Service was exceptionally warm and knowledgeable, prices very reasonable but the food was second to none !!!!

Our law firm orders from Olympic Café a couple of times a month. The food is really good, for the most part, and the servings are generous. But I am deathly allergic to pickles. So every time we place an order, I specify no pickle. And without fail, when the food comes, there is a pickle in my meal. This means that I have to throw out any part of the food that has come into contact with the pickle. Since I have been asking them nicely to leave off the pickle for a couple of years with no result, I thought I would put up a review here, in the hope that it might catch their eye. For someone who merely doesn't like pickles, having one show up routinely is just a nuisance. But someone with a severe food allergy, it can be deadly. read more

We have always found Olympic Cafe to be clean and the staff to be friendly and attentive. Their hummus is delicious and the portion is huge! I always order an extra pita (extra charge) to go with it. Their large Greek Salad is also a healthy portion and makes great leftovers. My husband goes for the burgers and I enjoy the gyros, although I do order extra sauce because I don't find they put enough. They are seasoned perfectly. It's always a good option. read more

Always a treat. They have amazingly large menu, but I usually go there when hungry for gyros. Portions are large enough for us to share a gyro plate with extra side salad for her. I live on far east side of Bradenton or would eat there a lot more often. Then, I could try other menu items. I know the reviews for this restaurant are either a hit or miss.....but it is due to the fact that the reviewers with the poor ratings just did not know what was good to order. The 2 items that this place has every day, that is superb is the chicken lemon soup, and the saganaki. I have not found another place that makes a chicken lemon soup that is as tasty as the Olympic Cafe makes it. (Every time I see it on the menu at another restaurant I order it with optimistic hope that it is as good as Olympics, but alas it is never comparable.) The second menu item to get is the saganaki. If you know what saganaki is then this is the place for you. If you don't know what it is....live a little and order it one night. (if you have ever been to a Greek restaurant and have seen the waiter bring out a tray and then light it on fire and yell "Opa!"; then chances are that is the saganaki.) Most people who I have introduced this wonderful dish to really love this. It is a Greek cheese (not feta, I believe it is kasseri cheese) that is typically hard in its natural form. Then they slice off a generous piece add some flammable food liquids and then light it on fire and then cheese ends up hot and melty with a nice crispy crust on it which is great to spread pita bread. If you like a nice salty cheese, saganaki is your dream. In comparison to other Greek restaurants from all over the nation.....the Olympic Cafe's saganaki is just as good if not better than most; with the best price as well (I have seen this appetizer go as high as $15 at some restaurants....ridiculous price) At Olympic I believe it is like $8.50 or somewhere in that area. As for the rest of the items, the cream of spinach soup is also very good. Stick with the items that are on the specials board....it tends to be better than most of the menu items. Most of the chicken dishes are either a hit or miss.....i think it depends on who is cooking it. I haven't found a sandwich there to rave about. The gyro is decent, I have had better and I have had worse. The pastitsio and moussaka are good as well as the Greek salad. The portions here are large, so it is enough to split. The kids menu is blah....chicken fingers, hamburger, or spaghetti. I typically like to feed my kids something else than these standard kids menu items and end up splitting my entree with them. The servers always keep my drink full...and they are normally efficient and experienced. I would give this place a three star rating, if they didn't offer the foods I had mentioned. But when I want my chicken lemon soup and or my saganaki fix....this is my go to restaurant, and there is no where around this area that can compete in this department. read more

Mediocre at best....gyro was sooo disappointing....the pita was thick and chewy.....it was overwhelmed with chicken which was thick....boring shredded iceberg lettuce and minimal tomatoes....however the tziki sauce was decent.....will not go back again... read more

Based on reviews of having delicious gyros we stopped at Olympic Cafe. Menu is filled with lots of selections and a single gyro is about 1/100th of their menu. Service was mediocre at best. The servers acted like they were miserable. The gyros we ordered were ok, but we've had better at even at non Greek places. When trying to pay out we had to wait and then the lady at the register tried to pull the folded money from my hand and after taking it said "thank you have a nice day". I really should have spoken up because I had no intention of leaving the remaining $ as a tip after the service our waitress provided. I don't think I would eat here again and I would seek out gyros at another establishment. 3 stars because the food was not awful. read more

Very upset with the customer service I received from the rude lady on the phone today when I called at 7PM to order pick up. I wanted 3 kids meals for my kids: 2 chicken and fries, and a cheeseburger and fries + a large greek salad...she said "you need to order an adult meal or we can't do this" I said ok, I'll call back later. So is that a rule at Olympic now? I like their large greek salad and my kids enjoy the kid's meals....what a joke. This is a wonderful restaurant and the food is excellent. My husband and I used to come here 4 times a week and sometimes more. We'd have breakfast, lunch or dinner and it was superb. My husband refuses to go back because they refused to exchange salad for soup - my husband does not like salad. The owner said that the meal was with salad and could not be exchanged. I asked for extra lemon in my tea and was told it would be 45 cents for the extra slices. I asked for extra olives and was told there was a charge. I still go once in awhile for breakfast but felt because we were excellent customers, te extra three pieces of lemon or five olives would not be chargeable. I miss the dinners but my husband will not go. The food as I said is excellent....Great place to eat. read more

Just had a wonderful breakfast;2 eggs, home fries, toast, 2 delicious plump link sausages and coffee for 5.95. A yummy bargain. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his eggs Benedict. Service was fast and friendly. My cup of coffee never got below 1/2. Don't miss this local gem! read more

First off I love the decor and atmosphere, some might call it dated but I say that it definitely has the greek diner aesthetic down pat. Second, the service was excellent, my waitress was quick to refresh drinks and very attentive. Third, The food was delicious. I had the chicken kabob platter along with some baklava and I couldn't be happier. Lastly, the price couldn't be beat. Have driven by this place on my way home from work every day for 6 years now. I was craving french onion soup today for some reason so I googled "french onion soup manatee ave bradenton" and Olympic Cafe came up so I decided to order some to take out on my way home from work. I also ordered a chicken caesar salad. Both were delicious! The service was great too - it was ready by the time I got there (only 5 minutes after I called) and the people at the drive up window were very pleasant. read more

Went for breakfast so can only speak to that. I had the Hercules Omelet and it was delicious. Server was pleasant and the atmosphere was your typical diner atmosphere. The girlfriend had a bacon egg and cheese on a English muffin and she was happy with her meal. Only downside is if you dislike onions they are pre-made in the home fries in the morning. You either have to get those, grits, or fruit. Also no chocolate milk if you have kids or just like it yourself. All in all good food. Would go back again. read more

My family has been going here for years. The food is delicious -- the BEST chicken gyro you'll ever have. Other family favorites are the salad with gryo meat, lemon soup and spagetti w/ meatballs. The decor is always clean with a cute "Greek" look and the service is friendly and quick. read more

We really like this place. The food is really good and always homes out piping hot and tastes fresh. The fries and gyro are really good and come in huge portions. It does take longer than a normal drive through so don't expect just to fly in and fly out. Call ahead about 5-10 minutes and then just run in and pick it up. read more

First thing i'm going to say is their Baklavah is the best- if you like Baklavah you MUST have it here. Best diner in Bradenton. We love this place. It feels like home every time I walk in the door and I personally love their onion rings as well as their chicken florentine soup when they have it! Other great dishes include their ribs and beef dishes- delicious. Service is always great their employees make you feel at home and comfortable. All around amazing food. They have a great selection from traditional Greek food to general "Diner" food- burgers are superb too. Not a chain so this is the real deal! Prices are excellent for the food you're getting. They also run periodical promotional days- for example recently did a customer appreciation day where they were providing free meals while suggesting donations to an Alzheimer's research/care charity. Of course we still tipped and donated. Anyhow they're great! Definitely worth supporting (spending money at) on taste alone! read more

Have been a customer for many years but find of late the quality has greatly declined. Tonight was the last straw. Called in a take out order, specific with items requested. Person taking order repeated order back at my request. Still got it wrong. I understand mistakes happen. Called and told I could pick up a replacement meal. Drove back to restaurant only to have the man come to the window and argue with me about what I ordered. My daughter was with me when the order was placed and confirmed what I said. I was completely taken aback by being treated in such a rude manner. My bill was high for the food I received,but could not check charges as the receipt given was not itemized, wonder why. First off the person who wrote this terrible review about the olympic cafe is absurd. The cheese sticks are the best thing they have ? who is to say your a food critic. Me and my family have been going to this restaurant for years and have never heard a bad word about them. The food is amazing and i don't know what kind of gyro this guys eating but the OC gyro is by far the best gyro sandwich i have ever put in my mouth. There food really is homemade and one of the few remaining establishments that do that. Everything is home made right down to the gravy and tsaziki sauce. This place has won best greek for 13 years straight and they deserve every single award they have been giving. Obvisoully someone thinks the food is good or this would be untrue so people don't miss out on a great family style homemade cooking experience because mr. Cheese Sticks would rather go to the over priced most garbage food five guys i have ever ate. And to praise the late fountain court and even put it in the same category as the olympic cafe is a real low blow in the food world.
