After hearing stories of "One Guy" from my Texas Tech alumni parents, I was excited. The place Seemed to have been here forever so decided to visit. Went here on a typically busy Friday around 7pm. I knew they weren't going to be quick but oh good lord. I had one basic calzone and no kidding waited 50 minutes for it. I would have left if i hadn't already paid for my meal. Do you know what the best thing about this place was? Dario. Too bad after 34 years they decided to sell the business out from under him. I have been coming here since 2009 and I have never been disappointed. The owner is exceptionally friendly. If you go often enough he will know your name, your back story, and your normal order. The food is delicious! I highly recommend the sausage pizza or a regular calzone. You won't be disappointed. The crust is crispy, delicious, and made fresh in house. I could go for the crust alone. A great local place. One Guy's is known for their calzones and their pizza is good too! Right across from the Texas Tech campus, it's easy to find. The staff is super friendly and the food doesn't take long to come out. It's an efficient operation. I was here a few weeks ago for lunch and ordered the calzone with extra marinara. I'm not a fan of their calzones... the reason you can get one and a soda for $5 is because One Guy's literally uses the cheapest ingredients they can buy. Go to their 50th Street location and get some real Italian . Their specials are always amazing and usually made with higher quality ingredients. read more

Now, don't go comparing these Texas calzones to an NYC or Philly calzone. The calzone here is okay. In my opinion, Giorgio's is better. I'd take advantage of the lunch special next time. Definitely a college environment as it appears that the staff are mostly students, the patrons are mostly students, and it is right across from the TTU campus. While my order was taken and prepared, I had the, not so unique, privilege of watching the manager train some new young employees to be customer service-oriented pizza makers. Oh, One Guys, I love you. I really, really do. One guys was one of the first (if not THE first) place I ate when I came to Tech...and I've been hopelessly in love ever since. I love the way Sicilians do pizza: fresh, simple ingredients in food that is simply amazing. I alternate back and forth between the traditional house calzone and a large pizza when I want to have left overs for later. If you're looking for a fantastic pizzeria that will hit the spot, do yourself a favor and stop in for their lunch special. Just came in to Lubbock and this was my first stop. I came in hungry and left stuffed and order food to take to the hotel. I got a house calzone and it was huge. The staff was friendly enough. The crust was crispy. The cheese tasted like quality. The price was very reasonable. The ambiance of the place was, average, but no worse than any other pizzeria I guess. I got a slice with tomatoes, and a slice with onions. The onions were chopped up like little cubes and they didn't taste fresh. Much better would have been them just sliced longways, especially them being the only item on the pizza. But I won't dock a star for below average onions due to the way they're cut and lack of freshness, when everything else was on par. read more

Delicious food every time. I come here often for the pizza but sometimes get the pasta if I'm in the mood. Cool location right by campus and next to Bash's so you can go get a drink while you wait on your food. I recommend the Alfredo pizza or the penne pasta with pink sauce. Ok...being from Austin, I consider 99% of the restaurants here to be better than in Lubbock. One Guys is a big exception. When I crave pizza, I crave this place. PERFECT amount of sauce and cheese (they like to put a looot of cheese) on a perfect amount of crust. To me, it is mouth watering e-ver-y time. Went for dinner and had a calzone. I agree with Claire T.'s review. The calzone was nothing special and consisted of half cooked, canned ingredients (really? Canned mushrooms?!). First off their style of pizza may not appeal to everyone but I liked what they delivered to me. I had read where some people complained about raw onions, mushrooms etc. But when my Canadian bacon and mushroom pizza came it tasted great even though the mushrooms did look raw. This is truly one of Lubbock's gems. Pizza and pasta are great. It tastes like pizza I've had in Italy many times. The personal attention and customer service are great. A calzone on a stressful day (past visit)--perfecto. Most recent visit was a slice, salad, drink combo. Great slice, a generous filling /fresh salad, and yummy soda. If you can get a parking place, this is a great place to go (of course many from campus just walk). CSR guys are always nice. Place does need a makeover. I would love to give this pizzeria a good review, unfortunately after calling in an order I arrived to find a "partial power outage" and couldn't pay via card. I was told I could use the ATM or "pay next time." I asked why they couldn't call to tell me before my arrival but they didn't give an explanation. When I explained that these options would not work as I was buying dinner for my staff at work, I was asked what they should do with the pizzas if I didn't want to pay for them. I found this visit to be rather disrespectful and am not very satisfied with how the staff handled the interaction. I would not recommend this pizzeria in the future. read more

Urban Brick beats the heck outta this place!!! However, One Guy does get the crust right, but from there on - all else is just mediocre. Don't bother with the antipasto salad...lettuce, pizza mozzarella cheese, a few tomatoes chunks, canned slice black olives upon canned sliced black olives then dump some Italian pickled cauliflower/carrots on top. The supreme pizza vegetable toppings were chopped too large so that when you took a bite, all you could taste was a mouthful of bell pepper or a mouthful of onions. Starting with the outside, the shell was tasty and toasted well, providing some crisp but staying soft enough to not break. The inside had generous helpings of cheese and meat. I see the hype and I get it. I went for the first time at a weird time (230pm). They were still so prepared and prompt with their service. We got 4 hot slices right out of the oven between the two of us and it was only $11. That seems like a bargain for how close it is to campus and for how large and cheese filled the slices are. My cheese slices were divine. Perfect ratio of cheese and crunch. My husband got a cheese slice that wasn't as done and that was sad, but his other sausage slice was up to par with mine. The seating area was simple and clean. The bathroom was a little scary, but eh, I am sure college students don't really care about cleaning it that hard haha.
