Recently checked out one six three on our area pizza tour. I'd give them a 3.5. We started with the fried cheese curds. They are life! My BF loved these. They were so good! I had a small pizza with chicken cutlet and roasted peppers and my boyfriend had a small cheese. The pizza was good, but very floppy (prob could have spent more time in the oven) and my bf's pizza got stuck to the box. One lunch, one dinner, and I am totally in love! We were the only ones dining in at 2pm on a weekday, and the service was pretty fast. We started off with the cheese curds, which were really crispy for the most part despite having turned into a bit of a giant blob at the end. They came with ranch and marinara. Then we got The Goat-- super interesting flavor combination that was definitely even more pronounced when we ate it for leftovers the next day. The jam on top does make the overall taste of the pizza sweet despite the savory asparagus. We came back a few days later for dinner and outside was packed which made service much slower, but the Shrimp Florentine was buttery and seafood-y and perfect. If you had a bigger group and wanted to order two contrasting pies, this and the Goat would be perfect. The fried Oreos came out much later than expected, but they were so delicious and fried to perfection that we didn't care! Our server even said they were his favorite thing on the menu. I don't usually give out three stars, but this place earned it. I visited One 6 Three with a few of my students to celebrate their induction into an honor society at Yale University. Being from California, this was each of their first times to the east coast and New Haven in particular. We decided to go to One 6 Three based on its yelp reviews - and I'm sad to say that neither the food nor the service lived up to the hype. When we asked for a table we were told it'd take 15-20 minutes even though it would've been possible to seat us if they did not seat a couple in between two tables making it impossible to seat a table of four. So, we were told to sit at the bar, which was a 5-10 minute wait since the ONLY two people at the 10-seater bar were on their way out. We forced our way into the seats at the bar anyway. We each ordered a personal pizza. One person in our party took a bit longer to choose her pizza - that's an important detail for later. I ordered the 10" Hannibal (toppings include pepperonis, bacon, sausage, etc). It came out in about 10 minutes. The pizza was 'meh' at best. Wasn't really flavorful. The sauce was just ok. The bake was alright, but overall I've had better Neapolitan pizzas. I was about 2/3 of the way through my pizza when I realized that one of the people in our party didn't receive her pizza. It wasn't until each of us were done with ours that she finally received hers. It did take her a little while longer to order her pizza, but all of ours should've came out at once since we were together. read more

I have a feeling this might become my new favorite pizza place here in New Haven... I went here on a Saturday afternoon (around 2pm) so it was not crowded at all. The inside is very clean and there's also a community garden outside, which I thought was so cute. We were able to seat ourselves at any table and the servers were nice enough to immediately offer us water. They let us take plenty of time to look over the menu before we ordered. We ordered the A&A pizza and the Fungus Among Us pizza. Both were out of this world. The A&A pizza had chicken and bacon and was drizzled in this amazing house aioli. It was the perfect type of pizza. The Fungus Among Us pizza was delicious on another level. It had a very strong truffle flavor. The two pizzas complemented each other and it was great being able to switch off what slice to each. One 6 Three is definitely the spot to go to if you want wild topping combinations that actually taste good! I will definitely go again to try the other types of pizza. read more

First off, my husband's pizza was a 10. He said it was absolutely delicious. However, if you have a gluten allergy, don't get their gluten free pizza. The sauce and cheese and toppings are all heavily contaminated--like comically so. I didn't realize that until after I'd ordered and was too embarrassed to try to cancel my order. I'm now terribly sick--my fault not theirs. If you have a serious allergy/celiacs, their salads and brussels sprouts looked killer, and they're made on the other side of the kitchen. read more

Still hands down my favorite pizza in New Haven. We were excited to finally eat there in person this week (after months of take-out) and went at 8pm. Their website listed closing at 10pm, and Google listed 9pm, but we were ousted pretty much upon arrival. Alas, another take-out experience. It's not bad. I ordered here while I was vacationing in Connecticut. It's satisfying when it's cold out and you just want something that will fill you up, is comforting, inexpensive, and convenient. I ordered the chicken parm sandwich with a little less mozzarella cheese. It was a good sized sandwich and (for me at least) it was good enough to substitute for my dinner. There was a good amount of chicken and just enough cheese. I just wish there was more marinara sauce because the bread absorbed a lot of the sauce. This place is consistent the past 5+ times we've been here. Amazing. We love all of their pizzas; Breaking my Meatballs, the Moots, and the Rob are solid choices. My personal favorites are the White Clam and the Shrimp Florentine. These are so good. I'm the only idiot I know with a shellfish allergy who continues to eat it (yes yes I call it my own exposure therapy) but I don't get much of a reaction to the shrimp here which means it's FRESH so yessss. They do not skimp on the toppings either. It's thin crust New Haven style at its best. The three standout appetizers are pig candy (ALWAYS get this; only available if you call and place your order, it's not on their online ordering because it sells out fast), cheese curds, and poutine. The pig candy is candied bacon but it's not crispy!! It's this tender, sweet and salty slice of thick cut bacon that is totally drool worthy. I take bites of this with my pizza... wish I could recreate it. Cheese curds threw me for a loop because I thought it was only a Canadian thing, and deep fried they are delicious and come with two dipping sauces. Okay and the poutine? Really you can eat this as a meal. Okay two meals. It's a huge and tasty portion. COVID Comments: they do takeout only. No seating. No problem for us; we park in one of the school lots nearby to scarf our food in the car. Whatever man. Good grub is good grub. There's a barren herb garden at the moment (it is the end of Nov) but is pretty cool to see during the summertime. They legit had a pumpkin growing in there a few months ago. This place is fantastic. However, soon after we sat down we noticed more people grabbing tables, and eventually, there was a bit of wait-time for a table. 1st: this is a BYOB - bring your own beverage - facility, which means you can bring and enjoy beverages of your choice as you dine. 2nd: they have fun pizza options blending typical savory choices with a hint of sweetness. We ordered 2 pizzas: The Memphis and The Goat. The Memphis is a sweet BBQ chicken pizza with an extra hint of tartness and sweetness from the blueberries. I thought there was actually too much BBQ sauce on the pizza and it made the pizza a bit heavy, but I really enjoyed the addition of the blueberries. As one reviewer said, hard to open up a joint like this when the Trinity resides here but kudos to them! This reminds me of pizza fritte. Dough is really very good-nice chew and travels very well. Sauce is a bit lacking and is somewhat reminiscent of carnival sauce and they skimp out a bit on the cheese. The pizza is very light and literally so was the box! Laughed when my husband had me hold the pie when we picked it up. I asked him, is the pizza in it??? We went to Modern as well too just in case we weren't happy with this plain cheese pie (Lenten Friday) but in reality this cheese pie is far better than modern's plain cheese pie. What great pizza!!! Best from CT I have had so far, almost better then NY or possibly better... We ordered the Hannibal, meatball, and fungus among us. All three were everything you hoped for in a pizza. Thin crunchy crust that holds all the toppings without getting soggy. The fungus among us has some oil along the crust and it was a truffle garlic bread! It was my first time finishing all the crust from every slice I ate. Also order the wings, the buffalo is good like always but try the insider tip wings. The Sriracha and bbq mix is shockingly good, you don't even need any bleu cheese for that one. Fried mozzarella curds were the best fried cheese things I have ever had. Crispy little cheesy nuggets of goodness and dipped in their homemade ranch is to die for. This was my favorite pizza place in New Haven until my pick up experience last night. To the management of One 6 Three, it doesn't look good when every customer is acknowledged and helped except for the one who isn't white. Not sure why, but the (5'5" - 5'7" white male with blue? eyes) employee at the register helped out every other customer that came in both before and after me and then ignored me when I was the only customer in the entire restaurant. There were only 2-3 other customers that were helped immediately when I came in, and once they were all gone, I was still standing there without being acknowledged. And as soon as another customer came in, he immediately talked to and helped them even though I had been waiting with no acknowledgement. I would have chalked this up to an honest mistake, but this happened multiple times, even when standing directly in front of the employee with no other customers there. As soon as another white customer came in, he continued to ignore me, looked past me, and started helping them. Do better. read more
