    So cute and spotless!!!

Darling little romantic spot at night. Food and service was terrific. The desserts are homemade and look amazing but I was to full to indulge nice addition to the area and very reasonably priced! Seems like they have really great specials and change them up regularly! Ask for Chloe!

    Low lighting and cool jazz!

Try this place for dinner! Best kept secret ! Different chef at night, terrific menu, cool jazz in the background- tablecloths! Additions to the menu nightly. Try the shrimp & grits. I had lamb chops one night- wonderful!

There incredible Bacon Cheese Mushroom burger--YUM!

Why am I a fan? JUST the best, juiciest, BIGGEST homemade hamburger in town! Went there for breakfast a few weeks back with a friend--it was late morning, and as we walked in someone's burger plate was put up on the bar--it looked so damned good I had to try it. Big, toasted, sesame-seed bun with a large, juicy handmade beefy burger, plenty of fresh tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, onions--cut it in half, it's the only way to get it into your mouth--had to be at least half a pound! For less than seven bucks, it's an amazing deal! Comes with loads of crispy fries or you can get chips or coleslaw. I was totally impressed! Went back later with my son--he got the jalapeño burger loaded with Jack cheese and plenty of peppers--he loved it! I had the fried tilapia sandwich--two tasty, delicately fried filets loaded onto a toasted bun, with delicious coleslaw on the side---low price, great flavor--not to be missed! Back AGAIN, with hubby and daughter, for the bacon-mushroom-swiss burger--mouth-wateringly delicious!!! Seriously amazing burgers here, folks! They also serve dinner: meats are $3, each vegie is $1, but no rolls or biscuits, and, for my taste, too many starches and fried items, but the pork chops were big and tasty. The first time I went, I could see my friend's pork chop breakfast looked good, and she loves the breakfasts there--very picky lady, so take her word for it! This is a simple American diner with delicious everyday type dishes at fantastic prices, pleasant waitstaff, clean, well-lit by a big picture window. For me, lunch is their strong suit, but I have been told by good friends that their breakfasts are to-die-for---stay tuned, as I intend to find out later! Ok, here's the dinner update: not bad, not great, but good for the money. No roll or muffin or biscuit and the Texas Toast I ordered was grilled without butter. Out of a couple of menu items at OPENING TIME--not good. My final observation: Skip dinner, go for the MAGNIFICENT BURGERS! or the tasty breakfasts and be glad you were there!

We each started with a glass of wine and ordered the steak w Chinese broccoli and potatoes (it had a fancier name but I forgot to save it). Let me just say.... amazing dinner! Best dinner we ate the whole time we were in Savannah! Everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly and deliciously! We normally don't get dessert but was amazed with dinner so decided to take a gamble with the desert. I ordered the coconut sorbet and fruit compote and it was delicious as well! It…read morewas difficult to pick a restaurant to have dinner at, because there's so many great choices in Savannah, but seeing that the minds behind Common Thread were recently semifinalists for Best Chef SE through the James Beard Awards, it ended up being my choice. I'm absolutely glad I picked it. Walking in, we were greeted with smiles. The house/restaurant was stunning. It was quirky but still had its charm. We were escorted to our table, which was an odd little table halfway up the stairs, away from everyone. We were told that table was meant of anniversaries/intimate events. It felt awkward at first but it ended up being fun people watching and listening in to conversations as people walked by. Colton was our server. He was great. Extremely knowledgeable. He walked us through the menu, offered great suggestions on food and wine, did a proper wine service, and even properly pronounced the region in which the wine was from. Colton definitely made us feel special and gave us an incredible experience. I'll definitely give it to Common Thread. The knowledge in which every staff member presented was incredible. As every person dropped off an item at the table, they accurately described the dish in detail before they walked away. I've been in the restaurant industry for almost 20 years; serving, bartending, and managing numerous different types of restaurants, from casual to fine dining. I've opened up a few restaurants and have been a trainer as well. Common Thread is operating at a high level in terms of the staff's ability. The food: incredible. We started with one of each oyster, and it was insane how much flavor was packed in them. Our first course was also accompanied with the hand roll and the apple beet salad. The hand roll was fantastic. The beet salad felt like it needed some sort of acid/citrus with it, but still had great flavor. Course two was the mushroom cannelloni and the orecchiette. Both were phenomenal. My wife was obsessed with the cannelloni, the butternut squash puree was a perfect accompaniment. The pesto/parmesan foam on the orecchiette was an excellent touch. Course three we went against Colton's suggestion for the pork chop (almost got both, we were stuffed), and got the Ribeye. Great char, cooked perfectly. The peppercorn jus was an excellent topper for it. For dessert, we opted for the sticky toffee pudding. Although it wasn't sticky, the ginger pairing with it was an excellent touch. This is one of the best experiences we've ever had at a restaurant. This will be a staple for us whenever we're back in Savannah and will definitely be asking for Colton again. He is the kind of server I'd like to have at my restaurant. Props to Common Thread, props to Colton.

The brunch menu is fairly…read moreextensive, so we had some difficulty choosing what to order....but definitely come hungry because the portions are large and the food is pretty rich. To share amongst the table, we ordered the cinnamon toast banane and crispy gouda grit croquettes. Thumbs up on both, particularly the croquettes which were the right balance of gooey and structured enough to eat with the delicious sauce on the side. The cinnamon toast banane was not so much toast as cinnamon rolls with bananas foster; the cinnamon rolls were really tasty and the bananas foster was good, though the bourbon flavor was strong. For my entree, I ordered one of the lighter vegetarian dishes - the mushroom tartine with tomato soup. I think it is one of the lighter dishes - certainly lighter than what my dining companions ordered - but it was still quite rich with a fair amount of gouda fondue in the tomato bisque soup. The mushroom tartine/sandwich was really flavorful with the pesto, cheese and tons of mushrooms. The restaurant is quite large with an upstairs seating area.

The greeting from our arrival to seating was prompt and very courteous. We got suggestions from the wait staff and started our experience. They have an extensive cocktail and wine list. Very hard not to make it chewy. Great char and sauce that accompanied it. For entrees, we did the Perloo, an amazing interpretation, and a swordfish. Both dishes were immaculately prepared and perfectly sized. We chose a bottle of Loss and Lehn, something we had never tried before but recommended based on what we had ordered. It matched perfectly with both dishes. We also choose items from the pick 3 menu to accompany our entrees. We finished with the best bread Pudding we have ever had nd french press coffee. Looking around at the tables around us nothing really caught our eye after reading the menu, we didn't want to leave since we were able to get reservations so we got some starters and shareables. There was a couple next to us who was having the same dilemma after over hearing their conversation. The kale salad was okay but a little bitter for my liking and the potato soup had a thick layer of oil on the top which looked intentional but wasn't our cup of tea. The cornbread and mashed potatoes were good but nothing crazy in our opinion to write home about. Service was okay on our end, once our waiter realized we weren't getting any main entrees it felt like he ghosted us with no water until our food came out and then never came back to check in on us until he brought the check. We are going to try to come again next time we are in town in hopes we have a better experience and different menu!

We were sat in what I believe used to be a front parlour, by a window over looking the street. We had a dual service with one person being the "main" server, his name was Michael. He was in charge of giving us the spiel and answering our questions. A woman (I forget her name, sorry! But she was lovely) was in charge of running the food and clearing the plates. It was a very well run machine. The menu is pre set, but there were choices on some of the courses, like course where an option was a soft shelled crab - I definitely wanted to take advantage of that! We started off with Biscuits with butter and homemade orange marmalade, these were delightful, so fluffy and soft, and the marmalade was sweet, not bitter like it sometimes can be. The Amuse bouche was a trio of tiny items: a pimento cheese tart, a mussel with chipotle sauce and panko, and a square of salmon with mild wasabi and ginger. The salmon was definitely my favorite. The fifth course had a special as I noted before, so I opted to go for that, it was a soft shell crab with garlic, herbs and a vidalia onion slaw. Topped with peanuts and a white wine sauce. I think my favorite course of them all was the scallops with the carrots and the whipped ricotta - so simple but so delicious! Phenomenal special occasion place or just to cross off your bucket list. If I am in Savannah again (and the likelihood is high, its such an amazing city), I will be back.
