Food was incredible! Haven't had those flavors since we visited Greece. House salad very fresh and crispy, pita bread warm, moussaka best ever and meats delightful. I was very hungry and kabob plate portion small so if you're really hungry go for larger portions. We split a pistachio baklava for dessert. Best I've had in Houston. Better than Nikos. We've dined here at least once a month for the last year or so and I'm just now getting around to writing a review. In a word, this place is AWESOME! Hands down the best and freshest pita bread in town! The vegetarian platter is large enough to split between 3 adults. Weekends are busy so expect a slight wait or slow service, but all worth it. They have some great tiramisu on their menu too. I'm pretty sure they don't make it but it's oh-so-good! We take out out-of-town visitors out to Olivit and it's always a huge hit. Oh Lord what a wonderful delight tucked away in this shopping center. Was looking for a little change from the norm and spotted this restaurant. Stopped in ordered the the cream chicken as it had a strong recommendation. I was delighted with the flavor and portion it was awesome more then I expected. I'm extremely glad to see a decent Middle Eastern restaurant in this part of town. Fadi's is really far from Spring. I have had the fatoush, the hummujs, baba ghanouj, and lentil soup, and they are all excellent. The bread is freshly made, and soooo good. Better than at Fadi's. We drove to this place for lunch today because it has 4-star review on Yelp and we like Mediterranean grill. I have to say we are totally disappointed. Not only is the food just so-so, but also is the service terrible. We had a very long waiting time before the food we ordered got served. We are pretty sure that the customers who ordered later than us got food much earlier than we did. The waiter seemed to totally forgot us and did not come once during this period. She came to other tables asking if they need any help, though. The situation did not improve after our food finally arrived: the waiter did not come once until we ask for the check. Never ever ever going to Olivit again. I just went with 2 friends and was told they were only doing to-go orders. They open at 11 and we got there at 11:05. If you are able to do to-go, then you should be able to walk the food to my table, right? The restaurant manager, John, was totally unprofessional. Gyro's tasted like a bad bean burrito... I went for lunch and thought I would try one of their Gyro's which had meat with the consistency of bean paste. I may have to give it another go but I had awful food with unsatisfactory service. I believe there is much better Mediterranean food in the Area. read more

My boyfriend and I got a restaurants.com gift card and decided to use it to try this place out. We went there for dinner last night and will definitely not be back! The place was crowded so the service was slow, which wasn't a big deal. Their fryer was supposedly broken, although the dirty table next to us had a plate of fries on it, and the customers were not told of the inconvenience until they ordered something fried. Although the fryer being broken worked to my advantage (since I really wanted fries, but I'm counting calories) I feel that the guests should have been forewarned. The hummus and pita bread was probably the best part of our meal, although we ordered spicy hummus and it was not spicy at all. I had the creamy chicken tekka, which was okay. The chicken was burnt and it did have an unforgettable taste, but not in a good way. I don't remember what my boyfriend had, but he wasn't too thrilled about his dish either. I have never had Mediterranean food and wanted to try something new, but I don't think this was the best place to be adventurous. read more

I work nearby Olivit and finally decided to try it. Staff behind the counter was full of smiles and friendly but I can not say that for the young men waiting tables. The food took an exceptionally long time to come to the table but it was over the top great when it finally came. Despite the long wait, I will be back. The food is really really really good. It's alright. I can't help think of Kababi Zaytoon's lunch special or Zamani's shawarma or Anthonie's gyro when I come here. And all of those are better than this place. I've come here several times and can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet. Seems as if its a family run business and the owners seat/ serve you. They bring out piping hot just made pita bread yummm its so good. They don't bring hummus with the pita you have to order it separately but they do have olive oil on the table. I usually get a greek salad because you can't go wrong with that, the give a huge portion of chicken. I tried the grape leaves today they were good but lacking the typical faint lemon taste. This place used to be good, but seems to have gone down the steepest of hills. I used to come here for gyros occasionally, and as time progressed the service got worse and worse. The restaurant is small and could probably be handled by a couple good waiters, but they don't even have that anymore. Last time I went here there was only one waiter and he was struggling with the four tables that were occupied. We had to wait 15 minutes just to get our drinks, and another 10 to get our hummus, a dish which I know is already prepared and only has to be plated. Then I decided to try something I hadn't ordered here before, so I ordered the lamb and beef kabab plate with rice and soup. The kabab plate is supposed to be skewers of beef and lamb with tomatoes and onions. However, when it came out there was only one small scoop of rice and four tiny pieces of meat, which were burnt. The portion size seemed to be about right for a small child. Furthermore, the onions and tomatoes were clearly not cooked on the skewer as they were cold, and on the side. The only constellation was that the zenga soup was mediocre and edible. I was very disappointed, and will not be coming back. I doubt this place will be in business much longer based on the service, terrible food, and lack of clientele. My advice is to STEER CLEAR!! read more

My wife and I have eaten at Olivit many times and we really enjoy the food and the atmosphere. We ususally get the gyro sandwich which is delicious and great price at $4.99. The gyro is beef and lamb meat with tomatos, onions, and a cucumber sauce served wraped in pita bread. The hummus is very good and we especially enjoy the warm pita bread that comes with the hummus. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean. We enjoy being reminded of our visit to the Mediterranean area. Give Olivit a try, and you'll enjoy it. read more

We went as a group of 4 and had the most horrible experience. I would not recommend going to this place at all! We had a waitress who was constantly forgetting our orders! Two groups of people came in after us and they got their iced tea glasses before I got my refill because 'they were still brewing a new batch!' In all reality, she didn't even go and check to see if the tea was done being brewed. Needless to say, I got my refill after I was done eating, and was full with water! We got charged for a side of extra sauce that we got after we were almost done eating, and after 20 minutes from asking for it. Half of our order didn't come out correctly. Missed items and late items. And all we got In the end was 'I'm sorry for this, I have never seen this place so busy!' Ummm excuse me? There were at least 6 open tables and there was no line at the door. I have seen busy and this was by far not busy at all! They could have at least comped the side of sauce, or something. I am a huge believer in good customer service and this was not that at all! When at the end of dinner we asked for water, she came with a jug of water, and forgot cups. In anticipation of having to wait 20 minutes for water, we just asked her to refill the empty glass of Pepsi with water. All in all, go there if you choose, but I would not send anyone that way! read more

I'm originally from the Detroit area, which has the best Middle Eastern food outside of the Middle East and I'm happy to say Olivit met my expectations. This place is way better than Fadi's. The food was a little more bland that I like, but it's been the closest thing I've found in the Houston area to authentic, quality, flavorful Middle Eastern food. They really did a great job with their authentic Garlic Sauce (Olivit calls it Garlic Cream). I got the Tawook (great grilled white meat chicken) they even had the pickles! who hoo! I will be back to try their Gyros. I thought the hummus needed some more lemon, it was a little bland, but the consistency was perfect. So excited to have found this place, can't wait to go back! read more

friday nite-8:30 or so, just a couple of other tables of families in the restaurant. our very young waitress was personable and accommodating. it's BYOB for $4 pp-the wine glasses are laughable-lightweight gold plastic, but am happy to go that route than pay twice that for some gallo product they would have otherwise been serving. falafel-very tasty, far better than Niko Niko's. entrees come with salad-the lettuce was predictably tired and starting to brown, but the dressing was delicious-kept eating it just for the dressing, split a combo plate-everything on it was cooked correctly and delivered good flavors-including a really creamy hummus. the only negative of the evening was that, since it was slow and almost closing time, the kitchen got a head start on cleaning and the bleach and cleaning fluid smells emanating were really obnoxious. never understand why restaurants do this-especially in a place where the kitchen is open to the dining room. will just make a note to go earlier next time-but, please, Olivit, consider focusing on making your customer's experience pleasurable from start to finish-no matter what time of day. read more

When I entered I was told to take a seat anywhere. Upon looking at the dining area all of the tables that were vacant were full of dirty dishes. So the gentleman at the front cleared on off. He didn't clear all of the tables so I sat surrounded by dirty tables with the grey dish container right next to me on the next table. Talk about appetizing. The menu is not descriptive enough. I asked about a sample appetizer. I assumed it was adequately explained to me however it wasn't. I ended up with three or four dough bundles with various tasteless filings. read more

My boyfriend and I frequent this place. The spicy hummus is AMAZING and the chicken kabobs are definitely moist. This is a great spot for Mediterranean. The service isn't always consistent which is the only downfall. It seems like they are sometimes short handed with inconsistent training. All in all, the food is what keeps me coming back! read more

Tried this place yesterday. It was my first time trying Mediterranean food and it was pretty good. Started with the original hummus that was served with some yummy bread. I was pleasantly surprised at how good their hummus was especially since I'm not at fan of hummus. Well I can't say that anyone because they've changed my mind. For my entree I had a veggie wrap with fries. The wrap was good, the only thing that I didn't care for was that the breading on the wrap was hard. My fries were cooked well to my liking which I loved!! The service was friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere was very qant. The only thing that I will advice against is drinking the water. It was highly disgusting. I usually try to cut the taste of tap water with lemons but after four lemons the taste was still terrible. When I couldn't stomach it any longer I ordered a iced tea but it wasn't much better because they use the nasty water which makes the tea have a nasty after taste. Overall Olivit was good and I would recommend them and will be going back. read more

My wife and I decided to go out for a late Saturday night dinner (no kids!). We had heard good things and saw good reviews about Olivit. We arrived shortly after 9:00 pm, expecting to find a bustling place - I knew they closed at 10:00. There were two other couples there. The waiter was very pleasant and hyperactive, usually an OK combination but it was a bit much. My wife had 3/4 cup (with an apology) of lentil soup and I had a cup of zenga which had a 1/2" of oil on top. The lamb hummus was tasty and the pita bread was very warm and soft. I had the lamb quallaya which was just OK - tiny cubes of lamb with vegetables rolled up. My wife had lamb kabobs which were very well done. We chocked up the unremarkable food and visit overall to the time of night and decided that we should give it a try again earlier in the day. read more

We were very disappointed in this eatery. When we arrived there were a few full tables, but they were not busy. They seated us promptly, but they never got around to taking our order. We really wanted to experience this place. I knew they were short on staff when I saw the person cleaning the tables asking for help with taking orders. The person that helped took the order of the last persons seated in the place. I can't make any comments on the food, because we never got to try it. They really need to schedule more staff for Friday nights. read more
