Honestly one of the better diners on long island. The portions are generous and priced right. Their dinner specials range from $15-$18 and include a decent size salad and dessert. The place is great. I was really impressed with the service and my order. I ended up getting the greek salad with marinated chicken chunks and was blown away. Usually when I order grilled chicken from some places I end up getting dry chicken and always need some sort of sauce to help give it a better taste. The chicken was absolutely delicious. The Olympic Diner on Deer Park Ave is one of the better diners on the Island when it comes to food quality. Of course it faces dwindling competition when you consider how many have closed down or have dreadful food. You might face a wait on weekend mornings. I was disappointed by the indifferent responses I received from staff members regarding the non-functional internet on their WiFi signal. (My 4G signal was very weak here) I was first told that they didn't have WiFi. I showed them the screen of my smartphone that clearly showed "Olympic" WiFi and "Netgear Guest" services and was then told that they didn't know the password. One young woman actually said "It has nothing to do with me". I mentioned how her customers might get annoyed and she said to tell someone at the front desk. I did and she barely cared too. So, come for the decent food and leave your phone in the car where it probably should be anyway! read more

The food was good but over priced... But there customer service was bad. They dnt like black people, they gave us the check 5 min after giving us our food and we did not ask for it. There were two ladies seating near us and they were there before we arrived and when I left I looked on their table to see if they received there bill and they did not. Went here for a dinner a while back. The food is great and they have a wide variety of menu items to choose from. Our waitress was attentive and our food arrived on time. However, the reason they receive 5 stars is due to their outstanding customer service. Our waitress accidentally spilled some food on me while serving us. After the incident she, along with every member of the staff from bus boys to management, was completely professional and genuinely remorseful about the incident and went above and beyond to make it up to me. Nice dinner...totally decorated w/ car pictures decals especially of older type car models. When you go into the diner we sat in the room to the left which has a lot of tables that actually have leaves that fold out to make the tables bigger but they do have some booths. Totally different from the other Diner that we normally tend to go too but we were going to see a movie in Deer Park at the Regal movie theater. I was thrilled that they had matzo ball soup and I had a nice Mediterranean rack with chicken so basically it's like a Greek Salad w/Chicken... comes w/french fries. The wrap is humongous! My boyfriend ordered his usual cheeseburger I told him not to get it Deluxe...save the $3.00 BC he doesn't eat lettuce or tomato....so he would be paying for just the fries...which I only eat a handful... so he could basically eat mine & I had a feeling that my wrap would be huge & I'd only be able to eat 1/2. When we first sat down we look at the menu knew what we wanted we we're waiting to order we knew who our waitress was going to probably be we motioned to the man who delivered the water... she looked overwhelmed slash frustrated it was a little bit busy. So I heard her say that somebody else was going to take the table so that somebody else came over she looked flustered & said she'd be over in a minute... then she went up to a waiter named Billy who seem to be doing the majority of the waitering in that room and he came over and he was absolutely wonderful & very Pleasant & even took a few minutes to talk to you. My family has gone here for years, and we don't really want to use Olympic Diner any longer. Everything is overpriced and poor quality. They skimp on the chicken in all the sandwiches, paninis, and wraps. Two separate times, I ordered a salad and asked for spring mix lettuce in place of just iceberg. The spring mix they gave me had tons of pieces of rotten, black lettuce, with brown juice seeping out of it. Two separate times this happened!!! I understand that they can't control if lettuce gets rotten, but they can control whether they serve it to me or not!! A bunch of rotten pieces of lettuce in a salad are impossible to miss, the staff just doesn't care. My take-out salad cost $16 and I had to throw it out completely, because it wasn't salvageable. Sorry Olympic Diner, you're overpriced, your food is mediocre, and you don't show basic consideration to your customers! read more

The food is very good. They have a vast array of choices from classic American diner food to hearty homemade food to Greek specialties. Their portion size is very nice too. Their appetizers are very good, as are their soups and salads (especially the french onion soup... Mmmmm!). My favorite entrée is their spinach pie. It's very fresh tasting and always spot on! It's an ok diner. The people that own it are very nice people, once in a while you get a dopey or inattentive waiter/waitress but for the most part they're ok. I enjoy the Buffalo Chicken Panini and the salads are really good as well. Breakfast is not bad either, i mean if you screw up eggs and pancakes you're in the wrong business. Went to the Olympic diner today for lunch. Much to my surprise they had a lunch specials menu. $12.95 included soup or salad, coffee, tea or soda and entree. I opted for the grilled cheese BLT and soup of the day (cream of broccoli). The soup was tasty and filling. The sandwich came with a ton of fries, cole slaw and a pickle. I couldn't finish it and ended up taking most of it home. Not only was it a great value it was good food. Waitress was attentive and polite. I prefer traditional diners over fast food style chains (I.e. Denny's) and will be back to the Olympic diner. read more

Waitress was very nice and the atmosphere was nice. We went on a Saturday and were seated quickly. We chose from the dinner specials and had Shrimp stuffed with crab meat, and fried pork cutlets. The Manhattan clam chowder was good but very salty. The Greek salad was very generous. All dishes were just warm, not hot. Would probably try again as this was our first visit there. read more

Great diner. We stopped in for a local lunch meeting. Very convenient location. Very nice atmosphere. Slightly modernized with typical diner decor. We were seated immediately. The menu is large, but not as big as most diners. I found this to be a relief, because when the menu is too extensive it can be overwhelming. The waitress was very nice, and really catered to our needs. She was funny as well. Excellent service. The noise level was average, but it was also a rainy Monday afternoon. The French onion soup was absolutely delicious. It definitely hit the spot during the inclement weather. The waitress was very generous with crackers and condiments. I had a French dip and it was well made. The roast beef was fresh, and the au jus was plentiful. Portions are huge! I took most of my food with me, as did everyone else. One of my colleagues said his cheeseburger was made perfectly. The French fries are very fresh. They have a good selection of desserts, but we couldn't eat another bite. Terrible. We waited to be served for awhile with my 2 young kids while others who walked in after was served first. Owner (lousy toupee) said its busy because of hurricane Sandy what can I do things happen unapologetic. No apology what so ever. It would of been nice to say come back and I'll take care of you in the future. We told the waitress the food was cold after we waited so long probably sitting in the back waiting for her slowness to get it. My wife took a bite and said it was cold and came back the same food 30 seconds later. Probably heated in a microwave. And I was served my wife's food with the bite taken out of. Gross. I have been a regular customer here for over 15 years... As soon as you walk in you are always greeted by familar faces. The staff has stayed the same for many years which in my opinion says do much about the family that runs this establishment. Staff becomes family as well as the regulars who frequent the diner sometimes multiples times a day. Many relationships have been born here over the last 30 years and the reason is because of Peter and his family that have taken on managerial responsibilities as they have grown up here. The food is amazing and you cannot go wrong with breakfast , lunch or dinner regardless of the time . I recently just moved into the area to be closer to work. My husband and I went to lunch for the first time last week. I had a cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and he had a gyro. The food was so delicious and my burger was cooked perfectly. My husband is now obsessed with their yogurt sauce and won't go anywhere else. Today I picked up take out , I tried the apple walnut salad which was also really good and I could not believe how quick they had it ready for me ! The place we originally wanted to go to on this Saturday evening at 8pm had a 45 minute to an hour wait. Both of us having no lunch and being ravenous led us to the nearest diner, Olympic. I recall going there years ago and not being too enthused but hunger won out and we decided to give it another go! Lol. It's nicer than your average diner, modern decor, cool accent walls, etc. I ordered one of the chicken specials, Chicken Valentino. It was chicken cutlets with broccoli , over rice, topped with mozzarella . The hubs had a turkey burger. I found it very un-diner like that my special came with neither a cup of soup or salad, nor any dessert or coffee. Hmm. No rolls or anything came with the dinner either. I asked what a side Greek salad would be and our very pleasant young server informed me it was "like $8 bucks" I'm far from cheap but I passed on that one. We ordered fries as an appetizer because we were starving and there was no bread basket appearing with my order. They were, well, fries! Lol, standard issue, a little on the skimpy side. My chicken was decent, but nothing to write home about. It was your basic chicken cutlets, topped with three boiled from the bag broccoli spears, over a from-the mix rice, a la' Lipton rice and sauce. Ehhh, not too jazzed about that ! Yeah, I realize it's a diner, but I've had some awesome fresh food at diners where they wouldn't skip on the quality and serve that style of food as a shortcut. Just saying! Worst panini sandwich ever..came out soggy & tasteless. Picked out some of the vegetables in one half but didn't eat the bread and vegetables because it was so wet and gooey..was expecting a hot pressed panini sandwich-guess you can't compete with Delis. Waitress didn't comp sandwich because she said "I ate half of it", which clearly I didn't eat. I was offered a different meal but I had eaten some of my families omelets, which were good. This is probably one of my favorite diners on Long Island. Every Sunday I go with my family for breakfast and the food is tasty and flavorful, and the waiters are so nice and friendly. Today I ordered two egg whites, turkey bacon, mashed potatoes, and toast. Food was amazing and it was only 9.50! The only complaint I have about the food is that the bacon and eggs were too greasy so we had to pat it down with a napkin. Anyway, if you are looking for a place to eat on Long Island I suggest the Olympic diner good food for a good price, and excellent service. (Our server Gloria was a delight) read more

I have been going here for 30 years and sadly it isn't what it used to be. After multiple experiences with sub par food, the moldy Matzah Ball Soup was the last straw. On top of an inedible meal, the management handled the situation terribly.. one manager hung up on me then would not get back on the phone. They wanted to give me more soup to make up for it, like I really want to eat any more moldy soup. They swore the mold was parsley, which is crazy.. parsley isn't blue, nor does it smell like rotten eggs. The only thing they would do was return the $5 I spent on that soup. I thought they should have covered my whole bill, considering I could have gotten very sick.. but they refused. So they lost a customer today. Very sad. read more

Im not a big fan of diners, but once I went to this one, I found it to be quite good because of the way the bacon was made and the way it tasted. It was crispy and not oily nor was it salty. Have you ever had a taste for something you would drop everything to satisfy that craving? Well, today I did that. I dropped everything just to get some eggwhites and bacon from Olympic Diner. Dont know what happened over the months, but today the bacon was unusually salty, undercooked and oily. On top of that the waitress had a very unprofessional attitude and response when I said to her that I was really looking forward to the bacon today and it was not good at all, her reply was well, I cant help you, I dont eat meat. She sucked her teeth and brought it back to the kitchen and didnt even ask me if I wanted something else in its place. Wont go there again... read more

I know that most Greek diners can be lumped into the category of, a place to go when you want something quick, and no frills. But after frequenting many different diners, you eventually recognize that in certain respects, one may stand out from the others.  And so, at times, Olympic Diner can be said to offer something different from the norm.      One example can be found in the obligatory Greek salad. Of course, the salad offers fresh lettuce, vegetables and feta. But where it really does excel, is the dressing. And although I can't determine exactly what's in it, I can say, that it is the best damn dressing I have ever tasted. it's so good, in fact, that Olympic bottles it and sells it at the checkout counter. Being on the subject of salads, lets talk about the Doc Salad. It's a huge bowl of fresh lettuce,  perfectly grilled and marinated chicken pieces, and the aforementioned dressing. So if you're dieting,  just put on a dab of the dressing, and don't eat the whole thing. But if your really hungry,  have some of the bread basket with it, and it will surely fill you.      If you happen to be in the mood for some fresh fish, Olympic doesn't disappoint. Try the fresh Salmon Fillet,  the broiled or fried Seafood Combo, or the Stuffed Founder Athenian Style.  Besides being very fresh, the fish is always cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and the portion size is big enough - even for a hungry dude like me. What's more, the Athenian Style Flounder is stuffed with a delicious blend of spinach, feta cheese, and spices, with just a touch of melted butter. Try to top that.     Looking for just a good, quick sandwich? Try the triple decker turkey club. It's made with fresh roasted turkey, not cold cuts. And it's topped with lettuce, tomato, and crispy bacon. Their delicious steak fries and creamy cole slaw round out the plate.  Some people - like my wife - get a big bang out of ordering a delicious breakfast at a diner, regardless of the time of day. And so, when we are at the Olympic, she can never resist one of their outstanding omlets, along with some buttered toast, and their really good home fries. Even more important, she never really finishes it all, so I get to pick at it after I finish my meal. Sometimes I'm a garbage pail.     So if you are in the area, and want to try the best Greek salad you will ever have (really), give the Olympic a shot. It's a winner. read more
