I bought some olive oil this holiday season and found the owner very rude. Almost left and I should have. My second mistake was ordering online. The package was sent to the wrong address and I called them about it. I have never received such bad customer service. He actually yelled at me that it was my mistake, didn't listen to what I was telling him and hung up on me. Super friendly and helpful. Went back today, our second visit to the store. They give you a discount if you bring back your bottles. We refilled our Butter infused olive oil ( this is non-dairy) and our Neapolitan Herb Balsamic Vinegar. For the Butter Olive Oil was $29 minus a few more dollars for the refill bottle, probably $4. This sounds like a lot of dough I know, but this is the biggest bottle they have and it lasts us two years using it regularly, so it's a good investment for us. The balsamic vinegar - the smaller bottle they have (which is still quite a lot of product) was $12, minus $2 dollars for the refills bottle. Our total was $36. We were very happy with our service and absolutely love their many, many flavors. We also have their Blood Orange olive oil which we use in brownies - it's out of this world!!! read more

And upon entering the store, you can sample each and every one to figure out your favorites. I opted for the strawberry balsamic and the organic garlic olive oil. They're excellent. A friend recently turned me on to balsamic vinegar flavored with vanilla and I discovered a whole new world of taste. Simple sandwiches are transformed! Salads, vegetables, even desserts taste better with flavored balsamic vinegar, and it is healthier than Mayo and other condiments. So while Outside in the lower 48 I wanted to purchase vinegars to drag home to Alaska with me. Luckily for me Olympia Olive Oil opened since I'd last visited lovely Olympia. The cute shop has a pleasant feel. It's clean, quiet, open, and spacious. The walls and center of the room are lined with a large assortment of flavored vinegars and oils. The men working in the shop were helpful and pleasant. Because I was packing my bottles into suitcases, they sealed my bottles and gave me packing tips. All five bottles made it home without any breaks or leaks. In the shop, customers may taste any and all flavors before purchasing. The delicious and healthful vinegars are somewhat of a luxury item, yes, but the prices are better than Alaska's. I was happy to pay Washington state prices for variety and good quality, not to mention taking the time to taste a wide variety of balsamic vinegars was fun. I left happy and came home with ginger-honey, lemongrass-mint, blackberry-ginger, and dark chocolate balsamic vinegars. Yes, you read that correctly. I did write dark chocolate balsamic vinegar. The oil is very good. The service however is the WORST I have ever had in this town. We poured our own oil and accidentally spilled a little and when we apologized to the guy working he responded condescendingly with "That's why we do it for our customers" and walked away. If you don't want customers to self pour their oil, either put some signs up or mention it when you ask if they has any questions. I guarantee I am not the only person who has made that mistake. It is bad customer service to be rude to people who are there to buy things from you. Also, if it's your policy to not have gift boxes, make it your policy for everyone rather than selectively deciding to change it. Cashier girl, this is your opportunity to try to sell some sort of wrapping suggestion or bag. While I did enjoy the product, I'd rather spend my money at places that treat their customers well. I have traveled and eaten around the Mediterranean and the olive oil sold here rivals anything I have ever had. Whoever is buying this oil is a real expert. And it is fresh, (which I now know makes all the difference), bottled on the premises, and you can sample just about every oil they sell. I will never again spend big bucks for a bottle of "premium" olive oil that has gone stale from sitting on the shelf for who knows how long. These guys only sell olive oil that's in season and less than 6 months old. You want olive oil from Italy in November? Sorry, it's not available until January. But try the several olive oils from Chile which are in season now. I'll bet they will be the best you've ever tasted. Or try the fresh California olive oil. Outstanding! Yes, they sell a delicious white balsamic vinegar which comes with many flavorings. And if your into food and cooking, some of these should definitely be in your pantry. But for me it's all about the olive oil! For all of you who want to have really good food products available here in Olympia, I beg you to please patronize this store. I travel from Tacoma to go to OOO. They have a great variety and you get to try everything! Just went back to get my refills (4 bottles) and bought a new Balsamic Vinegar, DARK CHOCOLATE. Can't wait to try in on my salad. My favorite is the Butter flavored OO. I use it for all my cooking instead of using butter. Everything tastes as if it were cooked in butter without the guilt! The manager is way too up his own ass for the quality of the product. My roommate and I came in about a week ago for some olive oil and vinegar for the homemade bread I was making, and the second we walked in, we were greeted by the dirtiest looks from the manager. Mind you, neither of us were wearing shabby or tattered clothing, and both of us had showered only a few hours prior. He proceeded to watch us like a hawk while we browsed, and not in a friendly "can-I-help-you" sort of way. When he finally did speak to us (after about 5 minutes of being in the store) it was only to abruptly ask us if we were looking for something specific. I told him it was for bread, and he just pointed behind us and said "you want the Italian herb", and then went back to whatever it is he was doing, which by the look of it wasn't much. He wasn't much for conversation, and didn't seem happy that we were taking our time. We quickly made our choices (original balsamic and Italian herb oil), and the total came out to $24. ...excuse me? To be frank about the quality of the product, it's fine. It's not amazing. I don't really think it's worth $12 a bottle. The balsamic is a well balanced combo of tart and sweet, which is nice but hardly a selling point (whoa stop the presses balsamic is tart and sweet everyone). The oil, on the other hand, tastes like it's been herb flavored, not infused. Almost like it was made using essential oils instead of soaking fresh herbs for the taste, or maybe the herbs weren't fresh or were soaked too long. That gives it an almost artificial quality to the flavoring that thankfully can be managed with the balsamic vinegar, but I can't imagine what other flavors of oil like "chili lime" and "lemon basil" will be. In short, it's fine. Not $12 fine and not worth putting up with a rude manager who feels as though his papyrus font labels are classy. Just get yourself a nice $5 bottle of organic stuff from Hagans. read more

I love the oils and vinegars here, especially the toasted sesame oil. Delicious! However, I must agree with a few other reviewers in that the gentleman there (John), is not at all friendly or helpful. I went today as I received an email that advertised a 35% off sale while he was on vacation. The deal was a bit of a rip off for regular customers, as normally you receive $2 off for reusing your bottles. this was not offered with the 25% offer. Disappointing. I will buy my sesame oil and other specialty oils and vinegars occasionally, but I won't make it a regular stop. read more

This place is fantastic. Huge variety of high quality oils and vinegars. You can even sample them. In the summer we love to use a lemon oil (or vinegar) on pound cake. Wonderful on salad too. I love this store! They have the freshest best tasting olive oils. I wish the service was a little better though. The guy that helped me this last time just said hi when I walked in the door. After about 10 minutes of looking around at the oils he finally asked if he could help me find something. Customer service could use some help, for sure. Olympia Olive Oil acquainted my wife and me with the surprisingly large array of uses for flavored olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We have been purchasing high-quality oil and vinegar from this store, both online and in person, for over six years. The company's Garlic Infused Olive Oil is our go-to oil for cooking; however, we also love using the company's flavored balsamic vinegar products for salads and dressing chicken. On July 6, 2019, we stopped by the shop on our way from our home in Kirkland, WA to a city south of the shop's downtown Olympia location. During this visit, I had my first in-person encounter with the owner J.T., who has owned OOO for the past 2.5 years. The shop is clean, attractive, and proffers a huge selection of products. J.T. is knowledgeable, friendly, and generous. 8/2/14 There olive oil and balsamic are great! Customer service is lousy. I've never really had good service here. Went into OOO this morning at 11:00. Door was unlocked. When I walked in, I was greated by one of the owners. He said, "we are not open yet." I said, "okay." Stood there for a couple of seconds. He said, "it's not 11:00 yet." By my watch it was 11:00. Fantastic little store, super friendly and helpful staff...I have been losing weight by trying to eat healthier, and the flavored vinegar is so good it can REPLACE salad dressing alone!! ( Or just help you make a better, healthier dressing from scratch) The oils are lovely as marinades or finishing oils, and MUCH better for you, without all the nasty preservatives and chemicals in grocery store bought dressings!
