Olympia pizza is a simile for me. It is like (or as) an old friend that you've spent many amazing times with, but most days are failry average. I've experienced heavenly meals which have almost brought me to tears-food I am sure that Jesus himself prepared. And then due to myself setting the bar so high, many meals have been cooked by the hands of mere mortals. The service has always been friendly and i've never had to wait in line. I especially enjoy the Greek music. Keep your ears open for the Nickleback cover "how you remind me". Let it be known that I am not a Nickleback fan. In my opinion, Olympia has the potential to be the best greek house in all of Vancouver. The only thing they lack is consistency. That's the only reason I can't give them 5 stars. Excellent Pepperoni Pizza, Lasagna, BBQ ribs and Calamari. The BBQ Rib dinner comes with a full order of Lasagna and good for sharing for two people. Prompt service and tasty home made tasting food, makes up for not having to cook tonight. The price is modest for the amount of food you receive. So last night my husband and I came to dinner at your Olympia Pizza. It was a place my husband used to go to all the time with his parents. Even after his mom got sick and couldn't go out anymore he would get her take out. After my husband lost her and then his dad it was harder to come too many memories. So last night he finally said let's go. We ordered the hummus and pita bread really good and a medium meat lovers pizza very good flavors. As I was enjoying my second slice of pizza. I looked across to the table in front of me and I saw the tall skinny waitress with the pony tail who doesn't look European. She was wiping down the chairs of the empty table then continued to wipe down the top of the table where you place your food. I quietly said to my husband I am so full do you want my share of leftover pizza for your lunch tomorrow? He was shocked cause I love pizza and never give up my share. The thought of eating off of a table that had been wiped clean with the cloth that the chairs were wiped with just turned my stomach. I also want to mention that the only server or waitress that was polite and friendly and smiled once and a while was the dark haired lady with the pony tail a bit short looks European. I really wanted to like this place but the food and service amounted to a "just ok" rating from me. My wife wanted pizza but she doesn't like thin crust so I turned to yelp to find a good place to try. Pizza: I was disappointed with the selection/variety of the pizzas because they had essentially 4 different meats and then listed (frustratingly so) in every kind of combination with every possible topping. We found ourselves looking at the menu for a solid 5 minutes just trying to figure out how the list was organized. Surprisingly, no chicken. I admit that I don't know if there's a code when it comes to Greek pizza toppings but I'm sure they have chickens in Greece, so we were perplexed that while shrimp made the cut on one of their specialty pizzas, chicken didn't. The Greek style crust it was pretty good. Our pie came out piping hot, I even burnt my lip a bit from the steaming hot tomato sauce. There was a lot of cheese given the crust and tended to overpower the toppings. A good thing if you're a cheese lover, I suppose! Sangria: We also decided to try their Sangria by the glass and we were really disappointed. No fruit other than a wedge of lime *and* lemon which made it really sour, no pineapples for us. The wine was so diluted with spritzer and juice that it looked like pink lemonade juice. I'm not sure what the $6 they charged went towards; the juice? the lime & lemons? Maybe we're spoiled by La Bodega's awesome Sangria. Heck, even Anton's had better Sangria than this place. Service: The service staff seemed really disorganized. When we arrived, we had one person ask us how many for our table, only to see that person usurped by another who then asked the exact same question. Our server came and asked us if we wanted to order drinks but then 5 minutes later another staff person ( the same who usurped and seated us) came by and asked us if we wanted order drinks. After we ordered and waited a solid 25 minutes for our pizza in a restaurant that was only half full, a third staff member brought us an order meant for another table that had been seated after us. We were never given any explanation that there had been a mixup, only that our order would be coming soon and we ended up waiting an additional 10 minutes for our order. As far as the pizza goes, I've had better. I'll definitely go back one day to try their Greek food fare since that seems to be the most talked about. But for now, I'm standing by my rating of only 3 Stars. Website confusion: It's worth noting that a google search of "olympia pizza" brings up results for 3 different restaurants (olympiapizza.COM for the Denman restaurant / olympiapizza.NET for the Broadway restaurant / and olympiapizza.CA for the Surrey restaurant). This is my favourite Greek restaurant in the city. The restaurant is very small and can get quite loud when it's crowded. The food is excellent, and the service is above-average. Coupled with the fun of being able to watch drunks across the street at The Shack, it's a lot of fun to both eat in or take out. My standard order here is kalamari, which is always tender and seasoned well. The side portions are generous, and the potatoes are particular are tasty. My boyfriend normally orders the roast lamb, which is juicy, tender, and flavourful, but has also tried the lasagna and lamb souvlaki with raging success. They also have a nice selection of wines, spirits/cocktails, and domestic and imported beers. Our absolute favourite menu item is the taramosalata, which is impossibly light yet flavourful, and comes in a generous portion. Sometimes we feel a bit old because the normal clientèle are people over the age of 40, but it's worth it. Oh, and they deliver. read more

Came in for lunch today. I've been wanting to try this place out for a while. I give it 1 star because the service was so terrible I decided to leave after my appetizer. It took a few minutes to get sat even though the place was empty, 10 mins to get a water and wasn't even asked if I wanted something else to drink. I ordered a calamari as the server rushed away for no apparent reason. After I paid she didn't even say "thank you have a nice day." Just ripped the receipt off the machine and marched away. Pretty disappointing because I love Greek food and have heard nothing but amazing things about this place. read more

This place for greek food is only okay. I got the chicken souvlaki platter which came with rice, potatoes, greek salad and chicken breast for $22. The chicken breast was nice and juicy but they definitely skimped out on the portion as there was only 6 pieces. Most of the platter was rice which was good and flavourful but the potatoes were overly salty and tasted like drinking salt water. Lots of free pita bread came with the meal, but overall this place is not worth it and I will not be coming back. The server also didn't have the best attitude and seemed like she didn't want to work there. read more

I have tried this location 3 times during the pandemic. Each time I have done pick up. All 3 times I have entered the location and sadly disappointed none of the kitchen staff were wearing masks. The hostess was very nice and she was masked. Why would you not be masked while cooking food for the public during these weird times. I understand it gets hot in a kitchen but wearing the mask on your chins and not over your mouth defeats the purpose. read more

I ordered the Fettuccini Alfredo with Garlic Toast. Honestly, the garlic toast was extraordinary. So delicious!!! The fettuccini alfredo on the other hand needs to be desperately changed. Absolutely disgusting, watery, and almost flavourless. Tasted like it has hints of something almost seafoody/ lemony?? Really weird. Would not order again. My girlfriend and I both love this place. We go at least twice a month, it's affordable, tasty, and they are open quite late which is handy. It's in our neighborhood, and it's our go to for an evening dinner when we don't feel like cooking. The service is fast and friendly, and the location is convenient, with easy to find street parking. The chicken souvlaki plate is our favorite, juicy chicken, great rice, lemon potatoes, greek salad, and garlic bread. Very filling yet light, all food groups covered, and great portions for the money. I also really like their greek salad on it's own, the lasagna and alfredo as well. This has always been a family favorite when we travel to or through Vancouver. The food was really good: we got roast lamb, lamb souvlaki, and "Hawaiian"(ham and pineapple) pizza. The lamb was melt in your mouth and the cheese on the pizza made your mouth water with its amazing ability to stretch as you plated it. I had high hopes for this restaurant, visiting Vancouver for the weekend. With a family of 8, we went in, very hungry after spending hours at Stanley Park. There was one man there to greet us, and he was pleasant. We got the menus, ordered 2 pizzas and a pitcher of coke, and then waited. And waited. And waited. The wait was probably an hour for the pizza. One supreme cheese and one half veggie, half Greek. It was a hard wait, and he didn't bring the drinks out till we reminded him again after the pizza had been served. One of our glasses had a bug in it. Some plates were pretty scratched up. Yet, nothing was as bad as the taste of the pizza. You would expect better from a 4 star restaurant and an hour wait. I could honestly get better tasting pizza from the frozen aisle at Walmart. I would say save your money and time if you want pizza. This is not the place. read more

I was craving some greek takeout so I gave this place a try and they wouldn't even let me order! I tried to order the Souvlaki Wrap off the lunch specials section of the delivery menu over the phone and I was told that wraps were dine-in only and that they stopped serving them at 3pm (this was just past 3 and the website said that they were served until 4). It may have been the terrible service thought that skewed my opinion. She was woman, maybe in her 30's who really treated us like we were not welcome. To echo what a lot of other people here have said, Olympia is my favourite Greek restaurant in Vancouver. Their souvlaki is the best I have had, and most importantly, it's consistent! I have been going here for at least 9 years and their souvlaki is always tender, flavourful, and satisfying. Their chicken is hands down the best I've ever had. To be quite frank, I hate chicken. Out of all the meats, I find it hands down the worst. Specifically, in most "Western cuisine," unless it's deep-fried, I find chicken rather bland, dry, and poorly textured. Olympia's chicken souvlaki is none of these things. Through some work of magic they have created a poultry dish that I actually CRAVE. Their other dishes are also very good. I love their pizza, their baked pasta dishes are tasty, filling, and reasonably priced, and their spanakopita is perfectly crispy around the edges. To top it off their service is always great and it's always pretty fast to get takeout if you don't want to sit in the restuarant. I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes, and it's usually 10. For an affordable, cozy, and dependable greek meal, Olympia is the absolute best. read more

Another one of those 'I wish I could give 3.5 star' reviews. Went with a friend for a quick lunch just now, the service was good and the food arrived relatively quickly. He had the Mousaka which he said was quite good and I went for the Roasted lemon and herb chicken. The chicken itself was very flavourful, lots of lemon deep inside the meat but it was a bit over roasted and had definitely become too dry. The potatoes, Greek salad, rice, and bread on the side were all good though so I'll definitely try Olympia out again. read more

This place has been around for years and used to be a favourite spot for my family to visit for pizza. I hadn't been there in over a decade but decided it was time the other night. We ordered the Hawaiian Pizza, Calamari and small chicken souvlaki. The service was great and the Calamari was tasty. The small chicken souvlaki is good but very small...4 bites of chicken. The pizza was a let down. Everyone at the table agreed it was very greasy and didn't have much flavour. I would say the greek food here is great and so is the service...but we won't be ordering pizza here again. read more

After ordering the souvlaki for take out, I would have to say that Olympia is overpriced, undersized, and average tasting when compared to other greek restaurants in the neighbourhood. $17.28 (pretax) gets you 7 (overcooked) pieces of lamb (one stick). There wasn't even very much of the cheap "filler" (rice/potato). My wife's chicken was the same price but had 6 1/2 pieces. Don't get me wrong, the quantity of food is not at all my primary concern when eating out, but for comparison other close-by restaurants serve souvlaki that tastes better, is larger, and it's $4 cheaper ? Also...you're only allowed to order "large" when you get take-out. Huh ? Why ? If it counts for you, my wife is Greek, and her family used to own a Greek restaurant, so we know more than a thing or two about Greek food. read more

Came across this place quite by accident. The plan was to go to the Swiss Chalet across the street only to discover it was closed. Let me start by saying that my partner spent 7 years living on Crete, so he knows Greek cuisine and is picky. I had the Keftedes (meatballs) and my partner had the Arni Psito (roast leg of lamb). As a former Montrealer, Greek style pizza is suuuuper important to me. I've found my go to pizza joint in my new hood! The crust was decent, could've been a touch more flavorful. The sauce was great and the toppings generous and fresh. The cheese was awesome and plentiful! I've been going here with friends for the last 8 years. Always a solid choice. Good food, decent atmosphere, good prices. I always order the keftedes, which is great. Good tatziki, great hummous and good service, so really what else do you need. People always rave about Stepho's. I lived in the westend for 5 years and only went their twice, who the hell wants to wait in the rain for Greek food? The only good thing about Stepho's is the portion sizes (if you want carb up on rice), however I will admit their tatziki rocks. But in my mind, Olympia is a much better choice. read more
