I've been to Ombu a few times because I love having a good experience with friends. They got new grills and it helped us not burn our meat. It would be 5 stars if it wasn't for this last experience on my birthday with a new group of friends. We were all enjoying time together after just turning off our stove. As we were talking, we were asked to leave because there were customers waiting for our seats. As we left it was confusing seeing half of the restaurant with open seating. This was a weird experience and unexpected. The waitress seemed annoyed from the beginning because of our big group even though we called a couple days before hand to confirm our seats. In hindsight, there might have been a miscommunication on their end, but it felt like we had to pay for their miscommunication.

They have a very rich menu the meats are not that bad they're actually really good customer service is wonderful the only thing is the area it's horrible they have homeless people standing outside of the restaurant

I'm impressed. Based on the reviews I was expecting worse. I think this place is worth the money and it's a fun experience! Good to take kids too! The food was good and the service was good but slow. The overall feel of the restaurant was clean. The bathrooms were a bit dirty but that's fixable. I would say be warned about pricing. We went in at 2pm and their website and menu says lunch pricing is till 3! As soon as we sat down they said it was dinner only. Maybe it's due to a Saturday but that is incorrect pricing based on all their advertising. Will totally be back

High quality food, service and vibes for such an affordable price! We came here for a conference and were pleasantly surprised to find such a great restaurant close to downtown

This is an excellent all you can eat Korean BBQ place. It's incredibly reasonably priced at just $21 for the dinner option that includes 50 items. They also have excellent boba that you can get as well. I got the traditional boba and it was sweetened perfectly with nice, chewy, fresh boba. On to the meal itself. The banchan (side dishes) are very limited. There is kimchi, cucumbers, seaweed salad, and a potato in sweet sauce. The items on the menu include a huge variety of appetizers, meats, and rice/noodle dishes. You can find the full menu on their website. We started off with your standard beef brisket and pork belly. The quality of meat was actually much higher than I was expecting. The meat was very flavorful, and there were a few sauces to dip them in. The pork belly was extremely fatty and melted as you ate it. We then moved on to the marinated items - beef bulgogi, beef tenderloin in a sweet sauce, and bone-in beef galbi. The beef galbi was amazing. A huge strip was brought to us and was easy to cut once it started cooking. It was extremely tender and the galbi sauce was sweet and fragrant. The beef bulgogi was solid as I expected - the meat was tender since it had been marinated. We tried the beef tenderloin which was surprisingly great. Cubes of beef were grilled to a perfect medium rare consistency, with a nice charred exterior. Final meat we had was beef tongue. This was so flavorful and tender, and I highly recommend getting this and not skipping out on it. We got an excellent kimchi fried rice that was filled with egg and spices. The vinegar-y, crunchy kimchi was a nice juxtaposition to the oily, hardy eggs and rice. The soft tofu and kimchi soup had great flavor and was nice to sip on throughout. We never made it to their other appetizers and meats as we were stuffed, but we were very pleased overall. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout, changing our grill multiple times. Parking is a little tough. There is a lot behind the building with probably a dozen or so spots. This does fill up fast during peak hours. There is plenty of free street parking all around the area, however, so you can park on the road if needed.

Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - the proteins we selected were all nicely cut and seems like decent quality as they weren't frozen solid still nor melted. The galbi was a bit disappointing as it was really chewy (not in a good way). The sides and appetizers were surprisingly good! Note that the marinades and flavors seem less Korean and more Japanese/Chinese. They were out of (32) bacon enoki or no longer carry it. These were the items we ordered (2) takoyaki, (14) fried sesame balls, (18) prime beef brisket, (19) prime beef tongue, (20) prime pork belly, (24) Ombu signature beef tenderloin, (25) Ombu signature galbi, (39) herring grill, (49) corn cheese, and (52) beef donejang soup pot Ambience: 4/5 - nice and cozy shop without the music being too loud. The shop did get really smokey as the night went on. Service: 5/5 - slight language barrier but the server was really nice and came by to check on us multiple times Value for price: 5/5 - The banner outside has incorrect advertised price! Lunch $14.99 to $15.99 and dinner $19.99 to $21.99. The food was good though and we saw the difference in price when we opened the menu so we weren't too shocked

Do they still offer Herring Grill??

    Yes, the offer Mackerel grilled.

Do you get to cook your own food or do they cook it for you?

    You cook it

Is this a Korean restaurant? There isn't one bit of Korean on the menu and there are all sorts of non-Korean dishes as well? I'm just confused cause their website says it's a Korean bbq place but it doesn't look very Korean.

    It's just a bbq place

What is on the all you can east lunch menu?

There are over 40 options I believe. There's chicken (uncooked, fried, etc) and different types of beef (marinated or not marinated), soups, fried rice, and just a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember.

Is it all you can eat?

It's all you can eat. Mon-Sat lunch until 3 pm is $15 and dinner is $20. Some items are only available for dinner.

I've never had smoked oxtails and I don't know how I've lived this long without. All the meats were so tender and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. My boyfriend and I don't really care for carbs but man that dirty rice is addictive and complements so well with the oxtails. Service is quick, attentive. Ambiance is chill. My boyfriend is so sad he doesn't have access to this place back home and is already planning the next time we will be back. I'll definitely be back by myself ;-)

The food was delicious. The oxtails were unlike anything I've had before, like a mix between brisket and ribs. The brisket was tender, moist and not dry. The ribs were chew off the bone and hearty. I also liked their sausage. A little kick, smoke and perfectly cooked. The dirty rice was delicious as a side. The Mac was good too, but the rice stole the show. Michelle was super friendly. She engaged us in conversation and taught us about their operation with catering and smoking the delicious food. We'll be back and will certainly take advantage of the Tuesday special. The restaurant is located inside a food hall with several other food vendors, and there was plenty of parking available, which was convenient. I ordered the Texan brisket sandwich with mac and cheese, along with brisket nachos (not pictured). Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. My entire meal NOT hot nor warm enough to feel freshly prepared. The brisket tasted like it had been sitting for a while--it wasn't fresh, tender, or flavorful like you'd expect from a good BBQ spot. Having visited several great BBQ restaurants over the years, this one just didn't measure up. The one highlight was the cornbread cake, which was actually very good and probably the best part of the meal. Overall, I was really looking forward to trying this place, but it didn't live up to the expectations. Based on this experience, I wouldn't return.

We arrived around 3:00 PM and, surprisingly, were literally the only customers in the restaurant. It's a fairly large establishment, so I'm hoping business picks up considerably during the lunch and dinner rushes. Overall, the meal was decent, but it didn't quite live up to expectations. Our order included two Pulled Pork Sandwiches ($12.99 each), a Classic Burger ($16.99) with Pepper Jack Cheese ($1.00) and Onion Rings ($2.49), plus baked beans, jambalaya, and drinks. The total came to $66.55 before tip. The highlight of the meal was definitely the baked beans. They were flavorful, well-seasoned, and probably the best thing on the table. The pulled pork sandwiches were just okay. The pork seemed a little dry and somewhat overcooked, and the buns could definitely be upgraded. A better-quality bun would have gone a long way toward improving the sandwich. The onion rings were disappointing. They tasted overdone and didn't seem particularly fresh. They lacked the crisp, light texture I was hoping for. As for the service, it was not up to par. With no other customers in the restaurant, I expected a little more attentiveness and hospitality. The service wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't memorable in a positive way. In the end, Pat's Barbecue delivered an acceptable meal, but there were enough issues with the food quality and service that I can only give it 3 stars. If I'm back in the area, I might give it another try and see how it compares during a busier time of day, but based on this visit, it was simply average.
