We unexpectedly dined here the other night because the restaurant we wanted had a 90-minute wait. So we just walked around, saw a familiar named restaurant, and thought, "what the heck." What the heck indeed. The food was not good at all, which is surprising. I've eaten here in the past and thought they were pretty decent. I hear that the chain has a new owner now so that may explain some things. They have a $40 dinner special that includes Caesar's Salad, Garlic Bread, and Lasagna. Sounds like a great deal, but sad to say, my only favorite part of this trio is the salad. Although the garlic bread was crispy, it tasted like it wasn't baked all the way through. The lasagna came out looking messy, tasted kinda sour and just wasn't cooked right or something. Overall disappointing experience. My husband and I decided to stop here for lunch after going to Brea Mall. They offer some great Lunch Specials. I ordered Baked Rigatoni, and my husband ordered Spaghetti with Meatball. We both got a Mixed Green Salad. Our server brought out some warm bread with olive oil and balsamic. OMG. It was amazing! I ate so much bread and salad that I could barely eat any of my rigatoni. Do NOT recommend this place at all. Service was absolutely horrible. The bar tender ended up being our waitress. Bar is in the front of the restaurant. We were in the back. As a manager I don't know how he would think that is doable. Took forever just to get our drinks. I ended up having to go to the bar just to get our first round. While waiting for someone to serve us, there was another two servers there that just looked at us and said nothing. Never offered to help or at least say I'll get your server. My daughter ordered a shrimp appetizer that was completely cold. My wife and I ordered the stuffed shells which cost $57 dollars. Had to scrape the bottom of the plate just to put some damn sauce on it. Kiddos wanted dessert which reluctantly my wife did not want to do, due to the long wait time for drinks and such. Took about 30-40 minutes just to get two orders of dessert. Not a big tasker. Just two orders of cannoli. Save yourself the disappointment and not go here. The menu was different, none-of the specials or family meals where being offered and worst yet, the fettuccini alfredo was TOTALLY different too and that's exactly what we went for. It had this weird thick texture and with very little sauce. Sparse amount of chicken and it two seemed as if it had been frozen as it was very chewy and un-pleasant. TLDR: great food, poor service, and not good for celebrations. Just order takeout/delivery. My parents are visiting town for the holidays from abroad and it was their wedding anniversary. They said they wanted Italian food and my bf and I decided to bring them here since they had never tried it and we were a big enough party to enjoy multiple dishes. My bf thought ahead and decided to make a reservation for Saturday night 7pm and added in the notes that it was their anniversary. They are conveniently located off the 57 on imperial hwy with limited parking on the front but plenty in the back. They have a very unique style with it being family oriented and older era feel. When we checked in, the host confirmed that we were celebrating an anniversary. We waited about 5 mins after checking in for us to be seated. Our waitress was friendly and walked us to our table where she confirmed whose anniversary it was. Their dishes are large and family oriented for sharing. We saw that they have a $40 special that includes salad, garlic bread and a pasta dish (2 options). So we went for this with a caesar salad, meat sauce spaghetti and we added an order of meatballs and prosciutto wrapped chicken. We brought our own wine and had the corkage fee. Our waitress brought our wine glasses promptly and opened the bottle. One of our glasses had lipstick stains and she kindly changed it for us. We also asked for waters for the table. The food came out at a reasonable time starting with their complimentary bread which was fresh and warm, followed by their tray of garlic bread which was also fresh and it is made with real garlic as you can still see the pieces. The caesar salad was crunchy and fresh. It was a large portion enough for the 5 of us. The spaghetti was perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious and plenty, but even better with their delicious giant meatballs! The meatballs are huge so we were cutting portions of them. The best dish of the night was the prosciutto wrapped chicken, it was similar to a chicken parmigiana with prosciutto in the middle and a delicious green sauce. The chicken was really juicy and tasty. Needless to say, the food was excellent! The service on the other hand wasn't great. We had to ask for the water multiple times and finally got them after we were already enjoying our entrees. Once we were done, we asked for boxes to go for the little bit of left overs we had. I was expecting a dessert menu for them as they LOVE tiramisu, but our waitress asked us if we were ready for the check instead. I was extremely disappointed that at no point did they get a "happy anniversary " by anyone. All this being said, I would highly recommend to go anywhere else if you are celebrating anything. read more
