Spontaneously popped into Omakï Hand Roll Bar last night and had an amazing time! Our server, Lorena, was an absolute delight and incredibly attentive, Chris behind the hand rolls was fantastic, and every bite was unbelievably fresh and delicious. And the prices?! I was genuinely shocked... in the best way. If you find yourself downtown anytime soon, do yourself a favor and stop in. Gochisousama Deshita (ごちそうさまでした)

Bone found in yellowtail hand roll

A hard fish bone was in my yellowtail hand roll, and when I brought it up to the staff, I wasn't given an apology nor acknowledged in ANY way. They brought it to the kitchen and continued on with their day. It is unacceptable from a sushi restaurant, as the fish should be properly cleaned and handled. If someone choked on it or bit down hard on it, that would be an even bigger problem. The service from the host (or lack thereof) was also extremely disappointing, as he was on his phone the entire time and didn't bother welcoming us in. I messaged OMAKAI on Instagram to address this issue, and nobody bothered to reply. The only handroll that was a standout was the salmon shiso; otherwise go to Sugarfish or Kazunori instead for much better/professional service and food quality.

Omg. We went out to a bar and I got a little hungry so we saw that this place was open late. We walked in at 10:30. I felt a little bad because they close at 11, but there were no issues. Everyone was super nice and they sat us immediately. I decided to try the Omaki experience. Every single roll was beyond delicious. The chef is an expert at his craft. I can't even begin to tell you the rolls I had, but by the end I was beyond full and extremely pleased with everything I put in my mouth. Highly recommend this sushi restaurant and will definitely be back again.

Amazing experience all around, was my first visit. Excellent food and service. Thank you Lucas for helping me with the menu!

Omakai is a must-try if you love hand rolls! Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and each roll had the perfect balance of flavor and texture. My favorites were the blue crab and the yellowtail -- both were so good I could have eaten them twice. I highly recommend getting the sampler so you can try a variety, but definitely order an extra blue crab on the side... it's that good. Such a great spot in Miami and absolutely worth the visit!

Before coming in, I wasn't much of a fan of hand rolls, but after my experience at Omakai, all I can say is wow!!! Amazing. 10/10 will come back!

We came for lunch and ordered the Omakai experience for $34. It came with the following: Bronzino Mentaiko Salmon sashimi Indonesian blue crab Chilean sea bass marinated in sake Fatty tuna Scallops with something Unagi (eel), which my friend doesn't eat so she ordered a baked crab roll for $12 and I ate her eel roll. Why can't they substitute? It makes no sense. Why do they even ask if you're allergic if they can't change it??!! This was our second time here. The seaweed was crispier last time. My friend thought so too! She really liked the sea bass. It had a little kick to it. They need a sign on the building because we walked past the restaurant and were walking in circles looking at the Maps app. My friend kept saying that she remembered the Carrot Express from last time. They need more than the sidewalk sign. Tip was included in the bill so you don't need to add more unless you want to.

I picked up one of their sushi boxes to go and had a genuinely great at-home Omakase experience. The quality of the sushi was top-notch--everything tasted incredibly fresh and was beautifully packaged. The box came with a video to guide you through the tasting, which was a nice touch, even though it didn't match up perfectly with what was in the box. Still, it didn't take away from the experience. I also really appreciated the photos of the different types of sushi included at the top--it made identifying each piece fun and added to the overall presentation. I'd absolutely do this again (once I can afford it again!)

This place is delicious but what brought down my review was the service. I was on a work trip and saw this place so I decided to try it. Showed up without a reservation and it was fine - no wait and plenty of seating. I ordered the Oma, as I wanted to try their different menu items. When I wanted to order more, the staff was busy chatting it up with someone (influencer? Friend?). I have no idea who that person was but all staff was there talking to them and no one at the bar attending. I waited about 10-15 mins and no one picked up my paper with the additional items I wanted to try so I just crossed them out and had to call one of the staff members so I could get charged. Even when I was walking out, all the staff was still talking to that person. I'm assuming it was an influencer or someone they knew.

I'm a hardcore lover of hand roll bars, so when I found out one of my favorite spots, OMAKAI had a hand roll bar location in Downtown I knew it was going to be a hit. I passed by with my bestie this past weekend and I'm happy to say they did not disappoint! We passed by at around 5 pm and it was pretty empty. We ordered the OMAKAI experience $34 per person and it came with a starter of salmon sashimi, and I believe 6 hand rolls -- the portion is extremely filled and in my opinion such a steal! Nothing better than good quality hand rolls made right in front of you to enjoy. We ordered two Sauvignon blancs to welcome the weekend and they pairs perfectly with all the fish we were having. A few of my favorite hand rolls that were selected by the chef were the bay scallop, the negi toro and the white fish -- but honestly everything is delicious. I'd come here once a week if it were up to me, so so worth it!

We chose the Oma Deluxe because we wanted the entire experience. Francisco explained each sushi and what part of the fish we were eating. Each dish was brought out separately. There were about 9 pieces of different cuts of fish. They were delicious! My daughter had Sake and I had Non-alcoholic beer. Both went fine with our meal. Afterwards, we were served dessert. What a great experience! Give it a try when you can. Later, we went upstairs to ASTRA restaurant and bar to further enjoy our evening with beautiful views of Miami. Parking is mostly limited street parking though, so plan ahead. This spot is more about curated tastings, sashimi, nigiri, and handrolls rather than specialty rolls, so don't expect a huge roll menu. We ordered the sashimi assortment, white fish tasting, seared salmon, bluefin tuna tasting, unagi foie gras, and a few handrolls including blue crab and negi toro. Everything tasted super fresh and flavorful, especially the bluefin and unagi foie gras. Portions are on the lighter side though, so we left satisfied but not totally full. Cedrick was awesome and really made the experience better. He knew the menu inside and out and explained everything perfectly. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Wynwood and want quality sushi without the overly trendy vibe.

From the moment we arrived, the ambiance and location created the perfect atmosphere for a special evening. The food truly exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend the Miso Black Cod -- it was phenomenal and had the same rich, buttery texture as Chilean sea bass. Absolutely delicious. The Wagyu Burger was also outstanding -- freshly ground, high quality, and cooked perfectly. We also tried one of their sushi rolls topped with miso and filled with fresh tuna and salmon, and it was incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. You can really taste the quality in every bite. Our server (I didn't catch her name -- an Asian woman, possibly in her 40s) was wonderful and made our experience even more enjoyable with her attentive and warm service. Booked same-day on OpenTable, seated immediately on a packed Friday night. The covered terrace is stunning -- Japanese paper lanterns, string lights, tropical foliage. The Dragon Fruit Lemonade mocktails arrived orchid-garnished and vivid fuchsia. My Wahakan Old Fashioned came with a single spherical ice ball in a crystal-cut glass. Food highlights: Baby Corn in parmesan cream with paprika was the dish of the night. Crispy Truffle Fried Rice hearty and satisfying. Miso soup clean. Salmon Furai solid. Sushi enjoyable though the rice lacks the refinement of Miami's top raw bars. Vegetarians: limited options -- one Veggie Roll and uncertain tofu preparation when we asked to add it to the rice. Service warm but plates were cleared twice while we were still eating. On billing: 20% service charge added automatically, then the receipt suggests an extra 2-5% tip on top -- worth knowing upfront. OpenTable users: if you're redeeming a Dining Reward card, the staff hadn't encountered one before -- but the manager handled it graciously and honored the full amount without issue. Family-friendly, fair value, genuinely memorable evening.

All the plates and dishes were just so stunning. The other thing that really stood out was the service. They were so friendly and helpful. I truly appreciate when servers know their menu well and are able to make suggestions. I can't remember my server's name, but she was just top-notch. We ordered: - Miso soup, (served in a charming, Japanese chawan mushi cup) the flavor was really good and strong. (I hate it when it's weak) - Spicy dumplings. They tasted homemade. Yummy - Shrimp shu mai, good, tasted as it should - Tanaka roll, with extra crispies on top, (I was not a fan because I did not expect it to be deep-fried. if it had not been deep-fried, I would've liked it.) - Peking duck served in an impressive three tier tower that looks like a round Chinese Temple. - Pork Belly Bao bun, this was also a miss for me because I expected it to taste like barbecue, but it was just really salty like they used a lot of brown salty sauce. All in all, I really enjoyed this restaurant, even though I didn't like those two items. Bec But, because of the excellent service, the atmosphere and the beautiful way they served the food, I decided to leave them a five star review. Those dishes weren't bad they just weren't what I expected. We don't live in the area so if we were to stay in this hotel again, we would definitely dine here again. We normally check the Michelin Guide first but there's none for Miami so we decided to browse through Tock for fun. This was how we stumbled upon Sushi Bar and we are so glad we did! The price point of $185 per seating is super worth it. You get a lot of fish and they are very creative with each nigiri. Their spin on it shows their creative side (with Miami flavors) but is not super over the top and sauce does not drown out the freshness of the fish. Something that stood out to me was how they shaved frozen monkfish liver as a topping. I wanna go back just for that!! They also had some pieces where they smoked the fish. Besides the food, I thought it was very creative how they welcomed guests with a welcome drink at the hotel bar. This was so unique! We finished ours early, and had some of their other drinks - they were all very good! Once they're ready, a server came to get us from the hotel bar and led us through an alleyway to a separate building which was where the actual omakase was taking place. The atmosphere was dark and gave off speakeasy vibes, which I thought was different to other omakase places. Bar is spacious enough to still have private conversations. We did the beverage pairing and we really appreciated the sommelier's knowledge. Overall, we would want to come back again for another tasting experience!!
