My husband and I stayed at the Long Beach Hyatt Regency hotel for a work convention this weekend. We were looking for nearby eats to enjoy eating by the pier and pleasantly found Tugboat Pete's! I couldn't recommend this place more if you're looking for a quick bite while walking around the area-- kind service, affordable and high quality warm flavorful food! Definitely can be the most cost effective meal in the area especially if you just get a simple dog. Cute kitschy stand, that kinda transports you back in time, felt like summertime as a kid. I was craving a chili cheese dog, but they didn't have chili (at just past 1pm), which was disappointing. I upgraded to a Chicago dog, and upgraded to a polish sausage. I'd have liked more onions and it wasn't the standard neon relish of a Chicago dog, but I did like the pickle spear. It tasted decent, and was filling and ended up being $8.50. Would get again if in the area and looking for a quick bite to eat, and maybe give their pastrami sandwich a try. I liked the hot dog I got a whole bunch and nachos were lathered in delicious cheese. My only problem, I waited like 40 minutes for my hot dog. My lady got to enjoy her delicious nachos for a good 20 minutes before I got my food. Line had maybe 4 people in front but wow it was moving slowly. Had a little bit of trouble finding it so make sure you go to the water side of the restaurants and shops. It is a small place. Had to give props to Ryan, who was so awesome when we visited. We originally came to take advantage of the Wed cruise offered when a meal is purchased during the summer. Unfortunately, we did not know we had to call and reserve in advance for this. Okay, I was starting to lose hope in the dining options at the Shoreline Village, but Tugboat Pete's came and proved me wrong. Burgers under $5.00, that's a steal. They have the most delicious chili cheese nachos with the most flavorful jalapenos over it. Hot dogs are thick and juicy with mustard, beautifully drizzled on top!! The burgers LOOK SOOO HAPPY that I swear I can see a smile back from the patty and the cheese. That's how happy and wonderful this stand is. I love this spot. If you are looking for something delicious and quick for lunch, this is your place. After a bike ride or stroll around the marina this is my place to go. Hotdogs /burgers/ sandwiches are made to order and the guy behind the register is always welcoming. Perhaps they should add some side of fries in the menu. A large hot dog indeed and a really tasty chili poured on top. Not too sweet, spicy, or salty. It's a perfect hot dog chili. Shredded cheddar on the very top is half melted which makes for a gooey treat. Nothing fancy, just American comfort food done right. Next time I'll be sure to grab some nachos! read more

The food is way overpriced for simple, homemade burgers and the elote was literally just a can of watered-down corn warmed up in the microwave thrown in w/some butter, cheese, and mayo. My husband asked for a few additional napkins thru the side port hole window and the guy that appeared to maybe be the owner told him to go to the front. Thankfully another worker (a lady) handed them to my husband thru the port hole. My husband said "thank you" and then someone slammed the port hole window shut. It should be noted that they were calling names and orders out the port hole window so we figured we could get additional napkins. Since I'm giving a review, I'd also like to add that it was very unprofessional for another family (apparently friends of the workers) to go up to the port hole and order and not pay for their food and cut the line.
