Came here for a late night sushi run. Bummed out that there was no all you can eat sushi program here.... spent over $60 rather than the usual $20 something normally spent. I ate at the bar and the sushi was made fast. It was pretty good. The spider roll was good. The sushi pieces were a good size. Sea urchin is definitely an acquired taste. Their rasberry sake was good as well. Was in and out in no time. Glad t he you were open till 11pm since the majority of the dishing places close by 10pm. If I have another late night sushi craving I'll definitely be back but if the other AYCE are open (sushi one spot or Gao sushi) I will definitely be there. read more

Omokase is by far my favorite place for sushi in the I.E. The fish is always fresh, with shipments received Tuesdays and Thursday I believe. Also the serving size is never skimpy on the fish. My go to plate is the Beef Udon which is superb when compared to all the others I have had in multiple cities locally as well in other states. Next go to is the Chicken Bowl with brown rice hold the sauce. Very clean eating if you are into that. Let's get to the nitty gritty... The sushi. First and foremost it is always recommended no matter what sushi restaurant you are in, ask the chef what is the freshest. Waitresses in most sushi restaurants say it's all fresh, granted but I always insist they ask the chef. If you listen to their recommendations you usually can't go wrong. With that said, my sushi recommendations in order if fresh. 1) Blue Fin Tuna (if they have jump on it because it goes fast) 2) Big Eye Tuna 3) Ono 4) Spanish Mackerel 5) Yellow Tail Belly 6) Albacore 7) Halibut 8) Yellow Tail 9) Tuna Yes Salmon is not on the list, well because it's not my cup of tea. One star because of the cleanliness of the restaurant. Got grossed out because the table was dirty. Sticky and left stain on my sweater from the edge. Overall cleanliness was lacking. Not sure how this place has such high reviews. Some of the servers were friendly and accommodating while others pretended we were not there and made it seem like they wanted us to leave. We had a variety of different rolls. They were much too large. Too big to fit in your mouth and fell apart when biting into them. Definitely better sushi spots out there considering the price. I would go as far as to say that all you can eat sushi spots have better sushi than this. If you're in the mood for sushi definitely pass on this place. read more

This was my favorite sushi place in my area for a long time, that sure did change. On my last couple trips there the service was definitely lacking. I went for lunch last Friday and when I arrived there was only 4 customers in the place. They got our drink order pretty quickly and I placed my order at that time. We waited for a long time as the restaurant started to fill up, I noticed all 3 sushi chefs were working on to go orders. When the ppl at the table behind us got their food I stopped the waitress to ask why we didn't have our food after waiting a good 15 minutes longer than them. WTH did they not put my order in? When I did get my sushi it was not good quality, we didn't even eat it all it was so bad. Slimy salmon is not appetizing and they're forgetting ingredients in their rolls. When it comes to Rancho Cucamonga, you don't really think of Japanese food. Or at least I don't. Rancho was just some random suburb I passed along the way to and from Vegas. However, I heard about Omokase and had to try it out when I was passing by. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. More importantly, the food is extremely tasteful and is presented very well. If you're looking for some suggestions, I recommend that you try their: stuffed jalapeño, heavenly burrito, cajun chicken, baked scallop, and for dessert, try their green tea tempura ice cream. It's made with pound cake! If you want to get happy, then you should definitely come here for their happy hour. In fact, you can get happy for a whole 3 hours. They've got deals on food and best of all, alcohol. :) Omokase's customer service is also very personable. They're attentive, friendly, and helpful. Aside from the food, I'd have to say that their customer service is what makes me look forward to coming back. Everyone is super chill and cool. Check it out. TERRIBLE SERVICE! We went here for lunch. First we are seated and quickly they took our drink order, then ignored us for maybe 15 minutes and we had to flag a woman down to take our order. We ordered the beef gyoza appetizer, the combination lunch special and a rainbow roll. Within 10-15 minutes later, we got the combination plate... before the appetizer and before the sushi. My boyfriend and I shared the combination plate, but my boyfriend loves sushi so we patiently waited. We waited for another 15 minutes, still nothing. By this time people that had come in after us been seated and were already getting their sushi rolls...So we flagged another waitress down told her we wanted our check, minus the appetizer and the roll because WE NEVER RECEIVED THEM. she just said oh okay and said sorry as she was dropping the check. The place was not busy! It had maybe 8 people, who had already been served and were eating, so there was no reason for the wait. They missed out on about a $30 check and lost customers for life. We ordered the veggie ramen, una don, and combination bento. I was encouraged by the positive reviews, but I should've known better. There are no good Japanese restaurants this far inland. The tuna sashimi was not fresh at all, it had clearly been sitting in the freezer for some time and had a terrible flavor. The salmon was fine, but not memorable. The shrimp tempura was 70% batter, 30% shrimp; it was incredibly disappointing. The cucumber sunamono was refreshing. Veggie ramen was a little on the bland side, but ramen is usually only good when the restaurant specializes in it. The una don didn't come out until after everything else was eaten. The kitchen needs to work on their timing. The restaurant is incredibly busy. Expect to wait if you don't have a reservation. Our server was great and super friendly. It seemed like the place was understaffed, they definitely could benefit from another waiter. If you're looking for drinks and California rolls, then this is a great place to hang out. The only raw fish I really enjoy is tuna and the Tiger roll had really delicious tuna with shrimp tempura. I tried my bf's Shrimp roll and wasn't very impressed. The flavor was bland in comparison to the Tiger Roll and Alaska Roll. Overall, had quick service. Sushi did its job in satisfying my sushi roll cravings. I think I had hungry eyes when I came in for dinner, but all the food I ordered was delicious. It was a pretty busy Friday night so my friend and I sat at the sushi bar. I've been here before so I knew what to expect as far as food and service. I had ordered the crunch roll, baked salmon roll, and crispy rice with spicy tuna. Taste wise everything was great. However, portion size was rather big for me. I like eating my sushi all in one bite to get all the flavor going, but it took 2-3 bites for me to eat. My favorite dish is the crispy rice with spicy tuna. Only time I will eat something raw. My friend ordered a spider roll and fried calamari. The calamari was a very good sized portion for the price you pay. Most places will just give you a small bowl of calamari but they gave us large pieces on a plate. Service was pretty fast. Worst decision I've ever made. So I get home to a long straight dark hair in my first bite baked roll. I have blonde hair and my boyfriends is curly. No one that was ours. So I was disgusted and moved to my fresh fish. I had a piece of tuna and noticed a bit of strange texture. But proceeded to another as I haven't eaten all day today. My boyfriend bites into a piece and immediately spits it out because of the smell and comments on the taste as well. I smell the fish and it smelled horrible tuna smelled incredibly sour and albacore in the same box also had a sour scent. WOW. I thought I found the spot with Sushi One Spot for sushi in Rancho. This place was even better!!! The quality of the fish was top notch. I sat at the bar and was taken care of by Chef John. He was friendly and humorous. I ordered several different kind of sushi and the ichiban roll. Everything was made quick. When eating, you can really tell that they use high quality fish. It was some of the best yellowtail I've had. This place has a really big selection and everything is done extremely well. They even have several different types of dessert. My waitress wasn't very attentive. She didn't ignore me, but she didn't really check in on me either. It wasn't bad enough to detract a star, but something to note. Also, the salmon sushi was HUGE. It was difficult to eat in one bite. Again, this isn't bad necessarily, just something to be aware of. For the quality and dessert selection, I like this place better than Sushi One Spot. So he had to order 2/5 fish however, the server came out & gave him one of the fish they said they didn't have. So he ended up with Way more than he had expected to eat. He didn't want to leave the fish there so he forced himself to eat it all. I ordered the spicy tuna - extra spicy & the server mentioned that in order to make it extra spicy they had to charge me as a dragon roll so I said that was OK and when she came back she came back with a dragon roll not my spicy tuna roll. The overall experience was just not great. Our server had to leave so we were assigned another one. After we finished eating, we waited 20 mins because the server was not coming by our table. until we finally got up to ask for our check. My friend and I tend to go here to catch up and take advantage of the happy hour. $2.50 sake, yes please! As for the food, it's pretty average. Not bad, but not mind-blowing either. Just what you would expect from any sushi restaurant. I've never gotten the sashimi so I cannot attest to the freshness of it. Prices are a little bit on the pricey side, but I'm a bit of a bargain shopper and on the thrifty side so my $14 dragon roll better be damn good. it was only ok. We usually sit at the bar and end up befriending people nearby and chat it up so it's a nice atmosphere. Service is kinda crappy... Definitely not too good about refilling water. We were there for over 2 hours one night, and I would say I never got the refill the entire time, and my glass was empty for a good hour. I am most definitely a fan of Omokase. This is such a wonderful find in the IE. I was in a search for a good affordable sushi place and luckily decided to try this place. Now I come on a weekly basis. I would rather eat here than at Kabuki. The sushi is as fresh and delicious as any sushi place by the coast. The only difference is that it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Rolls are also fairly large. I am more than satisfied after spending 10-15 bucks on a few rolls. The service is great. The staff is friendly and they always have smiles on their faces. The sushi chefs are very accomodating. We once came after the sushi bar closed and one of the chefs reopened the bar after his shift was over to make us some rolls. How many other places would do that for you? I have tried various "All-you-can-eat" sushi places. To name a few, are Sushi Martini, Sake to Me, and Sushi One Spot. All these three restaurants offer similar rolls and nigiris. However, the Uni from Omokase tasted the best. It is very important to have fresh Uni. You can really taste the freshness of the uni when you put it in your mouth. Great place for fun. Full bar and TV. We went on Friday and it was crowded. The sushi was good but not the best I've had. We ordered the Las Vegas roll, Marble Lobster roll, Hungry roll and Chef Jae's Special roll. All rolls were good but a note about the Hungry roll and Chef Jae's roll. The Hungry roll is enormous and cant be eaten in one bite. You are going to need a knife for it. My date and I couldn't finish it together. Chef Jae's Special roll isnt on the menu. You just gotta know about it. When you ask for it the waitress will come back to you and tell you the price which for us was $19.95. There are many different variations of the special roll to so you have to know which one you want or he will choose for himself which one to make you. Ours was wrapped in red snapper and on the inside was a small amount of rice, eel and creme cheese and on top was fish eggs and a white sauce. It was yummy but I didn't think it was worth $20.00. My only problem with this place is that they seem disorganized when things get busy. They don't have a system for a wait list for tables. We put out name on the list to be seated but other people who had just walked in were seated before us. Unless those people had a reservation, that shouldn't have happened.
