're at capacity. Tonight was the THIRD time that either I or someone I know had to have their bill amended because there were drinks added to the bill "mistakenly." All large parties where it would be easy to do such an underhanded thing. Tonight I went back reluctantly and very wary for a bday dinner and waited for the bill and yep-- AGAIN, drinks were added to our bill that we did not order. What are the chances? We returned to the Olive Pit after such a great meal a year ago, I was so disappointed in my meal this time around. The salad and its dressing were lacking in flavor and the turkey meatball flatbread fell flat on flavor, it was overtaken with cheese. The feta fries were still a hit, but overall we were so bummed it wasn't as good as we remembered it to be. It was packed on a weekend, arrive early or make a reservation ahead of time. First time here and it was pretty good Mediterranean food. Came on Mother's Day, so it was pretty busy. Placed the order online, so you walk in and go to the back to the pick up area near the kitchen. They were swamped back there, but the food was ready pretty much when they said it would be ready. Nicely packaged and they did not miss any items when we got home and opened up all of the boxes. Plenty of parking is available at the parking structure behind the restaurant. Glad it is free and they don't charge for parking. Restaurant is very clean and has a nice ambience there for a date night or a dinner out with the family. As for the food, we got a variety of items including the whole roast chicken, lamb, shrimp, and beef skewers, pita, Niçoise salad with salmon, and sides including rice, artichokes, and mushrooms. Food was really good. My parents liked this place better than some others as they said the food here isn't as burned and charred as some of the other Mediterranean places we have gone to (panini grill, off the boat, etc.) Total for two family meals came to around $200, including tax and tip. My daughter ordered the two beef kabobs with basmati rice and the Rocka salad. My wife ordered the two chicken kabobs with basmati rice and the roasted mushrooms. Great choices. I have to tell you that I was mentioning that the chicken kabobs typically is better than the beef. When you think of premium you think of beef or lamb but I think the chicken are the best and they were at the Olive Pit too. We really enjoyed the three dip combo: the spicey cheese was very good as was the hummus but the Olivada was amazing.
