Wow. What a find. The perfect combination of food and atmosphere. A colleague of mine recommended that I try Ombu Grill because I love Korean food. I was pleasantly surprised to see so many wonderful options including kimchi jjigae. I haven't had it in years. Ordering was as simple as choosing a few menu items that we both wanted to try. It's one price for lunch and a second for dinner. I did notice that many of the dinner options are not available on the lunch menu, but there was still plenty to try. I hate to be a hater but you could tell the meat was very poor quality. I didn't even end up personally eating any of the meat cause I was nervous but my husband and our friends felt sick after. The sides tasted very old and stale and the service was incredibly subpar. We ordered several things that just never came to our table. The walls were covered in residue and the hot plate looked like it hadn't been cleaned. They also have you grill the meats on wax paper on top of the hot plate which made it so all of the grease and fat just sat on top of it the whole time cause there was nowhere for it to go. They definitely need a health inspector in there! Our hot plate also exploded grease like 3 different times. My husband and his friends had burns on their arms. We went here for a birthday lunch, and what a wonderful experience! You can choose from so many options of foods to eat, ordering 1-4 items every "round" of the meal! We ordered shrimp and beef to grill at the table, but we also had ham-fried rice, popcorn chicken, spring rolls, fried cheese rolls, sesame balls, and chicken wings. Food was amazing! We had a pleasurable experience while eating here with 4 good friends this afternoon. However, without the company this would have been a negative experience. We will not be returning, and would recommend choosing other Korean barbecue locations. 1. Service. - We were only checked on twice during our meal without us requesting help. On the second visit the water pitcher was left for us to maneuver around the table with some difficulty, rather than an employee circling back to check on us. - When our grill got dirty or we had an order to submit, we always had to wave down a waiter, which often took several minutes. - Items were sometimes omitted, and rarely was an item large enough for our table of 6 to have more than a little piece each. 2. Quality. - The grill was a bit temperamental, cooking things either too slowly or being so hot that it hurt to cook at different points in our meal. - The grill is off-centered at tables seating more than 4, which makes it awkward if not impossible for those on the far side to safely cook. -The meats and veggies were good quality! No complaints there. 3. Price. We were not told until the end, but Ombu Grill charges dinner prices all day Saturday. Furthermore, a tip amount was printed onto our receipt (perhaps in part due to our larger group) with a line for "extra tip", which was a bit tacky. read more

One of the best (if not the best) all you can eat restaurants in Utah! Not only is the meat and food delicious, the experience itself is a lot of fun! I discovered this place with my wife, and I was so impressed I took my mom, and then my wife and I took my siblings. You won't regret coming here! I think dinner is like $21.99 and it's well worth it because everything on menu is included except drinks. You get high quality meat and it's fun to cook at your table. Customer service is great here, they let you eat at your own pace, consistently change out your pan for a clean one, and they let you stay as long as you please. We've never been rushed or felt rushed even at busy times. SUGGESTIONS AND TIPS: Don't skip the Ombu beef or Ombu Bulgogi, 2 of my favorites! And for appetizers, the fried dumplings are amazing! Easily the worst Korean barbecue I've ever had. They covered the grill with some kind of paper... it was really weird and made the cooking process slow and difficult to get any char or crisp on the meats. This must be new because I never saw pictures of this on Yelp before going. The sides brought to the table were so minimal. Every KBBQ I've been to gives loads of small sides, and they're usually amazing. They didn't have any of my favorite sides here and also not a great variety of dipping sauces. The sides we ordered off the menu were either average or terrible. It was cheap so it has that going for it. I just moved here so I'm hoping there's a better KBBQ place and this isn't typical for Utah. read more

It's incredibly rare for me to revisit a restaurant that I gave a three star or lower review to. It's even more rare for me to update a review and increase it to five stars... BUT wow! This place has changed and really improved since I was last here. My wife and kids begged me to go back and I resisted for weeks. They had been here with friends and said things had gotten substantially better. "Yeah, right," I said. Well they were right! Our waitress was just delightful and had a wonderful attitude and service ethic. The meat quality was significantly better than before and frankly better than other Korean bbq places in town. I had a great experience at Ombu! I came on a Friday night and had made a reservation ahead of time, so I was seated promptly. Upon seating, we looked at the menu for AYCE and found everything that we wanted to try :). The menu said we could only order 1-4 items at a time, but our server let us order as many as we wanted, given that we finished it all (which we did haha). I tried the 2 types of short ribs, brisket, bulgogi, tenderloin, pork belly, beef tongue, and calamari. Everything was so good (!) and tasted super fresh as well. I also really enjoyed the banchan that accompanied the kbbq. Sauces provided were also super tasty, with the garlic one being my favorite. I really enjoyed my experience here, and think this is one of the more authentic asian restaurants in Utah! Definitely a spot I'd visit again. read more

There are 50 menu items to try and we ate as much as we could! For appetizers, you've got to try the fried shrimp and fried spicy chicken wings. Our favorite meats were the marinated pork belly, premium steak, beef short ribs, the beef bibimbap, and, the general manager's favorite (and now ours too), the bacon enoki mushroom! This was my first time having Korean BBQ and I loved it! The meats were fresh and flavorful, especially the beef bulgogi (yum!) and the veggies were pretty good too. It was really fun to cook our own meal on the bbq at our table. There's a set price and it's all-you-can-eat with a huge menu of things to order. This is a great place for people eating low carb! Their dipping sauces were good and the kimchi were great. Since this was our first time here we were a little unsure how it all "worked" and our waitress Yanong (I'm sure I'm spelling it wrong) was the sweetest and showed us step by step how to do everything. We had a party of 2, and waited about 20 minutes to be seated on a Saturday night at 5:30 and the place was packed and there were 3 parties ahead of us so it was a reasonable wait. Food was perfection- best Korean BBQ I've had in the state, hands down. Everything was tasty. The kimchi tasted a little like it had been tweaked for Utah's palette, in that it was more sweet and less fishy, and I thought it was fantastic like that. Lots of options for meats and sides in the buffet, all of them tasty. Easily the best potstickers I've had- the sauce was incredible. My favorite meat was probably the spicy pork belly. For the price, which was $24 for dinner at the time of writing this, I definitely think the value proposition is there. I feel like it's actually a deal. Lunch is $17, and you lose out on a few of the meats but the value there is amazing. We'll be back for sure! read more

The two waiters that served us didn't understand English, so it was very difficult to communicate with them. Hence, I was not satisfied with the customer service as we had to be quite repetitive with our questions and orders. In return, they answered either very timidly or aggressively which was frustrating. Nonetheless, the food came very quick, and had a wide selection of foods we could pick from. Yet, I would only eat the cooked spicy chicken, tofu soups and the menu items 21-23 if I were to come again, as the other meats were not of good quality or flavourful at all. Came right at opening on a Saturday. They weren't quite ready, but seated us as they got the salad bar and dipping sauces set out. Our drink orders were quickly taken and brought out. We ordered marinated beef, marinated pork loin, and vegetables for our first round of grilling. The grill wasn't very hot so the server turned it up when she noticed. Second round we got more marinated beef, marinated pork belly, and sausages. Meat tasted good and fresh. Marinades were great. It was hard to tell when the sausages and pork belly were cooked. We tried all the dipping sauces and liked the house bbq best. I liked the soy paste one also. The sausages were good with hoisin. Restaurant is clean and modern, booths are comfortable. The music they had on was late 90s, early 2000s alternative which is totally what I love. It's not loud so you could tune it out easily if you don't like it. Only complaint is it's hard to get a drink refill!! I had water and my husband hd Dr Pepper and we'd set our cups at the end of the table when empty but they still got ignored for a while before finally being filled. We were the only customers the hour we were in there. Also the Korean side dishes are given in very small amounts. Two slices of potato, four pieces of cucumber which is the equivalent of just one half inch slice of cucumber. They do refill them if you want thankfully. We didn't utilize the salad bar, but it looked fresh and while small covered the basics. Overall I don't know if we'd go to Ombu again over Yummy's. But Ombu isn't a bad option and has a less formal feel which is nice. read more

THIS IS NOT KOREAN FOOD/BBQ This is a Chinese restaurant masquerading as a Korean BBQ. It looks like a Korean bbq joint with cooking at the tables. The menu has somewhat familiar looking food with thin meat. It has side dishes that should taste Korean. But this is not Korean. Look, I have lived in Korea for years. I have eaten Korean food all over the world over the last 30 years, and I can cook ANY Korean food myself. I know what Korean food is. This is not it. Not remotely. The kimchi looked like kimchi, but did not taste like kimchi. I have never, ever, had kimchi that bad. Since I ordered kimchi fried rice, it made it 2X worse. Kimchi is not hard to make. Better yet, there are great restaurant quality stuff you can buy in a bottle. This was bad. What was supposed to be LA galbi, was, well, I have no idea. Again, the recipe for bulgogi/ galbi sauce isn't hard to make. I can't figure out how this could be so wrong. Buy a bottle if you can't make it. Seriously, go online, there are a bazillion recipes. The marinated beef chunks wasn't bulgogi. However, it was interesting and not terrible. It just wasn't Korean. And it wasn't bulgogi. The marinated chicken was inedible. Seriously bad. The fried shrimp had Utah fry sauce. Seriously? Although my wife did like the salmon fried rice. This is not Korean food. What makes it worse is last year when we were in Orem we ate at Yummy's all you can eat Korean BBQ, which isn't as bad, but not much better (see my review for them). I guess the moral of the story is don't eat Korean food in Orem Utah. Go to Provo to Sam Hawk or Koko lunchbox. read more

I've been to a couple Korean bbq places and this one was not the best. i give it two stars bc the marinade on a lot of the meats were really yum and i enjoyed it. however, several items on the menu "weren't on the menu" for some reason? idk if it was bc they didn't want to make it or what.... the service was okay but the waitress was not that nice and made us not want to order more food. they also don't have any yummy sides that other bbq places have. im not sure if Covid has anything to do with it but I was pretty disappointed. and their Oreo cheesecake was so frozen that it was not good to eat and tasted like frozen cream. i don't think i will be back unfortunately. I don't know why the low reviews. Maybe it's because I haven't tried the Korean bbq. We just ordered off of Ubereats. SO MUCH AMAZING FOOD for such a good price. We ordered the Yakisoba (my least favorite, but I'm not a fan in general. I don't like giant pieces of celery in noodles), the egg fried rice (really great flavor, perfectly cooked. They put a lot of pepper on it, but in a good way), and the country style noodle with beef and green onion. This was my favorite by FAR. It comes with a fried egg on top, and it was life changing.
