Can my house look like that? Really, I love the look of the store, but rarely get anything because paper lanterns often look silly when they have to stand in a room alone... I just wish I could afford to get all those lotus lanterns and decorate around them, because they are so astonishing. But alas, I only see the store (which is mesmerizing); and houses adorned with one lantern from the store (and it generally looks lame and out of place, to be honest). I was just admiring my lamps which bring me such joy and was thinking about this place and decided I should leave a review. My husband and I visited Santa Cruz a few years ago and purchased 3 hanging lamps and a table lamp. We bought them to have in our new house, but we didn't move in when we expected to so they sat in boxes for awhile. When we unpacked them, hanging them wasn't working out so I wanted to convert them all to table lamps. I called the store and explained and they sent me lamps to place the shades on. The lamps weren't the right kind for the shades I have so I called and they sent me ones that would work. They were so kind. I love the lamps and I love this store. I can't wait to visit Santa Cruz again and go to Om Gallery. On a side note, I think it's hysterical that they got a one star review from a guy who didn't get a cord for his Buddha....he is in real need of meditation. Maybe when he zens out with his Buddha he will change the rating on his review and they will have the highest rating, because they should have that. read more

This place is heaven on earth. From the minute you walk in it is so calming and wonderful. They have the most amazing eclectic collection of international natural based arts, crystals, literature and energy related products. It is so fun to browse around and so many beautiful gifts including candles and jewelry etc. On top of the great quality in ambience I am always impressed by their reasonable prices. They have large fountains and garden decor, you can give any room or small space a lot of flair with their products. I actually just go there to feel good and it never disappoints. read more

I love this store. I was visiting from San Francisco, so I'm very familiar with what to look for since #1. I'm Asian, and #2. I used to live in Chinatown. The prices may seem high but you have to remember a few things - You are getting something that is not mass produced, hand made, high quality, and uniquely designed for the store. A lot of their items are like artwork. Nothing you'll find at an IKEA (lighting) or Chinatown (tourist crap). When you look at it from this perspective, you'll understand why the price is a little bit more. (Actually not too much more considering the much higher quality of what you're getting.) Also, if you look at their mission statement you'll realize that none of their items are made in sweat shops overseas. They actually have personal contacts with families overseas who they do business with. They promote fair trade and good working conditions. Some of these families have been able to afford homes in recent years. So not only do you get some really good products here but you're doing the world some good shopping here. I purchased a silk blouse at 35% off (came out to something like a little over $20) and a men's shirt for 50%. We are extremely happy with our purchases. One of my favorite stores downtown. My kids call this the beautiful store and want to spend an hour inside every time we are downtown. Staff is friendly and prices are reasonable. We have several items on "our list" for redecorating. And I love to buy unique gifts here. read more

So, the items are beautiful! But--- beware of "sales" for Om. We came downtown (don't like downtown SC very much, so unusual for us.) We told salesperson we had the 50% off ad for the weekend. She said - "great deals this weekend." We looked around, and found a lamp we liked, and went to ask some questions of the salesperson about it. Decided we wanted it, and she said "Oh, I'm so sorry - this particular style of lamp is not on sale - it is popular, and these are the last we have in stock". We said - the signs don't say exclusions, nor does the ad. She apologized again, and we left. Won't return... Don't like bait and switch. read more

This is one of my favorite stores in the Cruz. It has such a Zen feeling to it. This store is filled with unique lamps that add a lot of ambiance to your home. This is an impeccably decorated store with very beautiful items. However, be aware that most of these items have been mass produced to create the illusion of spirituality, "new age" or Buddhist philosophies. There's no heart here in this store, but it sure looks nice. read more

These guys sell a lot of really great stuff, it's a perfect gift shop. The prices are okay too given the internet age of Amazon etc. The only thing that bothered me was that they sold me a lamp that worked in the store and then pulled out the bulb while packing it up and didn't tell me. I got home with a surprise gift for my lady that didn't work as I had to go buy a bulb the next day. I did follow up and OM Gallery and they told me that they "don't sell bulbs" No big deal with a warming, so I feel they need to do better in this kind of situation. I found these guys at a booth at SF Pride Fest weekend and fell in love with these lanterns! Admittedly the lantern thing always looks cool in the magazines, but at home it looks like someone left party favors up and forgot they were there. These however are supurb quality and fair trade to boot! I love the fact that these silk lanterns (in some styles) can double as lamps OR as hanging lanterns - talk about options! As someone who wants choices and quality I think this is a great idea - simple screw off the base, flip, attach the hanging cord and voila you're set to go. I'm in fabric stores a lot since I sew, and I can tell you the fabric choices they're using are fantastic. Good quality, lovely colors and the wire used to construct it is a very thick gauge so you won't have to worry about bending it...in fact if anyone even tried I'd be surprised if they could. The guys at the booth, Chris and Peter, were fantastic. Very personable and really helped me pick colors that went well together and made me think outside the box. I ended up with three lanterns and am SO happy I did! They look amazing and know they'll really make a statement. read more

Was a very disappointing experience today. I came in to the store to buy a coffee table made out of reclaimed wood from a tree that is close to $1500 and I also wanted to get with that a matching moon shape glass table that has a stone on the base of it with a branch that holds the glass top it was priced at $1000.. I asked one of the managers ifif he could allow me to see the table cleared of some plates displayed out on it so I can have a good visual of what it looks like and it only would have taken five minutes of their time. But what was shocking is that the Manager that was helping me asked me if I can come in tomorrow just because there were customers walking around and he felt like it would be too much trouble to clear out the table !?!?!? Make a long story short I was very disappointed with the service I got even though my intent was to purchase over $3000 worth and in return they sure made me feel that I was very inconvenient for them by asking them to clear out what was sitting on top of the table for me to get a good visual before I purchased it. Needless to say I know the owner would have treated me much better with respect and would not have let me walk away without making a purchase which I did just because I did not like the way I was made to feel by and for them to make me feel that I was being very inconvenient to them by asking their manager if I can get a better view of what I was going to be purchasing. Well Customer Servise has definitely changed and it looks like they are doing very well and not needing more customers to be doing any business with them here in Santa Cruz especially. To add that that their reasoning for not willing to help make the sale is that they claimed they were busy where when I was asking the reason I was making them feel inconvenient they had three people behind the counter standing next to each other and to be honest with you that's very sad for the owner I know it's not cheap having employees but when you have three standing behind the counter telling you it's inconvenient to clear out a table before we make a purchase which to me was BS because they were well capable of doing so but they were too busy talking to each other and too lazy to make a sale just to be blunt..Being a local I always like to support the local community but now I have to drive over the hill to go find what I need and give the bay area my money instead of keeping it local:((((( oh well read more

Lets start by saying this shop is just too cool. Great products, a nicely maintained shop. My husband and I first went over there a few months back and bought one of those neat lotus lamps. We were so excited for it but once we put it in our living room it really didnt hang as great. I called and talked to a nice gal who said just bring it back and do an exchange, so we did. This curly haired gal not only helped us with the exchange but also with figuring out what would be a great lamp for long term. Wonderful! We met the owner too. Nice chap that stood behind his products and made sure we were happy with our purchase. We will continue to bring our business here! This is one of my rare 5-star reviews. I've grown to really like this place after initially wandering in one day. Normally this wouldn't be my kind of store but the items they carry are so unique and intriguing I have to come back every time I'm downtown. I loved this place. The owner is an artist and has created some absolutely beautiful things. Most striking to my wife and I were the lamps and lanterns. It's really hard to describe them, but they are Chinese lantern style, yet very artistic and beautify. Some are in shapes of flowers, for example. Truly beautify stuff, and very reasonably priced. If you're decorating a room in dark colors or artistically this place is definitely somewhere you want to go. read more
