There…read moreare a lot of good choices in the Miami Beach area but she gave me some specific things she wanted. Walkable to the hotel, good food options and $100 per person maximum. After looking at the reviews I presented Mareva 1939 as my top choice. I contacted them and made a reservation for 10 people, and after the first reservation time I had to adjust with Mareva for people arriving in late because of flights. No problem for Mareva and they didn't need a deposit for the restaurant. It is in the National Hotel, next to where we are staying box 1 check. The place was beautifully decorated and staff all attentive throughout the night. That was my criteria not my boss' since the lack of good service can destroy a great meal. The food choices all were excellent but centered on tapas and Spanish cuisine which checked the second box. Served family style we all chose a number of different tapas and shared. Then large patella dishes, they were plentiful and all delicious. Lastly the price, which may seem high for those outside the area but not for those who know Miami Beach. The bill for the 10 of us that included several drinks person and enough food and desserts to leave us full came to $1,002 including tip and taxes. All boxes checked and my boss and team happy, Mareva 1939 was a huge success.

From the amazing patio view of the pool, to the incredibly friendly and attentive staff, to the delicious huevos rancheros I ordered, it was all excellent. I don't know if I've ever had huevos rancheros that photogenic. It was so bright and vibrant and tasty to boot! Whenever I travel I try to mix up my dining so I can get a wide variety of meals in but I seriously considered breaking my rule and hitting here twice. I will definitely be visiting The National again and when I do, I'll be back for a meal for sure.

Arrived for an early date night dinner around 6:15pm. FYI…read more- It is valet only...no charge gratuities only...at the end of your visit they hand you your keys and your walk to your own car...at least that is how it went for us. We had open table reservations so we were seated right away...the hostess was was very friendly as were our servers...we started with one guy but then we had another lady soon after. We ordered drinks to start...Pinot grigio for me and Corona for the hubby. We looked over the menu a bit and started off with 3 shareables..the eggplant with honey, shisito peppers and octopus gallega...The eggplant with honey was an interesting dish (in a good way) and very tasty...they peppers were good as well but my husband wasn't a fan of the octopus gallega. For the 2nd round, we ordered another round of drinks and then the pan con tumaca, manchego croquettes and octopus in garlic sauce. I loved the toast with tomato "jam" as well as the manchego croquettes...I would re-order both of these. My husband wasn't a fan of the octopus in garlic sauce as he felt it was a bit too salty. He also ordered another dish, the seafood salpicon and this dish he really loved! For dessert we opted for the crema catalana...similar to a creme brulee...it was good...I also had a latte which was a nice accomplishment to the dessert. After dinner we headed to their Hidden Speakeasy (behind the pantro door). In there we each had another drink to end the evening. They do have a food menu in there which was different from the restaurant. It would be fun to just come with a group of friends and chill for a while. All in all, a tasty meal and a fun date night!

We were able to try lots of dishes (it's tapas of course) and each one was delicious! My favorite was the oxtail and octupus. We were also served sangria--both white and red--which were delish! Just caution that it's pretty much valet parking and when a photographer comes around, expect them to try to sell you the photo they took, printed and framed for you. You can kindly decline! I would definitely want to come back for a date night or even a couples night out. It has the perfect ambiance for it.

It's rare to find a spot that draws you back 24 hours later, but this place is a total standout in Miami. Despite having a larger group this time, we were greeted warmly and seated immediately. The service was excellent from start to finish--attentive, friendly, and perfectly paced for a family dinner. We kicked things off with the Cuban sampler, which was the perfect introduction to the menu and got everyone excited for the main event. Every dish that hit the table was a hit: the Red Snapper was incredibly fresh, and the Chicharron de Pollo had that perfect crunch. My wife really enjoyed the Chicken Milanesa, but for me, the Paella was the star of the show--rich, authentic, and packed with flavor. It's safe to say everything was delicious yet again. We've officially added this to our "must-visit" list for every trip to Miami. If you're looking for a meal that feels both high-quality and welcoming, you can't beat this spot. We'll definitely be back!

Needed to do errands in North Miami, so Little Havana came up as a place to go for Cubanos. It has…read morethree locations in Miami, with this one in North Miami being the original, opened in 1991. We dined in, and the visit blew away the food from the previous week. I really like Cuban sandwiches, so will be something my brother and I keep seeking out during short visits to Miami. We had a one-day rental car, so found Little Havana Restaurant, coming a bit after peak lunch time. It's on a major street, with surface angled parking in the back. There are a lot of wild birds in the area, with their guano being everywhere outside. It's a big dining area inside, and we were immediately directed to a prime location with views of their small lush adjacent green space, and the birds that live there. Elizabeth was our server, with water and complementary rolls being immediately offered by helpers. She and her team were great throughout, offering suggestions and bringing the food nice and hot. We ordered off the Happy Hour menu (11:30 - 18:00 M-F) and the Lunch Special Menu (11:30 - 16:00). We were greatly satisfied with every dish Shrimp in Garlic Sauce, appetizer size ($14.99) - 5 jumbo tail-on shrimp, sauteed in a scampi type sauce. It's what you expect when you douse good shrimp with a butter garlic sauce. The appetizer does not come with rice/beans, but we had plenty of it from the other dishes...loved spooning the sauce over the rice while eating. Roast Pork Lunch ($12.99) - what a deal. A dish of pulled pork with a big piece of fried pork skin on top...reminded me of the Filipino lechon, or even the Hawaiian kalua pork, with the tenderness of the mean. It came with a big scoop of rice and a bowl of red beans. Lamb Shank ($18.49) - This was recommended by Elizabeth when asked by my brother, what he shouldn't miss. It's a Cuban special, cooked in wine sauce. It was a big piece, still on the bone, coming with a big plate of rice and fried plantains. He enjoyed it, though he was struggling a bit at the end. Cuban Sandwich ($12.49) - A full size Cuban sandwich, cut in half. It had been grilled on a sandwich press with a little oil, resulting in the cuban bread being crispy at the top. It had the right mix of that same delicious pulled pork, along with ham, melted swiss, mustard and pickle slices. It was very good, great value for the price. Paying was done at the top, and we intentionally did not take any leftovers. There is a framed newspaper article from 1991 in the lobby, where you can read more about their origins.
