I heard about this place a year or so ago. I don't live near the area, but decided to give it a try when I left work one day. I called and placed an order for pick-up. I opted to try the sticky beef ribs, mac n cheese, string beans, yams and paid extra for a side of potato salad. I arrived at 3:00 pm and my food was waiting for me. Yay!!! I arrived home eager to try everything. The beef sticky ribs were massive and had good flavor. I wish I had gotten some extra sauce bc I would have loved to have more sauce on the massive ribs. The mac n cheese was yummy. It was cheesy, flavorful and smoky. I moved on to the yams. I felt the yams were solid. They had just the right amount of sweetness with a little tang. Next up, the string beans. Now, the string beans were some of the best beans I ever had. They were seasoned perfectly. I could tell they were fresh and prepared with lots of love. Last, but not least, the potato salad. I liked the potato salad. I did feel the potatoes could have been cooked a little more as I kinda like my potatoes to be a little more mushy. However, the flavor of the potato salad was really good. Overall, I enjoyed my first meal from Oliver's Twist. Notice, I said my FIRST meal bc it definitely won't be my last. read more

Absolutely the best vegan food I've ever tasted! Always customer service oriented and I love coming and smelling the good scents and hearing the uplifting music. It kind of makes you feel like you're in this cool city restaurant but, with no stressful parking and no toll fees! The service was awesome. Friendly atmosphere. The food was delicious, finger licking, lips smacking good. There are two options of meals ; vegan and non vegan. I ordered the vegan meal crab cake, rice, Mac n cheese, sweet potatoes and a non vegan sweet potato pie. You can sit in the restaurant and eat your meal. There are different menus during the week. Couldn't wait to give this place a try! We walked in to a hello from an employee sitting having her lunch in the dining area. The place is very clean, bright & nicely decorated. The young lady behind the register was on the phone taking an order so we wandered around checking out the menu & food behind the counters. There was a vegan side & a non vegan side, a wall of prepared individually wrapped desserts and a refrigerated area of cold drinks. All the drinks looked inviting but were all full of sugar. I wish there was a non sugar or low calorie choice other than water. Ten minutes in and our cashier/waitress was still on the phone. (And no acknowledgment/or hello, I'll be with you shortly) Finally, she was clear...so what do you want was her first comment to us. Disappointing. I asked about the fish, Basa no thank you. I ordered the salmon which included 2 spinach crab stuffed raviolis. It was delicious!! Three sides were included. Candied sweet potatoes, collards & mac n cheese were ALL OUTSTANDING!!! Best we've tasted around, including mine. The portions were nice to correlate with its $26 price. Hubby chose the fried chicken @$24 with 3 sides included. Garlic mashed (AMAZING), collards & mac n cheese! He ate it all & it was a lot! Yep, we'll be back! I'd love to meet the owner as much respect for her chef skills! read more

OK we just found out about Oliver's Twist and that they have a vegan menu. The website says they often run out of food by late in the day and now we know why. It is fantastic food. We got the vegan crab cakes (entrees come with 3 sides) with the vegan Mac and Cheese, the rice, and the green beans. We also got two deserts, vegan sweet potato pie and a vegan apple cookie. It was amazing and so much food that one of us (not me) has enough to eat for lunch the next day. I was 20 minutes late picking it up but they clearly kept it warm while they waited for me and it was still hot when we got it home and it was amazing. They are not open late (6:30pm I think) so it was a great excuse to leave work on time on a Friday for once. We can't wait to go back! read more

This restaurant is beautifully decorated and the staff is so nice! They have vegan and non-vegan options served cafeteria style. We chose the non-vegan and were not disappointed. We had the orange chicken with 3 sides. I chose the mac n cheese, fried cabbage, and the baked sweet potatoes. The sides were incredibly delicious! I was disappointed that you only get 1 small piece of chicken with your meal and it was a bit overdone. I believe that they change their menu daily and I'm excited to see what else they'll be serving. Definitely worth a return trip. read more

Best. Food. In. South. Jersey. Went in last week for their fried fish. Been wanting to try their food. Not only was the fried fish the best I've had in years, but the sides are exceptional too. The green beans, mashed sweet potatoes and mac n cheese. Their corn bread is addictive. As truly amazing as their food is, the service and people are even better. I don't think I've ever been in a restaurant with nicer staff. The overall vibe at the place is positive. Their food and their staff are full of love. I used this restaurant to cater my graduation party. I'd recommend calling to place your order since the website malfunctioned when I tried to get a quote. They were able to fit me in last minute which was great, but whoever packed the food did not do a great job. The collard greens leaked all over the backseat of my rental car; I traveled less than a mile from the restaurant back to my house, so it would've been much worse if the trip was longer. They also forgot to include a whole tray of food that I ordered, which was quite frustrating, especially considering how expensive it was. When I followed up with them about it, I was told the owner would reach out but never did. All in all, the food was ok, but I don't think I would order recommend them or order from them or again, especially given the cost. read more

For me, this restaurant is a hit or miss. Depending on who's cooking. First, when u call u are asked about paying over the phone with a card. For a 50 dollar platters?? Drove 2 hours and I don't regret it. The vegan short ribs so delicious and well seasoned. The vegan side dishes sweet potatoes, beans & rice, Mac& Cheese taste as if my grandma had made it. Wow I finally found a Soul Food Restaurant in New Jersey that's 100% on point. The lemonades is ridiculous good. I wanted to love this place. Food was just ok. Crab cakes was stiff and breading was a weird texture. Beef ribs had good taste but extremely fatty and you only get one rib for $22. I had more fat than meat. Greens was on point and the best I had from a soul food restaurant by far. Fry chicken was extremely dry and disappointing. Mac and cheese needs another try at getting it right. Candied sweets potatoes had a good taste but very stringy but that's the problem when you use canned sweet potatoes. I don't think I will coming back unless they change a few of there recipes. Just my opinion please go try them out for yourself. read more
