I honestly love the company itself but not the employees. Loud gossiping consistently when assisting a customer. I was told 5 1/2 hours for my stuff to be gone through. I came back after 3 hours because I have a long drive back home and came here as an errand for the day. Nothing was touched. On top of that 4 employees all leave for a lunch at the same time. The same ones when I dropped everything off and still nothing touched. I went to this location a few years back hoping to give it another chance but in all honesty it's not worth it. Very messy and cluttered and just a waste of time. Especially if you drive two hours to come here. Hopefully thé also move the smoking designation area; right in front of the store is lovely especially when pregnant. read more

I normally have nothing but good things to say about once upon a child however over this past weekend I was very disappointed in their customer service. I came into the store with a stroller 2 babies age 1 and 2 and a bag of clothing I wanted to sale to the store. As soon I got in the store the representative asked me if I was there to sale my items which was obviously I came in with a big bag, then she asked me if I've sold to them before, I said yes then she proceeds to say well we are no longer taking items in a black bag they have to be in baskets or boxes laid out. I told her I wasn't aware of that change and I just sold to the new one on Marconi last week and they didn't have a problem with the bags she said well it's the policy for all stores. I told her I just drove out my way I have 2 babies with me could she make an exception. They said no. I literally had to put my babies back in the car drive to Walmart purchase 2 laundry baskets go back and do it all Over again all for $22. Mind you I sold them 3 brand new pairs of shoes 1 pair of youth huaraches, 1 pair of infant Foams (Nike) and brand new pair of infant Jordan's 13s. As a company they should at least have a sign on the door advising their customers of the new policy. Or at least tell people who call to inquire of the no black bag policy I literally called that morning and they did not mention this. read more

This place basically stole 2 hampers of clean folded baby/toddler clothes I brought in. I came in, gave all my info, they said it could be ready the next day so I came back the next day and according the text message I got sent, it said come in before closing at 6:45 so I trusted that and went in at 6:15, and apparently they closed at 6pm that day so a young man that worked there told me "sorry we're closed but don't worry just come in tomorrow", long story short I came in ONLY 2 days later and my clothes were gone, no record of my Information and they essentially stole everything. I understand I should have come back that next day or called in to touch base but to take everything and tell me sorry it's gone have a nice day? I saw my kids clothes hanging in the Isle... like come on at least for the miscommunication and confusion give me store credit??? I obviously tried to come pick up my clothes TWICE. Not only do I live far away and I had my 3 kids with me, but I'm also one unhappy customer and will never sell to any Once upon a child again, every location is shitty. read more

I wasn't going to post this, but the owner takes it upon herself to delete all "negative" posts on the Facebook page. The customer service at this place is horrendous. In the 10 minutes I was there, 3 people left very angry, due to how disrespectful the employees are. There are several other locations very near by, and they are all independently owned. Why in the freaking world would you be ok with this?? I asked for information on a item, and the ridiculous girl working the register said "I don't have time to answer questions, we are short staffed. Are you buying something or not". They pay the lowest dollar on products, of all the locations, which I'm not bothered by IF CUSTOMER SERVICE DIDN'T SUCK. And the place is filthy and disorganized. Multiple occasions of my patronizing this location have been met with a complete lack of professionalism at the very least, regarding interaction/treatment of customers, myself included. Went to take my bin of clothes here to sell and they told me it was going to be a 4 hr wait. I told them I couldn't wait that long since I didn't live in the area. The owner Sarah said she wanted to "make me happy" so i can pick up my clothes the next day. She informed the worker who checked me in to make a note i would be picking up the next day. The next day i had my husband go back to the store to pick up the remaining items. They had told him they didn't have a "buy in" under my name. They said there would be a check mark or a circle if they processed it. Well, they ended up not even checking in my bin and it just sat there. I asked to speak to the manager Sheena and she offered to check my items right away and give me a 20% off coupon. I told her my husband wasn't going to wait again and i will no longer take my items there again. The fact that i drove all the way there willing to leave my items per owners request and not get anything out of it, was just very inconvenient! read more

Ok I'm giving two stars for BUYING ONLY. They usually have a decent amount of options which is great if you need something for your kids quick. I've bought lots of things from this location as well as the roseville one. Yesterday I went to sell with 3 huge bags of clothes and was not even all the way in the door with my two kids when I was turned away for the items being in plastic bags and not regular bags + THEY ARE NOT TAKING ANYTHING 6months and under (I had newborn - 3T in my bags). Ok... so I went to my car and sorted through everything putting the rest of my items in regular bags that I had in my trunk. When I went back in I filled out the form and asked if I would receive a text after they were done (they've texted me before and even took my phone number down on the form I filled out) but was rudely answered with "we don't do that". Ok... so now I'm annoyed because the staff is rude and I can't even get through the store due to the employees leaving their sorting bins and bags all over the floors and in the walkways. I left my items and went to waste some time until they were done. When I got back to pick up my items and cash I again couldn't even get to the register because the employees had their sorting going on all over the sales floor. I literally could not push my stroller to the register 5 feet away and the staff wouldn't help me get through by moving their stuff. When I finally made it to the register they said THEY DIDN'T HAVE MY NAME?!? The lady was rude and said to me "is it under something else because there's no one here with the name" then she said "oh jk it had your last name first" ........ Ok. I took my little bit of cash and the rest of my items and left to the goodwill .2 miles away where the men came out to my car with a cart and loaded it themselves (so helpful and friendly). Honestly... it's not even worth selling with this location. They underpay you and give you horrible customer service. Sell to roseville or Marconi or just donate it to somewhere. If you want to shop then you're fine I've never had any issues with any of the locations for shopping. read more

Recently visited this location and was FLOORED by how great it was! Every other OUAC I've been to has been a bust ESPECIALLY the one closest to me (Elk Grove). The employees were kind, respectful, and attentive. The store was clean, very well organized, and had an amazing selection. Lots of good brands with great prices. I saw Posh Peanut, Quincy Mae, Zara, Lulu & Roo, Kate Quinn, H&M, Rylee & Cru, and others during my short trip. I didn't encounter a single stain, either, again unlike my numerous other visits at different locations. Even though it's a considerable drive, this is the ONLY location I will be going to from now on. read more

I just had a baby a month ago and wanted to sell some clothes. I mentioned it was my first time there and no instructions given, nor a run down of how selling works. I was handed a piece of paper and told it was going to be 20mins. I look around and wait. Notice about 4-5 employees there, but only 2 seem to be working. I go up to the register and ask about the wait to be asked if I signed in and which bin was mine. I left after that. People need more training here on customer service. Love this place!! My son is growing like a weed and is in constant need of the next size. I'm not a cheap person but I HATE buying new stuff that he's going to outgrow in a couple of weeks. Here I'm able to shop for all seasons for 70% of the price and not feel bad when my son grows out of it. You're also able to turn in worn/used clothes and they pay you for them. Owner is extremely rude! I only knew it was her because of her fb videos where you can also see that she never lets her employees finish whatever they are saying. I have been going there for almost 2 years and never had a problem, employees have always been very nice and the only time I have seen the owner there was my last visit to this location, I will rather drive all the way to Roseville than leave my money here! This place is absolutely amazing with the customer service that they provide they go above and beyond what is expected. every single employee is kind hearted and goes out of their way. Also you can sell your children's gently used clothing to them and they actually pay you pretty well for stuff. also, they have year-round clothing for every age which is so amazing and it's priced so fair. It's unbelievable. I definitely recommend this place. They are the best. Me and my daughters love to shop here. There's so much different unique items for them to choose from. When they shop here they're able to pick out things they absolutely love, and I know not every single child is going to have the same thing. read more

I used to buy and sell here all the time. We had not been in awhile, and while we were away they changed the store policy that you cannot bring items you are selling in plastic bags. They HAVE to be in totes or bins. I showed up there with hundreds of dollars worth of name brand clothing in excellent condition -- some still with tags on them. I planned to sell them myself, but didn't have time and needed the space. I was turned away before I stepped into the store because of my plastic bags. I politely said I did not know about the change and asked if I could still do my sale this time and I'll bring them in a bin next time. They told me no and that they have had the sign on the door for a month. Okay well sorry... I haven't been in there in awhile. I got both my kids loaded up and all my stuff to sell and drove down there to be turned away by RUDE employees. I had only been back two times since this happened. I was there the other day shopping and I was standing a few aisles over, in the back from the toy section where my son was playing with the toys. I had a few items I planned to purchase with me. I was told by an employee that if my son wants to play with the toys that I must stand there and supervise him. They used to have a designated play area (like all other Once Upon a Childs). but no longer provide that. If you don't want kids playing with the toys then DON'T PUT THEM AT KID LEVEL. I don't come there to supervise my child while they play with toys I don't intend to buy. I come there to buy second-hand clothes, which I can't due if I have to supervise him in the toy area the entire time. Sooo.... I put my stuff back and left. They have lose my business forever. They can put up a sign that says, "no food or drinks" but not take the time to put up a "no dogs allowed sign". Today, I was told I couldn't be there with my 6 lbs well behaved maltipoo while I had $100s worth of baby clothes in my hands for my babygirl that's due soon. I graciously left the place and went next door to Marshall's and found items for similar prices that I would have paid for "used". Horrible customer service. Purchased two different sizes of snow boots and asked before purchase if they could be returned. Sales associate said yes within 7 days. Came to return the once's that didn't fit two days later and the manager said they can't be returned because they are final sale. She said it was on the receipt, which is was, but I specifically asked the sales associate if I would return them. I should have known something like this would happen as the sales associate was also too busy chatting with her co-worker to even great me when I checked out. Lost my business for sure. read more

Today's story was about the girl who is slow at buys on the night shift and the girl working was talking smack about her being slow and her in a rush to leave. Love the selection and prices! The only problem for me is they do not enforce masks during this pandemic... the employees wear them but the shoppers are not required!! It is a small shop and not much air circulating.. there was a lady and her son who were both sneezing! The isles are way too narrow and I literally walked back versus walking right into her cloud of droplets!! Luckily I had a mask but what about our little ones under 2 years who cannot wear one? Overpriced considering it's a second hand shop. For the price you pay for a "used" article of clothing you could go to Walmart and purchase something brand new for a comparable amount of money- a lot of times also due to wear and care of the item (including how it's been laundered) will shrink some clothes in a weird way so you think you're buying a 2T but then find out it fits more like an 18 month outfit. Beware sellers: I didn't ever get handed cash on the spot for items of ours that they "purchased", I got a credit to my account then no one told me you either use it in 30 days or you lose it. Been "selling" at once upon a child for over a year now and not seen a dime of the money. There is no link to submit feedback on their website either. I'd recommend avoiding selling or buying here, Facebook marketplace is the way to go, cuts out the middle man and everyone is happier. read more

I couldn't go there before 6, and I assume since they are open till 8, they are accepting items. But no, they said we are not accepting things. I've tried to sell brand new items and have had them refused due to being "too worn". I actually saw one family being in tubs of stuff and the ladies didn't even open it. I went in to look for a few items I needed for my child. I walked in and there were several employees at the front of the store. I was never greeted and never asked if I needed help finding anything. They were very chatty amongst one another though. The part that really bothered me was when I was ready to check out, the employee behind the counter was coughing, wiping her runny nose, and looked overall terrible. She said a couple times that her "allergies were killing her" and continued to ring me up. Allergies or not, she should not be the employee ringing customers up with the symptoms that she had, and honestly she shouldn't be at work. We are in the middle of a pandemic and I'm very concerned that her symptoms could be more than allergies. I am now concerned that not just me, but anyone who came into contact with her could have been exposed to her sickness. read more

Would not recommend taking anything here. Was told by family they were a waste of time but still wanted to give it a shot. It was my first time here and they watched my 8 month pregnant self drag in 3 LARGE boxes of baby clothes, no greeting just and stared at me until I engaged first. When I started talking to her she was dismissive, had attitude in her tone and barely engaged. Another one told me to sign in, handed me a different small paper for my address and number and while I filled these out I proceeded to ask questions and she half ass answered all of them. AND just happened to not include the fact that I needed to check in same day to see if they were done sorting through everything, come back and pick what they didn't want and any money I got for my sell. Instead they expect you to see it on the very tippy top of the sign in sheet as if that's an appropriate place to put instructions, or the door, or the fucking wall. No procedure of the trade was offered at all. She told me 2.5-3 hours and to have a nice day. And so I left and I waited, light weight expecting a call and got nothing. So I call this morning and they were so glad to tell me that since I didn't come back to check on it yesterday then I got store credit, and proceeded to tell me that I should have noticed it on their lousy sign in sheet or again the front door. Basically a huge waste of my time, no common courtesy for expecting mothers or families like they preach and completely disrespectful employees. Trash. read more

Today was tote bag Tuesday. I brought my personal tote, but was told it wasn't valid for the 20% discount because it wasn't a store bag and I had to buy one of their bags to receive said discount. The text that I received made no mention of this, just bring my own tote. This was also after I watched a woman receive the 20% discount for not even using any bag and carrying about 6 items out by hand. I don't really consign with them, But the few times I have I felt like they were fair. I love the store even more because 1) my children grow out of things so fast and I hate paying full price. I am so beyond angry with this store! I absolutely love once upon a child and now I do not ever want to come to this location. When you drop off clothes there is always an issue if you do not come back that day and confirm they did their job and entered it in correctly. Last Saturday I dropped off another big box of clothes last Saturday. Mind you, almost half of them were new. I went in today and their was apparently no record of my drop off. So according to the manager they did not take any of the clothes I brought in and they were all donated. I have never had an issue before with them not taking my clothes. I have a 17 month old boy who has out grown his clothes faster than expected so this is a great place to get a few one piece items like pants and tees or even onsies without spending a fortune. I've never experienced poor customer service to speak of. I've asked questions and they've been answered in a cordial manner. Although I feel some items are too overpriced for being in used condition. I brought clothes in for the first time today. I was disappointed. The clothes I brought in were barely worn, some never worn and a few items still in very good condition. They said the items that were new and never used were "lightly stained and loved too much". While I didn't expect a large amount of money for the items, they were still worth taking. And most were summer items too. I'm really not sure what they judge items on but pretty sure it isn't a fair system or any base for it anyway. How can something never even worn or taken out of the closet have stains or wear and tear? I will still shop here the once every 3 or 4 months I go but I will save my efforts and use FB marketplace next time. read more

I gave this store a 2 star ONLY because The cashier was friendly. Everything about this store is CRAP! I brought in a bouncer & a bag full of clothing there was a 2 & a half hour wait. I do NOT trust the idea of leaving my baby clothing btw. I went in today to find two staff wearing their masks pulled under their nose and mouth, basically covering their chin.

If i could make this a 0 star review i would. I've had one of the worst experience I've ever had in retail. I've been coming to this location for over 3 years for my first daughter and have spent hundreds of dollars here. Last week we purchased some sleepwear for my new daughter who is 4 months old. They're have their 3 month clothing marked for 3-6 months, and told me this is how they do it. Which makes absolutely 0 sense since my daughter can't wear any of these items because guess what they're 3 month clothing and too small for a 4 month old. Their logic is that a 2 month old would look for a 3-6 month clothing. YES because they're 2 months old and you have your clothes marked for a 3 month old, which still makes 0 sense, and every other children clothing store does not mark their clothes this way because 3 month is different than 3-6 month old clothing. So that's strike one. Strike two came when we brought the items back and they could only return the 4 items we had a tag for...ok fine we get it. So we find 4 items to swap, they then run the exchange process and say we owe them $4.50. Wait what?! The items are the same price at $3.50 each. They said because they were paid for originally with a discount they can't honor that for an exchange. When i confronted them about this they said no store ever swaps the same like for like item of the same price. EVERY OTHER STORE DOES THIS!!! Last and final strike was the person who was doing the exchange gave us so my f***ing attitude because we were upset with how backwards their entire process of marking clothes size are and now we're not only losing items but they're charging us for for items that should have been an easy enough swap! When she told us the price would be $4.50 we said instead we would only get 3 items because obviously were were not expecting to pay. She took an item off, and when i said "did i ask you to remove a piece of clothing? I'm spending the money we can decide which price to remove." She rolled her eyes at me. I will never shop at this location ever again and i will tell all of my parents friends to never visit this location. read more

If you are concerned about your child or babies safety from Covid don't go into this store. The staff doesn't wear masks and when I was checking out the cashier was coughing all over my things without covering her mouth. She said she was unvaccinated but never gets sick, that she was only coughing from smoking. I've never written a negative review and in fact I love Once Upon a Child but I will not shop here again until the pandemic is over, due to the lack of concern for virtually every child who the items in the store are meant for who cannot be vaccinated, for babies who can't even be masked, and for vulnerable adults.
