Underwhelming. Expected a bit more based on the reviews. Located upstairs (duh), One Flight Up has a simple cafe menu with very limited breakfast offerings. I had the Quiche (spinach, artichoke). A small slice, tasty, but overall disappointing since I paid $9. The one-size Latte, served in a plain mug, was basic, hot, but not very strong (recommend getting an extra shot) Perhaps lunch is better. The atmosphere was the best part about the place; nice, kitchy, ample indoor and outdoor patio seating with a lot of original art with 70's music playing in the background. Overall, not bad but not worth the price I paid. Lots of other choices in town.

The food was pretty good, although the presentation wasn't consistent. My wife had the same but had a real plate while I received a paper one. But it was due to what I imagine was a mix-up. They were looking for someone who'd ordered the honey mustard chicken wraps. So only one showed up when the food finally arrived, so they had to fill the other after the fact. It's not a huge issue, but noticeable. The server was apologetic and did good overall. I guess they felt overwhelmed with the extra weekend traffic since it was the blueberry festival this week. Although it's not a huge place, the place had a SOHO vibe to it and felt cozy. Live and learn. I would probably come during another day and compare.

Atmosphere - Great! The restaurant is located in the center of town near the shops. As the name states, the restaurant is located on the second floor of a building (I did not see an elevator). The dining areas are located in several small rooms in what appears to be a former home or apartment. There also is a small outdoor seating area that overlooks the street. The décor is casual, yet very nice. Service - Very Good. Our server was attentive and friendly. Food - Very Good. I had the soup and half sandwich special. I ordered the Lobster Bisque and Roast Turkey with Swiss Cheese. Both were great. The bread was fresh and the roast turkey and Swiss cheese delicious. The soup was served hot and had a great flavor. Overall Value - Excellent. If you are in Mt. Dora and are looking for a lunch that offers a nice atmosphere, good service and very good food at a reasonable price, this is the spot for you.

I love this place! We were looking for somewhere with a lighter lunch and this fit the bill. They have appetizers, salads, soups and sandwiches. You first have to walk up a big flight of stairs, thus the name. You pick up a menu and choose your seat and the servers find you. We ate inside at a low four top. The seats have cushions, but there are also spares sitting around as some of them are softer than others. The atmosphere is funky and whimsical, and I truly enjoyed looking around at all the pictures and decorations. There are numerous different rooms, all decorated with interesting things. Our server quickly brought our drinks and then we placed our order. I settled on a cup of tomato basil bisque soup and a half a Turkey and Swiss on whole wheat bread. I don't think we waited 5 minutes and our food was brought out. The plate was appealing, with sides of a pickle and olives and the soup and sandwich looked awesome. The soup was hot and very full of flavor. The sandwich was served on very fresh bread, REAL Turkey and a more than ample amount of Swiss cheese. There was also tomato and lettuce on the sandwich. It was fantastic!!! I would absolutely return here when in the area.

2nd floor cafe in spectacular Mt Dora. Enjoying the beautiful fall weather in Florida with sunny views from the Cafes outdoor balcony seating. Great friendly service. Coffee was good.

Can't go wrong with a tuna salad sandwich.

Hungry for an early lunch during the Mount Dora Arts Festival, the first place we tried to get into had a line out the door. We kept walking, and I happened to look up and saw people sitting on a balcony eating. We walked up a couple of flights of stairs to a sign that said "seat yourself" so we grabbed two menus and headed out to the balcony. Our waiter had just cleaned the table so we quickly sat down and perused the menu. It clearly was a menu for just the 2 days of the art festival, as there were very, very few items on it. A few sandwiches, a few salads, and some appetizers. I ordered the tuna salad, but I should have said tuna salad *salad* apparently, because I ended up with the the tuna salad sandwich. Which actually was fine - the bread was fresh, and the tuna was tasty having been dolled up with onions and celery. It came with bagged chips and a pickle spear. The best part of the meal, though, was people-watching from the balcony. We never did see our waiter again, but since he had dropped off our check when the food came, that was fine. You pay when you leave at the coffee bar, which thankfully wasn't too busy. I would love to try some of the regular menu items next visit.

Honestly the worst tomato soup I have ever had :(

So disappointing. I always like to give places a chance and a try but honestly they lost me from the very beginning. If you aren't local you are a bit confused on what to do when you enter. We finally asked someone if we needed to be seated or if they would seat us. You seat yourself. Grab a menu. There are no children's menus here (which is fine) but they will offer a grilled cheese if your kids are into those. I wish mine were. My husband and I decided on getting half soup and a sandwich. This also comes with a side of chips. Keep that in mind. I had planned on letting my kids eat my side of chips. We also got the cheese and bean dip appetizer. Service was ok but it was a busy day for them so we let it slide. However, when I ordered my sandwich they asked if I wanted wheat or white bread. I said wheat. Appetizer-- meh. It was A LOT of dip but I have had better cheese dip at a tail gate. It was very basic and lacking flavor. Comes with tortilla chips but not enough. Chicken salad sandwich- Wouldn't get it again. They brought it out on the wrong bread and they would have replaced it for me but I told them I don't like wasting food so I ended up eating it. The chicken is obviously from a can. It was very basic and once again... I can make better. Why am I paying money for this? Tomato soup- awful. Worst soup I have ever had because it tasted like water. When the server came out with our sandwiches I noticed it was missing the chips. I brought it up and he said "do you want me to get those?" .... are we serious? It literally comes with the meal. Why would I not want what I am paying for? SMH All in all.... no. The only alluring thing about this place is the patio view and that's how they reel you in but it's a no for me. I rather make my own food at home.

One Flight Up Café is a downtown coffee shop and wine bar serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, appetizers, desserts, coffee drinks, beer and wine. It was voted as having the best coffee in the area. And yes, as the name would indicate it is one full steep staircase flight up, but with balcony seating overlooking downtown and one of the best views of downtown Mount Dora. I had their Sandwich Combo being one half of a sandwich and a bowl of soup. The sandwich was simple, nothing of any particular note but good enough. The soup however was really very good. Overall, I can say I'm a fan of One Flight Up Café for its really great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Let's start with the vibe. The art that adorns the walls, the cozy little rooms, each with a different type of decor are part of what defines Mount Dora. There's also the bar/cashier area and the open air front porch so you can look over downtown. Now Add the fact that you can purchase the artwork using various online payment methods and take it home with you after your visit!! OK ... now about the food. I had a half of the Tangy Summer Salad, which had lots of accoutrements like Craisins, walnuts, and tomato and a variety of lettuce along with a very sweet and tangy dressing. Then I had the spinach, mushroom, asparagus quiche which was creamy and lovely. Finally I have to give a shout out to the server who was so friendly and the cook who came out and gave me my meal. I topped off my meal with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc which was chilled perfectly and a very decent pour. Great afternoon Lunch/Brunch.

Just stopping by Mt. Dora for my favorite Olive Oil store. Sadly, they did not have the tasting. But still got my favorites. For lunch we stopped by One Flight Up Cafe. And we were so glad we did. Appetizer smoked fish was delicious. Chips and dip salsa was very good. Must taste the outstanding lobster bisque and the chicken salad sandwich. Down that with a nice cold (or 2) stella, and you are in lunch heaven. Service was quick and professional. Servers were very attentive. I love this place. Highly recommend

On my first trip ever to Mount Dora, I discovered One Flight Up Cafe. The first thing that attracted me to this place was their terrace!! you get a beautiful view of the Main Street in Mt Dora's downtown area while you enjoy your food. I was visiting with my parents and I was glad we found this good spot for breakfast. They offered a limited breakfast menu, but we were able to get a substantial sandwich. You get to choose the bread you prefer, english muffin, or bagel and your meat and cheese. We also ordered "cafe con leche," coffee with milk, the coffee was very good quality and they were able to accommodate my preference for almond milk. I was really glad about that. You get free coffee refills. The staff was very nice and were constantly checking on us which I appreciate. I do wish they had a more extended breakfast menu, but maybe they are meant to be more of a lunch spot. Either way, I totally recommend a visit and please sit on the terrace, you won't regret it!!

The Southern burger was great, but I tossed off the raw onions as I absolutely hate them, and added the lovely pickled onions from my wife's salad, which gave the perfect amount of flavor and color. Don't you agree? Give me a LIKE if you do !!! The crepe was next level. Delicate crepe, very soft ripe bananas, sauce was not disgustingly sugary, and the vanilla ice cream was smooth and soft, not icy and sweet. Dunno what brand they use, or if they churn the cream fresh in-house, but it made my day.

Driving back to Georgia after a visit to the mouse and wanting to limit our exposure to the I-4…read moretraffic, we drove through the charming town of Mount Dora. There are lots of delightful restaurants there (according to yelpers) but many were located downtown and parking was hard to find so we decided to go to Fifth Avenue Streatery since we had driven by and there was lots of parking. All of which the tables are outside on a charming patio with lots of interesting decor. It was 11:30 so the day was pleasant and sitting outside was fine. Not sure how I would feel about that in August. Our waitress was Haley (guessing at the spelling) and she was bubbly and very attentive. The menu wasn't overwhelming and I always think that's a good sign that most of the food is being prepared fresh and not pulled from a freezer. My mom ordered the fish sandwich with tomato and cucumber salad. After ordering the Italian Haley said they were out of beef until the owner arrived so I went for the day's special which was a seafood basket: two pieces of fried fish, four huge shrimp and clam strips. Clam strips are not my favorite but these were very crisp and tasty. It was served with fries and cold slaw. We both agreed the food was very good. I asked for some cocktail sauce and after a few minutes she came back with saying she had to make some. It was fantastic, very horseradish forward which I loved. I am glad we couldn't locate our first two choices since we got to eat at this funky little place and have the best server in all of Mt. Dora.

I think I also had high expectations since they have been awarded some accolades as well. It's located in downtown Mount Dora, which is a very cute are. It's walkable and there's some parks on that road. We got there, it is an opening seating arrangement and a small restaurant. It was really cute and they have wine slushies and I wish I could have had some of those. I got a regular smash burger with truffle parm fries. It was definitely on the more expensive end of food. The burger was not really a true smash burger, but it was fine. I would rate is a 7/10. The truffle parm fries were an 8.5/10. It was definitely made well, I just think I wish both items had more flavor to it. The truffle parm fries felt like it used truffle oil, which is fine, but I couldn't taste it strongly. I could smell it, but not taste. The burger, I just wished was actually smashed into the griddle where it gets really crispy. I will say the customer service was excellent. They misheard my partner order an extra patty and they brought it out to him immediately. Otherwise, they have a lot of sauces and other little things to place on the burger, so maybe that's why they keep it more basic. I did not see all that till after I already ate the whole thing. Overall, I think it's good and an 7/10 restaurant. I'd like to come back and try it again to get a better opinion of it.
