The owner has a bit of a bad attitude and it seems as if he is there every time I go there so that always makes the experience a little less enjoyable. Ok, this place would be WAY better if they delivered. Still, the pizza is pretty delicious, especially if you're into fluffy, voluptuous crust (that only Lubbock's uniquely minerally (?) water can deliver). While in college, I lived on One Guy's Calzones. For me, it doesn't get any better than sitting down in this cozy pizza joint with a calzone and a drink. Don't forget your cash, they don't accept credit or debit cards; although they do have an ATM on site in the new location. The basic calzone is sausage, pepperoni and cheese. You can make a special order, but it will take about 15 minutes. The pizzas are solid, but I was always drawn to the calzones. This is one of the best restaurants in Lubbock. I have been eating here for years, and I am very happy that it is close to Tech's campus. I usually order the house cal-zone, and it is probably the best cal-zone I have eaten. Sometimes, I will go for the pizza, and it is very good, as well. Granted, there is not a lot of room to sit down inside, which can cause some congestion around lunchtime and dinnertime, but the food served there is very much worth the wait. I am not from Lubbock. My daughter and I had eaten at One Guy from Italy the night before and it was so good we decided we would pick it up to go to take with us on our drive back to Dallas since there is literally nothing in between the Lubbock and the DFW area. (Just a FYI: I believe these two places are owned by different people and that this is the original location). We ordered our food to go for three people (two house calzones and one veggie calzones). They told us our food would be ready in 30 minutes. We arrived 30 minutes later to pick it up our food which was still hot and ready to go. We were taking ours food to go so they packed up marinara sauce, ranch and parmesan cheese to go too. The portions you receive are large, plenty to eat for one meal. Two of our calzones put together would be at least the size of a medium pizza. The place was busy with college students, families and people eating alone, but we didn't have to wait in line. We were supposed to eat our food half way home but it was way to good to wait. (BTW the parking isn't great, but it's worth it to find a parking spot for this place and go inside)! Instead of eating 1/2 way to Dallas, we sat in the car and ate all or food or at least 1/2 our calzones. So if you're looking for an AMAZING place to eat out or to take your food to go, this is the right place for you. That is if you like pizza or calzones or anything else on the menu. I won't go back!!! The price of the traditional calzone has increased by 26 percent. The Website still shows $5.50, but they charged me $6.93. The create your own calzone price on the Website is $6.95 and they charged me $7.95 to add black olives to the traditional pepperoni and Italian sausage. I got black olives, four slices of pepperoni and NO sausage. When I went in to pick it up, it wasn't ready because I had to wait for them to get the desserts. In the meantime, they dropped the box with calzones on the floor. The box didn't open, but In a COVID world, that is unacceptable! This is the first negative post I have ever created. I ordered the house calzone due to time constraints (although I'm not the biggest fan of sausage and pepperoni) and it was surprisingly good. Just sad. I am just sad. This was my go-to place for a while, until I had a very unique experience. I am a vegetarian, I do not eat meat. However, I love barbecue, which Is why I love to devour a BBQ chicken pizza WITH NO CHICKEN. I do not think that is a very confusing or outrageous request. I ordered this pizza at least 50 times. The people that run the place from the people you casually chat up when sitting down to eat, is just something that's amiss nowadays. Anytime my family visited me, they had to have "the good stuff." I love this place. I mean I really, really love this place. Every time I come in to Lubbock, I always eat here because it's pizza at its best. The crust is amazing and cooked to perfection - the cheese and toppings are delicious! I go to the 50th location because it's much easier to park at than the one across from campus, but the one on University makes me feel at home and like a student again. Although I wish the one on 50th didn't have servers (I hate tipping people who bring me one glass of water...) and that they sold pizza by the slice all day, this is some of the BEST pizza I have ever eaten and by far the best pizza Lubbock has to offer! read more
