I've been here twice now, one Sunday night we stayed until close and the other time we went Sunday during the day. The tables are nice. The night we went people were playing great music on the jukebox the whole time. The day we went we played $10 worth of songs and after that it was silent the rest of the time. That was a buzz kill. Finally, made it out here with the recommendation of a friend and he was right. This place had beautiful Brunswick tables that were well maintained and plenty to choose from - approximately 25 tables. They typically have great rates varying from $4-10/hour depending on day of the week and number of players. On Saturday, we dropped in around 10:00pm and they happened to have a yelp promotion and we got a 25% discount off of our total bill! Even better. So we only ended up paying $8.25 per hour for 3 to play on a SATURDAY! A few things to note: No bar but they DO serve beer. Small menu of food. Juke box which we didn't try. Good lighting and good space all around to play. Good choice of music which didn't seem too distracting or loud. Seems like a safe neighborhood. Although there were cop cars all around. No age restriction either. ( I was able to bring my 19 year old sister here. ) BEST pool hall we've been to in SD! Better check before we go next time in case there's a tournament. going on. I thought it would be to bring hubby in for his birthday with a few of his friends. We reserved a couple of table and were allowed an open tab for the night. Everyone had a blast! This is a decent place to hang out and shoot some pool. There's usually a table open, but at peak hours you might have to wait a bit. It dies down a bit as you get later into the evening. There's mainly gold crowns here, which personally aren't my favorite, but they play pretty well. There are some diamond barboxes as well, but I'd rather play on the 8' tables. There are a couple places where chairs are placed awkwardly, so if you don't claim the chairs near your table you'll be asking people to move all night. I haven't tried the bar/food, so I can't comment on that. read more

I use to come here almost every week. They place is usually busy with just a couple tables available. The cost isn't that high, compared to Dave & Busters which is double the price. Great place. Friendly staff. Sometimes on a Friday someone's gonna pop off or drink too much and cause a fight. Nothing too scary though. Good table rates. Cheap beer. Cheap apps - nothing fancy. Just fried stuff. Who cares. I like the tables. They are much newer and nicer than say, the Hungry Stick. Their tables are 45 years old! OnCue is in much better shape. Tables will get occupied on a friday or saturday by 10pm. Monday night is tournament night. Any other time during the day or week you are guaranteed a table. check it out. read more

I don't have vast amounts of pool hall experience and from the outside this place looks pretty sketchy, so I was slightly apprehensive about going here with my friend. But I was pleasantly surprised there was nothing creepy about it and the juke box even had Taylor Swift which I found amusing. Tuesday's and Thursday's are 50% off student night (I'm pretty sure) so that was a great deal. The only downside was the first few pool cues we tried using were super worn down but other than that I had a lot of fun. read more

This is the ONLY real poolroom in San Diego. All Gold Crowns with Simonis. 4 tight tables with 4 inch pockets. They have a billiard table and a 6 by 12 snooker table. If you are novice pool players looking for a relaxed fun place to play a few games at a reasonable price, have a few beers, and listen to the jukebox this is a great spot for you and your friends. On Cue is an awesome place if you are a dedicated pol player. There is plenty of good competition and they are not there to hustle you...although I bet they would be willing to if you let them. A great first impression is the snooker table when you walk in. The place has the feel of the old poolroom I grew up in. The place is very clean the lighting is fantastic. People are friendly and willing to chat. You can find a player your speed and they most likely wil;l play a friendly game. There are some highly skilled players so if you don't mind loosing until you figure it out, you will improve your game. The Monday night tournament is fun to weatch and people come from as far as Orange County to play, it is that well,known. At first I was a little skeptical about the quality of pool being played at On Cue. However, I was sadly mistaken. The tables are good quality, probably better than 95% of all the San Diego pool halls. The level of play at On Cue is astounding, various professionals play at On Cue and I was quite surprised to see a few of them. Ga Young Kim was one who I ran into and boy was it a pleasure, but the real treat was playing a couple games of 9-ball with the young Joseph R, he has just been dominating the UK/Canadian pool scene and he's only 18 or 19, that's what has vexed me about On Cue. I am also eager to try out their Monday night tournaments. All in all, this place is full of surprises, cheap rates with quality tables, friendly management, and quality players, nothing better than that folks. read more

My go-to place was Society in PB for their prices and food, but their tables were crap. I've always noticed On Cue Billiards every time I'm in the La Mesa area, but I've never been until about 2 years ago, and now I find myself in here almost every weekend practicing and playing with friends and family. Haven't been to Society since then and I would never go back. I just wish On Cue had a better beer selection, but I always get Sierra Nevada as my beer of choice every time I go there. I could understand their food selection is limited considering they don't have a real kitchen, so that doesn't bother me. Their location is great, right next door to a billiards shop where my brother got his cue tip repaired and there conveniently located in a quiet area. The staff here are chill and always checks on us if we need a refill on beer. There are a lot of locals that go here almost every day of the week, and they have league nights and tournaments, but I've noticed they don't bother the non-locals, and the non-locals don't bother the locals. Let me start by saying LOVE this place to play. The tables are amazing and there is so much room to where i dont feel cramped. ive ordered food a few times and its alright nothing special there are these new cinnamon pretzels that are great tho whos ever idea that was props to them because i can see them generating tons of profit. the music they play is from a jukebox so u can basically pick and choose i wish they would turn it up tho. they have such a variety!!!! ive seen the owner there a few times he seems to know how to run a business properly. the bathrooms are well kept for the most part and the specials they have are pretty cool. the girls that work there are fun, i think i have met all of them ony having 4 girls there makes it pretty easy to get to know who is serving u. i dont recall the blonde girls name but she seemed to be very rude not only to me but to the other girl that was working with her. i was very surprised. she seemed to be ver flustered and preoccupied with whats going on in her life and not the costumers. i do recommend this place for dates, tournaments or just to have fun read more
