Previously known as St John's, when it was part of Fergus Henderson Leicester Square hotel adventure, One Leicester Square remains no more but no less than another nose to tail eatery usually synonymous with the St John's brand.
This is hardly surprising, headed by Tom Harris, the man in charge of the old St John's restaurant at the site, the menu comprises of the typical Fergie selection of meat, veg and organs together with the eye watering price tags. Perhaps it is true that you get what you pay for, the dishes are well cooked, the meat was tender and there was a perfect balance of meat and veg. However with one of the mains being somewhat ungenerous and the style of cooking underwhelming, one is left wondering how much can offal cost these days to justify the price tag.
Wine, desserts and waiting staff all added to the positive experience however. Unusual, delicious and attentive is how I would describe the above.
In short: good food, nice wine but not the best value unless you love a nose to tail eatery. If anyone is looking for an unusual night out in Central London on payday, this may be the place for you.
A must: try their excellent selection of wine, ask the staff for advice! read more
