I have gone to this billiards place for my friends birthday the last two years and it's always a fun time. They have great food that is also reasonably priced, a great selection of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, and a pretty neat jukebox (whatever the modern equivalent would be haha). I don't have much experience in playing pool but this place was cool and i had a great time with my friend so as far as that it was a good place to hang out and play a couple games. We will probably be going back and they had buckets of beer so for next time I will remember that. read more

A genuinely CLEAN pool hall. Sounds like an oxymoron. Well this place despite being full on a Wed night was VERY clean. The tables are in fantastic condition as well as the cues. The restroom was also clean and did not stink. Very well priced, not to mention the 25% off when you check in on Yelp. I saw they have a few beers on tap, I didn't order any so I can't comment on them. The girl up front was helpful and quick to answer all our questions. If I'm ever in La Mesa again in the evening I'll definitely come by for some pool! read more

I drive from Coronado to this place to play pool because it's that good. I'll be going more often and will update this more info (tourneys, prices, etc). They have beer and food but the food isn't that great. If you live in San Diego and like to play pool, this is the place to go! (edit) Been going here a lot more. Even the pros play here. Ga Young Kim has been coming often. People are very nice and helpful! Met a lot of cool (and some very interesting) people! They have a handicap tournament every Monday night that starts at 8. Entrance fee is $12 but you must come early (probably 6:30) if you plan on entering. The field is only 32 players. I'm amazed at the level of playing these guys are playing at! read more

If you like to play pool at a place with a great atmosphere and good prices, then this is the place that you need to stop by. This place is a great place to bring the family and shoot some billiards. Each pool table is conveniently placed to give each party ample room. There are plenty of tables so there is little to no wait for a table. When it comes to their drinks, they have the typical selection of sodas and few beers available. Food is pretty good, but what do you expect from a pool hall. If you expect 5 star quality sit down restaurant food, then you are expecting a little bit much from this place. They have a decent burger and fries combo which in my opinion should please many. The prices are reasonable and not to painful in the pocket. As far as the staff goes, they are a friendly bunch always serving people with a smile. The place is very well kept and clean. To My Little Yelplings, This place is perfect for playing pool. They have the big pool tables and they have many of them. The room is really spacey and they have a jukebox. Pool tables are reasonably priced and their food is really good. I played pool with one of my best friends for a few hours and then got Sushi at Banbu Sushi Bar & Grill which was also good. I used a Yelp deal when I went.. Came on a Wednesday night.. The place was not as clean as I'd like but I can't be too picky about a pool hall I guess.. Maybe I'm just used to nicer joints? The food smelled okay.. and the service was.. okay as well.. I don't know, nothing really made me wanna run back there with more people. read more

When i used to Live n San Diego myself and some friend would go there and plain in Tournaments and sometime just watch but it is a great place clean and you can always find somebody to play a good game of pool if you don't have a Partner. read more

Place is very nice. It has that pool hall ambiance you see in movies just with out the smoking. The music atmosphere is chill, there is a jukebox in corner where you have a large variety of music. :) The customer service is great. They are welcoming and will help you with anything you ask for. The pool tables are pretty nice. The speed of the ball isn't dragged as much as the crap tables you play elsewhere. The pool stick offered here decent and taken good care of. Food, beer, and soda is offered here. Its decent appetizers. Remember they are appetizers not DINNER so don't expect a five star meal! hehe. There is always a employee walking around checking to see if you are doing OK or would care for a drink or food. This is one of the best OVERALL pool halls I found in SD so far. This place is clean, has A/C, and you can purchased drinks as well. Only reason stopping me from giving it 5 stars is that it's pricey to go daily for most people. It was about 15 dollars an hour. BUT that's the price you pay for almost all pool places unless you go to a bar. Parking is a hit or miss but people usually leave that plaza at a steady rate (Kung fu tea is next door) so it's hasn't been bad for me. read more

Its a great pool hall an abundance of tables prices seem fair for the tables food on the other hand on the medium-high side. Some times the guy at the counter can be talkative or have a little attitude, but w/e just pay the man and he'll leave you be. Goods -Lots of space: There's gotta be like 10-15 pool tables there as well as a snooker table. It's actually quite big. -Good ambiance: they've got TV's with sports on, there's a jukebox and usually there's a lot of people around. There's a diverse crowd. Old, young, everyone's here to have a good time shooting the shots. -Inexpensive. Come here during the day and they got really low rates to play, and even during the night it aint that bad. -Service: The bartenders are super cool and once you go there a few times they treat you like a regular. I like that feeling! Improvement More fooooods! I know this is a little picky, but from a business standpoint, it makes sense. Decent hall with tons of the tables and beer. Can't ask for much more when it comes to pool in this area.

The pool tables are clean and the cue sticks are all good condition. They have a deal here with the beer stamp card. If you buy 5 glasses of beer, its only $10 dollars, which I think is a pretty sweet deal. The only reason why I give it 3 stars is because of the poor customer service. The last 3 times I've been here, the girls at the front desk are extremely rude. Other than that, it's a great place to shoot pool and hang out. Much better than College Billards read more

This place is always clean and smells clean. They have nice tables and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Have been here a few times and always have fun. I tend to go to Jolt'n Joes more often only because they have 2 levels, an outside sitting are and food and drinks but I prefer the pool tables at On Cue. read more

Great place, good tables and friendly workers. There Monday night handicap tournament is for "C" level and higher. The best from San Diego play here. Extremely high competition. Great place for me to go and watch great players. I sometimes drive from Encinitas to play ( get beat), but great fun. Players are nice about playing me "C" level player. Lower level handicap tournament with great tables in North County is PQ in Encinitas were I play most weeks. But it is definitely worth the drive to watch and learn. As a friendly pool player from out of town looking for cheap bet action, this place was better than I could've imagined. Met some really cool pool players, played cheap one pocket nine ball and even three cushion. Had a great time good prices too didn't get gouged on the pool time either. Definitely had a MUCH better feel than when I walked into college billiards about ten minutes away. Felt much safer here, overall a great room for pool players. Had a very good experience. All of the tables are in great condition. One of the only snooker tables in San Diego, this one definitely has the best felt, but bring your own cue. Beer + food a plus. Clean bathrooms. Take over the jukebox if you don't feel like hearing random crap. Prices are very fair. read more

This review has been long over due. On Cue is a place you can come to and receive a warm smile, cheep beer, and great food. The owner really cares about making sure this place is clean and well kept. It is one of the few places in San Diego that has full size regulation tables, tight pocket tables, a three cushion table, and the only snooker table I know of in San Diego. There is roughly 24 tables with ample room around them to make shooting as comfortable as possible. They have a tournament every Monday night open to all players with every skill level. It's $15 to play and 1st place can win as much as $400, not too shabby for a pool hall. They also hold parties at a very inexpensive rate. It would be a great place to throw a birthday party, or a bachelor party if your lady won't let you do the strip club thing ;) I've met some interesting characters here, but that's another appeal of this joint... It is certainly La Mesa's little gem. Also, if it bothers you that the place is only beer and wine, Hearth House is but a stone's throw away and you can get your liquor fix there and come right back. Hearth House is a glorified 7-11, but that's for another review. Bottom line: Swing by On Cue Billiards, even if you suck at pool, it is a great place to people watch and converse with some crazy characters :) read more

This is a good place to go for an evening of pool without having to deal with the "bros" out at Parkway Bowl. It's never busy inside which is nice for a low-key hang out, and there are plenty of tables to use in the event of a large party. The man behind the counter is never the nicest to "young kids" but I suppose someone before my generation had to ruin it for the rest of us. On Cue is pretty much the only "REAL" pool hall in San Diego. There's tons of action for those looking for it. Some of the best pool players in San Diego play here on a daily basis. Their Monday night 9-ball tourneys are good for those trying to gauge their skill levels. They use a handicapping system to help even the playing field for less skilled players. Even if your not a billiard buff you can still go and play around with friends, no problem. They have some good food specials, a bar with beer , and a jukebox. Since my favorite pool hall in north county shut down years ago, it's been hard to find a place with the right feel. I'd be there a lot more often if they were closer to where I live. This place fits the bill perfectly. Friendly staff, high quality tables (although the felt could be in a little better shape - loss of 1 star). Only drawback for me is I live in Oceanside, and this is a 40 mile drive one way. But that is also a testament to them. If I feel like playing, I'll do the 80 mile round trip to go here. They do have beer/wine and some "bar food". I had the combo special, cheese burger, fries and soda for 7.50 (price from memory - might not be exact, but it's close), Don't expect gourmet food - it's about what you would expect at that price point. But you don't go here for food, you go here to play pool. read more

This is a great place to go if you want to play some pool. they have lots of well maintained tables to choose from and it's pretty clean throughout (including the bathrooms). They even use a ball cleaning machine to keep the pool balls in good order (I hate playing pool at places where the balls are grungy). Their table fees seem to be pretty reasonable (and comparable to other pool halls in San Diego). They charge by the hour and per person, with discount rates for larger groups (I can't remember if the price break starts at groups of 3, or 4 or more). You can easily play for a couple of hours without putting too much hurt on the wallet. They have a medium-sized food menu and a lots of choices for beer on tap. The locals that frequent the place all seem to be pretty good folks. Clientele ranges from college age folks (It's not that far from SDSU) to seasoned pool veterans. I've never had any problems with the folks that work here. They are all courteous and don't hesitate to engage in conversation. My pool game may go up and down from night to night, but I always have a good experience when I play pool here. read more

This is always my first choice to go play pool. There are a lot of nice pool tables and I have never had to wait for one even on a weekend. I like it when I just to play some pool and not deal with loud obnoxious drunkards at some of the other usual places. Disappointing. I was looking to do the student discount on a Thursday night and it was totally dead when I walked in. There were two tables in use when I arrived and I'm assuming the owners had a match going at one, but I was there for 5 minutes wandering around because there was no one at the bar station/front or anyone even greeting me etc. Not exactly welcoming. Doubt I'll return since I've found Que Billiards to be closer although more expensive. read more
