We've been coming to this spot in Brea for years and it's always been one of our go-to places. The food is consistently good, and usually the service is as well. However, during our recent visit, there was a mistake with my wife's order. When the server came back to check on us, I mentioned the mix-up but said it was fine and that we'd still eat it. Instead of acknowledging the mistake or offering a solution, the server insisted that it was the correct dish and that's what she had written down. I explained kindly that we've ordered the same thing here for years and this wasn't it--especially since the dish had onions, which we never order. It wasn't so much the mix-up that bothered me, but rather the way it was handled. A simple "I'm sorry" or some effort to make it right would have gone a long way. That said, because this is one of our usual spots and the food is still solid, I did leave a 20% tip. But the experience left us a bit disappointed. read more

I saw so many reviews about their lamb chops being good, but even with those expectations on my mind, I was blown away. I got the 5 piece lamb chops done medium rare with artichoke hearts and the Mediterranean salad and it was a STEAL for the price. The lamb chops were sourced from NZ and were a bit smaller than I expected, but the flavor and the tenderness was out of this world. We came here last week for the first time ever and I think this place needs to be on our list of most frequented spots! Sadly it's a bit of a drive for us but so worth it!! Julie was our waitress on Friday. We came in around 5pm and it got pretty busy once we had been there a bit but there was still plenty of seating and service was fast. Julie was helpful with some questions we had as it was our first visit. Our orders were perfect! I asked to sub one of the sides for grape leaves for an up charge (they make them here with ground turkey which is my favorite vs the cold rice kind). Between my wife and I we got lamb steak and shrimp kabobs which were all cooked perfectly and then we also shared an order of Feta fries. Wow!! They were amazing! I had to try the Cranberry Fig Martini. It was also delicious and pretty with a rosemary sprig on top. Interior is super cute with a Mediterranean vibe that feels festive! I ordered the lamb gyro combo plate with roasted mushrooms and roasted artichokes. I was disappointed with the gyro meat as it was sliced thicker than I'm used to and it was very dry. I would not recommend the falafel, as it was maybe the worst I have ever tried. Soft and mushy. No reservations at Olive Pit - get there early to avoid the wait! Our party of 10 arrived around 5pm to grab a table on a Saturday evening. Thankfully there was no wait but the crowd did start picking up by 5:30pm. Nice and cozy dine in ambiance with TVs scattered throughout (they were playing big sporting games). Grilled Salmon Entree Plate ($24): Salmon served alongside pita bread and two side choices - opted for the rice and grilled vegetables. Salmon was tender and flakey but the portion was a bit small. The rice has a dollop of tzatziki sauce on top to which I asked on the side to dip my pita bread - wish it came with a bigger portion though as the dollop is very small, otherwise, it would count as a "side" option. We brought a cake to celebrate two birthdays but the $15 cake fee is a bit steep, IMO. Our server was nice enough to bring out two baklava's with a to celebrate. It was citrusy, tangy and garlicky. For entrees, I ordered fillet de sole (fish) and pastitsio. The order of fish comes with two sides. For the sides, I picked the oven roasted potatoes and Mediterranean salad. The Mediterranean salad came with tomato, olives (unpitted), red onions and feta cheese. The fillet de sole was served with a lemon sauce. Everything about this dish was delicious. Pastitsio is a Greek style lasagna. It was very cheesy and comforting to the soul. I wished that the dish would come with a side of salad to balance out the starchiness of the lasagna. It was delicious regardless. Prepare to wait at this restaurant. My boyfriend and I had one of the most amazing dinners ever! As soon as we got there we were seated quickly. The hostess and our waiter were both extremely kind and attentive. It was not too busy in the restaurant at the time, so it was nice and quiet and we had a very peaceful meal. For an appetizer, we ordered the fried zucchini which came out piping hot and paired with an amazing sauce. For mains, we both ordered the 5pc lamb chops cooked medium rare. I got a garden salad and roasted mushrooms for my sides, and my boyfriend got tzatziki and artichoke for his. The lamb was seasoned perfectly and was extremely tender and juicy. Pairing it with the tzatziki was especially delicious and I would highly recommend it. All of the sides were delicious, and each plate came with a pita bread as well. For dessert, we ordered the tiramisu and greek yogurt. The tiramisu had the perfect balance of coffee and creaminess. The greek yogurt was truly unique and amazing. The combination of the tart cherry, honey, and nuts was perfect and like nothing I've had before. The staff was extremely kind and considerate, despite us coming in closer to closing. We did not feel rushed at all. Overall, this was one of the most perfect dinners we have ever had. Flatbread Wrap w/ 1 small bite Sirloin Steak w/ Hummus $18 WRAPS INCLUDE: lettuce, marinated tomato, feta, rice, pickled red onions, green olive pesto, and tzatziki in a whole wheat flat bread. Entrée w/ 2 small bites (served with pita) Grilled Chicken w/ Basmati Rice and Grilled Vegetables $22 The grilled chicken was a bit tough, with some parts that were inedible. The grilled vegetables were large pieces, meaning one would need to use a knife and fork to cut them into smaller pieces to eat. We used to love ordering the Gyro, but we did not see it on the menu so it was disappointing. The flatbread wrap was just not the same, and it was more wrap than inside ingredients. Mediterranean food is always delish and one feels great after eating it. It is more of a treat with inflation prices. We also ordered the meatball saganakl which comes in Tomato sauce, ouzo, feta & basil. Super good nice and tender and full of flavor. The fried cheese ravioli was next and my partner loved them. I have been coming to Olive Pit in the last few years and recently visited with a group of friends after church, hoping for a satisfying lunch. We were fortunate to secure a table for 9 within about 10 minutes, which was a relief. Our server, Bianca, and the staff were attentive and ensured we had a great time. We tried a variety of dishes: Calamari, the three-dip combo, lamb sausage pizza, pesto chicken pizza, lamb chops, chicken kabob, lamb burger, steak, and chicken kabob plate. Each dish was delightful, though the food took a bit longer than expected--understandable considering the bustling crowd. Despite the wait, I left thoroughly pleased with the overall experience. I get to the car, opened to bag and noticed they they gave me one meal with three kabobs, the girl that helped me made it very clear by her energy it was my fault so I accepted full blame . Probably best that you park at the structure. This place has patio seating and also inside dining along with bar area you can sit if you are there for light bite or just drinks. They were pretty busy for early Wednesday night dinner. We had just missed the happy hour but they have daily specials you can take advantage of. Food was super great and portions were good as well. You can even walk along a path to the front of the restaurant, so that's an easy experience! We got seated immediately, ordered pretty quickly, and got our food promptly. Everyone will always make sure you're being taken care of. If they see your eye looking around for the waiter if you haven't been helped yet, someone will come to assist, even if it's not who will be waiting on you. Love that. To start off we always go with the calamari. It's served with a really good creamy lemon aioli. And with the entrees, I usually choose the beer battered fries as one of the sides. They are exceptional! So good you don't even need ketchup. There's a really good happy hour too weekdays from 2-5pm. And the baklava ice cream is the perfect dessert to finish your meal.
