Paneer sando with peri peri fries
    Ashley J.

A really unique concept and delicious food! It did seem a little bit pricey for food truck food, my meal was $20, but my sandwich was yummy and it was a fun experience. Food came out pretty quickly but it was definitely fresh. There's a cute seating area between the food trucks so plenty of place to sit and enjoy in person or you could do take out.

Omgggg I am obsessed with these nuggets. To be clear I am not a boneless wing girly so I was not sure how I would feel. However, these nuggets are delicious. Got them in the street Szechuan and loved it. Would maybe go up a spice level next time because these weren't as spicy as I expected. Boyfriend got the sando with peri peri which was also yummy. Not a huge fan of the tikka fries but I'd try a different type next time.

Chicken is crispy and super flavorful. I thought the street schezwan was pretty good and the bhenncchoo was super spicy. I enjoyed the yogurt sauce and wished I got to try their tikka sauce but they ran out. I thought the fries were alright, they could be crispier and they were also a bit soggy even though we were eating them fresh/right when it came out. You should get there before they close because they start running out of things around 8-8:30. It was about a 30 min wait for 2 orders of nuggets and 2 sandwiches at 7:45 pm.

This place was brand new to me - my date recommended it and I'd never heard of it so went for it. It's inside a little food area next to a parking lot so there are spots there or on the street. There are lots of little tables outside where you can eat too which is nice. On to the food - I was actually really blown away by how delicious it was! They have different ways of preparing the chicken and different marinades. I got the mid spicy one on "chicken nuggets" which came fried with bay leaves. It seemed simple but OMG the flavor of this chicken was BOMB -- soooo flavorful and the sauces eg chipotle were fantastic. My date got a fried chicken sandwich and said it was also incredible, it looked like it! The workers told us they are new and won an award recently for being a great Austin food truck spot. Can confirm they're worth that hype -- seriously I would come here again any time. Really love the chicken

Stopped by Guppy's on a weekend trip to Austin. The food was great (slightly preferred the burger to the nuggets) though less spicy than expected. Would suggest anyone who loves spice get their spiciest flavor. There was an unfortunately long wait, so I'd say be careful if tight on time. Raj was super friendly and made our experience a great one. Would definitely come back!

100% recommend. Really flavorful and delicious sandwich and bites. So much food for the price. The duck fat fries were rich and tasty. Wonderful head level for the Szechuan on the sandwich and periperi on the bites. Friendly staff and some covered seating. Will definitely be back to try more flavors.

Chicken sando (kashmiri chili) was stunning, truly perfectly cooked. Incredibly juicy with the crispiest exterior you've ever tasted, technique was true perfection. Mango yogurt drink also very very tasty. Fries were very underwhelming and left alot to be desired, a bit soggy from the sauce and not super flavorful. Nevertheless, the sandwich alone and drink are enough to get this into the low 5 star range! And reasonable prices too! Small outdoor seating area by the food trucks, and close to neighboring bar for more fans and seating! Good experience

We had a fairly decent experience at Guppy's. Everything was priced well and we received friendly service. However the food itself didn't hit the mark. It wasn't bad just underwhelming. It didn't have those bold, layered flavors you would typically find in Indian cuisine. We tried their third highest spice level "Honey Badger" and It barely registered as spicy. If you enjoy heat I would jump higher on the list. We also tried their garlic duck fat fries, which were seasoned extremely well. To the point you couldn't enjoy them. Extremely salty, I'm not one to hate on salt but they went overboard. I don't think that's the norm could have just been a slip on their part.

That moment you meet a legend‼ Outside of technology, that's chefs for me‼ Chef Raj of Guppys ATX has created the best fried chicken concoction I've ever consumed! His Indian style blend of spices was perfection across every single bite. If I wasn't on Tirzepatide I would have downed at least three of these back to back. Yes! They're that good! Trust me, if I'm posting about it, I would go back again, & it means so should you. That's not all! It warms my heart when I get the chance to meet the creator in the kitchen for these feasts. That job is never easy, & let's face it, most of us are demanding pains in the ass. Also feasts are one of the best ways to evaluate friends, especially those being considered for wifey material. How a person treats the staff at a restaurant can be a great indicator of red flags. I've watched someone drill the waiter for 30 minutes about all her fictional self-diagnosed conditions as the group sat there in amazement. Before the lovely waiter walked away I caught her attention and tossed my prayer hands, then raised the tip to 30% at the end. That same person took home all the left overs. I guess the "allergies" were real... Right. That was the last time she was ever invited. The moral of this story! Always appreciate the folks working their ass off to take care of you. No exceptions! The job isn't easy. It takes sweat, guts, and patience. There's no need to add complexity or be entitled.

Went here with a couple friends to try. It's a little bit tucked away in the back so not with the other food trucks nearby. It's right next to the zucchini kill bakery. It's all fusion of Indian street flavors meet spicy fried chicken. I got the street Szechuan sando, garlic duck fat fries, and a mango lassi. The flavors worked really well together and the chicken was nice and juicy. The mango lassi creamy and the duck fat an extra edge to the fries. Service was great and the guy who runs it was really helpful in deciding what to get and making you feel welcome. Since it's inside another outdoor bar there is a lot of outdoor seating so great to hang out when the weather isn't super cold. I will say this had lots of sauce so things soaked in pretty quickly. Definitely eat when you get it and don't let it sit too long before tasting otherwise you may have some soggy bread. 10/10 recommend getting nice and fresh!

Both times, the food has been spectacular, the service off the page, and the atmosphere and ambiance magnificent. We tried three mezzes last night, and each was killer. The hummus was the smoothest I've ever eaten and with the brisket, it was killer! We tried the whipped feta with pistachios, and it was special -- salty/sweet and a little something special to make you wonder just what the spice was. The lamb & beef keftas were also excellent, with the lemon rice and a nice tsadziki -- and we make keftas at home fairly regularly, so we know what a good one tastes like. The only regret that we had was that we only have one stomach each. A second would have allowed us to keep tasting... Don't miss it. Even the patio dining was cool and refreshing -- and it was 86º when we were eating dinner!

Music Lane is a beautiful area with corridors bustling with fresh air, which greatly contrasts the area not too far south of it. Aba lies within these corridors, so I was completely gobsmacked to see the size of the establishment and its number of seating. There are outdoor tables, a dedicated bar section, a decently large interior, and patio and sofa seats for the people waiting. Even then, the place was completely packed, so getting a reservation is an absolute must. Not only are the prices completely reasonable, the food itself had everything that I was looking for: a delicious spread starter, a balanced fiber dish, and an entree with intentional flavors and texture. The Short Rib Hummus is a must get! It is incredibly filling and completely worth the price. The short rib was a nice meat protein since I opted for a seafood main, and the pita bread that it came with was lightly seasoned and was as fluffy as it could possibly be. I could not eat much of my Brussel Sprouts because it was also very large. However it was not too oily or drenched, and each bite had a perfect light crunch, which is the standard for Fried Brussels Sprouts. Top it all off, the Grilled Branzino was the finisher to my savory dishes. The grill gave the fish a roasted flavor, which was complimented by the sweetness from the corn purée. The various greens, roasted tomatoes, and corn pieces themselves added bites of textures and secondary bursts of flavor. I can see why it took a month in advanced to book a decent time at Aba Austin. The atmosphere was so perfect because the air flows through all the doors and windows, allowing the diners to enjoy fresh oxygen. This place is a must visit, both as an experience and a meal that is WORTH the bill.

Loro is an Asian smokehouse and bar featuring grilled and smoked meats with Southeast Asian and Japanese-inspired sauces, sides, and a bar that boasts craft beer, boozy slushees, and batch cocktails. Parking at this location is a bit of a challenge. They have overflow parking in the back but the spots are really small. We sat at the bar area and worked our way through cocktails, apps, and dessert. We opened a tab and the bar staff takes your order which is convenient, versus how you normally have to order by waiting in line at the bar. The bar staff was extremely busy because they have to make all the cocktails and take the line orders at the bar. They are a master of multitasking. It was $3 martini night on Tuesday, so was excited to sample the four different drink options. lychee martini, Mexican martini, and Lucky Cat cosmo martini. Lychee martini is made with new amsterdam vodka, sake, elderflower, Mexican martini with espolon blanco, olive, yuzu, lime and cosmo with vodka, blood orange, naranja, lime. The lychee was hands down my favorite of the three. We started with the Dip Sampler that included a trifecta of smoked shishito queso, smoked salmon dip and Thai green salsa with the Siete blue corn tortilla chips. We went through the chips quickly and got a second round of wonton chips which I preferred to the Siete chips. Tried the Mango Chamoy frozen Slushee with Siete Chamoy Botana Sauce & Siete Chile Lime Seasoning Rim, passionfruit, Aperol, Sake and Sparkling Wine which was refreshing. All their boozy slushies are $5 during happy hour. Ordered the oak grilled edamame from the happy hour menu and it was a flavor explosion with a dusting of serracha powder, lemon zest and white sesame. For dinner, I ordered my go-to rice bowl with coconut-scented rice, seasonal pickles, thai herbs and steak as the protein. They normally served this with Bavette, but the steak was a bit tough and chewy this time. Finished everything off with cheesecake with five spice crumble, yuzu marmalade for dessert. The vibe at the bar was relaxed and lively without feeling overwhelming, and the collab menu felt creative without trying too hard. The ingredients are very thoughtful for a fully developed flavor profile. Just what I would expect from the culinary minds of Tyson Cole and Aaron Franklin. Definitely one of the regulars in my list when craving good cocktails with a casual but elevated food menu.

All of the dishes were a little bit on the saucy side and a little bit salty but good overall. As a recipient of the prestigious Texas Monthly Top 100 BBQ Award, the expectations were high--and for the most part, they were met. The venue itself provides a fantastic, relaxed vibe, complete with plenty of TVs and a music stage, making it the perfect spot for chilling out on a lazy afternoon or settling in for an evening hang. The Main Event: Pitmaster Excellence The true test of a Texas BBQ joint is the holy trinity, and here, they nailed the fundamentals: * Brisket: This was Texas BBQ as it should be. The brisket was super juicy, delivered a profound, deep flavor, and possessed a flawless, great bark that spoke to hours of skillful smoking * Spare Ribs: A study in contrast and texture. The ribs offered a satisfying "good pull"--firm enough to bite but still falling cleanly off the bone. The thick, peppery bark was beautifully balanced by a slight sweetness from a pepper jelly glaze, adding a layer of sophisticated flavor you don't always find. * Pork Belly Burnt Ends: These were pure decadence. Each bite provided a delicious, melt-in-your-mouth experience with a distinct and welcome hint of Fierce Whiskers bourbon woven into the smoky, fatty flavor. They are so rich and irresistible, you know you shouldn't eat too many, but good luck stopping. * Jalapeño and Cheese Sausage: This locally sourced link brought the heat with a good level of spice. The flavor was excellent, though the texture leaned slightly toward the processed side, which was the only minor drawback among the meats. The Supporting Cast: Sides A great plate of BBQ requires sides that stand up to the meat, and while two of these were stars, one needs a little work. * Mac & Cheese: An absolute winner. It was cheesy, creamy, and featured an excellent smoked flavor that permeated the dish. The slightly charred edges added a delightful textural counterpoint. * Hash Brown Casserole: This was a surprisingly strong contender, offering a nice assembly of savory flavors. The secret weapon was the corn flake topping, providing an unexpected but welcome crunch, complemented by a satisfying hint of bacon. * Creamed Corn: Unfortunately, this side was the weakest link. It tasted primarily bland, despite a slight peppery note. It desperately needs some fresh jalapeños mixed in to cut through the creaminess and add the essential Texas kick. Final Verdict The meat selection here is truly Top 100 worthy, excelling in technique, flavor, and execution (especially the Brisket and Burnt Ends). The atmosphere is perfect for a relaxed gathering. While the Creamed Corn missed the mark, the stellar Hash Brown Casserole and Smoked Mac & Cheese prove that their side game is usually strong. Come for the high-quality, authentic Texas barbecue, stay for the great outdoor patio.
