Zero Stars. I have been there twice now. The servers and staff may be among the rudest people I have ever encountered in the service industry. My wife and I went there for breakfast one day late morning. We came in long after the rush. The restaurant was not even half filled. She asked for her ham and cheese omlette to be made with cheddar, and for her home-fries well done. Both simple requests. The omlette came out with the wrong cheese (American) and the homefries were under-cooked. Not a big deal. We were understanding at this point, but we sent the order back to be corrected. These things happen. The server returned with the same food - same exact plate of food untouched - and told us the cooks would not remake the omlette since that is what my wife asked for. We were also told they could not cook the home fries any more. You read that correctly - they "could not", and would not, cook her food more as she requested. I was stunned. I asked for a manager, none ever came and we never really saw one. I was told that servers here have to pay for mistakes, so they won't send food back to be remade. While neither mistake was ours, being told they will not cook food longer was mind-boggling. ------------ I am always willing to give a place a 2nd try. A few weeks later we came in on a Tuesday afternoon around 3pm. The place was empty. Maybe 2 tables. I asked to place an order to go. I wanted a grilled chicken ceasar wrap with pickles in the wrap. The lady taking my order looked right at me and told me "No. That is a special request. Our kitchen won't do special requests." She offered to put a pickle on the side. This didn't make sense to me. I asked - Are the wraps pre-made? My thinking was they wouldn't take it apart if it was pre-made to add pickles. She told me no, they make their wraps to order. So they have pickles. They make the wraps fresh. They were NOT busy. And I was willing to pay an up-charge. They literally refused to make my order. Please keep in mind - I wasn't asking for a filet mignon on my wrap. I asked for fucking pickles! The lady at the counter literally told to go elsewhere. I didn't even bother to speak to a manager. I wouldn't eat their food if it was the last place on earth. I will NEVER go back to this place. I hope it burns to the ground. The servers and cooks who allegedly refuse to make something well done, or fix a mistake they made, or add something simple to an order like pickles, even for an upcharge - I don't know how they stay in business. Food is pretty good. From breakfast to lunch to dinner, ive never had a bad meal. It can get pretty packed and the parking lot can get full on the weekends but this is expected for the location and quality of food. I love how diverse their menu is. Prices are average. I've been eating here for years... I sit down with my son and after waiting 10 minutes to get service I asked a waitress if we could order. She gave me an attitude when I told her we've been here for 10 minutes. Takes our food order and leaves......food took forever...we asked for a drink order which was quick...still no food. after 30 minutes I told my son we were gone. During Super Storm Sandy, many in the Deer Park area lost power. The first day of no power, Pete the owner picked up the bill for anyone that came in. Families, what ever. I've gone to so many diners in the 6 years I've been living here and Olympic never disappoints. I went there the other night to pick up something fast for dinner. Simple grilled cheese and fries. I love that the sandwich and fries were wrapped separately. Nothing was soggy !! Everything was crunchy good. And their chicken noodle soup does the trick when you aren't feeling well. Was there for a late breakfast last Sunday. Wife had breakfast melt, I just had eggs and ham with toast and home fries. Both plates came out very quickly and were cooked perfectly as I wanted the fries very well done. Server was great and was right there to refill the coffee. Nice place to eat. I've been coming to this diner for well over 8 years and never had such bad food in my life. The only reason it got stars at all was because the waitress was polite and friendly and the coffee was fresh. I ordered the Greek omelet wrap and it came soaking wet, one half of it the wrap was stuck to the paper and I could not even eat it without taking the eggs out separately to eat. Went for dinner with my two boys on Friday at peak dinner hour. We were told there was a wait, but we were seated within 15 minutes, which didn't bother me a bit. My sons had burgers and I ordered the turkey special, which came with soup or salad and dessert. I had the matzo ball soup, it was allright, nothing special. My boys loved their burgers and my turkey was nice. It was juicy and you can tell that the gravy was made on premises and not from a can like another diner in the area does. I love this diner. I come here to meet a friend once every two months or so and it is worth the half hour trip from my house. Fantastic service every time, great coffee and delicious food make for a wonderful experience. I had the best French toast I have ever eaten at this diner - thick raisin bread with white icing and brown sugar. So good it didn't even need syrup. I asked for deep-fried bacon and I got four perfectly crisp nongreasy strips that were pure heaven. My friend got a bacon, egg, and cheese wrap with home fries and she loved it. OK... I'm regular at this place, that being said I don't know what is going on with their management lately. Their service and food quality seems to be declining greatly. No consistency at all !!! My orders were screwed up against tonight, did take out. All I know is it was a male that took order, didn't bother to give his name and he was rude. Mmmm just didn't seem to be interested in taking my order.. that being said proof was when I got home and found it to be screwed up...again. The female Hostess and some of the waitresses are nice and that's about it. The food is mediocre. I have had a few salads in which the leaves were brown and some of the sandwiches have given me heartburn and a stomach ache. One time I came in and some skinny wanna be tough guy who was a male waiter tried to back talk me. Another reason why this diner is terrible. The owner should hire those who want to work and not be lazy like this waiter clearly DID NOT exemplify. The place is great. I was really impressed with the service and my order. I ended up getting the greek salad with marinated chicken chunks and was blown away. Usually when I order grilled chicken from some places I end up getting dry chicken and always need some sort of sauce to help give it a better taste. The chicken was absolutely delicious. The Olympic Diner on Deer Park Ave is one of the better diners on the Island when it comes to food quality. Of course it faces dwindling competition when you consider how many have closed down or have dreadful food. You might face a wait on weekend mornings. I was disappointed by the indifferent responses I received from staff members regarding the non-functional internet on their WiFi signal. (My 4G signal was very weak here) I was first told that they didn't have WiFi. I showed them the screen of my smartphone that clearly showed "Olympic" WiFi and "Netgear Guest" services and was then told that they didn't know the password. One young woman actually said "It has nothing to do with me". I mentioned how her customers might get annoyed and she said to tell someone at the front desk. I did and she barely cared too. So, come for the decent food and leave your phone in the car where it probably should be anyway! read more

I go here when I crave the Gus wrap (thin crisp seasoned eggplant and Mediterranean chxn w tatziki sauce wrap). YUM. Their chxn salad sandwich is also a staple. Highly recommend. Nice dinner...totally decorated w/ car pictures decals especially of older type car models. When you go into the diner we sat in the room to the left which has a lot of tables that actually have leaves that fold out to make the tables bigger but they do have some booths. Totally different from the other Diner that we normally tend to go too but we were going to see a movie in Deer Park at the Regal movie theater. I was thrilled that they had matzo ball soup and I had a nice Mediterranean rack with chicken so basically it's like a Greek Salad w/Chicken... comes w/french fries. The wrap is humongous! My boyfriend ordered his usual cheeseburger I told him not to get it Deluxe...save the $3.00 BC he doesn't eat lettuce or tomato....so he would be paying for just the fries...which I only eat a handful... so he could basically eat mine & I had a feeling that my wrap would be huge & I'd only be able to eat 1/2. When we first sat down we look at the menu knew what we wanted we we're waiting to order we knew who our waitress was going to probably be we motioned to the man who delivered the water... she looked overwhelmed slash frustrated it was a little bit busy. So I heard her say that somebody else was going to take the table so that somebody else came over she looked flustered & said she'd be over in a minute... then she went up to a waiter named Billy who seem to be doing the majority of the waitering in that room and he came over and he was absolutely wonderful & very Pleasant & even took a few minutes to talk to you. When we got there, we were greeted with a smile, and our table was set up with drinks. It does not get better than that, not to mention the great, SUPER food!! I really like this diner. Food will occasionally come out not as you want it but it will quickly be fixed without issue. Some of the waitstaff are better than others but overall they are adequate. Hostesses are good, you will always get a smile while being led to your table. Bathrooms are always clean which is a big plus if you have encountered the opposite. read more
