Crab cakes, eggs, grits with butter, cheese, and raising toast.
Michelle V.

I recently had breakfast here at my Daddy's recommendation. I was not disappointed. Where do I start? There is a saying that we eat with our eyes first. On that note, The Smoking Egg is visually appealing. The restaurant is spacious and bright with yellow and white walls. The lighting was just right. The seats and tables were comfortable and spaced apart just right....and CLEAN! The staff was amazing! They really made dad and me feel welcomed. My dad is a regular and noted that this is the norm, and I got to experience this for myself. Everyone was so friendly! Our waitress was the best - so nice, energetic, and attentive! Now, the food! It was breakfast time. I felt like I could have eat everything, but settled on the crab cakes, eggs, grits, and raisin toast. Dad had the salmon cakes. We traded so that we each had one crab cake and one salmon cake. The crab and salmon cakes were smallish but solid - packed with meat and seasoned just right. The crabmeat was sweet and tender with a nice crust on the outside. The salmon cakes were just like what my mom used to make. The grits were thick and creamy, salted just right. Thanks to Chef for preparing my eggs just the way I like - over medium hard. Daddy had no complaints about his food. Oh, and the coffee was hot and delicious as well. We liked that Chef visited our table and asked about our experiences. He's got plans for expansion, so look out! Overall, I really enjoyed my visit to The Smoking Egg. It checked all my boxes - a warm and friendly atmosphere, great staff, and delicious and affordable food. I plan on becoming a regular. If i had to offer any suggestions, one would be to offer a complete menu. I would have wanted pancakes and bacon, but because they weren't on the menu, I wasn't aware that those options were available. Also, I inhale coffee by the bucketful. The coffee cups were nice, but a little small. It would,be nice to offer larger sizes. That way, in my opinion, the wait staff won't have to spend too much time refilling my cup. None of these things took away from my overall experience. I will be returning

Old and I guess somewhat new shrimp shame shame shame

I wish I could give you a negative less than one star cause that's what you deserve. The shrimp and okra gumbo is a absolute fail, cause why when I start eating the shrimp and okra gumball I got excited cause I thought it had another type of meat in it, but as I look at the other type of meat, which is darker that some of the other shrimp. I don't know if anybody ever seen old shrimp mixed with new shrimp and there's a big difference. The old shrimp are brown and tastes old and nasty like what is going on at this restaurant how you mess up shrimp and okra gumball is a very simple task just keep it fresh and don't mix old and New. Anybody should know that. Yall should be a shame shame shame shame shame

The staff at this establishment is exceptionally friendly and creates an inviting hometown atmosphere. The cleanliness is impeccable. The food is exceptional, came out hot and was season to perfection. I will certainly return.

This was The Smoking Egg's first full day of business, so there are some kinks to work out.  The time from ordering food to its arrival at the table was over an hour. Due to this, the experience turned from dine-in to take-out. When the food (fried whiting, scrambled eggs, and cheese grits) finally arrived it was underwhelming in presentation and taste. I am sure the kitchen staff will solve these problems in the immediate future. The check-in and wait staff were extremely patient and professional during this visit. I was comped for my order of bananna pudding due to the wait. I'll come back and visit this smoking in a few months and hopefully, the kinks are worked out.

Shrimp & grits!

This was my first visit. Id come back again. I had the shrimp and grits which had great flavor on the gravy and the grits were cooked well and not gritty or soupy. The staff were nice and attentive.

Crawfish and grits, chicken livers and onions, salmon, Mac n cheese, collard greens, and candied yams.

We had a fantastic brunch. The vibe was chill and bright with a great playlist. The service was friendly, efficient, and precise. I had the crawfish and grits in Tasso cream sauce, a side of chicken livers and onions, and collard greens. My partner ordered salmon, candied yams, collard greens, and Mac n cheese. Everything was delicious - the collard greens were outstanding. We will definitely be returning.

Crawfish n Grits

Just left The Smoking Egg and I AM VERY pleased. Greeted by very friendly staff. My Crawfish and Grits were very good. Laidback chill vibe in a clean environment. I WILL RETURN to support this minority owned business for sure. Bring your Friends!!!

The online menu photos looked incredible (though I still side-eye those famous PB&J wings--maybe next time!). We chose the Treylor Park Double Wide Diner for breakfast and were thrilled we did. Pro tip: Head there early on a Sunday morning! Alcohol can't be served until after 11 a.m., so the place is surprisingly quiet and easy to get into--no crowds or long waits. We were seated right away, and our server was incredibly friendly and attentive from start to finish. My husband went for The Chupacabra--a massive chimichanga-style breakfast burrito stuffed with eggs, sausage, onions, cheddar cheese, fresh pico de gallo, Sriracha, and chipotle crème fraîche, served with cheesy grits on the side. I ordered the Brunch Nachos, which sounded fun as an "appetizer"... big mistake (or the best kind of mistake!). It was a towering plate of waffle fries loaded with cheddar cheese, bacon, sausage gravy, fried chicken, and topped with sunny-side-up eggs. Both portions were enormous and absolutely delicious--we had to pace ourselves to make a dent in them! Everything tasted fantastic, with bold flavors and that perfect Southern comfort twist Treylor Park is known for. We're already planning to stop by again whenever we're near one of their locations--highly recommend for a fun, hearty breakfast!

Open only until 2:00 PM, if you're looking for breakfast, brunch or lunch, this is the place to be. Arriving at just about noon, the place was packed, but not unpleasantly so, with customers that quickly moved through the ordering process, past the register, and to the ample seating, of their own choosing (with limited outdoor seating available; but not preferable at the time, due to the spotty showers that also choose to attend). Beverages are provided as payment is being made, leaving no thirst unquenched. Needless to say, seating is immediate. With a cup of rich, flavorful, house blend coffee in hand, my daughter, Son in Law, and I found a seat with a great view of the market activities happening outside only moments before our meals were served. The Italian Panini, chock full of succulent mildly spicy meats and lettuce, covered proportionately with dressing (yes, I was given my own bite size sample) , was my daughter's choice; a visually appealing (although not personally sampled) breakfast platter was the pick of the day for my Son in Law; and, Salmon BLT, composed of one thick, juicy piece of salmon, bursting with flavor, accented by a slice of smokey bacon atop a crisp bed of lettuce, slathered in a mild, but tasty, mustard based sauce, between two halves of a soft , flakey, croissant that more than rivaled the size of an average hamburger bun, was my choice. It did not disappoint. At just under $45.00, before tip, all of this seemed like a bargain. If there could be a downside to this experience, and I would say there couldn't be, it would be that, when visiting Savanah, choosing the place to eat jus became a bit more difficult, with Goose Feathers now in contention.
