Ummm, I wasn't too thrilled about my experience at One Eyed Mike's. It's a cute lil spot, but the service was horrible. We made a reservation and was on time, but still had to wait an additional 30 minutes before being seated, keep in mind it was not crowded at all so I'm assuming they were under staffed. I had the lobster roll which was dry and over cooked, my husband had the pork chop which he enjoyed but his drink was trash. They dilute their alcohol without question. I had grand mariner on the rocks that tasted like water. I sent the drink back and gratefully they took it off the bill. This was definitely a one time experience, but glad I had it. read more

On the second day of my conference, I was able to have my pick of dinner spots. Still remembering the wise words of that odd ginger server, we went to One Eyed Mike's. Besides the fact that they are the only Grand Marnier Club in existence, the thought of really good chili enticed me further. Once in and seated, I was a little thrown off by the red and white checkered table cloths. The server later told us that they do an Italian night, hence the tacky décor. Trying not to be a pig in front of my coworker, I kept my order light; a bowl of chili, a crab cake appetizer, and the cheese and mustard covered pork chop. What a place. Honestly, just read their menu description of the history (it's short) and buy into the idea. Really, just do it - buy a membership and get your bottle assigned if you live in Bmore or plan to visit regularly. It's a unique idea, and they execute well. After coming here just a couple times, I see why I had heard people mention it affectionately over the years, and question how I had never wandered it. OEMs is a cute, homey bar settled in an unassuming building on the stroll down Bond street. The nachos and fries and good at the bar, but I haven't had dinner yet which I've heard is the real kicker that people love (only one vegetarian main dish that I saw, will try it out sometime). I would spoil it for the locals by explaining what it is, but I actually want to visit this bar again (don't worry, it's something that tastes great.. Nothing bad). - If you plan to visit often, join their Grand Marnier Club... For a $100-$200 fee, the staff will save your bottle of Grand Marnier at the bar. The regulars get better (and visible) bottle placement.... A badge of honor in the Fells Point scene. I should also mention this place is the biggest consumer of Grand Marnier in North America (crazy for a tiny bar, eh?). - Aside from the amazing food and friendly staff that have already been mentioned in other reviews.... I want to briefly mention what the bar does at night as their last call. Instead of flipping on the lights and kicking everyone out like other bars you may frequent... The incredible owners of One-Eyed Mike's began a tradition of dimming the lights and giving a heart felt "thank you" toast as the last call at their establishment..... This causes it's patrons to leave the place with a sense of belonging and community that you can only get at the best bars. Bravo to you One-Eyed Mike's.... We came here on a drizzly evening and found exactly two people in the whole place, and it turned out one was the bartender AND waiter. Nonetheless, our dinner was very good. We got French onion soup for an appetizer and the crab cake plate and the scallops with crab risotto. The soup was great. I thought the scallop plate was perfect! My husband thought his crab cakes were just okay, but I loved those, too. We were surprised at the quality of this place as we thought it was more dive-bar-like than fine-dining - judging from this looks of the place outside. Came here on a Sunday afternoon to hit up some appetizers. It was cold and windy and this was the first place along Aliceanna that we could pop into. It was like 4 pm so I figured it wouldn't be that busy...wrong. The bar area was packed and loud. We ended up snagging a table in the back. My main issue is that it was so loud in this room we could barely hear ourselves think. The waiter was very good and accommodating. The drink menu isn't huge and options are limited. They obviously had bottles of Grand Marnier here...see other reviews. We ended up just ordering some apps. Here's the run down: Nachos with chicken. Lobster Mac and Cheese, crab cake, duck sliders, and Hummus. The Nachos were ok, nothing special. I'm pretty sure I could have made them at home. The Lobster Mac and cheese was really good. There was a lot of lobster in there and the cheese sauce was quite good. The crab cake was really good as well. Lots of lump crab meat and a really good mustardy side sauce to go with it. The Duck sliders were good, ground duck formed into patties, and spicy. The sauce was good but I wish the patties were just a little bigger. Last but not least, the hummus. This also came with a side of olive tapenade. These were both solid items and I enjoyed them both. Overall this place was cool. The service and food were good, but the noise killed it for us. This place is whatevs. Not sure how they are getting so many good reviews. Maybe I came on an off day? I was told that this was a "pirate" themed bar, but I got none of that once I went inside. I came with my husband and his friends. I ordered the chicken Parmesan sandwich with garlic chips and my husband got the meatloaf sandwich. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try any because I was so full already but apparently everyone else at our table tried it and said it was really good. We also got the lobster mac 'n cheese (which had huge chunks of lobster, $19) and it was okay... I like my mac 'n cheese to be CHEESY and it was lacking in cheesey-ness. Of course we had to order dessert and we got the chocolate mousse cake and lava cake with ice cream. I'm not a fan of mousse cake to begin with so I didn't like it very much already. But the lava cake was REALLY good and it was a pleasant ending to our meal. Overall, this place was sub-par based on how much we ended up paying and the quality of the food. Came here on Saturday with my girlfriend and I called 45 minutes ahead to make a reservation. We entered into the place and the bar was packed. We had to walk through a large crowd to their dining room and we were relieved to see that the dining room was not at raucous as the bar (completely empty). We were seated at a 2-top next to a servers station and the bathroom. Given my previous experiences at restaurants I knew this was a terrible spot to be sitting so I requested to be moved. Our server checked with another server to see if he was cool with swapping and he reluctantly said yes. Thankfully we moved because not one minute after we moved there was a line of 3 guys standing next to our previous table waiting to use the single bathroom. Our server greeted us, took our drink order and told us he'd be back to let us know the night's specials. Another server dropped our drinks and told us our server would be right over. Our server came back and spent a full 5 minutes detailing the list of the night's specials recited FROM MEMORY! I was extremely impressed with this and told him so. We ordered a crab cake for our appetizer as I had to try and authentic version of this Maryland treat. This was dropped about 5 minutes after we placed our order and it was OUTSTANDING! Almost zero filler and all lump crab meat, easily the best part of the meal. Our entrees arrived another 5 minutes after we finished our crab cake. I ordered the lobster BLT which was probably the best spin on a BLT I have ever had. The lobster was obviously fresh as was the tomato and romaine lettuce. I was slightly underwhelmed with the amount of bacon on the sandwich, but it ended up being the perfect amount of food. The asparagus stalks on the side were small, but I guess I couldn't expect much from a side dish for a sandwich. My girlfriend ordered a pineapple pork loin (special that night) which was excellent as well. Our server came back after our entrees were finished and inquired on desert. We declined, but I asked if we could have a couple more drinks at our table. He replied "Absolutely, take as much time as you'd like!". Overall I give this place 5 stars because I was blown away by the service here. Not only did we have our server taking care of us, but we had a team of servers/bus boys making sure our drinks/waters were always full. Although I'm not in tuned with One-Eyed Mike's history and the Grand Marnier Club, I bookmarked this place for a long time and finally got a chance to check it out. I'm sure brunch isn't representative of what One-Eyed Mike has to offer, but it was pretty decent. It's a pretty ordinary menu, but the items are done well. I opted for the most interesting dish -- the Stuffed French Toast with pecan cream cheese. Not too shabby. Had some of the Rancheros scramble as well, which was also pretty decent. I believe in general, the portions of the brunch items were just right for a normal person. I'm not that normal, so I still had a little room in my belly. Service was great too, especially when we surprised them with our brunch club of over 15 members. I'd probably want to check out the bar side or dinner next time. read more

We were in Towson yesterday and decided to go into Baltimore for dinner. Looked on yelp for days and decided on One Eyed Mikes because of all the great reviews on yelp... If these are the best crabcakes in Baltimore, I'd hate to taste the others. Sure there is significant, huge amounts of crab in their cakes, but it was missing seasoning of some kind (perhaps a little salt, pepper, old bay....something because they were bland). We also ordered the open face beef tips. The dish was actually pretty good, the horseradish aoli was to die for!! But again, not the best food I've ever eaten. And for the price, it just didn't seem worth it to us. I have NO problem paying $$ for GOOD food, so that's not an issue. I had REALLY high hopes for this place (due to all the great reviews) and it just didn't deliver. Maybe we'd try it again as I understand all places have "off" nights. I really wanted to like this place, it just didn't happen. The GM bottles all over were definately a sight to see. This place is well known for the Grand Marnier drinks. In fact, they are the largest Grand Marnier clubs in the USA. That's pretty cool! While I am not a Grand Marnier drinker, the drink that I tried was good. When you first walk in you enter into the bar area. If you walk to the end of the bar area (away from the door) they will greet you to go into the dinning room. When you enter the dinning area, the whole ambiance changes into a great and wonderful restaurant. The dinner menu is good and they have wonderful specialties to eat. My first course I had French Onion Soup. It is was delicious as they had a different way of making the topping with cheese. I have posted the picture of the soup. It was a good way of making the crock of soup. My second course was the special of the day, which was a seafood platter which included 1 Crab Cake, 2 Scallops, 1 Stuffed Lobster Tail, 1 side starch (I ordered Mashed Potatoes), and 1 Vegetable (I ordered Brussel Sprouts). This was delicious and I have posted a picture as well. My third and final course was desert! I had Creme Brûlée. It was very good. They had a different spin on this wonderful desert as well, which was to put raspberry and chocolate sauce on top (not a lot, just a little), which was perfect! It was delicious. I really enjoyed coming here. It was Tuesday last night and when we got there it was completely empty. But eventually the bar filled up. The Bartenders were exceptionally friendly and talkative. They spared no expense at explaining the menu and they answered all our questions about our favorite drink! I had the lamb chops and and they were tender and delicious. (A tad pricey but worth it) my boyfriend got the surd and turf. Disclaimer: it's not a very pretty plate but he did say he loved the crab cake. But his steak was well done which he didn't care for- but the steak still had had a good flavor. It was a really nice time and a great date. I am glad I took him there. I had been waiting for a long time to take him because his love for Gran Mariner and it was worth the wait. This place is tiny with only a few tables but as a result has a nice, unique ambiance. We arrived around 9pm on a Friday night and were able to get seated. Our server was super friendly and gave good recommendations. I had the New York Strip - it was delicious. Cooked perfectly, tender and juicy, and tons of flavor thanks to the mushroom sauce on top. We also got nachos for the table and I was impressed with those as well. Fresh ingredients and a large portion. My Grand Marnier cocktail was solid too. Friends, this place is seriously awesome. Came here after lunch at Thames Oyster House to check out the Grand Mariner club.... something I've seen on a few blog posts. Owner was super fun to talk to and very knowledgeable of the area. After talking about the great crab cake at Thames, he brought out one of his own crab cakes. I was skeptical of course, as I love Thames. Yum. Fresh chunk blue crab with homemade tartar sauce was to die for!!! I'd hate to say better than Thames... but folks, it was quite delicious. If you love chunk blue crab, stop here.... I've had one of the best margaritas in Baltimore here. And yes, I've tried a few places around Fells Point and Inner Harbor area. All I can say is that I'd wish I would have know about this amazing place earlier. Definitely will be my favorite spot in Fells. Walk through the bar, and you'll get to the restaurant in the back where there's about 10 tables. Unfortunately our table was by the restrooms so that was distracting. The food though was great!! Look, I actually came here to drink on the recommendation of a friend. So while we were doing that, we thought, hey, we haven't eaten since lunchtime, let's look at the menu. Ah, let's just get some soup and some deviled eggs. Boom. Little did we know how that decision made so cavalierly changed everything. I'll never look at a bowl of crab soup again without seeing how it measures up to this one. OMG. The flavors! The lump crab? I reached for the pepper as that beautiful bowl was placed in front of me and the bartender stopped me. He said taste it first. You won't need that. Ha. I've heard that dozens of times but ok, I'll humor him. Then BANG!! That spicy goodness hit me and I heard music. This is how it's done. He said they make their own habanero sauce which is cooked into it. Wow. It's not too spicy so you don't have to worry if you don't like heat. It just adds incredible flavor. When a bartender makes a recommendation of another bar, it's akin to insider trading secrets- we listened and bought in. I can't tell you how much my husband and I love this bar (I'm sad I only started checking in a couple months ago). We love it so much, we are willing to drive 45 minutes to get to Baltimore and have probably been here at least 20 times over the last couple years.. The best thing about this bar, as you will quickly notice, is the amazing staff who make a concerted effort to remember you and enhance your experience at One Eyed with unparalleled attentiveness. You can ask for Kurt, Jimmy, Jamie... but it really doesn't matter. Everyone is cool. Everyone there makes me smile. The bar has a nice warm and dark red/black cool vibe, decorated with a wall of Grand Marnier bottles set behind lit glass. It's the first Grand Marnier Club - but I prefer to imbibe their great selection of beer on tap: Resurrection and Dale's Pale ale are my go-to's but they also have had Mama's lil' yellow pils, various Loose Cannons and Flying Dogs, as well as standard domestics (I'll have the miller lite to "hydrate"). Phenomenal service and food continues in the dining area, should you choose to eat here. Food you wouldn't expect to come from a One Eyed Pirate: -Potato patty appetizer came with tasty sauces. -New York strip steak filled with gorgonzola cheese was fabulous; I sopped up every ounce of the burgundy reduction sauce. -French Onion soup - savory goodness and cheesy. -Bruschetta - Fresh and love the balsamic reduction. -Nachos - good with plenty of toppings but don't eat too many or you won't be able to finish your Resurrection! -French Dip - medium rare beef with meaty dipping sauce. On the last night of a conference at the Marriott, I was in charge of finding a place for my boss' boss, a co-planner, and I to eat. At first, I had picked some fancy schmancy place that we would have had to take a cab too. Then my deliriously tired body and ongoing cold told me that I needed to stay close. With my handy dandy yelp app, I looked up this place because it had a patio and this was still a relatively balmy night (oh how I miss the DMV). The we strolled in through the bar to the completely empty dining room...which was probably best as my little group tended to talk about the most boring things imaginable. Impressions: STAFF IS AWESOME. I realize that it was slow but everyone was incredibly nice, knowledgable and exemplified what a restaurant like this should be. Food- also great. I can't recall off the top of my head what each of us had, but since I think service can make or break a place, this was only icing on the cake. Best crab cake in Baltimore! The Perfect Storm is an amazing drink! The atmosphere is calm, the decor is iconic...

My friend and I were on a mission to find a dive bar and were happy to discover that we were only a few feet away from One-Eyed Mike's. The atmosphere was just my speed, the patrons friendly (maybe drunk but friendly nonetheless), and the bartenders knowledgeable. We did not buy into the Grand Marnier club but we did talk to someone who did. My first thought was, "Why would someone be proud to own a bottle of that? Isn't that a fruity liquor?" After taking a shot of the stuff (which was easy enough to procure from our new drunk friend), I realized I was wrong. There may have been a reason he and his friends were in the state they were. Our bartender, Jimmy, served our drinks strong and approached his job with just the right amount of sarcasm that I appreciate. I, being the indecisive one that I am, let him handle my drink order. My only request was that it included the bar's drink of choice. My friend ordered an Irish coffee which was shockingly strong. Jimmy was nice enough to top it off with some whip cream to balance it out and even added more when it was gone. Talk about service! read more

Oh no!!! I'm reading all the other reviews of this place...and almost feel guilty for posting mine! First - I have to say I really LIKED this place. From the moment I stepped inside (with my visiting nephew from Alabama), it seemed like a winner! It had sort of a Fells Point "dive bar" feel to it, but was so much more. All the staff was uber-friendly, but not in some sort of fake or "schtick" sort of way. We REALLY felt welcome! Even other patrons stopped to say something at our table or bid us a 'good evening' as we left. I picked up a strong vibe that the wait staff thought us a "couple" - and they were wayyy cool about it! Wasn't worth trying to correct, but found it somewhat charming and endearing. Let me try to give the kitchen staff the benefit of a doubt - maybe it was just an off night for them. First up - 5 oz. crab cake appetizer. Wanted to impress the 'Bama nephew with what a crab cake is supposed to be!! First bite didn't disappoint - huge lumps of crab, good spicing, little filler. Should have stopped there. Second bite turned up a full tablespoon of gummy filler. Another tablespoon in the 3rd bite. This was just .... well....nasty. I'll bet the batch just didn't get mixed well, but 1/4 cup of filler in 2 bites of a 5oz cake was a bit much. Kicking myself now - I SHOULD have sent that one back. The mahi-mahi special my nephew ordered sounded good. Topped with seafood medley... typical Bmore fare. Except... the fish was really overcooked and the stuff on top was over-salty. Had my heart set on the pork chop. This Flinstone-sized chop came out! Not a good sign since it's hard to cook a chop that size well. It was perfect - not overcooked around the edges or undercooked in the center. Frankly, one of the best pork chops I've eaten. Alas ... they should have forgotten the mustard, asiago, garlic "crust". First - not a crust. It was just a quarter cup of minced raw garlic and some cheese and mustard spooned on top. Had good flavor, but being 90% raw garlic...was way too much. Sitting on a stone-cold bed of ... you guessed it ... about 1/4 cup (must have been the only size measurer in the kitchen that night) of garlic mashed potatoes... with a side of raw asparagus. But - it all "felt" right. And I think it probably is usually much better (and wish I had hit it on a good night). I'm going to have to get up the nerve to go back and try it again. read more

I liked one-eyed Mikes i remember having bookmarked this place for quite sometime. My cousin was in town and a friend of hers recommended we go. The food was great, they have tons of specials and i mean tons. The drinks were decent and delicious with a Grand Marnier theme, at least the ones i ordered. I ordered a beef tip sandwich, told them to hold of on the cheese, my cousins and a bunch ordered lobsters, sliders, steaks, crab cakes etc.. they all enjoyed it. Unassuming little place and the food is really great. They do not pack you in which is nice considering it is a small dining room. The food was amazing, the service was great and overall I would definitely go back. The steak was cooked to perfection. Mac and Lobster appetizer is a must. read more

So, remember watching the show Cheers and thinking to yourself, "I wish we had a bar like that in our neighborhood..."? One Eyed Mikes is the closest bar to Cheers you'll ever get in Baltimore. Everyone really does know your name. And if you're a newcomer, the boys introduce themselves, shake your hand, make you swoon, and memorize your name and your favorite drink before the next time you come in. (And you are most definitely going back. Have you seen those boys?!) The only (and do I ever mean only) down side is that it can be a bit snug on busy nights. Other than that, the tuna in pepperjack cheese or the crab cake or the chilli nachos or the Sunday Brunch... calling my name. Not only is the food gourmet, but their customer service is excellent, the owner is a sweetheart, and the bar itself is a charming little treasure right in Fells Point. The best part is when all the other bars are turning their lights on at 2am and telling you to get the hell out, Mike's staff turns all the lights out for "Shot In the Dark." They pour some tasty signature GM (Grand Marnier), give a little thank you for coming in speech, and we do a happy shot in unison.
