OMG the service was amazing and the bar is not only fun but the drinks were professionally crafted well. Why 4 stars? Because even though I really want to like the mcmenamins everything a lot. . . the food is always the same across the board. Why would they not serve local favorites? The whole goal is to keep it local and invigorate the area right? Then why the same old burgers and pizzas? They need to do something more local for their menus and they also know that people will be jumping from one location to another. . . one can only stand the same foods at each location for so long. This is a McMenamins which usually always has a high standard. First off the build is beautiful. 1908 building. Lots of history and cute features. We didn't have to wait long to be seated (10 minutes) and our servers have been very friendly but a little slow on drinks and refills. I got the most expensive burger on the menu at $17.50 hoping it would be the most impressive. But it was not. Nothing about the ingredients, even down to the bun we're worth the money. Fail. But my friends got a special corn beef sandwich off of their Irish menu and while messy said they were good. Overall would probably only come back for drinks. read more

I have to give kudos to this particular McMenamins. A small town, yet vegan friendly! I know other McMenamins have the curry rice bowls on their menu, but never when I am looking for it. My modus operandi has been to travel to McMenamins and have a drink, maybe a salad or hummus and yelp for a nearby vegan friendly place. There really wasn't very much in Centralia. We looked at the menu and were pleasantly surprised to see the Jamaican Bowl and the West African peanut bowl. We got one of each, and both were delicious and fresh! Service was great too! read more

Love this place! But please bring back hand cut fries! For some reason they stopped when some nights we would go just for fries.

The entrance was a little confusing. It looked like I was walking into a kitchen. At first I was a little frustrated that our family of 6 was invited to find our own seating in the crowded restaurant, but then another staff member approached us and told us about an additional room in the back that would accommodate us. The servers were extremely friendly, helpful, and quick! The kids were even given coloring sheets to keep them occupied. I ordered oysters, but they delivered fish and chips by mistake. Rather than taking the food away, they let us keep the mistake while my food being cooked. The oysters were delicious! Perhaps more battered and fried longer than most restaurants do, but EXACTLY how I like them! read more

I'm from out of town, but have friends and family that live in the Centralia area that I visit a few times a year at least. I always make it a priority to visit the Olympic club when I'm in town. They clearly have a great kitchen staff as the food is always impeccable, and the options are varied and delightful. Service has always been top notch with very friendly waiting staff, and I've even had the opportunity to speak with the manager Brittany who is very kind, helpful, and friendly. They also have seasonal shows, events, and concerts that are lively and contribute to the culture and tradition of Centralia. This establishment is also rife with culture and holds a significant place in Washington state's history. Any history buffs with a particular leaning to prohibition era oddities? It's a little spendy here, but I love the food and the service. Everyone is always so friendly and attentive. The steak is amazing and I absolutely can't go without getting their pretzel sticks and beer cheese as an appetizer. They have a great beer & cider collection as well as good mixed drinks. Having dinner and drinks served while watching a movie is awesome too. I haven't stayed in the hotel yet, but it's a definite plan in the near future for a stay-cation close to home. read more

This establishment has great food and atmosphere however when I went with my family and say down in the bar I was asked for ID. Not a problem since I've been of age for many years. Except the server wouldn't accept my driver's licence as I am Canadian citing that Washington law prohibits accepting ID that isn't a passport. I had to go back to my in laws house and get my passport even though I have a valid Canadian drivers license which according to: https://lcb.wa.gov/enforcement/acceptable-identification Is among accepted forms of ID. Over all this wouldn't completely color my view and I would go back but I do feel that the servers need to be properly trained if they're going to be serving and asking for ID for alcohol. read more

Since I wrote my last review a couple of things have happened at this place. First the owners evidently figured out that, since they own a brewery, they could use the spent grain from beer production to bake their own burger buns. This may have been an eco-friendly decision, but it was a bad mistake in terms of the cuisine. The spent grain buns are dry, with a crumbly texture and simply not worth eating. There's a workaround: if you order a burger ask them to put it on toasted sourdough bread, which they will happily do. Second, they've changed the way they produce the french fries somehow. They no longer have a wonderful brown color, they're much chunkier and less like shoestring fries, and they just don't meet our high standards. We are french fry aficionados. The fries here previously were as good as we've found. No more. The service remains excellent, the surroundings unchanged, and it's an overall satisfactory place to find a meal. But they lose a star in my estimation. read more

We got stuck in centralia during a snow storm and ended up holed up at the Olympic club while we waited for the storm to pass. This was such a cozy and friendly place to spend an evening (and the next morning) I would highly recommend it... but hope you are able to visit under sunnier circumstances! The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and went to great lengths to keep us comfortable and mix up delicious cocktails, even in the dark after the electricity went out. I've been to 5 or 6 Mcmenamin's and the Olympic Club has been the only one I really don't care for - tried 3 different times. Worst fish and chips I've had in a long time. Their version of fish is what looked like 2 small pieces of van de kamps frozen fish for $21.50. Frozen fish was cooked in not hot enough grease so dripping with old grease. Cajun tots had no flavor and waitress took about 25 minutes to take our order and over an hour to get the bad food. Wife had some weird version of a club sandwich with 2 slices of bread and meat and cheese. Fries weren't good either - for $18.50 maybe serve a club sandwich with 3 slices of bread and a reasonable amount of meat? read more

It is especially nice to see staff working at a time when most people are not, and I appreciate that during these difficult times that it can be my little oasis. It's McMenamins so you really can't go wrong. One of those places that has something for everyone. We are in town for a softball tourney and there aren't too many options in this town. This place has all the charm of all the historic themed McMenamins. The food was really really good, the teen got her hamburger with a fried egg on top and tater tots, mom had the pork loin and I had the salmon. All were cooked perfectly, appeared to be fresh ingredients. One thing that is common with McMenamins is the wait for the food, just a little longer than most places. As long as you like who you are eating with that shouldn't be a problem! Avoid the bigger chain restaurants in town and try this place. The downtown, which I had driven by dozens of times, has a historic and vibrant feel. More to Centralia than the outlets. read more

Amazing setting. Original 100+ year old cafe and snooker parlor, tons of character. It's great to sit and consider how many people over the years ate and drank and played here. After that, you're in a McMenamin's, and what's true of one seems to be true of all. The food is OK, not great. It could be great with a little attention to details but that's not the case. McM's does not do a good job with their bread products, they are either stale or frozen. Salads tend to be a bit dried out and a bit old. The espresso was weak. But the food is tasty and harmless, and the service was outstanding. And the men's room is worth a look: the urinals are as big as phone booths, I'm guessing to facilitate aim if you're a bit less than sober. read more

This is a nice little stop on our way north or south on I-5 toward our destination. First Centralia is a cute little burg with many little shops in the center of town which I would love to check out at some point. I would liken it to the town of McMinnville. This place has the standard McMenamin's fare and I'm not sure what this building was prior to the McMenamins folks buying it but it's a cool restaurant, bar, and pool table area. We elected to sit in the bar this time at the bar just to enjoy a beverage. The windows are quite spectacular beautifully ornate. The women's bathroom it interesting as the sink has so many faucets on it it's hard to tell which are ornamental and which are actually functional but very fun and definitely a conversation piece. It came with 3 big pieces of fish and the dill in the tartar sauce was a nice touch. Fries were blah and being an avid visitor I knew better and should have gone with the tots. Service was great but would recommend avoiding upstairs. It seemed as though the waitress didn't come by as often as she should have (IMO). Restaurant / bar was very busy. I've been here before to drink with friends and always had a good time. This was the first time coming just to eat, and our server, Cody, was incredible! The food was quick and hot and delicious, he was kind and courteous of my child and was all around a joy to interact with. The menu is small, deciding to focus instead on a few things they can do excellently instead of many that may not be as good. From previous visits I can tell you the drinks are to die for. Man, was this Restaurant, Bar & Hotel cool! Turn of the last century vibe (1900), it went way beyond my expectations. The Hotel was a right out of the movie "The Sting", with bunk, queen & kings available with shared showers & bathrooms (plenty of them). The artistry & historical ambiance was magical (including passing train whistles). Round out your journey with a visit to the 1900s bar, restaurant, beer garden, billiards, live-music (in old the card room) & couch theater.
